In my opinion, we are currently at a point, where the forum is suffering from lacking activity.

When I look in the member list, I'm wondering where is Bluebell, Embemxrabbit, Fivergoalkeeper, Foxbrow, Keeralie Starflight, Kornblume or madame-baggins? All members, that have been active some time ago.

But now, the Honeycomb has gotten silent. And I simply think: What can we do to motivate the hlessill to come back to the warren.

One thing, that has been added (and that I would like to see within more user-profiles) is the "Favorite WSD-Media"-selection.

Another thing could be special content, that's reachable through the forum (why not some more Honeycomb-wallpaper :) )

We have an RPG-Section and a Caption Corner. Any ideas, what we could add (and what's WSD-related) to motivate our members?

This should be some kind of brainstorming, what we can do to increase the activity.

Didn't see that coming.

Would you believe I've never seen the whole background picture? Pointing to that link shows me Hazel and Campion and Pipkin. My laptop resolution doesn't go big enough to see what's down there. I think that is a step in the right direction. :)

The GOF forum already has a link to this board somewhere. If I can find it I'll give it a bump. Same with the Redwall forum....I'll give that one a bump too. Seems like quite a few people come from either of those places.

Beyond that, I know what sometimes gets people back in here is a board-wide email with a link to it. If we can work one out that doesn't sound desperate for attention then I'll send it out.

Hey, I have an idea (I don't have to hear your opinion because I'm the boss and we're going to do it anyway, but still, hear me up on this one :P!!!). How about if we make a Steam group for the site and start inviting our friends to it? We can do some group chats and stuff... we can even lure some people in in the process.

It's so crazy that it might just work :P

Maybe we could send board-wide email each month as an update about what has happened on the forum in the last month? Like, what new discussions were started on the board, or what people registered recently. This way we make people aware each month that things are happening on the forum and there is something they could return to. In addition, one update per month isn't too often to make those messages annoying.

That's not a bad idea.

But we must be careful, that our members doesn't regard it as spam.

It's possible to disable admin-E-Mails in the CP. But that's not, what we want.

Something else is done in the Animation Source forum. I disabled the E-Mails, because I don't want to read them. So maybe, there must be a incentive to read the E-Mails. But what should that be, I don't know yet :(

I meant manually written emails from us admins (but send en masse to all registered members), not automatic messages sent by forum system. ;)

Nice idea. :) This way we can also socialize over other things than just Watership Down.

Thanks Myrk :)

We should be careful, though, as we don't really want to discuss TOO much in there... it can render the forum useless :/

But in the meantime... who wants to exchange IDs? :)

whenever I can send people to this forum, every time I discover love Watership Down, well at least more users coming.
And show them the sign of activity:

I had many problems at first about not having this.

Yes, that's a good point. All good resolutions and ideas are useless, when people, who come across the forum, are seeing no activity.

So it's our duty to make this place not look like a abandoned warren. I agree, that I also haven't been the most active user in the past month. I'll try to change that :)

Has anybody maybe some ideas, what new board sections we could create?

We have an RPG-section, a caption-corner, a game burrow. Keeping up just Watership Down discussions should be very hard, if not impossible. So we need another incentive for people to visit the forum. But of course, we must be careful not to dilute the spirit and the main purpose of this forum.

Next idea: I will create (of course, others could also do this) topics in the Episode Talk. Let's get discussions about all 39 episodes of the series.

When this is done, I will link directly from my episode guide to the respective topic of the board with a text like "Discuss this episode in the forum".

This may bring people, who are reading my site to the forum, that usually haven't checked the community section.

It's done :) All episodes have now their own topics. And they are all also linked in the episode guide on my website ;)

So come and participate. Fill the forum with life and discuss :)
