As soon as he heard the cough, he immediately stood up with haste and wiped the tears away. He looked up to see Val. "H-hey Val" he said trying but failing to hide the fact that he had been crying. "I wasn't doing anything. Honest" he answered her softly.

"I asked Zane if I could play with the animals and he said yes..." he told her trailing off. "But what's big sister Val doing here?" he questioned unaware that it was Meg in disguise.

Megumi moved closer, gently rubbing the tears away. "Don't cry. Men shouldn't cry so easily."

Her voice returned to normal as she felt herself softened at the sight of the crying boy. "So, tell me, why were you crying like this?"

She frowned. "The tiger didn't bite you, did she?"

(<_< yeah, I fail.)

Piren

She pushed it all aside. All those feelings, you carefully locked them away. They grew usable, later, like making wine from fruit. Not it was just at that bitter state that made you sick to even smell, but later she could... years later she could let them out and it wouldn't hurt like a dull knife twisting in her gut.

Zane's words registered but now she was walking aimlessly, still looking like she had a purpose with each of her clipped steps, but each took her farther away from the millions of different directions she was heading. How long ago had she felt like this? Where was this feeling of nostalgia from?

-----
"ARTHUR. YOU KEEP CHARLES INFORMED OF THIS!" Piren was tired, like usual, and Pipkins was off... somewhere. Probably with Zane and Ceres. He spent the days since he had found Tatwu's noteboks carefully replicating them, pouring every second into the planning and building and joyously setting them off.

Piren had smiled at him, how like Tatwu he was with his strawberry blond hair and that cheeky grin- like some small part of him was still here with her. She had made it to the tent, Zane having heard her clicking heels from miles away no doubt and was coming to give her the lowdown on what all Pipkins had set fire to today.

However, as she walked in, that second, looking over Zane's shoulder, she noticed it. Pipkins' hair was no longer quite as blonde as it was. No more was it that messy strawberry blond like Tatwu's.. no, it was hers. Her red hair, her green eyes... all hers. He looked like her. Not even like Tatwu. Like her.

... Not even an ounce of the way Tatwu looked remained in even his son. At that moment, her face fell. All she had stored away for so long, all that fell too, in a big, slopping internal mess that came out her eyes as her head hung on Zane's shoulder. There wasn't even an ounce of him there, aside the bombs. That was all those damnable notebooks, those trinkets... That was all that remained. Leeahlee had taken him. That was the only time she had cried over him- she was too busy, too too busy or too tired or too hungry to think about it until it hit her stomach like a dull box of rocks.

And that's what was happening, all over, with Charles. Maybe she was tired, maybe she was drained, but somewhere, somehow, they ended up in a far corner of Circus, Piren looking around aggravated at her own incompetence, and she turned around to see Zane, standing there behind her, knowing. Just knowing she shouldered all the guilt and blamed herself for what had happened to Charles. And again, just like the last time, when she looked over his shoulder, her face fell.

But this time she looked straight at him, letting him see it fall away, before she let her head hang to his shoulder.

"Zane..." She blubbered, saying the only trying that made sense to her right now, "I'm so, so tired."

Keale

She walked, flipped- for a very short while she walked on her hands, even, but nothing was that interesting, the cards didn't call, no, none of it was worth while and eventually, she climbed up a pole and hung from it by her knees, swinging back and wrth, until she felt that itching need to shuffle her card- which she did quite skillfully even upside down. As soon as she saw the first card, she knew they were speaking again, and she gave that tight-lipped, wide-eyed stare over the edge of it.

"Hullo~" She said, as though she was expecting this all along, a visit from her friend the clown, "Care to have your fortune read?"

Arthur

He walked away from the tent, attempting to hurry back to Nate before he burned the whole place down, but indeed,No one ever traveled in a straight line in this circus. He ran into a loose monkey, which he had to convince to come back with him to the animal tent, some poor assistant almost dropped a crate of props, another fell and needed help icing his ankle- and of course the place was a general havoc from Charles' death, not that Arthur was even thinking about that now. However, he was on the way back- finally, he thought, heading for Nate.

Until he somehow ran into a small woman who darted out of a tent, stumbling backwards and knocking her over too.

"Oh, I'm sorry-" He stopped for a second, mid-apologetic bow, and glanced at the young woman, blinking at her for a moment. "I'm sorry, Ramine."

