Piren

He took her hand gently, carefully pulling the pieces of Tatwu's skull from her knuckles with his usual caring lecture about being more well thought out in her actions. If Piren had been just the slightest more off her rocker, she would have told Zane to prove it would be fine and move forward with her, in the sense that they might have moved forward as teenagers. Alas, though, quite that put off by it, she was not. Piren had just an ounce too much rational sense in her head to act on anything like that.

Still, the thrill and dull tingle in her hand as he carefully handled it was one most certainly not from blood loss. For the moment, as he was too busy looking at her hand, Piren did allow her mind to wander, as senseless as it seemed, into more irrational, emotional things. Piren, in moments of horrible realizations, tended to retreat within herself and think and ponder the most outlandish things until she felt she could shut off her personal feelings on subjects to handle them, and then she would come again to the real world.

She wondered what it would be like to run her hand across his six' o' clock shadow of stubble, the soft supple feel of her skin and his, the little bite of roughness pressing back on her fingertips. His fingers would no doubt be just as gentle and firm as they were now, tracing her shoulder and collarbone, running up her neck and around the back of her head when he would get the picture and pull her close. His other hand would slip around her waist- Zane wasn't the sort of man to lean into a kiss, he'd pull her close, no doubt.

His breath would be hot against her face, and would tilt her head back and lean backwards , pulling her onto his chest and kissing her. Whether he'd be as needy as she would be on the subject, well that wasn't a detail she'd speculate on. Should he ever kiss her, after the shock, lord forbid she think on that realistically, Piren would no doubt drag him into a room, lock the door, and not emerge for days.

Piren gently pulled her hand from him. That's right, she shouldn't let those things bother her. He reached for Zane with her one hand, running her thumb on his stubble-speckled jaw. She ran the pad of her thumb along it a few more times, mentally tossing out the thought to kiss him. She leaned in, her actions precisely that if kissing him, almost. In fact, on autopilot, that's what Piren wanted to do. as she pulled Zane in, she almost - almost- did kiss him. She paused before she would tilt her head normally, for a second she didn't breath, but she felt his own breath on her face, softer, more careful, as though he were trying to control something, and pushed out the last strings of fantasy-driven action and turned her head to the side. So close was she to kissing him, that as she hugged him, the skin of her cheekbone scrapped along his jaw as she fairly clung to him, her chin resting on his shoulder.

She tried to quiet the hyperactive beating of her heart against her rubs- that made it hard to breath or think- and closed her eyes. She buried her head in his neck, grazing her lips in a feather touch to the soft skin of his neck- just enough he'd know she brushed her lips on his neck, but not enough that he could think it was purposeful. She scooted closer to him, for a moment even considered crawling on his lap, curling in and going to sleep there, but the crunch of bones just proved how highly unrealistic a goal sleep was. Piren wouldn't think about if this hurt him, if it made his heart fairly bruise his ribs or like she was ripping it out and squeezing it with her own hand, because frankly, Piren wanted to be jealous with at least one person in her life, and that was with Zane.

Piren gave a sigh. "I suppose I'll have to organize a cleanup crew." She monotoned, too tired to make herself sound energetic or driven, "But this mess will certainly take quite a bit to work out."

Zane

Zane felt bewildered as Piren ran her thumb across across jaw. Was she merely trying to point out he hadn't shaved today or was there something more to it? The feeling of confusion was soon placed with that of tension. He could feel his body on edge as she continued to trace his jawline, her fingers cool and soft to the touch. Such a small tease from her, even unintentional, was dangerous for he always had to fight to hold himself back.

As she leaned toward him, his heart quickened and he worked to control his breathing. In Zane's eyes, it looked almost as if she was about to kiss him. But that was simply his own emotions, deceiving him into perceiving something that wasn't true. She couldn't possibly want to. She had and always would love Tatwu, not him. Even as he told himself this, he was struggling to control himself. Her face was now so close to his that he could feel the light touch of her breath against his skin. He wanted nothing more than to cease the longing he felt for her, to wrap his hands around her waist, to pull her tightly against him and kiss her.

