Gooseberry danced on her paws restlessly, twisting her head to stare after the departing string of rabbits. Anything and everything in the world was more attractive right now than following Fireweed, but what choice did she have? The newest brown buck, or as Gooseberry liked to think, the crazy but very kind rabbit that saved her life, was right. Her paw was starting to feel numb, she didn't need to be a healer to know that wasn't good. She speedily caught up with him, hoping to save him from the awkward company of rabbits that were staring at his injuries. One look at Fireweed and she wanted to simply push her into a bush this time. Anything to wipe the idiotic smile off her face. Not bothering to play her game, Gooseberry just widened her eyes in a 'really?' look and then a pitying one. "You never told me your name," she added far too long after the conversation had ended. "Oakweeod warren? I've just heard tales, made up I think. It sounds like quite a story, I'm sure when everyone's rested up a few wouldn't hesitate to help you ind it, I wouldn't mind the adventure myself. First day I leave my own warren perimeter and I get attacked by a homba, I'd say that's a bad omen." I studied my paw as I traveled. "Once Cayenne is done with the serious injuries I might go to her.......no urgency, might not be running for a while though." Gooseberry slowed her three legged bound, watching the fierce new doe observing but not seeming to find a space. Gooseberry lowered her head, "you can follow us if you like, Fireweed as leader isn't my first choice either." (I know! How long are these points!!! I love you all for it

Frost nodded at Rowan, before going to examin Arrow, who seemed to be bleeding from three cuts on his face. While he was doing this, he plucked a blade of grass and twitled wih it until it became as sharp as a needle. He put the end of the grass needle into his mouth as he wen over and tore off a leaf. He twitched his nose in thought. He went back over to Arrow and placked the leaf on the cut; he then tore a nearby thin vine and put it through the small hole he poked in the blade of grass. Taking the leaf off-which was now stained with blood- Frost started to stitch up he wounds. He had watched this technique by watching a human stitch up a dog one day. Although, Frost daren't got any closer, but it gave him a good idea just in case someone needed it one day. "You got somewhat lucky," Frost said to Arrow. "I can stitch it back up, but I don't know about your eye. My orders are that you shall not be able to do anything rash for a while. You may eat, but until the stitches are ready to come out, don't try to sleep on them." With that, Frost had finished the stitching on Arrow before moving onto one of he other wounded rabbits. |

Naru rolls her eyes and sits down, absolutely refusing to follow that stupid red doe. "Like I said, over my dead body!" Naru casts Fireweed a "you think I care if I hurt your feelings?" look. She won't be going after the group until everyone else has. She plans to follow at a distance if at least to keep an eye on her brother. She glances over at Rowan... He seems to be the leader, and she notices this, but wonders what he'll say about her reluctance to do what she was told. Not that I care or anything... Eventually though, Naruthyl does follow after the group. "Only to make sure that embleer doe doesn't hurt my brother..." she mutters to herself. She sees a strange doe talking to him... She catches a few words, negative to herself... She doesn't really care. Better that the others don't like her than like her and think that it's ok to take advantage of her. She narrows her eyes at the thought. Once the warren is in sight she takes a look around... The silver buck glances over at Sage. For a moment he just gazes into her eyes, not sure what to say immediately... Then he swallows his nervousness and decides to just jump into the conversation. He's a bit set back by her comment, and shakes his head. "Oh, no... Naru is my sister... She's harsh but she wouldn't ever actually hurt me... Though, to me at least, she is scary now and then... She keeps me safe though so it's ok..." He pauses to think. It almost did seem like she was going to hurt him... Naru would very rarely strike her brother. It was never anything serious as far as injuries go of course, but usually it was only when she meant to push him out of his state of cowardly behavior in order to get her point across, or when she was extremely confused or agitated... But again, it was never without reason, and never resulted in a serious injury. It might hurt but she would never shed blood. He glances over at Sage when presented with her second question. "Yeah... I'll be fine... To be honest, this whole situation with the warren, er, thing, is rather new to us... We've been hlessil for as long as I can remember so it's just a bit odd..." He gives a nervous chuckle. "Though, I'll be honest, the homba didn't help at all..." ooc: We'll see. There are just a few problems I'm running into here and there, but half the time idk what to post, lol... I appreciate the help getting me involved. Bralvaonahl shouldn't have much of a problem... Naruthyl on the other hand is gonna continue to be reluctant. XP I do have an idea concerning a post on how they'll react to burrows though lol Edited by PancakeShiners, Feb 28 2013, 08:37:49 PM.

