3rd Rhona is annoyed as Paddy leaves to spend the day with Marlon. On their activity day, Paddy and Marlon are sweating and exhausted during boot camp and sneak off to the bar instead. Spotting an offer for the men's spa, they decide to stay overnight and lie to Rhona and Laurel that they've injured themselves and can't come home. As the pair lie in the spa with face masks on, they agree never to fall out again before deciding to have manicures. Back in the village, Rhona is upset to realise that Paddy has lied to her, and she tells Brett that her relationship is on the rocks. Brett tells her that she deserves better, but she is shocked when he moves in to kiss her. As Brett tells her she's not happy with Paddy and she should stop lying to herself, Rhona is stunned and demands that he leaves, offering to pay him until the end of the week. Meanwhile, Moira realises how close she and Cain were to being caught when Adam arrives and notices the empty beer cans from her night with Cain. Later, she is driving back with a Christmas tree on the truck when it slips off. Cain pulls up to help, but Moira isn't in the mood to flirt with him and insists that last night was a one-off. Later, Moira is in the middle of decorating the Christmas tree when Cain lets himself in. She finds herself caught up in the danger and excitement as Cain seduces her once again. They are about to move to the bedroom when Adam enters. Moira covers that Cain is worried about Zak, but Adam is sceptical. Elsewhere, Chas's fears grow when her prison friend Tracey returns from her trial with a five-year custodial sentence, Rishi is impressed with Gennie's answers when he interviews her for the sales manager job but Gennie is fuming when Nikhil can't see a way of making it work with Molly, while Ali plans to visit her granddad when she learns that he has fallen and broken his hip. 4th Rhona promises Brett that she won't tell Paddy about him trying to kiss her, but he should stay somewhere else. Soon afterwards, Rhona calls Paddy but he doesn't answer. When Paddy and Marlon later text to say they're not coming back just yet, Rhona is determined to find out what is going on. Laurel and Rhona then arrive at the hotel as Paddy and Marlon are tucking into room service. Laurel is furious and confronts Marlon before heading out. Paddy and Rhona end up having a heart-to-heart, agreeing that they need to talk more. Laurel and Rhona then start sniping at one another and Laurel suddenly bursts into tears. She confides in Rhona that she has been selfish by uprooting her whole family, and she doesn't know if being with Marlon is the right thing for her or the family. Marlon walks in to see Laurel in tears and later asks what's bothering her, but she shuts him down. Meanwhile, Chas is numb with shock when she discovers that Tracey took her own life after being given a five-year sentence. Back in the village, Cameron tells Jimmy that he needs money to cover Chas's legal fees, and Jimmy considers whether he should offer to help. Later in the café, Cameron acts surprised when Jimmy offers £5,000 to help with Chas's legal team. Cameron visits a defeated Chas, explaining about the money from Jimmy, but Chas is terrified that she might get convicted and leaves Cameron wracked with guilt. Elsewhere, Gennie is pleased as Nikhil gives her the sales manager job and promises that he'll look after Molly when she works, while Cain is stood up by Moira when she struggles to deal with Adam's questions about where she's heading off to 5th In prison, Chas's solicitor tries to help her, but is impatient with her defeatist attitude. He starts to go over her statement, but Chas has given up and wants him to leave. Once he has gone, Chas looks at the poster on the wall about Tracey's death and goes to her cell, curling up on her bed. Back in the village, Cameron tells Jimmy that he appreciates everything he has done for Chas, but Jimmy is curious when Cameron takes a call about a legal complication. Cameron visits Chas and is wracked with guilt as she tells him that she has decided to plead guilty and pay for her crime… Meanwhile, Paddy fumes as Rhona tells him about Brett making a pass at her. Later at the vets, Paddy confronts Brett, telling him that he is sacked for trying it on with his wife. Brett leaves and as Rhona assures Paddy she has no reason to look at anyone else, they are reunited. However, they're brought back down to earth when Rhona wonders what they will do without a locum. Elsewhere, Marlon is troubled as he asks Laurel what is bothering her after seeing her in tears with Rhona. She denies there is a problem and heads to work. Later in the café, Rhona is stern with Laurel and advises her to sort things out with Marlon. Finally, Laurel opens up to Marlon and admits how she's feeling about everything. At Mill Cottage shortly afterwards, Nicola is furious with Jimmy as he arranges to visit Chas. Meanwhile, Steve arrives at The Woolpack, wanting to talk to Bernice. She is determined to make the best of a difficult situation as Val and Rodney exchange glances. It's awkward as the four of them sit together and Bernice's heart sinks when Steve wants to talk to her in private. The pair raise their voices and Bernice tells Steve to go back to his wife. Rodney comforts his heartbroken daughter and Val assures her that she's better off without him. At the same time, over at the police station, the detective is frustrated as Cameron insists that he has new information about Carl's murder. Cameron declares that Chas couldn't have done it, but doesn't give him any solid facts. Leaving the station in turmoil, Cameron punches the side of his van, guilty at his betrayal. When Cameron appears outside the pub, Charity fumes at him for funding Chas's defence, and Cameron is distraught when he discovers that Chas will see Jimmy but not him.
