Wright

Wright nodded as he lifted his hat from his head. He began to back away, leaving Piren and Zane to their business now that he had a job to do. "I'm on it," he said, as he retreated to the exit. He paused, looking at Piren over his shoulder.

"Piren, I'll meet with you later to discuss this," he said as he began to load his arms with parcels as he left the C&P behind, forgetting his grief in the wake of his tasks. Oh, there would be plenty of time to grieve later, and certainly his heart ached, but Wright had his priorities to think of first.

As Wright shut the doors of the C&P, locking it from the outside, he leaned against the wall to avoid the outside crowd that could pester him with questions. As much as he would have liked to clear any confusion, he didn't have time for that; not yet.

Wright stopped by the kitchen first, emptying his packages of food as he thought. Who could he find to watch those two? Valeria and Alek were good kids, but they weren't always tolerated among the older company for the sheer, unadulterated volume of their voices. Some said it was agitating, but Wright never saw it that way.

As Wright stopped at a single item, the starfruit, his face burst into a slight smile. Arthur liked kids. He wasn't exactly responsible, but given a grave circumstance, he could learn to be. It was a safe arrangement.

Wright pat himself on the back -literally- and unloaded the starfruit into a white paperbag as he began to search the Circus grounds for the firetamer.

Conrad the Clown

Conrad strolled past the moping blighters crying about Charles' murder. Huh, he wondered what would've happened if he hadn't mutilated the body.

Just general boring moping, probably. No one cared if a sick old man died in the night. But a little old man getting brutally killed? They all lost their minds!

He giggled, causing a few people around him to back away.

Anyway, he had plans for today. He just had to make a quick stop over at Pipkin's tent before he did anything else and help himself to a few things.

He'd been dying to see how the famous Glass Court looked like from the inside.

Piren

Piren mulled the body over. The state, the posture of the body- the odd smooth streak of blood. Something was off- something was foul, and Piren smelled a rat. She didn't like it one bit.

After mulling, she ordered Allen, from the medical tent, who had come close to the scene, to help her carry the body away
With little ceremony or pomp, He and Piren lifted the body and made their way out.

Now mind you, Piren was not without her own welled up emotions at his death- but Piren was a woman of business and action, and right now the safety of the circus was at risk. If there was a murderer, Piren herself would root them out and see them hanged. If it was some sick joke... well Piren would be the most likely to go on a rage and kill the person herself. Defacing a dead body was a task not even the scourge of the earth would do.

She took a breath and leaned over the body, the congealed blood already bothering her as she scritinized it. "Zane, Pull that curtain." She didn't wait to see if he was doing it, she was already fingering some of the wounds and bruising, but if Piren were good with anything, it was dead bodies. She knew them in and out- and she knew this too well. If she didn't know better, she'd almost say this looked like one of her kills. One of her missions. In fact, that bruise across his torso looked like the chain-

"Oh gods in the heavens no." She fumbled for the Kyoketsu shoge tied to her thigh- Piren knew she kept a spare in her tent.

It only took a moment if laying across the bruises and hitting the wounds again with the breathtaking precision with her trusted weapon to know that it was indeed her own weapon that had killed him. Piren felt sick. The person who had done this did so with her own weapon- what, while she dazed in and out of sleep?

"Zane... Someone stole my weapon. And then they did this." She buried her face in her still-bloodied hand, before looking back up. "At least the good news is, this was done post-mortum. Alek can rest at least a bit easier knowing he was not mutilated to death." Piren wiped her weapon and hand off on a nearby towel.

Grabbing for Zane's wrist, she set out, barking orders to clean his body off respectfully. "Zane. After I deal with Alek we have to up security, get food for poor Alek too... the child is probably starving, figure out why my son has been so quiet, who stole my spare weapon, and kill them. Sadistically, if at all possible. And then, set guards on my tent, cancel tomorrow's performance, and maybe I should get sleep... Well, we all know the last one isn't going to happen any time soon." Now Piren was rambling, working through her thoughts as the small pouch on her side poked into her, and she glanced down.

The papers. The letters.

