Nildro moved along beside Nettle. It had been a few days since the pfeffa encounter, and both were tired. Just then, they emerged into a small clearing.

"Nettle, I don't smell any elil. Do you think this would be a good place to begin a new warren?"

She looked at her friend expectantly.

Nettle stared in disbelief at Nildro.

"You want to start a warren? But there are only two of us! Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of starting a new warren, but it won't survive very long unless we get more rabbits."

Nildro twitched her nose impatiently.

"Yes, I know, but just imagine--we could get a few bucks and more does from surrounding warrens, and this spot doesn't seem to be too full of elil. It would be perfect! If only there were a way to find more rabbits..."

The doe trailed off as she turned her head towards Frith.

"Nettle? Have any suggestions?"

Nettle listened to Nildro's words, and was soon daydreaming about the possibility of starting a warren where they were. "This really would be a fine spot," she thought.

After a while, she suddenly realized that Nildro had asked her a question and was expecting an answer. She snapped back to reality, and tried in vain to come up with an answer that made sense.

"Uh...I don't know any nearby warrens...the one where I was born is...really far away..."

She took a few months to clear her thoughts, and remembered something.

"You remember the farm we visited a few days ago? The one with that nasty cat? Maybe there are other rabbits there."

Nildro brightened.

"Of course! But... we didn't exactly get to see the farm. How would we find any rabbits--if they're actually there, of course."

Nildro contemplated for a while, then, wondering out loud, said:

"Hmm, I did catch a glimpse of a large hrududu not to far from where I was attacked... if we could somehow get on top of... no... but, yes--there was a steel hill next to it, all slanted and whatnot. Humans are so weird. But if we... yes, we could. Nettle, I've got it!"

Nettle listened to Nildro, but did not understand a thing. She had not paid close attention to the farm when they were there, so she did not recall any "large hrududu" or "steel hill". "I'll probably understand when we get there," she thought.

"Yes, humans really ARE weird," she said. "Anyway, the farm is a few days' journey away, maybe we should rest before going there?"
