Elderberry's warning made Parsley rather nervous. She didn't know what he had seen, but she didn't really want to see it herself.

"Boll-rah will probably forbid anyone from going over there anyway." she said. Trying to avoid looking like a coward, she changed the subject. "But where IS Boll-rah? It's been forever since that rabbit Lilac went to see him!"

Elderberry shook his head. "Don't ask me, I've no idea where Boll rah is. I just hope he comes up with a solution to this problem. We don't want men here... "
The dark brown rabbit crouched down and begun nibbling a few fronds of grass, trying to conceal his fear the best he could.

The water kept rising. One of the lower burrows began taking water as it rose. Greydew was breathing fast now. "I have to save Lilac! And the Boll-Rah! Parsley, will you help me?" He looked to the only rabbit he thought might help him. Elderberry was having a fit and Larch was exhausted and panicked.

More then half of the warren was still underground.

Parsley's ears perked up as she heard Greydew call her name. He was asking her to help save the warren's Chief Rabbit. This was a great opportunity to prove her worth.

"I'll help. Just what do we have to do? Get as many rabbits as possible above ground?"

Elderberry looked at Parsley and his gaze held concern and fear.
"Be careful... its dangerous" he said quietly, not knowing if anyone would hear him. He finished his dandelion and fidgeted nervously, casting glances here and there whilst feeling half inclined to bolt at nothing.

"I think the water may flood the warren! We have to try!" Without another word, Greydew scurried down the nearest hole.

Elderberry watched helplessly as Greydew vanished down the nearest hole. For some reason Unknown to him, the dark brown rabbit felt a sense of impending danger and he glanced away, his green gaze casting over and beyond the hills as if in desperate search for some form of comfort or escape.

"Don't worry Elderberry", Parsley told her friend. "I'll be all right." With that, she followed Greydew into the hole. The ground was already becoming damp and muddy, making it very hard to walk. She went into the first burrow she could find, where a few rabbits were sleeping.

"Wake up!" she shouted. "The warren is flooding, everyone must go above ground!"

The two rabbits awoke suddenly and looked confused. With some prodding they made their way back toward the surface. About half of the warren was on this side of the river, and the larger half was connected by one tunnel that went well under the river, called the Deep Run. The Bollrah's burrow was on the other side.

Greydew approached Parsley from nearby. "Come on, follow me!" he said. Without waiting for an answer he hurried off down the tunnels. They went further and further underground, warning any rabbits they could. Some listened, others didn't. Finally they reached the intersection that led down to the Deep Run. Water was pouring down another tunnel and into the Deep Run. "I can't go in there. I won't." said Greydew, looking distressed.

Then they heard a whimpering noise from another run. Lilac was sitting there looking scared. "Thank Frith!" said Greydew, looking relieved. "Come with us Lilac-roo!"

Already the water had filled the Deep Run and now was at their toes and rising very quickly.

Elderberry hopped close to the burrow that his friend had vanished down and attentively listened, hoping to hear if any danger lurked beneath the soil. His heart beat fast with panic and he glanced swiftly at larch who also seemed to be in a state of fear.
"I can smell the water down there, a sort of dangerous scent. I hope to Frith that everyone will emerge unscathed" he muttered though more to himself than to Larch.

"Just be glad we're not down there," he told Elderberry. Cold as it was to say, it was true. He didn't want to be the one down in a flooding burrow. If the soil was wet, it just wasn't safe. A rabbit could easily drown in muck and water down there. The thought gave him shudders.

His distress was palpable once more. Springhaven was the only home he'd ever known; he'd been born there, lived there all his life. What would they do if the burrows all flooded? The water couldn't reach that far, could it?

"Things will be fine," he said out loud, scratching down one of his ears reflexively. "They'll get out fine."

Parsley became extremely nervous as she saw the Deep Run entirely flooded. To get to the other side, any rabbit would have to swim, and she knew several rabbits living on the other side who wouldn't be able to make it. "Just what were they thinking when they dug this warren, without any emergency escape tunnel or anything? she thought.

"Lilac" she said, "can you show me the way to Boll-rah's burrow?"

(OOC: I may not have explained it properly. The warren has openings to above ground on both sides of the river. The Deep Run is the only underground route to the far side of the river. The Boll-Rah's burrow is on the far side.)

Greydew looked calmer now despite the danger they were in. "There's no time, Parsley, we have to get out of here," he said. "Come on Lilac-roo!" he pushed the almost tharn Lilac up the tunnel. She was so small that she was almost swimming in the rising water.

Parsley followed the two as they made their way up and up. They were moving slowly, and the water was rising with them. The ground was wet and slippery under their feet as they struggled upward. Parsley slipped and fell backwards into the water. Suddenly she was sinking, losing control. She pawed helplessly at the muck under her feet, trying to keep her head above water. She managed to pull herself half way out of the water, and found that Greydew and Lilac were out of sight.

Parsley fought the muddy ground, but she was tired from running and wet and she kept losing her footing. She was beginning to think she would die in these tunnels. Then, as she passed a connecting tunnel, a rather large, muscular rabbit stuck his head out. "What in Frith's name is this?!" he shouted in surprise. She recognized him as Mugwort, Captain of Owsla. "Well this won't do. Come on, then," He grabbed her by the scruff, as if she was a kitten. He pulled her up and out of the water as if she were weightless. He pushed her forward ahead of him, and in this way they made the final stretch.

Elderberry sat up miserably. "Flooding burrows... soil becomes wet and pulls you under. I fear that not all may make it. Some rabbits may have been caught unawares..." He was muttering more to himself than to anyone else.
The dark brown rabbit looked at Larch and quietly replied to his statement "I'm glad I'm not down there... but others are and some may not make it out..." After his grim words, Elderberry crouched down, casting uncertain glances at Larch then at the entrance to the burrow as he often did when apprehensive: though apprehensive was an understatement for what he was feeling.

OOC: Sorry about the misunderstanding.

IC: As Parsley and Mugwort made it back above ground, Parsley stopped to catch her breath. A few moments before, she was sinking in mud wondering if she was ever going to make it out, and now she was safe above ground. Exhausted and dirty, but nevertheless alive and safe.

"You saved my life" she told Mugwort. "I don't know how to thank you, sir." She turned to look at the warren, slowly falling apart. "Is Boll-rah still in there?"