Zane felt like he was nearing his last line of control when she moved her head to the side to hug him instead. This managed to calm him somewhat, but only for a second as her cheek brushed against his. His breath hitched slightly as she buried her face in his neck. Her lips brushed softly against his skin and sent small chills through him. Was it intentional, accidental or both? Zane didn't know and it was killing him softly inside. He wanted to know, to see if she wanted him as much as he wanted her. And she moved closer into the hug, Zane only hopped she couldn't feel how rapid his heart was, how controlled and soft his breathing had become.

She broke the tension he felt by talking about cleaning the place up. Zane allowed a small sigh of relief to escape him. He pulled away from her hug and nodded, taking in her face. She looked as beautiful of ever to him, but her stress and lack of sleep was evident. Acting without thinking, he moved a stray strand of hair along her face behind her ear, allowing his fingers to brush lightly against her cheek, and then kissed her forehead. He wanted to punch himself for it after he moved away, hoping she would think of it as nothing more than a caring and friendly gesture.

"I'll take care of the cleanup. You've been going for days and you cant keep this up. If you do, you're gonna make yourself sick," he told her, working to keep his voice even and natural. "Go and get some sleep, Piren. You need it."

He then smiled reassuringly. She needed rest and he wasn't going to allow her to work herself to death over everything that happened the past few days. The circus would manage perfectly fine for a few hours without her. There we're people here who could make sure of that. "Consider this doctor's orders. If you dont, I'll throw you in a room and lock you there till you do. I and a few others can handle things well enough around here while you do. "

Piren

She gave him a tired smile as she shivered. Piren really, really was too exhausted to even protest any longer. "Fine." She yawned, not thinking twice about what he had done. "I'll sleep on one condition." She gave him another tired smile "When I get up, regardless of the shape the circus is in... you and I will have some fun. Like before Tatwu. When we were burden less teenagers." She gave another yawn. "It's about time I take your advice, and stop carrying the world on my shoulders."

With every word she felt like she was lifting every burden of those scraps of paper off her shoulders, like for the first time she had decided to live than run. Maybe it really was fine to take an easy day. Maybe that's what she needed to prevent giving up.

Piren curled up on Zane's lap, her fingers undoing the tie at the side of his shirt, and wrapping it around the both of them without a word, trapping all of Zane's warmth around her body, her skin and his, pressed together. She pulled her knees up to her chest and ducked her head under his chin. Within seconds she looped her arms around his waist, and after another two or three seconds that lasted for forever, Piren's breathing had evened out, much unlike the sound of Zane's heartbeat that had lulled her to sleep.

And then, Piren was sound, sound asleep.

Caedmon

He roamed along the halls until he heard the distressed moans of yet another tutor from Aria's chambers. He gave a sigh. No doubt she was wandering off with that fool Asher and his disgusting violin. If only she'd give an ounce more thought to how she came off, but truly, what was she, aside a little girl playing dress up in her mother's court?

That's right, it was truly a miracle she had survived this long, but the louder her little rebellions got, the slimmer her chance would be- the slimmer anyones chance would be. Caedmon hated no one more than Leeahlee, and frankly Aria would be the only one he could present as her replacement should he sense others boiling for an uprising as he himself was.

He quickly darted out a few exits, taking a roundabout way so that he might come out in front of them more easily. As soon as he saw her rounding the corner, he darted out and grabbed her hand, pulling her back to his chest and slipping his arm firmly around her silver of a waist. Flicking his formal rapier out languidly, almost casually, he rested the tip of it at Asher's throat, pressing slightly until a bead of ruby blood trickled down his neck and shirt.

"I'd be more careful stealing Aria away, boy." He growled, "We wouldn't want trouble." He smirked, "And this, should you be to idiotic to realize it, will be trouble if you pursue us any further." He unceremoniously tossed Aria over his shoulder, and headed back into the castle

Zane

Why she had felt the need to curl up in his lap, to wrap his shirt around the both of them, he could only wonder. It had surprised him a bit to say the least. Yet even still, he felt strangely at ease, comfortable even. The soft sound of her breathing told him she was asleep. He chuckled a bit. For her to fall asleep so quickly, she had to of been tired beyond imagination.

