Relaxing at the stillness that she felt overtake the rabbit beneath, Sage lifted her head and watched his eyes open, seeing the confusion that lingered in them. In that moment, her concern and care turned all at once to embarrassment, realizing the compromising position she had put herself in. She hurriedly shifted her weight off of Runt, allowing herself to land beside him on her back with a shoulder still brushing against him.

Letting the silence settle as though what just happened may be washed away if given enough time, she looked over to Runt with a hint of concern creeping back into her icy gray eyes, whispering, "You scared me, is all." Then she blinked, and that glint of vulnerability faded away once more, leaving the doe to be shrouded by an impenetrable front. "You're all right, then?" She asked, looking back up to study the ceiling and trying her best to ignore the embarrassment that hung over her still.

---------

In her frenzy, Cayenne could almost not process the buck's voice that fell upon her ears- it was, in fact, the gentle touch of his nose that sent a jolt through her body, her pair of shining blue eyes suddenly drawing back up. With a jump she turned to see Rowan now beside her and for a moment was overcome with desperate relief. All at once she drew towards him and pressed her cheek into her neck, unable to contain the teary joy that she was full of. "Frith-rah, Rowan, I thought you were a goner, I was so scared that I'd lost you and, oh--" Becoming aware of herself, flew back once more. Still, a smile was present on her face for a few lingering seconds--before she registered what he had just said.

Pivoting, and searching the sky once more, Cayenne gasped at the realization. She had just spoken to Arvens this morning- just met him yesterday. And now he was DEAD? In shock, she looked at the faced of those around her, gaze finally stopping on Rowan. A dry seriousness hung about her as she contained tears once more, not quite sure what to say. "Let's..." she cleared her throat and looked up at the sky that was once more clear. "Let's just get away from this farm."

At Gooseberry's response, Fireweed flashed a tiny smile at her--no trace of sadness in her eyes--all before turning back to the group with a kind of bile rising within her at the sight she met. Cayenne sobbing-- and Rowan getting all bothered about it? And all of these other rabbits floating in a mourning state that seemed to unify them. She looked at the sadness on the faces of those around her and mimicked it for herself, concentrating on allowing a few tears to well up in her eyes.

She watched Cayenne take a few slow hops in the direction of the forest lining, stopping only once and leaning in close to the other doe called Gooseberry. A hushed thank you for her concern was offered before the doe looked back at the group. "Let's go," she said stonily once more.

((Alright then, I'll go ahead and throw myself in. xD I saw this wild opportunity... Forgive me... XP This post probably has a million things wrong with it, I sincerely apologize... I'll clear up any mistakes...

By the way, it is Fireweed that Bralvao ran into, he doesn't know what she's up to, or hate her or anything, the color of her fur just startles him silly~

Also, just so it's clear, these two know nothing of Owsla or anything like that so they're completely naive to what the other rabbits may be thinking or such...))

Bralvao was running. He wasn't really thinking about what he was doing, it was almost like the state of being tharn, but not quite. He was a runner. When he was scared, before going tharn, he would run, and run, and run, until he came to his senses and usually realized he'd gotten lost in the process. Not a stupid rabbit, just... Different. And this was one of those cases. He was stopped shortly after, subconsciously, noticing a group of rabbits. In an attempt to stop himself, he dodged several of them, but one happened to cause a small collision. It was a reddish doe, and Bral had run straight into her. He was knocked back, stunned for a fraction of a second, before staring at her, as if finally tharn after all the running. He didn't know this doe. But rabbits, to him, are a small source of fear, and to see a reddish brown one was startling. Perhaps she was not too bright, certainly not a neon red color, but it seemed to be seen as a hazard in the buck's mind. It seemed to clearly speak, 'danger... danger!'. Scrambling to get away, both from the strange doe and from the other rabbits as well, he dashed in the other direction, avoiding any rabbits in his path with fast reflexes. Only, however, to run into another doe; this one more familiar. Naru, who responded bitterly.

"Ugh, Bralvaonahl! Watch where you're going!" She yelled promptly.

"N-Naru! I'm so glad it's you!"

