"Don't worry, Elderberry,” said Parsley. “Even if Greydew ends up not believing you, I'm sure someone else in the owsla will. And either way, I do believe you. But what kind of danger would it be, if it isn't something that would try to eat us?" Seeing Larch approach, she started to whisper. “Try to keep quiet and hopefully he won't start annoying us.” |

(Sorry. I didn't see the second page) He glanced at Larch momentarily. "I hope he won't start anything" he admitted dubiously before turning back to the topic of danger. "As for the feelings... I'm really glad you believe me... I'm not making it up, you know that" he confirmed. "As for the danger... It doesn't feel like elil... more like... I don't know... Something different..." He knew that his summary was rather poor yet tried to convey the danger he felt as best he could. "All I know is that I feel scared... it's like a man with a gun, stalking closer but he isn't about to shoot... I can't see what the danger is... it's covered in mist, too thick to see through..." He trailed off in frustration. |

There was a loud metallic crash a good distance away. All the rabbits stood at alert or bolted for holes. But gradually they all became calm again and nibbled at the grass, albeit more warily. Some time passed, but it was still before midday. Then a small, energetic little outskirter came hopping up the way toward them. Her name was Lilac. "Look! Look! The river is flowing again! The river is back!" Many of the rabbits were confused. The river had gone dry at least a year previous. As they made their way down the bank they saw that it was indeed beginning to fill again. "Someone get underground and tell the chief! Double quick!" said Greydew authoritatively. Then Elderberry began to have a fit, writhing and moaning on the ground. The rabbits weren't quite sure what to think or do. (OOC: Sorry for the delay. I'm currently running three RPGs and active in a fourth. This one came last on the list unfortunately. Wasn't quite sure how to say what I wanted to say.) |

As Parsley heard the crash, she startled, ears up and ready to run. As nothing happened, she relaxed again and continued to silflay. "That is a really vague description of danger" she told Elderberry. "It can be almost anything". Suddenly, he started to have the fit. Parsley panicked. While she had learned the basics of healing with the hopes it would help her get a spot in the owsla, this was unlike anything she had ever seen before, and was unsure what she should do. |

Larch jumped at the sound of the crash. Now that was unusual. He stared towards where the sound had come from, waiting for something to happen. And, sure enough, something did. A rabbit came scurrying up from the dry bank shouting about how the river was running again. How could that be? It hadn't run in seasons. Just then, he glanced over to see Elderberry twitching on the ground, moaning. Crash. River. Elderberry having a fit. A nagging sense in Larch's head told him that all these things had something to do with each other. Why else would they happen so close together? Greydew was shouting something about telling the chief then, but what business did Larch have taking care of that? He looked back towards where the crash had come from. It was the same direction that the river flowed from. Those two things had to be connected. He wasn't entirely sure why, but he knew that was the case. Natural fear told him to stay where he was and keep eating, but an unusual curiosity stirred in his small mind. What could have made that sound? What could have stopped the river? How? And why? Against his better judgment, Larch took off from the warren and towards where the crash had come from by himself. |

As he heard the crash, he suddenly froze and his eyes stared. As rabbits begun to calm down, he suddenly fell to the ground and shivered fitfully. And earie moaning came from his mouth as he writhed, trembling at the oppressive feeling of terror came upon him, more terrifying than before. He twitched as colours flashed by his eyes, noise rang in his ears, deafening fear threatened to engulf him as a whirl of colour and piercing red eyes imprinted in his mind, freezing him with overpowering fear. He just lay there, twitching miserably and moaning incoherently about nothing in particular. His eyes stared up at the sky, though the sky was not what he was seeing. |

Elderberry felt himself go cold as icy terror threatened to engulf him. His senses were fading, darkness was creeping into his sight as black shrouded his vision and he was falling, falling through a void of fear and penetrating night. Crimson eyes imprinted upon his sight for the last time as everything went black and he faded into unconsciousness. His ceased his moaning and twitching and lay still, his only movement being the rise and fall of his flanks. |

"I'll tell him!" said Lilac enthusiastically and scurried down the nearest burrow. As the rabbits watched, the river continued to rise until the water was as high as it had ever been. Perhaps higher. Larch made his way up the river for some time. As he went, the water kept rising. He was going steadily uphill. He was beginning to get very tired when he finally saw them. There were several men standing around and making noise. They had massive yellow hrudidil with them. Much of the ground was disturbed, and a large wooden barricade lay flat beside the river. The smell of disturbed earth filled Larch's nostrils and he grew afraid. It was a long way back to the warren but at least it was downhill. Back at the warren the water had risen above the banks of the stream. Grass was disappearing under the water and it was approaching some of the burrows. "What do we do? What's going on?" came confused statements from the rabbits. More had come out of the burrows but not nearly all of them. "Where is Lilac? And the Boll-rah? I sent her in there. What do we do?" said Greydew, looking very worried. |