Rowan looked after the rabbits who were following Dash and Fireweed into the bushes. At least now most of the group had some degree of protection. That left Rowan, Arrow, Frost and Cayenne outside of hiding place. Once they all get to safety they will be able to talk about what to do next and also they will have… a proper introduction. There hadn’t been much to time earlier to learn everybody’s name, with hawk and fox hunting them and so on… Rowan started examining his left forepaw closely. It wasn’t bleeding anymore, thanks to Fireweed. He was grateful for that. He tried putting some of his weight on that paw and immediately winced in pain. As soon as he felt it, Rowan lifted his paw from the ground and noted mentally not to use it in near future. That fox had bitten him well. But what he would do now? He could still move around using three other limbs, but that would slow him down, not to mention he couldn’t fight as efficiently as usual. Until his paw heals Rowan won’t be much of help to others. He will be more like a burden… No!, Rowan thought, anger flaring in his mind. He couldn’t let that little injury make him useless! He put down his paw again and tried to fight the pain. He hopped to Frost, moving like he was a perfectly healthy buck, even though he wasn’t. “Are you finished?” he asked the healer-rabbit in not polite way. Anger was the thing which was helping him ignore his hurt paw, but it also reduced the quality of his social skills. “We can’t stay here for long.” --- “Here we are,” Dash said, standing at the mouth of small burrow he had slept in last night. It wasn’t much, but right now they didn’t have anything better. Not until they start digging. Dash sighed. He wasn’t looking forward to digging, but there was no other way to turn this one little scrape into something that could comfortably accommodate so many rabbits. While he wasn’t enthusiastic about this work, Runt would surely hate it… Where was he anyway? “Where is Runt?” Dash asked, looking around. His eyes finally stopped at small doe, who had stayed behind with Runt while Dash and others had been gone. Edited by Myrkin, Mar 6 2013, 06:28:58 AM.

As Bramble reached the safety of the bushes he turned to Gooseberry. "My name is Bramble" he said politely. "I'm sure by Friths rays that my warren is somewhere to the east, but I won't know til I see the stars just how far away I am. I know this may sound odd, but I was brought here in a hrududu." Bramble realized that telling the whole truth of how he had blundered into a man trap that was out in plain view, would never do. It would just make him sound awkward and clumsy. They'd never accept him into their warren! So instead he elaborated just a little. "He had two big dogs... no three. Large and black with slavering jaws. They chased me into a well hidden trap that was sneakily placed behind some tall grass. Then the man drove me out here in his hrududu to hunt me down. He had a gun. I had to out maneurver him and the dogs, losing them in the under brush and getting them off my trail by plunging into a stream. It was quite a chase. It was after that that I picked up the tracks of the Homba who appeared to be tracking some rabbits. That's how I found you all." Well it was partially true. Just no dogs and the man had no gun. Minor details. "As for the Homba attacking you, Id say that was more bad luck than a bad omen. It's really not that uncommon. I'm glad you are ok." Bramble gazed out through the bushes at Frith. Sunset wasn't far away. He surveyed the group outside and eyed the direction the homba had gone. No sign of it. Hearing Dash speak Bramble scrambled back into the cover of the bushes. He glanced at the one burrow that Dash had pointed out. "Where are the other burrows?" He asked. The prospect of being above ground was a little nerve wracking considering there were so many elil about and he had the smell of blood on him. The cover of the bushes was fairly good, but one always felt far safer underground. I was then that Bramble noticed Naru, noting the look of malice towards Fireweed. He glanced at Fireweed to see what her reaction was. Moving closer to the red doe he whispered to her "I hope everything is ok. I won't let that larger doe hurt you" He glanced over his shoulder giving a 'don't you dare' look towards Naru. |

Frost swiveled his ahead as he worked on healing Sage. Rowan sounded a little bit rude as he asked if he was finished yet. "Excuse me, but are you a doctor?" Frost replied testily. "Because if you aren't, I would like it if you wouldn't rush me. You don't just put stitches in like magic y'know." In a way, he knew why Rowan wanted to get to shelter immidiately, but stitches just doesn't pop in. "Also, when we get into the warren, I would like to take a look at your paw." He winked at Rowan. "I know when a rabbit or one of the thousand is faking it. I've seen it before. If you want to, you can take Arrow to the warren and when I'm finished with Sage, I'll bring him back." |

[[I think I made a mistake. It isn’t Sage who is with outside group, but Cayenne. ]] At first Rowan wanted to ask what is “a doctor” or “stitches”, as he was confused by these new and strange words. Then he wanted to point out that Frost shouldn’t feel rushed by him, but by possibility of another elil attack. In the end he said: “I’ll stay. You need somebody on watch while you’re taking care of others' wounds.” He turned in direction the fox had gone. He kept his ears erect, ready to catch any sound, which would indicate there was another predator lurking close by. He was not going to let elil surprise them again. Again, he thought bitterly. If I was doing my job properly nobody would get hurt! He moved his forepaw across the ground, his claws scratching the soil. Edited by Myrkin, Mar 6 2013, 07:06:16 AM.

