It's a bit worrying they didn't run away: humans can be dangerous, the foxes should be afraid of us. Either way, these are nice pictures, thank you for posting them. I'll be looking forward to those from your current vacation. |

Yeah, the reason why they weren't is because they somehow didn't notice my family, and we were literally the only people in the area at the moment. The pictures were also taken at Paradise Lodge, which is a popular tourism location in the Rainier National Park. |

Well, I'm about to upload all my vacation pictures from last week on here, but I wanted to include this disclaimer first. Because I have so many photographs, I am going to do this is parts. If it looks a little weird, that's why. And now onto the pictures! |

White River Campground and Mt. Rainier, pt. 1 A stream that I found when I was hiking to a flower meadow that I sadly didn't get pictures of ![]() Another stream ![]() The mountain across from White River Campground ![]() A chipmunk that was hanging out off the size of the trail ![]() ![]() Chipmunk pup ![]() Mt. Rainier viewed from a clearing on the hiking trail ![]() Slightly better image of the mountain Fun fact about White River: White River looks a murky white-brown color because of all the dirt it takes with it as it melts off of one of the glaciers on Mt. Rainier. I wish I got pictures of White River but all I got was a video that got corrupted. Edited by Strifer, Aug 9 2016, 12:01:34 PM.

White River Campground and Mt. Rainier, pt. 2 Emmons Glacier, the largest glacier in the Continental United States (the USA excluding Alaska and Hawaii). It just looks like dirt but that is because it got covered with sediment from an eruption or something. Mt. Rainier is an active volcano that is long overdue for an eruption, by the way. ![]() Emmons glacier melting into a river. That river is about the same color as White River. ![]() A hidden lake I found behind a mountain during a hike. Alright, now onto the second part of my trip: John Wayne Marina. Very low tide ![]() Bird ![]() John Wayne Marina is a pretty nice place. 22 acres of land donated by John Wayne's family. John Wayne himself frequently visited the area and "envisioned a marina in the scenic bay prior to his death. Eventually, this vision became reality under the ownership and auspices of the Port of Port Angeles." Part three: Hiking up Hurricane Ridge to Hurricane Hill. It isn't really a hill at all but it is a mountain. The ride up to Hurricane Ridge. Hiking up Hurricane Ridge to Hurricane Hill, pt. 2 The Winter Trail The trail to Hurricane Hill gets slick with ice and snow during the winter on some parts, so they use this offset to avoid that in the colder months. ![]() Windswept pine tree Hurricane Ridge has earned its name for one reason and one reason only; its incredibly high winds. I myself am used to the wind because I get about the same amount every morning where I live, but this tree sure isn't. It's actually still growing too. ![]() A deer ![]() A mountain goat. These guys are very dangerous when they want to be. ![]() Some snow patches ![]() Lots of clouds and the Strait of Juan de Fuca ![]() Old Ashes. The remains of a section of forest that catastrophically burned down in the 1800's. Not much has grown there since.

Little intermission between sections here, but this is when I was travelling to Victoria, British Columbia. See the highest peak on those mountains right in front? That's Hurricane Hill.

Part four: Victoria, British Columbia Incredibly well preserved Pygmy Mammoth. On display in the Royal British Columbia Museum, originally discovered in Siberia. Doesn't this look like something from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? I think it does. ![]() Seriously, they didn't even make a copy. This is the REAL one. ![]() The reason most of its fur is gone is because of how it was preserved; in ice, snow, mud, and some bacteria. ![]() Mammoth Tusks ![]() ![]() Cottontail Rabbit Skull ![]()
