A Geology Graduate is taking the government to court. She has been out of work for the last 12 months. Doing voluntary work at a museum. Job centre told her she had to take a job for two weeks at Poundland, or she risked losing her benefits of £52 week. She claims its against her human right, to work in such a menial job. it's slave labour. This to me is a slap in the face for all low paid shop worker. Tax payers have probably paid for her to attend uni. |

Too good to work in a shop, eh? These people get on my wick. There are graduates the length and breadth of the country working in 'menial' jobs, as she calls them. The fact is they have to earn a living and if they can't get what they're looking for and what they're qualified for, they have to take the first thing that's on offer. It would surprise us all how many university graduates are working in pound shops, macdonalds, burger kings and many other similar places. Hopefully one day they'll all find the job of their dream but meantime they have to accept that they have to earn a living in whatever way they can and she will have to do the same..................unless of course she can rely on the bank of mummy and daddy. |