Piren stopped for a second, wrinkling her brows together as she swallowed past the lump in her throat. How often had she wished Tatwu had written something, once, beside his damnable bomb making notebooks? Something for her to read, only her? She picked up the pack of papers, giving a swallow and blinking away emotions as she continued into Valeria's tent. Dropping Zane's wrist- why had she dragged him along again?- she beheld the greif-stricken youth with bittersweet familiarity.

She slowly walked over, the heals of her boots making a much softer thud then her usual furious, clipped footsteps. Somehow she knew she could not cry now, as she was. Charles was one of those few that Piren held close. Maybe because, Like Zane, he was a weathered individual in her heart- those who knew her and Tatwu so well when they were both so stupid... But then again, he always lectured her on how leaders were strong and shined in the worst of times.

Squating before Alek, she laid her hand on her arm, for once silent as she worked through her own turmoil. When she was sure her voice would not break, she gently placed the letters on his lap.

"Alek... I have no clue where to begin. You are far too young to young to have such a brutal loss. Charles was more important to the circus than you know. He helped shape it- like Tatwu and myself, and so many, many others." She paused a moment to again swallow the rising lump. "I want you to have small comfort knowing that he died peacfully- the mutilation was post- mortum. I am currently attempting to find who did it, and bring them to justice. Know also, from my own mouth, Charles was mutilated with my spare kyoketsu shoge- which I do not keep locked up in case I would need it in an emergency. This practice will no longer occur. I'm going to make it manadtory that weapons be locked away unless in active use or on patroling. I wished to keep the news these papers contained for your 18th birthday- you'll see why when you read them, but I know from loosing Tatwu that the words of a loved one are the best comfort when you grieve."

She swallowed again, leaning in to wrap her arm around Alek in that same motherly way she embraced her own son in privacy, "If you ever want to talk about Charles affected you, I will set aside time whenever you need it. He changed me too. I don't expect you to work for a few weeks. Work through this. The entire Circus is here." She hugged him tighter, letting out a shaky breath before regaining her composure.

"Alek, I am so, so sorry." She pat the back of his head. "You have no idea."

Alek

He wasn't listening. The moment Conrad mentioned his mother, Alek shut down. His mind just couldn't take it anymore. Alek just stared a head, practically a vegetable at this point. He barely even noticed when Valeria slapped Conrad (though, later, he would sorely wish he'd been paying attention); he barely even noticed when Valeria reached over and wrapped her arms around him. Neither did he notice her pressing her lips to his forehead.

Alek's mind was gone, but his body was still there, and damn if it reacted to Valeria's actions. His own arms moved to bring her closer to him and he rested his head in the crook of her neck. Alek breathed in her familiar scent---lavender with a vague hint of talcum. He sighed. "I lo--" He didn't get any farther. Piren entered the room. Alek didn't want to snap back into reality, but something about her tone made him.

The more Piren spoke, the whiter he got. His hands, still around Valeria's waist, shook with anger. He could barely keep them still long enough to take hold of the letters she passed him. When she'd left, after many apologies, Alek threw the papers into a corner and sank back into Valeria's hold. Then, he cried soul wrenching sobs.

Conrad the Clown

He grimly chuckled.

He'd just returned from Pipkin's tent when he'd noticed Piren stride purposefully towards Valeria's tent dragging Zane with her. Fortunately she hadn't noticed him wearing her hat. Pressing an ear to the canvas had told him enough. Disappointingly it didn't look like Alek had admitted how crazy he was.

And more importantly- well, there was no real proof on him. He left no prints, having switched over to the snazzy purple gloves for his task, and no one had seen him do it.

His presence at Valeria's fight could've applied as his alibi, but it didn't cover the whole time period and he knew it.

The only real loose end was Keale, who'd seen him leave Piren's tent. Yes, he'd swiped Piren's hat in order to cover him, and sure, he could try and use that with Valeria's fight to cover him.But even so, if Piren was suspicious of him, and he knew she never was that keen on him, even though that didn't mean she'd believe he- or indeed, anyone in the circus- could've done it, most people typically thought of him as a demented clown who was ultimately creepy rather than scary and mostly harmless. Really, even if Piren did try and use his speech to Alek against him, he'd just continue to blame the Glass Court and say that he wanted to help Alek the only way he could because he thought he'd make a good clown.