[[I have extremely limited internet access. >.> Using my schools computer. Blegh. Trying to keep up though!]] Faced the question that she had been wondering herself, Sage audibly sighed and followed to stand alongside the burrow with Dash. "Y'know... I'm curious about that one myself. But I'm quite certain that if he finds the need to wander out into the woods, he's prepared to wander on back." He face stayed stony as she gave Dash an apathetic look, keeping her concern for the one and probably only friend she'd ever make shrouded. Turning to the group, she gave them a thoughtful look, trying to figure out what all of their facial expressions could mean. She knocked a few pebbles out of the mouth of the hole with her paw and mumbled, mostly to Dash, "If you go to the back of the scrape there's a run... if you're at all interested in sleeping underground." She sneaked a glance upward, wondering how Dash would react to this, and if he was still concerned about Runt. She knew she certainly was. Cayenne stumbled back as Frost cut in to begin administering the strangest sort of medical care to Arrow's wound. The way the Frost composed himself, and how he spoke with such surety to Rowan, made her incredibly nervous. It was almost as though he thought himself to be a man. Clearing the her spot where she stood a behind the snowy white buck, Cayenne considered going to stand beside Rowan, but knew him to be in a bad state of mind. Rather, she stoof there quite uncomfortably. "I, uh," she fumbled out a few words, nervous in Rowan's. "I suppose I'd best go check up on Gooseberry and that other stranger." She sighed, disappointed with her timidity. As she turned to leave, she stopped a moment, turning back to look at Rowan in his ever anxious state--worried for his people, like the leader he was. Very softly, she crept back over to stand beside where her very first friend stood in alertness, careful not to block his view or move so close as to make him uncomfortable. With a shimmer of admiration in her eyes, Cayenne whispered: "You did really, really good out there, Rowan-rah." Then, as quick as though she were being pursued by the thousand, she turned and scampered back to find everybody else--perhaps if only to collapse beside Gooseberry in a nervous shamble. [[@Pancake: I think that's what's so charming about Naru. She's completely unwilling to give in to any form of friendship or connection with the other rabbits, and she has the definite possibility of growing out of her shell to appreciate and eventually care for the warren. :P]] |

Dash gazed at scrape in absent-minded manner for a moment. That doe (really, they will need to have a proper introduction, so they could all learn their names!) was right: Runt would eventually come back. Still, Dash couldn’t help but feel concerned for his little companion. These woods were far from safe and it wouldn’t be wise to let single rabbit wander around alone. Runt would probably laugh at Dash for worrying about him, what with his vision powers. Nevertheless, Dash would be more at easy, if he knew where his friend was. “I think I’ll go and look for him,” he said to Sage-whom-he-didn’t-yet-know-under-that-name. He sniffed the ground in front of the scrape. There was relatively fresh scent of Runt. As Dash begun to follow it, he noticed it was leading to behind the tree and then beyond the bushes. Luckily, it seemed that Runt hadn’t been going in direction of where the fox had run to. This didn’t mean he couldn’t run into some other predator, but… Dash hopped along the trail, quickly leaving other rabbits and ring of bushes behind... --- “Thank you, Cayenne. You did pretty well too… Wait, what did…?” Rowan spoke, turning abruptly after Cayenne. That was a bad idea, which was pointed out by his injured paw. He winced, but he was too surprised by what brown-furred doe had said to him to pay much attention to pain. She was gone and now he wasn’t even sure, if he had really heard her calling him ‘Rowan-rah’. He hoped she hadn’t done that. He didn’t want anybody to treat him like a Chief Rabbit. In his old warren Rowan had been an Owsla officer and he knew a few things about security, but that was it. There had to be more to ruling the warren than that. He didn’t think he was a right rabbit to do it and he would be quite content, if his role in this new warren was limited to protecting it. That was something he knew how to do. Most of the time anyway... “Rowan-rah,” he muttered to himself quietly, somewhat amused by absurdity of that idea. “Frith forbid.” |

((OOC- Was wondering if we could skip forward a tad and assume that everyone is introducing themselves to each other? I think it would be a long and tedious process to go back and forth with "and your name is?" Then wait for a reply. Since they are all together (except for Runt who could be mentioned by the others) maybe we could have a quick line such as "The rabbits all spend a moment to introduce themselvs to each other.?)) Vixen glanced at up at the evening sky. She'd have to make a move soon despite the pain in her paw. She'd been thinking long and hard about her predicament. Hunting would now be all but impossible for her as she could not possibily run. She considered the chicken coop at the farm. Chickens roosted at night and were easy prey, but then there was the dog to consider and the man and his gun. "Too risky" she thought to herself. Her last trip there has not ended well. She wondered if she would now starve to death. She had another concern too. Her mate had abadoned her at that very farm when they were chased by the man. She had not see him since, but she knew that in a couple of moon cylces she'd bring his litter into the world. How would she feed hungry pups on three legs? She'd have to risk the farm. She surveyed the tree's, spotting an owl high up in the branches and staring down at her. Vixen scowled. "What do you want" she snapped at it in hedgerow. "Have you come to gloat and go back and tell your lapine friends of how the fox they injured will now starve to death? Well think again. I'm barely scratched and will do quite well. Go bother some other preditor" Vixen rose up on her three good legs and hopped a couple of feet, glancing over her shoulder to see if the owl intended to follow. ------------------------ Bramble didn't wait for a reply from Gooseberry. She seemed quiet and deep in her own thoughts. He turned back to peek through the bushes again at the evening sky. "Night fall" he thought to himself. "It will bring out the preditors" Turning to Dash he asked "Do you want some help finding your friend? I'm fairly well trained in tracking. After we find him I wouldn't mind seeing where that homba went. I think we'd best keep an eye on it." |

