Elderberry heard voices and upon turning round, he noticed that Parsley and another rabbit he was unfamiliar of had emerged from a burrow a mere few hops away. Feeling relieved that his friend was unharmed, he came up to them and begun speaking rather fast and urgently "how is it? Did everyone make it out of the burrow... Or are there others still down there?" He hastily checked himself for speaking so rapidly and consented to an uncomfortable, nervous fidget. |

The water had risen to where they now stood. "I'm not going back down there," said Mugwort, "Everyone who can, come with me. Let's get to higher ground until the flood passes." He ran off to the east, where the ground rose toward scattered trees. |

"Most of the rabbits on this side of the river are safe.” said Parsley. “The other side, I don't know, the Deep Run is already flooded. Unfortunately there's no time to go back in there. Everyone must go to the upper grounds. You coming?" Seeing Elderberry remain motionless, she got impatient. “Come on! You don't want to stay here and drown, do you?” This brought him back to his senses, and the two rabbits started to make their way towards the higher ground. A while later, Parsley added: "You saw the whole thing coming. I don't know how you did, but it saved many lives." |

"Saved lives?" Larch broke in, trailing behind them as they climbed. It was the second time he was climbing that day and the only thing keeping him going at that point was sheer adrenaline. There wasn't any doubt that he was a bit grumpy. "He twitched, moaned, and sat around doing nothing," he said. "We would have seen the water rising anyway. I saw more than him for goodness sake, I saw men and their things with my own two eyes." It wasn't anything against Elderberry, really. Larch barely knew the poor rabbit. It was just that stress was high and he didn't see why Elderberry was being praised. |

"I'm coming, I'm coming" he told Parsley hurriedly, hopping hastily after her as she made her own way behind Mugwort. When he heard her say that his vision had saved lives, he shook his head scornfully and agreed with Larch. "My vision didn't save any lives. As larch says, anyone would have seen the water rising so my vision was nothing... Just a vision of danger but it didn't help us really. All I did was be a hindrance..." He looked slightly woebegone as he helplessness during his vision then added "I just hope the flood clears up as soon as possible" |

"This makes no sense at all!" said Mugwort. "Floods come from the rain! We haven't had rain in days!" The rabbits made it to the copse of trees in the east. They looked back over the valley where they had lived their whole lives. The water had risen significantly while they climbed, and so had the sun. The noon sun shone down on a steadily growing lake, enveloping everything they had known. If any rabbits had made it out on the other side of the river, they couldn't see them. "What in the name of Frith do we do now?!" said Mugwort, sounding angry and confused. "Maybe we should stay in these trees." |

"Man is to do with the flooding. I saw them building a huge stone wall in my vision, then the river ran dry. The men destroyed the wall and water flooded through with the force of a hrududu and it covered the valley. Believe me... Man is to blame for this... Trust me" he tried to explain the cause of the flooding as he had seen it in his vision though the memory sent him shuddering with newfound fear. "I saw rabbits drowning..." He broke off feebly, his heart beating fast as he realised that they may never be living in spring haven ever again. "This is all terrible!" He suddenly exclaimed miserably, letting vent to his turmoil of emotions with his small outburst of passion. |

Parsley was profoundly annoyed at Larch, especially after Elderberry started talking about how terrible this is. She herself was extremely stressed too, and took out her frustration on him: "Well you didn't do much either, did you Larch? You didn't help get rabbits out of the warren before it was too late, you just stayed above ground the whole time. And it was Lilac who was the first to see the river flow again." As she finished, she shook herself in an effort to dry her fur, before starting to clean all the mud. This would helpfully help her calm down. However, as she turned, she saw the valley, or what was left of it. Where the warren previously was, there was now nothing but water. Any rabbit who was still in there was almost certainly dead, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. She remained motionless, staring. The warren where she, and everyone else with her, had lived all their lives, was destroyed. Even if the water receded, it would probably be structurally unsound. |

'Frith rah' Breathed Elderberry in disbelief, gazing in shock at the valley below them. 'I never expected this, never did I expect there to be this much water... Frith rah' The dark-furred rabbit's eyes were wide as he took in the full destruction that man could inflict and his abject sense of shock could not be conveyed by his simple words however much he may want to. He shook his head, as if trying to clear his mind of all troubles as he was unaware of all now except for the flood in the valley. He was lost in his own world as he resumed to stare down into what had once been a thriving community of rabbits. |

"You wanted me to drown down there? Like you look like you did?" Larch bit back. It wasn't fair to say, he knew, but he didn't care just then. "It doesn't matter now, does it? Now everything's gone and they're-" He stopped himself at "dead." Larch really didn't want to think about that, and he knew no one else did either. Any of the startlingly few rabbits who had made it to high ground could have been unlucky that day. Larch could have been unlucky; he'd slept late that day. What would have happened had he not gotten up when he did? Every single one of them was lucky not to be under all that water and a layer of wet earth. Larch glanced around at their group. Hrair rabbits were there, but not enough. Not enough for them to get by on their own, he was sure. Not nearly enough. |

Elderberry managed to snap out of his reverie and looked apologetic as he asked timidly "What do we do now?" It was a question he was not eager to discuss but with the warren destroyed and the hrair rabbits who escaped being extremely tense, he knew that it was going to be immensely difficult for them to start elsewhere and he wanted to know what to do, it was but a small comfort that he desired to seek. The brown rabbit sat up and fidgeted with his paws, still feeling desolate and bereft at the loss of the once thriving warren. |

"Hopefully the water will recede at some point" said Parsley "but even if it does, I'm not sure I would want to go back there." She was about to add "with the dead bodies and all", but decided against it. The others were already feeling bad enough without her bringing up this subject. "We are bound to attract elil, and we have no place to run to if something does happen." she added. "I suggest we dig a few scrapes. They might be useful." However, as she looked at the others, she realized that nearly all of them were visibly exhausted, and she was not much better herself. If any digging was to be done, it would take a long time. |

Elderberry shook his head and murmured quietly "I don't think any of us are in any state to dig holes... physically and mentally" He looked down sadly at his foot paws "And the warren would be damp and dangerous... it might have caved in due to all the water" Elderberry covered his eyes with his paws and whispered pitifully "Oh Frith and Inle" |

Mugwort looked around at the whole group. "The water is still rising, you fools! We must keep going." They looked up the slope before them and saw that the whole thing was covered with trees. They could either go through or try and find a way around. The water was a ways behind them, but it did seem to still be rising. He jumped slightly at Mugwort's angry muttering and looked up, taking in the fact that the slope ahead was covered in trees. He ventured a timid suggestion "Excuse me for saying... but it might be best if we go right through the trees. If we go around we might be wasting precious time whereas a straight cut through the trees would ensure that we keep ahead of the water" |
