I agree totally with that Pam. You're paying so if it's not as it should be, back it should go. We were at Beaulieu Motor Museum in Hampshire for the day, years ago. We were hungry and there was a caff and a silver service restaurant. The caff was packed with kids running around and it didn't look too nice, so we went for silver service. That day they had what they described as home-made steak pie on offer so I ordered that, and hubby ordered something else. Well! I took a forkful and had to spit it out into a paper hanky. The meat was off, so I called the waiter over and complained. The flippin' chef came out red-faced and angry and said the meat wasn't off, but it had been cooked in some sort of arty-farty sauce. I argued that I know when meat is off, so he grudgingly took it away, and I chose something else instead. |

Another place we as a family all used to go to was the Ridgeway Hotel at the bottom of Tanners Brow Blackrod, but as with a lot of places it went downhill after it had been refurbished, I haven't been for a few years, I went past it the other day and saw a sign outside advertising a carvery meal, so I thought I would google it to look at the menu and prices, the carvery is advertised at the starting price of over £8+, now I go for a carvery meal most weeks and normally the price at most places are around £3.70, the exception being the Toby Carveries which charge £6.59, the food in all places is exactly the same, so whats with the price difference, and the Crown at Standish was one of our favourite eateries when my wife was alive, but then again if its just pub grub you want, then the range is unlimited, although some leave a lot to be desired as regards variety, |

Thank you for the link Pam, just had a look and I must say that the menu sounds delicious, with lots of variety. I'll definitely be popping in there if I'm ever in that area :) |
