Caedmon Gripping his hilt, he suppressed the urge to sever his brother's own head. It would be so easy- just a quick flick of his wrist and... Ooops. He allowed himself the slightest smirk. All he did was drag the Veritas name through the mud- dinging it with some useless escapades, and then falling for -of all the things- a circus wench- the distaste it left in his mouth! "Of course I'm in a mood, you misbegotten half demon." He seethed at his brother. "One gets put in a mood when they have to deal with you and your sorry sack of bastards-" Oh damn that other accusing 'lady'. "This sad sack of acidic venom is not my brother." He snarled, his teeth clenched and regarding Leonard with the look one would save for a child murderer. Further enraged by his brother's remarks- and Victoria and her smug smirk- he flicked out his blade. Pointing it at Leonard, he said through clenched teeth, "Something's eaten at me since it was born. Be thankful I have not yet attacked you, you raucous piece of horse shit." Angerly, he glared at him for seconds before spitting at his brother's feet, and slammed his sword back into it's sheath "And you, Victoria... You'd best watch where you stick that unwanted little nose of yours. I'm liable to chop it off." He turned on his heel, shouting over his shoulder, "I also happen to not need 'watched over' by a bastard or a woman." With that, he sharply turned the corner. Piren "I want you to be happy. I'll do whatever it takes to make that happen." This snapped Piren out of her wallowing. Immediately stopping her tears, she hugged Zane closer, her fingers tangling in his hair as she did so. She then immediately pulled away, the strong mask back up as she turned to walk another direction. Turning back, she gave him a wry smile, patting the side of his face. They wouldn't speak of this in the days to come, only perhaps a shared glance, a moment stored in their memories like the ones before it. No one would know, no one would mention it... it was just a quiet moment never to haunt them again. Never to be spoken of, the soft seconds wasted away to nothingness and they both knew; someday it would all seem normal again. At that, she turned around and stormed off, Zane again in tow as she headed for the guard's house. |

Victoria Victoria gave a small laugh at Caedmon's threat. "Oh? I'd like to see you try," she replied before he walked off. There was just something so comical abut seeing Caedmon annoyed. Then, turning to Leonard, she gave the man a false smile. "Well, seems your bother is as pleasant as always." she told him, sarcastically. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm afraid I have more important things to do. I would say its been a pleasure seeing you, but that would be a lie now, wouldn't it." She walked off down the hall and with a wave of her hand, remarked "Be sure to keep an eye on that little demon spawn of yours, Daemon. Rumor has it he was seen snooping around near the circus last night. Id love to know what business he might of had there." "I may just go and see for myself" she stated under her breath as she left the hall Zane Zane followed in tow behind Piren. He felt relieved to see her back to her usual self, the strong woman everyone in the circus had come to know. He had a feeling she would need that strength in the days to come. Something told him that Charles' death was just the beginning of a series of troublesome events to come. However, he kept this dreaded feeling to himself, not wanting to stir up an necessary anxiety. That was the last thing the circus needed at the moment, and Piren as well. As they neared the guard's house, he spotted Jasper, the head guard, standing outside leaning against a post. Zane put on a grin and waved at him. God knows how busy the man was gonna be after this. "Hey Jasp. How ya been? Don't be happy to see us. Your ass is about to get really busy." |

Leonard "Something's eaten at me since it was born. Be thankful I have not yet attacked you, you raucous piece of horse shit." "Tsk, tsk," Leonard said, shaking his head. He shifted as if to turn, but didn't actually move to face Caedmon directly. As much as Leonard loved to play - Caedmon's anger could be so, so amusing at times - he wasn't really interested today. At the moment, Leonard was trying to stop himself from scowling. Why exactly hadn't his brother ever gotten anger management? "You should watch your language, you know," he continued. "You're making the Court such an unpleasant place." Oh, the irony. The Court had to be one of the most unpleasant places Leonard had ever been. With all the lousy nobles who paraded as if they absolutely adored their queen and then gossiped about her behind her back. It was disgusting. Leonard truly loved the queen. She was sinister - anyone who was cunning and sadistic, like Leonard himself, could tell another of their kind easily. And so Leonard served her. Whatever the lovely queen needed, he would give, so long as it didn't interfere with his own plans. He didn't appreciate it when his brother spat at his feet, and almost kicked Caedmon for it, but decided he had better things to do. Like check up on Daemon as Victoria had said. The people of the cirque were not to e associated with - Leonard had learned his lesson and had learned it well. The stupid wench who'd taken his fondness for her for granted... Oh, he was certain she'd learned not to mess with him. No, the cirque was only good for one thing, and that was whatever they showed use for. If Daemon was wasting his time away there because he liked it there, well, Leonard would just have to beat the idea out of him. And that was just what he planned to do. |

