Camille Camille sighed. Everyone else was good at something. They could sing, or they were funny, or they were great with weapons. But all I'm good for is making cloth. I'm not even the best at sewing. I don't deserve to be here. She decided then; that was the reason no one liked her, she was good for nothing. A burden on the whole community. She wasn't even smart. She continued working. This cloth was some of the prettiest she ever made, although she couldn't use it for a costume because none had been requested. Perhaps she would show it to someone in hopes of making a friend; it was shimmering red, and if the light hit it a certain way -which she reminded herself, since a body was three-dimensional, it always would- you could see a blue-ish star pattern on it: perfect for a costume. The only problem, she thought, is that I can't make the costume until I know who is going to wear it. She sighed again, and walked off in no direction in particular. |

Alek "Alek, turn on the damned lights!" a gruff voice called out. An old man sat reclined on a plush chaise longue, elegant in demeanor despite the his rather apparent failing health. His hands shook as he reached for the blanket at his feet."You're going to right ruin your eyes, boy. And what is a tailor without his eyes? A failure." Across the room, his Apprentice, Alek, waved his hand noncommittally, not pausing in his work. Alek sat submerged in an ocean of silk, thread, and assorted tools, his tie loosened, several of the top buttons undone on his shirt. His ever present jacket lay folded on a coffee table not far from his work station. "My eyes are fine. Good as day." He pulled out several pins and held them between his lips. "Besides. you know I don't like those 'electric' lights, Master. There's just something... off about them. I say we just stay clear of them," he retorted, lisping slightly due to the pins. "And you know the natural lights are just going to utterly ruin the silk," he continued, his deft hands making adjustments to his latest creation--a striking cobalt blue and silver aerialist's costume--all the while. "Posh. You haven't been working on Valeria's costume long enough for the sunlight to affect it in any way." Alek grunted. After a while, Charles continued, "You know, boy, I've noticed that you've been making her an awful lot of custom costumes these past months. Sweet on the young girl, eh?" The old man chuckled. Alek blushed red. "You've been imagining things, Master. I've only been doing my work, nothing more." "Yes. Work. Nothing more." Charles looked down, frowning. His hands furiously smoothed nonexistent wrinkles from his plush blanket. "Alek... my time is coming... I want you to be happy, even when I'm not here," he said sadly. Alek steadfastly ignored Charles morbid talk. Instead, he said, "Sound like those tigers out there are getting rowdy." Charles shook his head, but decided against commenting. He loved Alek like a son--someone needed to, because his real father wasn't showing the boy and damn affection--but he was stubborn, foolishly so. Try as they might, not much could change his mind. Charles changed the subject. "Pay attention, boy. Are you going to finish that costume or not? The show's tonight, after all. Don't tell me you can't finish this after all. What an awful Apprentice I've got." Alek puffed up, taking the bait. He pounded his chest with one hand, "I'm the best damn tailor this world's seen since Charles Alair. Of course I can do it!" "Well then, prove it." Alek nodded curtly, and sat down to resume his work. Charles smiled gently before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep, lulled by the familiar sounds of cutting and sewing. Nearly an hour later, with considerably less light, Alek finally tied the last stitch. Holding the leotard up, he smiled. "Perfect." He fumbled for a few moments, searching for a giftbox. Carefully, he wrapped the costume in tissue paper and placed it within the box. He took a long length of twine from his desk and tied the entire thing together. With a calligraphy pen, ALek wrote, "To Val. From Alek." Satisfied with his present, he then set about cleaning up. When his precious silks and threads were finally stored away in various boxes and the scraps in the rubbish bin, he walked towards the closest window and pulled the curtains back. He opened the the small window and stuck his head out. "Oi, Jeremy!" he yelled at the first person he saw. "Go get Val for me, will you. Tell her I have something for her." Without waiting for a response, Alek pulled his head back in and sat down. Within minutes, he, too was asleep, his soft snores filling the room. |

ȵicholas![]() Having just caught his own bird that he had been chasing, Nicholas turned around just in time to see Rickett put a dove back in the cage only for another to fly out. The sight caused a tight grin to spread on his face as he struggled not to just burst out laughing right there. It was a humorous sight, but since the other was helping him out, it would probably be rude to laugh, despite the growing urge to. He would have to do something to thank Rickett later. Arguably, it was the other's duty to handle the animals, but everyone here was basically family. Instead of leaving the birds flying freely around and either escaping or being eaten by a bigger animal, he was scrambling around trying to catch it instead. It was definitely something he'd have to think about later. |

Camille After wandering for half an hour, Camille started thinking about her life. The Circus used to all act like family, but everyone is so distant now. She could remember a time when people gathered around her and cooed at her-- the child she was. But her mother was alive then... It wasn't that dark out yet, but since Camille forgot her glasses, she couldn't see much, but from all the noise, she could tell she was near the animal keepers. In the old days, it wouldn't have been a problem for her to stay there, but the time is now, she reminded herself, whatever that time may be, and started on the trek back home. |