"Stay with me this time or we'll both be in trouble!" She was so lost in her anger that she didn't realize until a moment after... They were almost directly in the path of the small group of hlessi. Exactly one of two things they had been trying to avoid. Again she muttered to herself, 'Embleer rabbits...'

Bralvao cautiously hid behind his stronger sister, while she scanned the group of rabbits, showing her front teeth threateningly ever so slightly, wanting to make it clear that she is not the average doe; she knows nothing of Warren life, and will attack first, ask questions later. Besides the white buck with the owl feather, these seem like normal rabbits to her. All threats. Normally she would have run by now, but her brother seems exhausted already from running this far, as is she, and she wants to see what these rabbits will do. Fight or flight, the response behaviour... Which she chooses in hard to guess. Running seems the harder option and she's hardly about to ask these other hlessi personal questions. She merely gives a very hateful, icy glare.

It must had been her voice that brought me back, Runt thought, looking intently at Sage. He was glad to be himself again, to be back to reality. Being taken by a vision had never been a pleasant experience for him, but the recent one in which his body had been pierced by talons of the hawk had been worse than most. If he had not woken up, then he would probably have to endure that pain until the moment of death. He shivered at that thought.

What had been the point of that vision (or dream or whatever he should call it) though? He could feel anger rising in his chest. What had been the point of having him experience other rabbit’s death struggles, if he couldn’t do anything to affect the outcome? It would had been more useful to have that vision a lot earlier, like before Arvens had left the burrow, but having it at the exact moment he had been attacked? Runt didn’t know who should he thank for his “gift”, but if he had met him, her or it at this very moment, then he would tell them that their timing wasn’t worth hraka.

Suddenly Runt realized he had been staring at Sage for a long time now, without answering her question at that. He turned his gaze elsewhere, feeling some embarrassment. “I’m fine now. Thanks to… thanks for asking,” he said, then added, “I think that buck with the feather in his ear is dead though.”

---

Dash looked up to the sky, his eyes downcast. Just when they thought they were safe they lost a rabbit. He hadn’t known Arvens for long; after all he had met him just yesterday. They had been practically strangers to each other. And yet…

“My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today,” he said in sad quiet voice, hanging his head, his ears lowered, his eyes closed. He had spent a moment in silence, before somebody else said:

“Dash. We have to go now.”

Dash opened his eyes. It was Rowan standing over him. The big buck looked exactly how Dash felt. He looked around, at the rest of the group. It seemed nobody was unaffected by Arven’s death…

Dash rose to his feet and picked up the carrot he had stolen from the farm. At least the raid had been a limited success. Not that it mattered now.

He was following Cayenne, when suddenly a new rabbit run into their group, specifically into Fireweed. For a moment, Dash thought that they were being attacked, but he noticed that unknown rabbit was too terrified for that to be the case. The stranger turned around and run in opposite direction, obviously trying to get away from this place as fast as possible, only to collide with yet another rabbit, a doe. The buck quickly hid behind her, as she bared her teeth at them threateningly.

Normally Dash would come up to the pair, say hello in friendly manner and ask them who they were. However, he needed only one look at her to realize that to her they were just a threat, not potential friends. It was probably better to keep some distance and not to do something that could be interpreted as an attack.

It was evident that Runt's mind was still clouded over with trouble, as he vacantly looked at her for a long time--for a moment, she allowed herself to attempt to see through the guarded, fearful eyes that he bore in his skull, but could reach no distance within him: no trace of any emotion other than discontent.

She was so overtaken with the task of reading his face in the dark that it almost startled her when he looked away and relayed her the news of what he had seen in his head.

The buck with the feather in his ear...

...and an image flashed through her mind at that point--
a tired buck finding a broken little doe named Sage collapsed in the brambles, doing everything that he could in order to get her to safety...
and all that embleer doe could do was wonder about the feather in his ear...

Something inside of her swelled at the news of his death, suddenly, and for a moment, a broken look of sadness crossed her face. However, quick as it had come over her, it disappeared once more, leaving her with an apathetic look as she turned back to the ceiling, sighing out of her nose. "Huh" She did not even bother to challenge the vision; instead she gave a slow nod. "That's tragic."