Conrad the Clown "Thank you, Frankie!" He shouted as they passed through the open gate. According to what the corrupt guardsman had told him, he'd have a mostly clear route with minimum hindrance. The horse went on, crashing through an open back entrance into the palace. They passed a woman who'd been leaving a hall, another pair of nobles who looked like they might be brothers, and all had looked utterly shocked by the absurdity of it all. Conrad could've sworn those brothers would've drawn weapons if they hadn't gone right by. "Stop!" cried a trio of guards, rifles raised as they guarded the last door before the main court. "Stop you-" Conrad threw one of the many things he'd pilfered from Pipkins' tent. A bomb. The nobles inside shrieked as an explosion took out one of the doors into the court and a man and a girl on a white horse burst through the smoke. Most irritatingly for Conrad, the Masked Queen was not present. Conrad hopped down from the horse amidst the startled nobles. Another pair of guards rushed over to no doubt accost him, and from the flower on his lapel, a jet of liquid was fired at each. Judging by the hissing as they screamed and clutched at their faces, tumbling to the ground, it was acid. "Don't look too upset, you might develop a wonderful tan," said Conrad, sauntering over the guards. One was struggling to stay on his feet, so he kicked him in the shin, sending him down. "Just like I did." Keale still sat upon the horse. "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Is it morning? I'm not sure." Conrad checked his watch, revealing it to be a sundial strapped around his wrist. "Huh. Thing must be broken again. Well, I am today's entertainment and news, all wrapped into a little fun-sized purple package. Just a couple of questions. Where is the Masked Queen? And could someone tell her to join us? I wanted to have a little chat with her over tea and cakes." |

Laverna and Galen a.k.a. Lysandra and Griffith Laverna wouldn't wait for him to make the first move, so she moved to the destroyed carriage remains, and shuffled through it, looking for.....something. Her hand felt a rectangular object covered in smoldering wood. She grinned. Heh. Found it, suckers~ She shuffled her hand around to find the handle, and pulled out a box, only slightly singed. Rather large, but not too heavy. If it gets tiresome to hold, I'll just have Gale lug it around. She smirked at the thought. "I apologize for such trouble, sir of the Court. But I have a package to deliver to the queen." She said with a bow, waving the case around. She snapped open the locks, and opened the box, but only a crack, just enough to fit her hand in. Wouldn't want everyone to see the gifts. She pulled out a smoke bomb, lit it, and rolled it across the floor, the room becoming heavily fogged. Laverna grabbed Griffith's arm and they dashed out the nearest exit, leaving Isabel, her guard, and the other man fumbling in the smoke. Selina Silence. Eliminate threats. Silence the noise. Selina heard a faint hiss in the direction of the main gates. One floor below, A pair of double doors were flung open, and a girl and boy fled from a room full of smoke. Source of noise? Eliminate. She leaped over the balcony, landing before them, cracking the floor beneath her with the impact. Laverna, Gale, and Selina THUD. CRACK. A thunderous crack sounded as the floor beneath them separated. Their eyes widened with shock as a girl landed before them. As the dust cleared they got a good look at her. Her movements were strange, jerky, unnatural. She had oddly colored eyes that seemed to glow in the dust. She wore a demented smile, her clothes were strange. But strangest of all, she wasn't affected by the impact at all. They stepped back a pace or two, and Laverna raised her gun at the girl's head, and shot. Gale looked at her, shocked. "La--Lysandra!! What did yo-..." Before he could finish, there was a maniacal laugh. He turned to look at the girl. Her face was only scratched. "Hehe....too predictable. Be....FASTER!" She said, and lunged at Laverna. Gale leaped into action, slamming into Selina. They fell to the ground wrestling. Selina overcame Gale, and held him down by his throat. She raised her dagger, poised to strike. This time, Laverna was the hero, shoving Selina over and grabbing the dagger. She stabbed the cloth of her shirt, pinning her to the ground. Galen got up, rubbing his throat. Laverna continued securing the girl to the ground with more daggers, and the two ran off, not looking back. Selina struggled against the knives. by the time she had freed herself, the two were long gone. She stood, brushing herself off. Too lazy to run, she followed after them at a slow pace. There is no escape from the Devil's Child of Leifar*. she thought with a grin. [* = see backstory for more info] |

Isabel and Legailius She watched as Laverna dropped a smoke bomb, and left with Gale. "Oh, my. How sweet. They went to present the Queen a present, I see. I have changed my mind. I shall go and pay the Queen a visit after all." Legailius grabbed Isabel and they jumped, quickly disappearing from sight. "My lady," he whispered, "please do be carefully. Master will be displeased to see you die from such a weak opponent." She sighed. "Indeed, he would. I have forgotten about that. He did only care about winning, I suppose. Is that the motto of the Lebasi family, perhaps?" quietly chuckling, she threw a vial into the smoke, its cap gone. "Enjoy my lovely poison, Daemon. It is one of my few specialty ones. Have a nice little nap, yes?" |

