Oh heck. We're off on a nostalgia trip. Well obviously, I remember the old dolly tub, wash-board and mangle as my poor hard-working mother had to use them. A lot of my nostalgic memories are stored in the stories I've written about when I was a child, but I've still got one of those galvanised buckets which I use to mop my floors. My mum used to use a big block of Fairy soap to scrub the collars and cuffs of shirts and blouses. Washing day doesn't smell quite the same now as it did then. |

   My mum upgraded to a table-top mangle which meant that the mangle, by use of a posh lever, dropped the mangle upside down and the top could be used for baking on as it was made of a hard wood. :E Can't find a picture though. :) |

Life was certainly a lot hard in those times. I'm probably one of the few people who tell a microwave to hurry up! :D |
