November 27th.
London, England.
8:30 AM.

Gabrielle
It was a normal morning, a white thick snow covered the shelter. However, St.Evellyne was not a common shelter, the children here had powers. Greed filled the people that knew of them, however, those who, by their greed, tried to use the children for own purposes had death as their destiny.
Inside the shelter, Gabrielle was already awake, she was just staring at the snow in the gardens. The girl sighed.
Common cold day, same shelter
That's what she always thought. Among the children, she was one with an unknown goal.
Gabrielle turned around to find Lady Claire looking through the window in her office. A mysterious look painted on her face. Gabrielle wondered what might be happening.
She turned around again to find some children, and with a grin, she said.
"Good Morning"
((any who wants to be children who talk with Gabrielle?))

Lady Claire
Old kind Lady Claire was in her office staring at nothing in particular, a suspicious look on her face. In this shelter, most of the children were mean. No doubt of it. However, her beloved children were her chess pieces. She would move them as she pleased until the words "Check Mate" were said.
With a deep sigh, she sat down and started to read a novel, until she was interrupted by someone, knocking the door.
"You may come in".
She said as she stared at the door...

Mordecai Cromwell

"Stop, cabman."

The horse drawn cab slowed as the driver brought the horses to a stop. "You'll be getting off 'ere, sir?"

Mordecai turned his head, looking at the building the cab had stopped in front of. St. Evellyne's Shelter. He was tempted to leave the cab now, but no, now was not the time. He'd waited years, what was the point of squandering that away for the sake of cutting some days or weeks before the end?

"Continue, cabman."

The cabbie started the horses once more, mumbling under his breath about strange customers.

Mordecai slipped his hand into his pocket, removing a letter, written in dark ink and from the handwriting, by a child. He read the letter from his "informant", allowing a dark smile to appear on his face.

The winds of change were indeed rising.

For now, he only had to wait.

Alethea

Sitting alone on the window pane in one of the many vacant bedrooms that the shelter had not come to use of yet, Alethea looks out the glass watching the quiet, vacant town grounds.

*Sigh*

Slowly becoming bored she cautiously slid off of what seemed like a shelf 100 feet high. She dragged her tiny feet to where her bed was conveniantly less than 5 feet away.

Picking up her stuffed bear she hugged and whispered in its ear "Want to go exploring, Mr. Mort?" She lugged the bear that was nearly her size off the bed and wandered throughout the dark depths of the hallways.

{Etoile}

Hungry.

I am so hungry.

It wasn't such a long journey, only about an hour and a half long, but to Etoile the trip seemed to have taken forever.

"A young woman travelling alone...!"
"Such a thing - !"
"Improper!"

She was quite amazed at the number snotty noblemen who scoffed at her as her coach passed through the streets of London.
In her hometown, people call London "the largest, most spectacular city in the world."
As children, she and her friends would pretend to be London folks, acting all fancy and rich.
But being the city firsthand, all that she could see wa`s the unbelievable poverty...and filth.

GROWWWWLLLL

...but right now, she was hungry.

She quickly gathered her things and entered the gates of St. Evellyne's.
As she was approaching the entrance, she noticed that the door was unlocked.

knock, knock. no reply.

"hello?" she called out. still no reply.

"Well...I'm going in!" she said as she moved inside, "I did knock!"

Suspicious. She thought as she walked through the hallways. This place was supposed to be housing children, but she was yet to meet one. "Oh well", she shrugged, "they must be playing...or something."

GROWWWWLLLL.

Her stomach continued to rebel against her, "I wonder where the owner's room is...Oh! there it is!"

At the end of the hallway was a door with an engraved nameplate that read "Claire Evellyne Blaylock". How Convenient.

She quickly straightened herself and briskly knocked on the door. "You may come in", a voice replied.

She turned the knob and entered the room.

"Good Morning, Lady Claire. I'm Etoile du Ciel, The new Visual Arts teacher. Your front door was unlocked, that's dangerous!"

Irina Sidha.

“Michael—“ she gasped.

Candid. Gullible. The girl was overwhelmed by a naïve charm, yet there was something quaint about her. Innocent. Delicate. She went at a quick, yet odd walk. She was trudging along the corridor, hastily, awkwardly. Clumsy. Artless. She drew in breath laboriously, hardly, as she hurried up.

That was Irina Sidha. She was a harmless, rather feeble young girl, running along the hallways of the Shelter. At first sight, there was nothing wrong with her, other than her wavy hair, which it had been previously dyed green and the fact that she looked slightly malnourished. Nonetheless, the later factor wasn’t difficult to find in any child her age, who lived in the same conditions as she did, being it was the roof of a Shelter the one she lived under.

However, there was only one name she’d repeat, as she strode along the hallways of the St. Evellyne Shelter.

“Michael, Michael—“Irina mumbled, as she heaved.

Michael Sidha —it was the name of her beloved brother, alter all—. What was odd about Irina was that she was way too attached to this brother of hers. She was fond of him to an extent it seemed pretty sick. They both had dyed their hair green, they both shared rooms. They were too close, in fact. And, while she ran along the hallways, the only person she could devote herself to in her thoughts was no one but her big brother.

