Just a little rant but at the same time I wondered if anyone else has been ripped off or found out before they were stitch up Some of you many have seen my contact lenses thread my sister introduced me to them Anyway I went for one months free trial at spec savers and was told the cost of the lenses Monthly would be £13 but they advised I should only wear them for three days a week for up to 8 hours So once my trial ended I would be in effect paying for monthly contacts which I could only wear in there opinion for in total 12 days of the month because my eyes are slightly dry Which is exactly what they told my sister. Anyway ive had them for 2 weeks today and worn them for slightly longer than advised, but I got some eye drops just in case for dry eyes, which I have not needed to use, I hate wearing glasses its the pressure on the bridge of my nose that causes me to have headaches and I end up trying to balance the glasses on the side of my nose its not easy  and I have suffered this for the last 5 years So contacts for me are a god send, ok your all wondering why am I rambling on   so to the point I was looking at prices of contacts online and I was shocked to find I can get 6 months supply for the one I have for £27 delivered,so I phoned spec savers and asked them for my contact lenses prescription taken from my glasses As its not the same as the glasses they have to account for the gap between the eye and glasses, but they refused to give it me until the trial ended and only if I signed up for 3 months .. I am pleased to say I have managed solve the problem as Tesco have a great deal, I go and see them on Monday With my glasses and they will check out the contacts I have and check my eyes, and for £15 they give me 12 months follow ups if needed and a months supply of lenses then I can buy 3 or 6 months supply from them on line or in store for approx £5 a month instead of stupid money |

I had a problem with Specsavers as well, Pam. A few years ago, they told me I needed bi-focals so that I could read, and see distances. I told them I didn't need glasses to read, but they paid no attention, so I attended up with bi-focals, which I didn't use for reading. A couple of years on, I went back for a re-test, then they said I needed tri-focals. Up, down and sideways. To cut a long story short, they made me these glasses and I was with my dear old friend Margaret, after which we went to a cafe. I put them on and, when I looked to the sides in them, everything was blurred, so I went back. They changed them again then, when they were ready I was told to sit on similar to a bar stool in front of a counter and they gave me a card to read from. There were three paragraphs, all with the same wording, and they asked me to read the top set with my glasses on. I strugged, got frustrated, took the glasses off. Then I covered the top and middle paragraphs and read out loud the bottom paragraph which was the smallest writing, at a distance of about two feet, which is what you should be able to do without visual aids. Those glasses, about 10 years ago, cost me £180.00 and I've never worn the blithering things and why's that, might you ask? Because I can darned well see just fine without them - even distances now, and I've worn glasses from being 14, but I don't need any anymore. [/b] |

Glad you've got them sorted out now, Pam. That's an awful lot cheaper than when I used to get mine. |