------------

As she was suddenly knocked to the ground, Fireweed felt a pulse of indignant anger, and for a moment prepared herself to claw out the eyes of whoever had knocked her down--but the mysterious buck had already scampered on to hide behind a doe who stood as though she were ready to destroy the entire group. Instantly, Fireweed was in her own defensive position, teeth bared and legs quivering, prepared to pounce at any moment. "Introducing yourself would have been just as sufficient," she growled, her condescending tone reclaiming it's natural right over her voice.

At the sight of these new rabbits--all riled up and ready to fight--Cayenne found herself fighting the urge to groan. It felt as though she had been away from their little newfound warren for a year, and she was eager to get back. Patiently, she stopped beside Gooseberry and looked to Rowan, who was saying nothing. With all of her sorrows evident in her voice, she crept forward in order to stand in between the threatening Fireweed and the nameless doe. "We are not the enemy you need be worrying about," she said softly to the stranger. She glanced up at the sky once more before saying, "There's a hawk nearby--not to mention a hungry fox we stumbled across yesterday. One death today has already been far too many." With her eyes honest and sad, she looked straight at this other doe, and then to the frightened buck that crouched behind her, and gave as friendly as possible of a look. "If I were you I would not be traveling right now--no matter where you are going to. We've a little warren just a walk off in that direction open to anyone who needs cover. It's small, but will soon be bigger... We are all travelers. We do not wish to fight." Again, that genuine look crept into her eyes as she turned her head to see the group of rabbits that stood around her.

It was not until that point that she fully realized the way she had just addressed a stranger, obviously drawing some sort of attention. It made her mouth twitch uncomfortably and a flustered expression come over her face, wondering how she had ever been able to achieve such confidence. Now not knowing who to look to, she gave a shaky expression to Dash as though asking if she had done well.

“So you believe me?” Runt said, surprised that Sage would accept his statement without proof or questioning him how could he know such a thing. Then again maybe she was just trying to humor him. After all that had happened in last few moments, she was probably thinking he was mad and dangerous. She was only acting like she believed him to keep him calm until others return. Understandable reaction.

Runt started thinking about the vision again. What had been its point, if he had been unable to prevent Arvens’ death? Or maybe he would had been able to do that, if had gone with others instead of staying in warm safe burrow? Maybe if he had been there, he would had been able to warn Arvens and the rest about hawk? Runt felt guilt gripping his heart. Maybe what had happened to Arvens had been his fault?

He got up and moved to the exit of the burrow. He needed to be alone. “I’ll be outside,” he said to Sage, “Grooming my special place.” He hoped that this last statement will make her think twice before she decides to follow him. He hopped up through the tunnel to the outside, not waiting for her response…

---

“Well spoken, Cayenne,” Dash whispered, smiling reassuringly. He was quite impressed with her little speech. She was beginning to sound like a Chief Rabbit. Cayenne-rah… It did have a nice ring to it.

Rowan observed a new doe intently, ready to jump between others and her, if she decides to attack. He hoped it wouldn't be necessary though. This mysterious doe looked like she knew how to fight, so it would do them more good to have her as their ally rather than their enemy. Maybe Cayenne’s speech will convince her to become the former. Rowan had to admit that Cayenne knew how to speak. He nodded to her briefly, to show her he thought she had done well.

(Sorry, I haven't been on for so long, but I'll try to catch up)

Frostbitten was stunned, he hadn't known the buck's name that had took his place. Maybe Frith was angry at him for choosing a life of peace for a while. Now there was talk about a hungry fox. Frostbitten was ashamed, he should have been the one to be picked up by that hawk. He was a freak, a snowy white rabbit born in the spring. His mom reassured him that the white would go away, but it never did. The warren that held him soon learned that he did unnatural rabbit things and kicked him out because of it; he never cowered when a fox came about, he never bolted from a hawk that was in the sky.