Piren "Jasper. You and your men, double shifts. Heavy patrols." She stated as she hurried over to them. "We've got someone around stealing things, and I want double patrols on my tent and I'll need a changing shift of guards for a storage room. Whatever extra weapons are lying around, I want them gathered. We're locking them up in that storage room you're posting guards at. I want to know who has their weapons and where they have them at all times." Piren then turned again, going off to handle the plethora of other things, while weaving through a pile of children playing in a group. One was playing hopscotch, her frilly blue dress bouncing up and down as she sang, " Was there one you saw too clearly, Did they seem too real to you? They were kids that I once knew; They were kids that I once knew~" Piren only gave her a second glance as she continued on to her next task, Zane still in tow, the poor man. |

Rickett Rickett didn't know what to say. No, he really didn't know what say. So much, he just didn't say anything. At all. He had been proved wrong in about 5 different ways, by a eleven year old girl, that probably had the same, if not more, brain power than himself. But, this wasn't what left him speechless. He really wanted to prove her wrong. But, he couldn't. Because, in all the ways he wanted to reject what he said, he couldn't. Because, in a sense it was right. I am so childish! It seems like I'm trying to be sympathetic! And noting else shall be copied down, because it is merely him repeating how stupid he is. He nodded. Then shook his head, and put his hand on his forehead.. Then nodded again, and put it back by his side. Then sighed, and merely answered to the fabulous statement said by Camille: "I don't know." ((the product of not posting, and having no idea what to write, and Blight poking me to post IRL, and watching Oprah while I was posting, even though I don't like Oprah, and.......Yeah, I just said it, I don't like Oprah!.....I am really distracted. |

Camille Camille recognized a look in Rickett's eye. He fidgeted. Definitely uncomfortable. "Of course you don't," Camille said, although she knew she was spouting nonsense, "No one does, right?" She grabbed his arm, bringing him back to wear she worked, "Now," she said, "We had a deal, yes?" She smiled at Rickett's confused look, "You know, I was going to make you a nice new costume, and I do think you had an end to that deal too." She pretended that she forgot what that was. Rickett already looked uncomfortable, and Camille didn't know if it would be proper to ask him to brush her hair or anything at a time like this. But she would do anything... ANYTHING to stick to what she said, and not get angry at nobody. After all, being sad and angry will never accomplish anything at all. |

(I'll post as Asher+Mattis in a little while.) Wright Wright took the end of his top hat and raised it just so as polite greeting. The grin on his face faded slightly as his eyes cast downward. "Seems like things are going to hell," he sighed. He scratched the hair underneath his hat and continued, "Charles was murdered. You know Alek, the lad, the man's old servant. People say Alek considered Charles his father, or the most of a father he ever had. He's in bad shape. Problem is, Alek already has his hands full with a homicidal brother that's run loose on Circus grounds. They say his name's Daemon." Wright clicked his tongue, "Not to mention Valeria was injured at this kid's hand. Now, Valeria and Alek are in no shape to go after Charles' murderer or Daemon. I'm afraid that if we leave em' to their own devices, they'll run off. So, Arthur, you're going to have to do a bit of babysitting. Take those two anywhere you like. Keep them sane, and keep them quiet. That's all I ask." Ramine Arthur -that odd man with the hair braid; the fire tamer. Of course Ramine knew him. They had a way of running into one another, and Ramine had a way of giving Arthur brisk hellos and short replies if they spoke. If she tried anything otherwise, Ramine feared she'd make a fool of herself. Besides, keeping her relationships at an arm's length was never a bad thing. However, today, Arthur was the one who blundered, although Ramine didn't realize she'd fallen until her tailbone hit the dusty ground. By the time Arthur took her by her hand and pulled her up, she was only able to register it halfway. How long had she been on the ground, five seconds? She blinked as she watched Arthur nod his head and bow...where on earth did his manners come from? Ramine, certainly, was not a person that was bowed to. She looked away, not meeting his eyes, and mumbled softly, "Really, you don't have to-" Her voice was cut by Wright's call, and of all the luck, he wanted Arthur! As Arthur looked up, Ramine stepped back, and, with a slight grin on her face, she took off toward the tents; not that she could escape so easily. "SORRY I KNOCKED YOU DOWN, RAMINE." Ramine's back prickled as her face quickly turned pink behind a blue tent flap. Her luck could only last for so long. It didn't matter that the entire Circus heard -she could care less about that. As she glanced back at Arthur for a small moment -seconds, really- she reminded herself, again, that a relationship at an arm's length was a good relationship indeed. But as she walked, there was something that could hold the girl's curiosity, despite her shy demeanor, despite everything; the crowd of people outside the C&P house and the bolted set of doors. Ramine ducked behind a barrel and watched people come and go, talking quickly...nervously. Now what could that be? |