It was easy for him to feign stupidity.

Say, maybe he ought to flirt with the old ringmaster? He was so fed up with people judging him on his appearance, his gorgeous tan, his full natural hair, dark cherry lips and wonderful taste in fashion, instead of taking him seriously as a person, but he guessed he could try selling his body again.

Well, it might not even come to that. Keale had always got on well with him. Maybe he could use her to his advantage? Join forces, as it were.

Well, after his stop to Pipkin's tent- and that time he'd made sure he wasn't seen entering or exiting the place- he had a backup plan in case they traced it back to him. And he supposed if they did catch him, he could always plead insanity, hee hee hee.

Besides, he could easily take any one of these little nutters. Blindfolded. With his hands tied behind his back. It was all about knowing the way your opponent thought and fought, and he'd had years to see how that worked for them. He had the tricks up his sleeve. Oh, did he have a few surprises for them...

They were still in that calm before the storm.

Not acceptable. Too many years now.

It was time to enter absolute chaos.

It was time to visit Her Maskedness Herself.

Valeria

Valeria felt all she could do was hold him; hold him and let him cry out his sadness, anger, and frustration. What else could she do? Seeing him cry this way, it made her feel helpless.

Piren's visit had been made in the best intentions, but what she brought with her only seemed to have upset Alek even more.

"Everything's gonna alright, Alek"

As his sobs decreased, she knelt down to face him. "Like Piren said, the whole circus is here for you and that includes me. I know we haven't always gotten along but I'm here for you. I'll help you in any way I can."

Standing up slowly, she walked over to the papers Alek had thrown. She picked them up blindly and placed them neatly on the table beside of him. "Piren brought these for a reason so I think you should at least look at them, they may help" she told him considerately.

It was then something caught her mind. Alek had started to say something before Piren entered the room. She looked at him curiously wondering what it was. "Alek, mind if I ask what you where gonna say before Piren came?"

[will post as Zane next post, which will more than likely be tomorrow morning]

Isabel

The circus was in chaos.
So many emotions swirling around, twisting, and dying off just as easily.
And Isabel was able to see every single part of it. All the way from start to finish.
"Charles," she whispered, a tear slowly making its way down her cheek. Then she smiled.
Everything was still starting. There was still time. Perhaps being hidden for a while might help.
She started to walk back to her tent, her mind full of plans, plans that all ended the same way.
They were going to pay for this. They were going to pay for every single thing they did to her circus.

"Woah really? You can even change your voice? How cool" he said excitedly.

"You can go and get your costumes from your tent you know. I'll stay here and stay here with the animals until you get back" he told her reassuringly as he went to pet them. After she had left, he took comfort from the animals that had gradually somehow become his friends overtime. He sat there replaying over and over again, the memory of Charles body in his mind.

Before he knew it, tears were forming in his eyes. Why? Why? Why? he thought. Why did he have to die. It wasn't fair. He ingored everything around him and put his head face down on his knees crying.

Laverna

Wright came, then left. Piren left. No one answered her. Laverna was pissed. What. In. The. HELL. Damn "adults". I'm almost an adult, idiots. Damn fools. If no one will answer me, then I'll figure this out myself. She walked through the tent flaps, and brushed past everyone. She slowed her pace by Piren's tent, where the body was. " '... Someone stole my weapon. And then they did this.' " Laverna raised her eyebrows. Stolen...? But there was more. Leaning a bit closer to the tent fabric, she heard Piren speak again, " 'At least the good news is, this was done post-mortum. Alek can rest at least a bit easier knowing he was not mutilated to death.' " She leaned away. This was an interesting piece of info. Who would mutilate a body after it was dead? Laverna didn't wait to hear more, she went to find more clues.

