Welcome to Fear of a Name!
The current time of day is: Late morning. Students are preparing to answer questions on their blood status at the Ministry of Magic to determine if they are fit to return to Hogwarts.
The current date is: Mid-August. There's still a bit of summer left before the school year starts.
The current weather is: Nice and sunny. The day looks beautiful and promising, but this won't hold true for the students who aren't cleared to go back to school.
Remember, fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself.

| WELCOME TO FEAR OF A NAME These are dark times, there is no denying. The Carrows have taken over Hogwarts. There's not a Muggleborn to be found. Students who rebel are getting tortured and beaten. Harry Potter, who was seemingly their only hope, has yet to appear. Things are looking pretty hopeless for these Hogwarts students. Can there possibly be a way out? FIRST THINGS FIRST Pick out a character and register. First and last name, please. Middle if you want, we're not picky. (ex: Jane Doe, Jane S. Doe, Jane Susan Doe) A SHORT NOTE We are not entirely restricted to canon. You can have an original character or a canon one, no matter how small his/her part in the book is. The smaller the part, the more imagination you get to have! You can pick any character that would have been a student at Hogwarts during Harry's seventh year except Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, because obviously they are not at Hogwarts during this time. SECOND THINGS SECOND Fill out an application, and submit it. An admin will look at it ASAP, and either sort you or help you fix any problems your application might have. THIRD THINGS THIRD Start roleplaying! Either jump right in to an open thread or post in the Plot section to plot with someone. ANOTHER SHORT NOTE We roleplay by periods. For instance, one period will be breakfast, and everyone will be at breakfast. Then it will be free time, and everyone will have free time. Your character can only be in one place at one, but feel free to sneak around the castle if your character desires. The only exception to this is classes. Instead of having a Herbology period, we will simply have a class period. The teachers will open a thread for each year, and you are free to roleplay as many classes at once as you wish. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Get going! |

Hello! Now, I know how much we all hate reading the rules, but it has to be done, so I'll just go ahead and make it as quick as possible, if you promise to read it all. Kay? Kay. WE BEGIN. The Staff These are the nice people who pretty much help me run the site. They work very hard and they ARE to be respected and listened to. If a moderator or admin tells you to do something, or to not do something, you will follow their instructions. Our administrators are (blank and blank Lola and Lori's characters). We all have alternate characters, so you might not see those names around all the time, but you can always look to the people with bold and/or italicized names for help. Joining the Site 1. Use your character's first and last name, and middle if you want. Capitalized in the proper places. 2. Use the same email address for each of your characters. Multiple characters are allowed. 3. Post your application in the sign ups forum, under the type of character you want. To be a professor, you will either need to have a student character first or have cleared it with the admins. 4. Once an admin has approved your application, you can repost it in the character section under the proper subforum. Characters 1. You don't have to have a character name totally different from everyone else's, but please try and make it creative. We don't need over 9000 Johns. 2. No Mary-Sues, for crying out loud. This is obvious, but I have to say it. If you don't know what a Mary-Sue is, let me google that for you. Otherwise, you have no excuse, so don't do it. No one wants Sues around. 3. Lots of people want to create characters with traumatized pasts or dramatic lives. I'm not going to stop you, but I'll just say that after a while, it gets kind of old. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a normal character. 4. We accept both canon character and originals, but canon characters are very much prefered, even if they are only mentioned in passing in the books. Original characters cannot conflict with canon, however. Therefore, Luna does not have a secret twin brother and they're not a John Doe that's Dumbledore's son. On this note, since we know exactly who the seventh year Gryffindors are, we will not be accepting any seventh year Gryffindor originals. Feel free to apply for another year or house, though, and available canons are always recommended. Behavior 1. This should, again, be pretty obvious, but I have to say it. Please be respectful of all members. Don't bring OOC (out of character) drama into the roleplay, don't say purposely mean and hurtful things, listen to the admins and moderators, etc. You know the basic rules of courtesy, I'm sure. 2. If trouble arises between you and nother member, please don't start drama. PM an admin, who will sort it all out. That's what we're here for! 3. No godmoding. It's not nice. (Conditions and exceptions apply) Godmoding, for those of you who don't know, is controlling another person's character. If you're in, say, a fight scene, and you try to hit another character, it's up to them whether you hit them and how hard. But please be responsible and realistic with this, as you cannot dodge everything. You are allowed to godmode your own characters, though with others', it is advised that you inform him/her about it first. Use the CBox. Use the plotpages. Use the PM system. 4. If you use my site to advertise, I will spam your board to oblivion. (: Roleplaying 1. Here, we have times of day. It is up to the admins to change the time of day. In the morning, you can only roleplay like it's morning, in the afternoon, students should be in class, etc. 2. Only one topic per forum may be posted during each time of day. (This does not apply to the Off Topic Chat) 3. Since we have times of day, I request that in each topic description you post the day and the time of day. It doesn't have to be fancy; just make it so we can tell what it is later. 4. Your character can only be in one place at one time. You must post them entering or exiting the room. If exiting, you should include where you're going next, when possible. It's easier for other people's characters to find your character that way. Emphasize the entering and exiting somehow, whether it be bolded or in a different color. 5. You may post little OOC notes in your posts, but please set them off from the rest of your post. And don't do it with every post. If it's directed at someone about the plot, please post in that person's plot page. 6. Correct grammar and spelling is a beautiful thing. 7. I'll assume you know how to use BBCode, but if you don't, there's this guide under all those nifty little buttons. Please read it for further instruction! 9. Be realistic and not stupid. If you're a first year, you can't go around casting Avada Kedavra, stuff like that. You're well aware of what can really happen and what can't. All right, I think that's it. If you have any questions, post in the Questions thread or just PM any of the staff! Remember, no question is a stupid one. HAPPY ROLEPLAYING! |