That's right, she was that strange, quiet girl that never talked- the one that positively killed Arthur with a mild curiosity as he glanced at her from across the circus arena- skillfully juggling knives as though she were born for that sort of danger. He reached down and helped her up, intending to ask her more questions while he was here, after all, he wasn't sure where her tent was, but right then Wright called to him, waving enthusiastically, a starfruit in the other hand.

"Hey Wright!" He waved to him "Hold on, I'll be ther-" he glanced in front of him to see the young woman was already off, disappeared like a Cheshire cat, the only remnant of her the trail of hair disappearing around the corner of another tent.

"SORRY I KNOCKED YOU DOWN, RAMINE." He cupped his hands over his mouth to ensure she had heard him, but who knew if she had. He'd track her down anyways. Running over to Wright, He gave a distracted glance over his shoulder in case the girl had come back for some reason. "You- You wanted me?" he said, still craning his neck to see where she had disappeared to.

Leeahlee

She gave a distasteful glance out the window, an unladylike tsk and a slight groan as a guard hurried to her, panting and bowing by ruining the air she was breathing nonetheless, the ant. "What is it you are ruining this perfectly fine air with your horrid stench over?" She demanded, quite ready to tell Mattis to dispose of him as well.

"A lady just came in the gates and did not identify her two passengers." He panted. Behind her fan, her lips turned down in a tight frown.

"Tell her she is to report to my rooms with her two passengers and whomever else is in the carriage. I expect an armed guard to escort them to my chambers. And if for one second things go wrong or out of schedule, I will have you hung." She added the last bit primly, like threatening such things was a ladylike, everyday occurrence that was not considered by any means improper, which considering she ordered deaths often enough, was not a point far off the truth. The guard quickly ran off, as Leeahlee steered Mattis to her rooms.

"Mattis, do try to not get blood on the floor, should this prove treason." She said sweetly, hooking her arm in his once more as she smirked behind her fan.

Caedmon

He glowered at the sidelines a few more minutes, abruptly turning and stalking out the room, heading for anywhere that did not require him to act polite, look at Leeahlee's face, and just generally act like a civil human being to anyone.

Unfortunately, before Caedmon could fume much farther down the hall, he ran into his illustrious brother. "Have you traumatized any maids yet to day? Or are you on your way to hell where you belong?" He asked dryly, gripping the hilt of his more formal rapier, swallowing past the flame of hatred. "Ran over them? Gone to psychologically torture your little bastards? Oh, has it been a slow day for you and Lucifer? Pity."

He attempted to brush past the man, a scowl etched on his face.

Conrad the Clown

"Not now, my dear," said Conrad to the fortune teller. "Instead I'd like to offer you something. Care to actually see the events of the cards? Let them play out in front of your very eyes for once? Then come with me, we're going on a little trip. I have arranged transport, of course."

A white horse, with a mane dyed green, red lipstick that was painted as though to form a smile, trotted towards Conrad. The clown climbed onto the purple saddle, and offered Keale his hand.

She gave the clown a curious look for a moment. Seeing the cards in action, hmm? As she pulled them watching their actions occur as opposed to hiding behind some veiled future she can only foresee? SHe gave him a slightly critical glare, for a moment, she almost looked sane. She stood up, pocketed her cards, and took his hand, swinging up behind him.

She'd tell him later, maybe. Maybe not later. She was no ally, simply an observer. Maybe she didn't need to tell him his fate, veiled in gallows and cobwebs, company kept with skeletons and the rotting.

That's right, Conrad would see it as such the joke.

Rickett

Rickett listened to what Camille was saying, but couldn't understand it. Maybe it was because the sentences didn't link with each other, or the sentences weren't formed correctly. Or maybe, the words just didn't register. But, whatever she meant, it sounded like a little stubborn child. Oh, well, what can he say, that is almost a good description of himself!
"Don't think of Charles and maybe Alek like that. They aren't any better than you on a living, surviving, level---well, maybe Charles isn't on a living level." He second thought himself. That sounded rude, he realized, and it was god-awful ominous. "Well, you understand what I'm speaking of. You were all living beings on this earth, one no better than another. You should think of them as your teachers, and they are passing down practically everything they know to you!" He paused, and added: "You don't have anyone to channel your anger towards? So? What does that mean? You can be angry to whoever you want. You can be angry to god, if you really want, for taking Charles away! Maybe Alek doesn't have a reason to be any more angry than we are! But, he is. You can be as angry as you really want to be! Be part of the group, 'I' is 'you', and 'you' are 'we', and 'we' are 'they', correct? You just said it yourself! So, if you want to just cry, then I'll cry with you. Make it a 'we' not a 'you'."
He finished, gasping for air. He backed up, wondering if he should go to the animal tent, and cry with the beasts, hoping they would be more understanding. Maybe they could give him answers. But, he didn't run that second. He stood his ground, hoping her next point would hurt less than the first.