Larch was about to collapse as he reached the top of the hills that surrounded the valley. He would have too, had the sights and sounds around him not kept him firmly on his feet. He stopped in his tracks at the sight of men not far off. Men and huge, brightly colored hrududil, all around torn up earth and what looked a giant piece of shiny bark. Larch had never seen anything like it. What was the bark-thing doing there? Had it been in the river? It wasn't safe, he knew, but he lingered nonetheless, if only to catch his breath a moment longer. As he breathed in, though, he caught an awful stench on the wind. Earth and uprooted plants and something unnatural. Straight away, Larch turned and started back down the valley, tired as he was. Larch had seen the men, the hrududil, the bark-thing, but now what was he supposed to do with that information? Keep it to himself? No, of course not. He had to tell someone. But who? He'd always liked causing a stir, but now there was really danger around them. There was no telling what the men might do. Would the Owsla even believe him if he told them? He'd given false alarms before. Maybe he would simply have to tell Boll-Rah himself. Maybe. As he headed back down the hill, Larch rushed a little too fast. His paws and legs were already shaky and unstable, and running didn't help. About halfway down, his speed finally caught up to him. His front paws gave out and sent him rolling down the hill, head over tail. He flailed in an effort to right himself, but to no avail. By the time he reached the bottom of the hill, he'd built up momentum that kept him tumbling for a bit, and sent him hurtling straight into Parsley. |

Parsley was still tending to Elderberry, who still showed no signs of improvement. As she saw him fall unconscious, she made the decision to carry him underground. She placed him on her back and started walking towards the nearest hole, but the progress was slow, as he was rather heavy. Suddenly, she felt something crash into her, knocking her off her feet and causing Elderberry to fall further away. She got back up and shook the dirt out of her fur. "Why don't you watch where you're going?" she said accusingly. Only then did she realize that it was Larch who had struck her. "Did you do that on purpose?" |

Larch wasn't in good shape by the time Parsley stopped him in his tracks. He stood up quickly, but didn't bother to shake off the dust and grass he'd accumulated. He was shaking enough as it is, adrenaline from both the sight of men and the fall making him quake out of control. "I might have," he said to her, nodding his head very quickly. It had been very much unintentional, but something in him still demanded he try and rile her up. "I might have, yes, but there's more important things than watching where you go right now." He knew he sounded a bit mad just then, but he wasn't going to stop himself. If a rabbit wanted to see that he wasn't mad, all he would have to do was climb the hills himself. "I've seen men!" he declared, as though it was the greatest fib he'd come up with yet. "Men, and hrududil, and a shiny slab-thing just near the river. It all just makes sense now, can't you see?" he asked, gesturing to Elderberry's unconscious form. Larch hesitated finally to catch his breath once more before asking his first non-rhetorical question, "Do you think I should tell Boll-rah?" |

Elderberry gave a gasp as he awoke, still trembling and looking around him. His unfocused gaze fell upon the first rabbits he saw: Larch and Parsley. He got shakily to his feet and hopped towards them with a terrible look of urgency on his face as he gibbered like a witch hare "Men are causing the water to flow back, men with monstrous, shiny hrudidil... you saw them didn't you?" His last question was addressed to Larch. "I saw it, a cascade of water and men with burning white sticks and great hrudidil that ploughed up the earth... I saw it... But what should be done about it?" |

Parsley struggled to make sense of what was happening. Larch and Elderberry were clearly too shaken up to speak coherently, and she was also rapidly becoming nervous. She only managed to understand one thing: there were men nearby, and they were doing something to the river. She did not know if they were posing an immediate threat to the warren, but either way, nothing good could come out of all this. Her first instinct was to alert Boll-rah, but remembered that another rabbit had already taken care of that. Resisting the urge to panic, she asked the other two: "Where are they? Can you show me the way?" |

"You can't do anything about men," Larch said, shaking his head at Elderberry. "They do what they like and you try to stay out of their way." He drooped one of his ears down so that he could scratch it, instinctively trying to mitigate the energy and excitement rushing through him. "What if they come down here? You wouldn't have had that- that bout if nothing was wrong, would you?" Alarming as his words were and as high-strung as he felt, he was enjoying himself enough to carry on. It wasn't the first time he'd whipped himself into a frenzy after all. Larch turned about and frantically gestured in the direction he had rolled down from. "Just up the hill there," he said, addressing Parsley. "I'm not climbing up again, I'm not daft, but if you want to see yourself, they're there." He leaned down to nibble at some grass. His stomach had gone neglected for too long throughout the morning and he needed to eat something before making any decisions. |

"I don't know why I had the sudden fit. It seemed like a vision or other... I didn't really understand anything. I just saw the men and what they were doing" His paws trembled nervously. "I hope they won't do anything to us... But... but what if they do. What then?" Turning to his friend Parsley, he addressed her with a tone of alarm in his voice "I wouldn't go up there if I were you. What I saw what enough to turn any rabbit tharn... it turned me tharn. I would advise you not to go there, you might be hurt" |
