"You're right Elderberry. Let's go through the woods" said Pasley.

She started to make her way through the trees, but exhausted from everything she had already been through, she walked at a much slower pace than before.
"I hope there aren't any elil hiding in here," she thought, "because I won't be able to outrun them. And I'm probably not the only one. Will this water ever stop rising?"

He nodded and followed behind his friend, his eyes wide as he looked around him, never having been in a wood before.
"Such tall trees... shadows all around us..." His tone was quiet and uncertain as he cautiously hopped behind Parsley, looking over his shoulder to see if the others were coming too.

Parsley and the others continued going uphill between the trees. Suddenly, she startled. She thought she had seen some movement in a shrub further away, but she wasn't sure.

"There may be something hiding in there", she told the others, "so I suggest you stay away from it." However, as she looked at the group, she couldn't see Larch anywhere. "I hope he didn't try to run away", she thought, "because if he did, we'll never find him."

Elderberry too saw the movement in the undergrowth. He shuddered and stayed well away, glancing at the other rabbits now and then as if it brought him comfort or thoughts of safety.
He pricked up his ears as Parsley mentioned that they couldn't see Larch anywhere nearby. The dark brown rabbit immediately felt concerned and begun scanning the area keenly, hoping to see a glimpse of Larch so as to know that he was not lost.

Larch had indeed wandered from the group. It wasn't often that he'd had the chance to come up the hill. Why would he when he had plenty to do in the valley? With the valley gone, though, he was seeing so many different things, smelling different things, hearing different things. He hung back for a little too long and barely noticed his group moving along. An odd plant with bright flowers had caught his eye and he hopped over to sniff at it. It was a little like smelling the morning before the first snow fell and Larch wasn't sure what to make of it.

A rustle not far away sent him running after a moment, though, and he jumped to run back towards the party of rabbits. He didn't hear anything following him, so he assumed it must have just been a stray breeze. Everything seemed so much bigger.

"It's amazing out here," he breathed as he caught up with the rest of the group, his natural fear and excitement mingling. "Never seen anything like this up close."

Parsley startled as she heard a voice coming from behind her. She turned and saw Larch, absent-mindedly looking at his surroundings.

"Amazing, but also very dangerous, Larch," she said. "That shrub over there, for example. There's probably something hiding in there, so stay away from there."

"And please don't try to be a hero and fight whatever is in there," she thought. "The last thing we need now is a fight."

Elderberry shook his head at Larch's words and corrected quietly "It's not amazing... this place is full of danger. You may hear what may be elil but the trees and bushes prevent you from seeing what it is until too late"
The dark brown rabbit stayed close to the others, keen not be found an easy victim for whatever it was that was lurking in the bushes.