Scooping her up princess style, he made his way off towards her tent to place her in bed. She looked so calm, so at peace while she was sleeping, unlike the Piren he had come to see daily. How he wished she could feel that way every day. For her to no longer carry the weight of the circus, the stress of trying to avenge Tatwu. It was one thing he truly wanted for her. He would do anything to give her that.

He then thought about what Piren had said. She would sleep on the condition that they would have some fun once she woke, like they had in their teenage years. He wondered what could have happened to make her suggest that. Normally she was all work and no play, so why the sudden change?

Walking into her tent, he placed her gently down on her cot and placed a blanket over her. He was happy to finally see her getting some much needed rest. Brushing his fingers softly across her cheek, as if not realizing what he was doing, he bent down and kissed her lightly on the lips. He pulled away feeling surprised at himself, to be in such a daze he allowed himself that one pleasure while she was sleeping. However, he grinned a bit. The fact remained that she was, in fact, asleep and she would never be none the wiser to it.

Zane then walked out of the tent, readying himself to get to work on cleaning up the circus.

Piren & Pipkins

Piren was curled up in her blankets, far away from the world in a deep embrace of ghosts as she curled into her blankets, none the wiser of the world around her.

Pipkins noticed as he walked by, the soft way Zane kissed Piren. He quickly ran out of the way and hid when Zane emerged, but only seconds later he ran into the man, unable to keep the blush spreading up his face. It wasn't that his mom was moving on- no, that made Pipkins happy, and he'd do what he had to help her be happy again- but Pipkins had the sad feeling that he would once look at Zane and ask him, "Uncle, did you sleep with Ma?" The thought was not appealing, and frankly to ever utter that sentence went against his vow to actually escape a relatively unscathed individual from this circus of hell.

"Um.. uh..." Pipkins blinked as it came tumbling out, "You like Ma, don't you? You always did, I think, or Ma would have noticed a difference-" He quickly shut his yap and then grinned. You know what? If that made her happy, it wasn't his place to comment, was it?

He gave Zane a hug and a clap on the shoulder. "That's awesome, man. Just take care of her or I'll blow you up to little pieces." He was only half kidding. He nervously ran his fingers through his hair, glanced at the bones on the ground that people were already cleaning up, and kicked a skull across the pile.

... Nah, he wasn't asking why this was happening, it was, it was gross, and the bones wouldn't be annoying after they were gone.

He pulled a bomb out of his vest, tweaking it. "If you want to talk, I'm always there, but talking about her ass should be saved for the bar buddies. I'm not liable to agree there." He walked over to a stool and squatted on it. Activating the bomb, he tossed it out and with a small boom- like that of a gunshot, really- blue mist swirled out low to the ground and the highly acidic liquid started to dissolve the bones.

"Cool, it works!" He said, beginning to build another.

Zane

Zane gaped at Pipkins. How in the world had he been able to figure all that out? Zane was certain he had been careful over the years, not to let any sign of affection towards her show. And yet, how was it Pipkins had been able to deduce this much?

Following Pipkins to the stool, Zane crossed his arms and plastered a look of ignorance on his face. He needed to down these suspicions of his. If Pipkins knew, all hell would break loose. That Zane was sure of. "Pip, I'm not quite sure I know what you're taking about. Me, like your mother? That's ridiculous. I'm your father's brother not to mention her friend for over twenty years. I think you're delusional. Besides, why would I talk to you about any relationships?"

Zane wondered if Pipkins had seen him carrying Piren into the tent. He had been shirtless at the time carrying her princess style. Is that where he could have came up with his assumptions? "If this is about me carrying your mother into her tent, its because she fell asleep on me. It was nothing more, nothing less. So wipe these foolish notions from your head, boy."

Zane hoped that Pipkins listen what he was saying. However, like his mother, he never seemed to fully believe anyone's words and was always determined to get to the bottom of things once he had his mind set on something.