She went to her tent and changed into a different outfit. She now wore her "civilian" clothes, as she liked to call them. She blended in perfectly with the circus assistants. Only difference was there were two revolvers in her boots, hopefully she didnt accidentally trigger one. And a pocket knife concealed in the folds of her sleeves. She tugged her hat over her jet black hair, and left. Now to get in on the gossip. Laverna went to the neighboring tents around the C&P House. She walked up to a girl carrying too many boxes. "Would you like some help?". The girl nodded, and she took the boxes off her hands. "Do you know anything regarding Alek and Valeria?" She inquired. After much small talk with other helpers, she gather a lot of needed, and unneeded info.

Apparently, After some new girl molested Alek, Valeria got pissed. Conrad was just observing, being "useless and rude" as most of the maids put it. Alek stormed off later, and that's when a stranger showed up and began fighting with Val. Conrad actually helped out, firing his harpoon, but missing. Afterwards, Conrad left in the direction of Piren's tent, and Alek saved the day. The stranger fled, and thats when Val was taken to the hospital and Charles' death was discovered.

"...But where did Conrad go?" She wondered. She gasped. "...To Piren's tent?!" Was he the one who mutilated the body? Laverna didn't know much, but according to the maids, he was pretty wacko. That doesn't necessarily mean he killed him, though. If the gossip is correct, or at least close, he left after Charles' death. Then, who? She suspected the stranger, but why would a stranger kill Charles....? Unless...! The Glass Court?! If the stranger was from the Glass Court, then it would all make sense! The Circus has always been the Court's enemy, so it makes sense. Conrad could have just been screwing around, being his crazy self. He could have stolen Piren's weapon, and mutilated the body, so it would look like whoever was blamed in the glass court was the one who brutally murdered him. Seemed a little too smart for the clown, but if the shoe fits...

Laverna didn't know who in the Glass Court did it, but the entire Court was worthy of punishment, so that's where she was headed.

Galen

He noticed Lav leaving and had a feeling she was angry. Best not to annoy her. He thought with a smile. So he just followed her, staying out of sight. She left her tent to change, and he MOST CERTAINLY wasn't gonna follow her THERE, so he went to the kitchen and grabbed three apples, an orange, and a loaf of bread. I'm such a food hoarder. Oh, if Piren knew... He thought, that ever present smile fading slightly. "Oh, wouldn't that be a bother!" He said, back arched, with one hand on his waist, the other rubbing his chin; quite the comical pose. "Well then, she shouldn't find out!" He said, throwing his hands in the air, and strolling away. He notice his dear partner leaving the Circus grounds. "Now what might she be up to....?" He said, and followed after her.

Selina

Nothing...... Selina thought, sitting in a window sill. The window was round, and painted with bright colors, making the outside world appear bright, cheery, and dream-like. But, what were dreams? Selina did not know. Waiting for orders....that is what Selina does. So, she waited, waited, and waited, all her life. Waiting for orders....simply, waiting.

((Yes, Laverna is jumping to the wrong conclusion. I felt like making her storm the castle. Whoo~~}}

Isabel

She giggled, snuffling her laugh with her long sleeves. Wearing a white, ethereal flowing dress and her ebony hair covered in a net of pearls, she was disguised. She looked the part of a rich girl, taking a stroll through some of the town's sightseeing spots. Her usual blunt, sarcastic talking would be covered with the voice of a curious young girl, wanting to see more of the huge world.
She makes me change my view of her, that girl, she thought. However, her plan is brave and enthusiastic, if not a bit foolish. She eagerly charges ahead with her thought of revenge. But I suppose I am the same.
"Excuse me," she said, sweetly chatting up a circus nobody, easily hanging to her cover. "I've heard from far of this circus's wondrous ability. Is it usually this crowded? I tried coming on a more open day, but perhaps I chose the wrong time."
The circus nobody widened her eyes and looked around before whispering in her ear. "Well, miss. There was a bit of an accident recently. One of the tailors was murdered, it seems. What a horror!" with this, she curtsied and scurried away.
Just like I thought. Word of this incident has already reached the ears of everyone. It is too great of an incident, I suppose. It's too hard to keep it as a secret.
She watched Laverna walk towards the exit of the circus.
Time to test my cover.
Grabbing a basket of powder, she caught up to Laverna and accidentally crashed into her.
Gasping, she began dusting Laverna off. "I'm so sorry! Are you alright? Here, I'll get you a new set of clothes."