"A pity, I always jealous of hawks," Frost said to himself. "I always wished I could fly like them, but now...nothing. Owls on the other hand...so silent. Maybe I should just check out this doe and leave, before someone else gets hurt or killed for my sake."

For a moment, Naru merely sets her vicious glare on Fireweed, harsh and threatening. She noticed the reddish doe's posture, and her words, although she couldn't make them out, the mere tone of the voice stung. She could sense hostility and possibly a bit of irritation and that's enough Naru offered a comeback of her own. "One wrong move and you'll be begging for the Black Rabbit to hunt you down and end your pathetic existance." Her statement, although barely audible, said mostly to herself, and more out of anger than anything, she was not afraid to usher such words, it does still indicate that she does indeed consider these rabbits a threat and will kill any one of them to defend herself should the situation turn sour, even dying herself if only to ensure that her brother escapes safely.

Naru does consider the group of hlessi a serious threat. Although, the same could be said about any number of hlessi that the two siblings come across. She pauses as Cayenne begins speaking, pausing to listen to her words. Narrowing her eyes, she responds icily, "We are aware of the hawk. We have been seeking shelter from it, when we caught your scent and my brother bolted off..." She hints some resentment near the end of her statement, indicating that if they hadn't been here in the first place, this little meeting never would have happened in the first place. She has no problem making her apparent distrust of strangers clear, but turns to her cowering brother behind her.

Bralvao shudders at the other doe's words. A... A fox? He thought, before looking into his sister's eyes. "Naru... We haven't seen any fox recently... Maybe...?" As the darker doe cast him a glare, he shrunk to the ground again. Bralvao was known for being extremely timid, but these rabbits knew something they didn't, were apparently not quite hlessi at all, and above all, knew of a place to hide for the time being, at least. He was wary of strangers too, but not to the same point. In his mind, the possibilities are weighing up, and he thinks that this might be the best option right now. Despite a possible scolding from his sister, he looks up at her, an honest, pleading expression shown in his eyes. Fireweed scared him, if even in the slightest, but the other doe seemed honest and more trustworthy. Although the memories at this time are faint, he thinks back to the rabbits that raised them, most now perished. Some of them were harsh, but others were friendly and loving... Perhaps these rabbits are not so different? Though the idea of living with other rabbits again, with strangers, if only for a short time is odd to him, Bralvaonahl pleads his sister simply with his gaze to consider this.

Naru groans, unsure. Although she rarely shows it to him, much less in front of all these strangers, she does have a weak spot for Bralvao... She stops to think. She resents the idea of sharing space with a bunch of strangers... But... The thought of a fox does worry her. If they don't find a place to sleep tonight, and the homba happens to cross them, their situation would be near hopeless... Her brother's soft gaze seems to put her hostility at bay, if only for a moment... Although still skeptical, the doe does nothing but nod... Not wanting to give it away... Her hostile self reappears shortly, she may still attack should things get bad, but for now, she'll go along, partly anyways, with what the rabbits are saying....

Naruthyl does have one question, and Bralvao has it too. He asks her perfectly out loud, for anyone to hear... "What's a Warren?" She simply shrugs, and glances around, as if unsure what to do at the moment...

ooc: Ugh, this is a horrible post, it was rushed and after 9 days away from this I didn't have time to reread their bios... Oh well. At least I posted xD

(Hi all, would like to join in but kind of new. My first thought after reading the recent events was to role play the fox, but not sure if you're only suppose to make rabbit characters? Would probably make one of those eventually too. so how does one start? sorry for interrupting)

(I don't think we have a rule against roleplaying creatures other than rabbits. Firstly, you should go to Character descriptions thread and post your character's sheet and then you can join this RP. However, I would wait a bit with sending a fox to hunt our rabbits, although maybe that would cause them to reach the burrows in much quicker manner. :D )

((yeah, they might make friends much quicker if they have a common enemy to worry over, I certainly wouldn't kill off anyone's OC, but thought you guys might have fun outwitting a fox is all. You'd have to think like El-ahrairah! Can't resist playing the 'bag guy' for some reason. Ok going to make a couple of character sheets then and get back to you))
