Whitney Houston possibly drowned in the bathtub, early reports have indicated

No illegal drugs have been found at the scene, but prescription drugs were discovered in the room, TMZ reports.

Houston's body has since been removed from the bathtub and taken for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Beverly Hills police officers, who are said to be still searching the room, found various pill bottles but no evidence that the star had been drinking alcohol

The saddest thing of all is when someone with a talent such as hers obviously struggles with the pressure of it. I was listening to a discussion on Breakfast this morning and one of the guests made a valid point. According to her young rising stars nowadays are well prepared for life in the spotlight before they even release a record. But at the time Whitney Houston rose to fame, there was no preparation and she was more or less shot into stardom. That has to put a tremendous amount of pressure on young people. As well as that she was following great people with her mother being an acclaimed gospel singer and her cousin Dionne Warwick..................as well as that her godmother is Aretha Franklin...........each and every one of them a hard act to follow. Although we all know she was well worthy of following those great people, she must have felt pressure at times to keep up the sort of family tradition. Life in the limelight has its problems and unfortunately there are all too many casualties from it.

R.I.P. Whitney

I am afraid I have little sympathy. She wasnt a young person, she was 48 and had been in show business for many years 20 I think. She chose to use drugs, there is Tina Turner in her 70s and still going after a horrible marriage and physical abuse with Ike, but no drug abuse, same with Cher in her 60s. After so many years the pressure of work should have been less becase she could have chosen to retire from the music world if it had been getting to her. She had wealth beyond the dream s of most people. A great talent yet again gone to waste, but by her own hand.

with respect i think your post is a little harsh, 48 year old is not old by any stretch of the imagination, i think its extremely sad such a talented woman has passed away, i don't think its right to judge someone who became addicted to drugs, if your going to do that then you may as well judge a drinker or a smoker.

First of all Jovian, I don't know what age you are but 48 is young and certainly too young to die. Secondly, different people have different ways of dealing with stuff in their lives. In an ideal world we would all manage to just get through life the best we can without any outside help but we don't live in an ideal world and I don't think you or anyone else has the right to criticise someone who obviously couldn't deal with her life. She not only had the pressures on her that I mentioned in my last post but piled on top of that was the pressure that goes hand in hand with an abusive relationship. Nobody can possible know how she felt unless they've walked a mile in her shoes.

So in my opinion your post was way over the top and much too harsh.