Actually, she was running an errand for him – though it wasn’t a big thing either. She just needed to get some medicines for him from the headmistress. However, when she encountered a lofty, exalted woman, whose sinuous muscles glided beneath the sleek and graceful dress, as she walked in the office, glow flickered through Irina’s eyes for an instant. It was the first time she had met this woman.

Upon such an unusual encounter, Irina hemmed and hawed whether to step forward or not. However, she quickly popped in the room, and tried uttering the following words as her voice faltered:

“Pardon me for the intrusion, Lady Claire!”

Michael Sidha

He opened his eyes slowly, feeling the dull pain in his head. Looked like he wasn't able to sleep for the most of the night again. Taking a deep breathe, Michael stared at the ceiling, waiting for the pain to become weak enough to let him stand up from the bed.

He looked around, noticing that Irina - his precious little sister - wasn't in the room anymore. It wasn't too surprising, after all she could go to check about the breakfast or visit the bathroom. There wasn't a reason to worry. Michael closed his eyes, trying to relax a little. Maybe people were right and he was overprotective about his sister, but...

...but he couldn't stop.

After all, Irina was the only one person important to him. No one else. Only her.

With a sigh he finally decided to leave the warm and comfy bed and go to look around for his sister: she was out for soome time already, so he started to worry. So, after putting his clothes on, Michael opened the door of the room which he shared with his sister and walked out.

I wonder, where she could go,,,

Alethea

Wandering throughout the outskirts of the room in which she slept, Alethea struggled to hold her (what seemed like) a 3 ton teddy bear and the end of her dress, having experience of tripping so often.

Traveling throughout the shelter she began to notice the light becoming dimmer and dimmer.

She couldn't see.

Hugging her bear she wandered even further and deeper into St. Evellyn.

"I-I can't see." she said peering around.

Looking behind herself she noticed she could not see the light in which she was guided anymore.

I-I'm lost.

Being the scaredy cat she was, Alethea sat in a corner using Mr. Mort as a shield.

"S-someone will find me."

As she finished that sentence she heard the sound of footsteps coming toward her.

Paralyzed with fear, Alethea shivered and squeezed her bear. "P-please, d-don't come any further spirit!" she cried.

Looking up out of a tiny space that wasn't covered by her Bear-Shield she noticed a man. No, not a man. A boy.

She slowly and hesitantly lowered the bear from her face. Looking up she noticed something unusual.

She studied the boy-figure, not letting her guard down.

A spirit with green hair?

Colette Victors

Colette allowed herself to look through the thick windows at the wintery morning outside. The sun was bright, the snow soft, and if she had been a child, she might've played out in the streets like some small urchin. But the time for that was long gone.

Despite the early hour, she was already working, diligently reading over essays that had been assigned to the some of the older children. Her nose wrinkled, one had left fingerprints and ink blots all over her work. Ah. Pan's essay.

Lady Claire forbade the caning of children, but sometimes she really wished otherwise. Well, maybe it was for the better, piling more violence upon already unstable children- with powers, nonetheless- might be a recipe for disaster.

Although mind you, disaster sounded like fun to Colette's ears some brief times.

She let a small smile slip across her face as she mused about the children. Always squabbling, bickering, as though they were unaware of the great disaster that threatened them. Perhaps she ought to see what there was to be gained by trying to prepare them for the world, making them take sides already.

Yes, that didn't sound like too bad an idea. They had to be prepared. And if a few children got too caught up, well, that would just have to be inside the acceptable losses.

Lady Claire

''Oh well hello Miss Etoile! I'm Lady Claire! It's nice to see you!'' She said with a bright smile. She wasn't expecting to meet the teacher so soon. She expected her arrival on an hour or so.

''It was open for you Miss. Anyway...Welcome to St.Evellyne Shelter! Did you get to meet any children yet? Well if you haven't, you'll have enough time to--'' She was interrupted.

“Pardon me for the intrusion, Lady Claire!” Said a green hair coloured hair girl. Irina Sidha to be specific.

''Oh. Good Morning Irina, it's nice to see you today. Here to pick something?'' She asked.
''Also! Miss Etoile, this is Irina Sidha, one of the children who stay here. Irina, this is Miss Etoile Du Ciel, your future Visual Arts teacher!'' Said, trying not to stumble on her words, nor to speak too fast.

She couldn't let the teacher to know about Michael taking pills to sleep, so she disguised the pills as some cardboard box. A package for someone.

''Oh by the way Irina, this arrived on the mail for your brother. Can you deliver it to him?'' She said giving her a wink. Hopefully, the girl should understand that the box contained Michael's pills.

''Well Miss Etoile, you can go meet the children and walk around the shelter. I'll talk later with you about how things are here.'' Said the woman.

I hope she gets to notice the shelter's secret...The kids that is.

Thought the woman with a small grin...

LUCAS DANTE

The boy sat in a small passageway hidden deep within the shelter. He had found it a couple of years ago when he wandered the shelter. He was once again reading a book. The same book he had read over and over again for the last 10 years. Lady Claire had told him it was the only possession that he had when he was dropped off here; that and his locket.

He gripped his locket. Mother. Lady Claire said that locket was from his mother.

Lucas sighed and continued reading his book, when he heard the voice of a little girl down the corridor.

Hm? Is there someone else who knows about this area? He decided he would go check, and put his book into its regular hiding spot. Lucas began a slow walk towards the voice he heard. He would make sure he was not seen.
