A man who pretended to be a manager of a fast food outlet just so he could make himself a cheeseburger has been arrested.

52-year-old James B Summers convinced staff at a Denny's in Wisconsin that he had been appointed as their new boss.

Summers was discovered helping himself to a burger, fries and a soda while a suspicious worker contacted senior management for confirmation. She then called the police.

Officers discovered a concealed stun gun on his person, as well as what appeared to be two crack pipes, according to Yahoo.

He was arrested on charges of fraud, disorderly conduct and being in possession of an electric weapon and drug paraphernalia.

Summers was apparently co-operative with police, but as he was about to be led from the restaurant, yelled to patrons: "This is why you don't dine and dash, kiddies."

He had only eaten about three-quarters of his food by the time he was exposed.