Zane

A small, barley audible chuckle escaped his lips before he replied "Piren. Of course you are. And you have every right to be," he told her before kissing the top of her head playfully with a family like affection.

He had expected this to happen; for her to keep her feelings locked away till they all came crashing down. No one can hide everything forever. It was only a matter of time after all.

"You need to stop keeping everything inside like this or eventually its gonna break you. We're all human you know. If you feel something, let it out. Don't keep holding it in all the damn time. It only make things harder," he lectured with a hint of concern.

Stepping away, he tilted her head up to look at him, determination showing clearly in his eyes. "Piren. Don't worry. Everything you struggled for, clawed for, killed for, it will all be worth it. We'll catch the lowlife that mutilated Charles' body, and well get revenge against Leeahlee for Tatwu."

His words sounded strong, knowing, as if what he had just stated was the only possible outcome to the small hell the circus had been caged in for almost 20 years.

He then gave her a small smile. "And its the same with you as what you told Alek. The entire Circus is here for you. They always have and always will be. So stop trying to carry everything yourself. There's people who can help if you'll just open your eyes to see them. You know the ones you can trust," he told her reassuringly with grin.

Camille

"But I don't want to be angry." She said, stepping forward and touching his forehead, "I want to stay calm and effective. Anger won't help me, or you, or anyone else." She smiled.

She saw then that he was really directing this at himself.

"Have you ever thought over what your anger achieves you? Because it's very little."

"You know that no one is thinking of me, right now, than you? They're all thinking of Alek. How bad he must feel. No, most people are done grieving for Charles, most didn't know him. The buzz of the circus is Alek."

Under her breath, so that Rickett could only hear her now if he tried, she added, "And it always has been."

"So best to get used to frustration, okay?"

She sensed that Rickett felt an argument, but Camille thought it was less than that. It was more of a... counseling, although the original purpose had been reversed.

Conrad the Clown

He grinned as Keale mounted the horse behind him. He kicked the horse's sides, and it reared up.

Conrad blew his party horn. "Tally ho! The game's afoot! And all that other palaver. Go, my mighty steed! Hahahaha!"

The horse began to trot away from the circus, and once clear, it broke into a gallop, heading towards the town, towards the Glass Court.

"I hate to spoil the surprise, but oh what the heck?" Conrad said. "I hope no one's ever taken you to the Glass Court before! Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Conrad, you roguish dashing old clown you, how on earth do you plan to get us to see the Glass Court and hobnob with all the nobles?" Well, my good friend Frankie the guardsman has secured... "invites" for us. We go way back! I helped him out of a spot of bother once, and now, if there's something I need, passwords, gates opened with no questions asked, holes dug, I know who to ask, hoo hoo hoo!"

Isabel

"Now, my wonderful traveling companions, we shall get you some new clothes as soon as we go in. I'm sure the meeting with the queen can wait. The guards would have definitely alerted her of my forceful behavior, I'm sure. It'll be a perfect time to introduce ourselves, yes?" she opened a fan and began to slowly fan herself, as if she had all the time in the world. Her face turned into a serious, dark demeanor. "You two shall understand this- I am here to learn and collect information. Nothing else. While I will help with the little things you prefer to concoct in the Glass Court, I cannot afford to be caught. Whatever you plan to do, I am but a little hostage, threatened by the very knives you hold in your sleeves. Besides," she said, her cheerful manner coming back, "I'd rather like to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Glass Court while I can. And their library."
Her gaze followed out the window, focusing on the courtyard they were passing by. "Hold in your emotions, especially you, Lysandra. A quick, small slip will easily cause the end of your life. And I, of course, will do nothing to save you. You two are not children. I expect you two to take care of yourselves, yes? Keep a hard, impenetrable mask skin tight. That is all I ask."
'Isabel' quickly disappeared and 'Lady Key' came back as a huge smile filled her pale face. "Ooh, I suspect it'll be time for our meeting soon!"