Rickett After dashing around, Rickett actually managed to catch one of the birds, and force it in the cage! He let out a laugh of proudness. He sat down on the ground, panting. He looked over to Nicholas, who had long put his bird in the cage. But sure enough, Nicholas was looking right back at him, a huge shining smile on his face. Rick laughed, for a reason he wasn't quite sure of, but whatever the reason, it was damn funny. "Oi! Look, it's Camille! Camille!" He ran after her, but, having jumping like an idiot after a dove, it wasn't quite running, but fast walking. "Are you looking for someone, need anything?" He called after her. ((this is what happens when I truly have no idea what to say.)) |

Alek A rapid succession of knocks woke him up. Bleary, he was stumbled towards the door. With a yawn, Alek yanked open the door, letting the sunshine into his precious C&P House once more, if only for a little bit. A young girl, his age, stood outside his door, hands on her hip. He motioned at her. "Inside. Hurry, before the fabrics are ruined." |

Valeria When Alek opened the door, Valeria was a bit surprised by his appearance. He must of been asleep 'cause god knows he would never let anyone see him like that. He stood in the doorway, his hair ruffled with a tired look on his face. His tie was undone down and hung loosely around his neck. The shirt he wore was even unbuttoned halfway down exposing his chest. Valeria couldn't help but think the scene would have been kinda hot if it had been anyone other than Alek standing there. Most of the girls their age in the circus thought he was the epitome of sexy but Valeria wasn't one of them. She didn't know if it was his haughty nature or what, but there was just something about him that annoyed her. After being ushered inside, she looked a him slightly aggravated. "So what did you send Jeremy to fetch me in the middle of my practice for? Make it quick cause Perin told us the other day she wanted us to come by at around dusk to get a mission and that's less than an hour away you know." |

Alek Alek yawned once more. "Ah... eh? I did?" He shook his head several times, trying to clear his foggy mind. "Uh... umm... OHOHOH! I remember now." The raggedy young man walked towards his desk and rummaged around in the mess. With a small cry of "Ah-hah~!" he pulled the prepackaged giftbox from underneath a stack of papers. Hurriedly, he shoved the box into Valeria's arms. "Wear it tonight," he told her. The two stood in silence for a bit, compelled to wage an unspoken starting contest. Alek cracked fist. His eyes started roaming all over the room. Then, for a short period, he stared intently at Charles. Eventually, he looked down at himself. It was then that he realized how utterly disheveled he looked. "AHHH! OUT, OUT, OUT! I'M NOT DECENT!" he screamed. Then, seeming to realize that his Master was still asleep on the other side of the room, Alek repeated, at a whisper, "I'm not decent." Grabbing Valeria by the arm, he escorted her from the C&P House. "You said we have to meet Piren in an hour, yes? Well, see you in an hour then. Bye-bye. Good day. Sayonara. Au revoir. Vale," he said, babbling. With that, he shoved Valeria from the room, slammed his door shut, and sank to the floor, head clutched in his hands, face red. |

Conrad the Clown Conrad gaily skipped through the grounds that the numerous tents stood on; the other workers and performers making sure to give him a wide berth. He knew the other clowns would be rehearsing their collective act now, but no, he was not amongst their recycled routine of bad jokes and slapstick. His act was pure art. He came to a stop, freezing almost comically on one leg, another raised. He swung to the side and began marching. Oh, how bored he was of this place. He almost felt like giving up, but the promise of fun, Piren's desperate lust for revenge- oh, he would really have to put a smile on her face at some point. Her life had been changed all by one bad day and she'd gone crazy, just like him, but she didn't see the funny side. Thinking about Piren's plots for revenge- he'd heard a few whispers about a mission tonight. He'd have to find out more, maybe use it. Or tag along. Or ruin it. Or help it. Eh, he'd decide later, but somehow, he would definitely get involved in it. Or maybe not- That reminded him. He really had to get some new shoes. |

Pretty Tyrant
|
Megumi Megumi braided her hair carefully, humming. She had woken up a tad early just to focus on a specific task: look pretty. She wanted to go play around a little bit with people since she didn't know anybody here -- well, she didn't know them enough at least. She smiled and stood up, turning around herself to check how beautiful her hair was. Today, she was definitely going to make an impression. She frowned. She realized she hadn't applied her make-up yet. Or even prepared what she would wear. What was the point of having such a cute hairstyle if people were going to start awing at the penguins on her pajama? She moved to her closet. "Heh. I have an idea." She picked up a pair of pants, a shirt and a male jacket. All of them were slightly bigger than herself, meant to conceal her feminine forms ( Who would want to be cute when you could wreak an havoc? She put on the clothes, changed her hair into a pony tail. Finally, as she looked at her mirror, she nodded in satisfaction. She looked like a boy but feminine enough to throw people off. She smiled wickedly. "Oh dear, this is going to be fun." Then, she walked out of her tent, ready to meet the Circus' members. Edited by Megumi, Apr 20 2011, 03:43 PM.