Pipkins

He gave Zane a deadpan glare. "I'm a genius." He began tweaking his bomb again, giving his undivided attention to assuring all the nicks and knacks were lined up properly. "And I have photographic evidence." He shrugged and pulled pictures out of his vest, showing them to Zane.

"I suspected, but I saw you kiss Ma just now." He shrugged one shoulder noncommittally. "And I figured since no one else seems pushing you two together, you probably haven't told anyone." He paused a moment, carefully turning his bomb and attaching a wire firmly to it's spot.

"So I figured you like Ma, never told anyone, you might like to, and, you know, eventually get Ma. Ma loves you quite a bit, y'know." He shrugged. "Plus, I feel ornery. Just admit it. You love Ma, right?"

Zane

Zane's eyes widened as he stared at the pictures dumbfounded. He had been caught, and by his own nephew at that. Did he carry around a camera on him all the time or something?

Zane narrowed his eyes. "For how long have you been taking these things?" he asked as he took the pictures from Pipkins and began sorting through them. The pictures Pipkins had were evidence he couldn't disprove. And there wasn't just pictures of him kissing Piren, but pictures of when he had given her all-knowing smiles, hugged her, brushed hair from her face. It was almost as if every little affectionate act had been cemented in black and white before him.

Zane was ready to tow Pipkins off when his next words surprised him. 'Ma loves you quite a bit, y'know.'

Looking at his nephew now red in the face, Zane gave a sigh. "You know, you really shouldn't spy on people. Its rude. And even if I do love your mother, what makes you think she loves me?"

Rickett

Rickett tilted his head a bit to see Camille's hands sew. Her entire body seemed to losen up when she sewed. There was a strange beat the she found, that almost made her seem to be in a trance. But, it wasn't a normal trance, like the one some people, like him, get in the ring. It was different, it wasn't in her mind, or only her fingertips, but she seemed to involve her entire body when she sewed. It was sorta magical that way. Rickett wished he could do that, when he got in the ring, he thought everything, and then he body automatically did it. Rickett realized, Camille didn't need to preform in the circus to have a special skill. Her skill was amazing, and well, he thought a bit that she was better at her skill that he was at his.

It took him a second to register her question, as it normally took him to respond to anything, because he got lost in his thoughts often. "Oh, um, the length. I will be touching the animals, so I it shouldn't get in the way that much. So maybe shorter? Or all the way off? Nah, It'll get cold in the winter, and the animals notice like that if you are uncomfortable." He said, and snapped his finger when he said 'like that'. "Oh, I forgot to mention it before. The animals are sensitive to whatever I feel, so we should have something a bit comfortable, if you know what I mean. So, maybe a 3/4 length? Oh, or maybe a vest?"

He could not focus on what he was saying. What he was saying it didn't seem to measure up to what she was doing. The way she worked with the needle.....and to think about it, using a needle is hard right? It's pointy, and hurts if you poke yourself with it. Yet, her fingers seemed to dainty and perfect, if she had been sewing for her whole life, why weren't they blisters, with calluses all over, like his hands. He looked down at his own hands. Right, so different from hers. His skin was even a bit tanner than his was. And, her hand were so small. like he could fit his whole fist around them. It was weird. He wondered if his hands were ever that small.

"Or do you not like 3/4s or vest or.....what would you rather sew, you're the one making it."

Pipkins

Pipkins chuckled at Zane. Sometimes Zane and his mother were just stupid, stupid, stupid. He left Zane sit there, the pink flush to his cheek blatant, as Pipkins just built away at the bomb in his lap. Pipkins Shared many of Tatwu's mannerisms- The all knowing smirk and penchant for blackmail, the meddling, but when Pipkins sat on a chair, one leg pulled up to his chest with his arm leaning on it, expertly moving along the machinery- Pipkins looked exactly like Tatwu's son.

"I dunno how to say it. You..." Pipkins paused a moment, puzzling over how his mother spoke to him and her mood swings "... You took over where Pa left off, y'know? You're more like Pa to me than anyone else, and Ma would trust you with the world."