The owl stared at the fox as it walked away. She noticed that her paw was limping. "I say, if you need you paw fixed I can talk to the Healer," Midnight hooted at the fox. "But I don't think he'll help you since you attacked his friends." --- Frost finished up on whatever he was doing on Sage. "All right, finished with Sage," Frost said. "Okay Rowan, when we get to the warren, I want to take a look at your paw." |

Bralvao stops when he sees the burrows, as if tharn. To many rabbits, a burrow is safety. But for these two littermates. it's a deep, dark, abyss, bringing back memories of blood and zorn. He steps away. "I... I-I won't go in there..." As Naru pulls up behind him, he darts behind her, trembling. Naru isn't surprised. What little they knew of burrows was shrouded in darkness and horror. She absolutely refuses to sleep in the burrows, and she wouldn't be surprised if Bral does the same thing. Not liking to see her brother so scared, she gives him a reassuring nuzzle. Shortly after that, she stops, embarrassed. She hopes no one saw that. Naruthyl doesn't care if the others know she cares for her brother. It's that she's showing her weakness for her brother by doing that... She narrows her eyes. ooc: Sorry for the short post, wasn't quite sure what to do. ^^' Edited by PancakeShiners, Mar 15 2013, 07:54:31 PM.

[[@DewDrop, quick correction, I think it was Arrow that was injured--Sage is already inside. :P But no worries, name swaps happen to rabbits too. Also, @Silvy. Dude. Are we gonna get to find out more of Vixen's background? I'm actually approximate 14.63 times more sympathetic for her hearing her abandonment story. :/]] Fireweed had been surprised at Bramble's kindness. With everyone throwing such disgust towards her lately, it was a tad refreshing to see a kind paw being lent her way. For a moment, she smiled at him with a genuine smile, before the glint happiness dimmed from her eyes and, into her mind, wormed the memory of the last buck who had offered her such kindness. Instantly, her face solidified once more into an elevated look of mystery, and she simply gave him a look of feigned modesty in return. She'd never let anything like that happen to her again. ------ For a moment, Sage continued the act that she had no care for Runt's whereabouts or state of wellbeing, and shrunk back into her thoughts. Dash's words had barely reached her ears before he was gone, and as she watched him slip through the bushes, a jolt of energy went through her. She followed him promptly, rearing up beside Bramble. "Dash. That's your name, right? Let me come along if your after him..." she looked back at the group and shuffled closer so only Bramble and Dash could hear and lowered her tone. "I'm not quite familiar with these chaps, you know. To be left in a group of them sounds rather unpleasant, charming as they may seem. So, you lead the way, eh?" Her eyes flicked off in another direction, noticing a break of branches just beyond Dash. "...And if that's the case, why don't you lead us that way. Looks as good as any other, eh?" She broke away, not even waiting for the other two's approval to join the party, and paused only a few moments later to glance back at the two of them. "Sage. I'm Sage, by the way. Fun little fact I learned this morning... Sage..." ---- Cayenne glanced up from her anxious post, to where Bravlao was all in a tizzy in fear of the burrow. Thinking quick, she got to her feet and approached the two, crouching beside the doe and pretending not to notice the look of embarrassment that covered her face. She could see that the siblings were a tad introverted and untrusting. She thought silently for a moment, lips pursed in how she could comfort the two. They surely didn't seem happy to be with them, but letting them wander off once more, she felt, would be a very bad idea. If there were some way to get them to trust her... Calmly, she stopped down to speak with the pair, hoping they wouldn't take much offense to her intrusion. "I can understand your aversion to sharing a burrow with a strange bunch of misfits like us." She gave a warm smile, her fragile look of kindness once more creeping into her face. "If you would rather stay above ground, there's a hollow little nook in the tree there, you see? That was where we slept last night." She touched the buck comfortingly with her padded forepaw. "If you like, you could spend the night up there until you feel safe coming below ground. It's protection from the weather and cover from elil... And we're happy to share our home with you." |
