Rowan chuckled at Cayenne's words, "Then we would have to look to the sky, eh? That would make tripping over some roots quite probable." Then he added seriously after a moment, "I'm glad we are travelling together, Cayenne. It's funny. When I set out I didn't think I will be going to miss company of other rabbit after just two days."

---

Dash was sniffing the ground, which was wet from ongoing rain. The brown buck could smell the scent of alien rabbits. They must had come through this place not long time ago or at least Dash nose was saying so. He turned to his companion, who was resting nearby, breathing heavily. Runt was clearly not used to travelling for long distance. No wonder. After all, Runt had never left the warren's territory before.

"I caught the scent of the rabbits. Two at least," Dash said to grey buck "I think we should go after them and join them. The more of us the merrier and safer."

"Indeed," Runt responded, his breathing slowly returning to normal state "Run after them and bring them here, would you? I don't think I can move much farther right now."

"Alright... I will stop them, so you will be able to catch up with us."

"That's not what I said..." Runt started saying, but Dash was already gone. Small rabbit sighed loudly, "Always on the move." He slowly followed Dash trail.

OT: That was my intention, Speedwell. :) Although, you could say as well that this story might be the retelling of lives of completly different banch of rabbits. ;)

Cayenne nodded appreciatively, looking at him once more with her friendly gaze. "And I'm glad to have run into someone with a clue about surviving. As was clearly seen with our run in with the fox- I would have stood there stupidly if not for your directions." She had something else on the tip of her tongue when, a few paces back, she heard movement through the brush- the clumsy movement of some other animal headed straight on towards them, or so she instantly believed. She looked to Rowan, wondering if he'd noticed.

Other rabbits who just happened to befriend another bird? :p Well, it's possible, I suppose.
Hrmm... your introduction of characters makes me think I ought to throw another of mine in... :D Unless... she's been following, unnoticed, all along *bwahaha.*

Dash was threading his way through the bush quickly, but also noisily. He should had moved more quietly, but it was too late to fix that mistake. He could only hope, that the strangers weren't scared by his coming. At last, he emerged out of the bush and faced two alien rabbits. He examined them briefly with his eyes, noticing that the buck looked like somebody, who knew how to fight, if his size and scars were any indication. Dash's gaze rested on the doe. She was small, not so small like Runt though, and there was some undefined charm in her bright eyes.

"Hello there," Dash greeted those strangers friendlily "I am Dash. What are your names?" he asked in very casual manner, as if they hadn't just met in the middle of woods.

Cayenne started up suddenly as this new rabbit emerged from the bushes, still on edge from all of the wilderness travel. She blew out a breath suddenly, shaking her head and glancing back up to find this new rabbit, Dash's, gaze resting on her. "You come racing along the countryside to learn our names?" she said very bluntly after a few moments of tense silence. Still, before she had time to learn if this biting comment had had any affect on him, she said calmly. "I'm Cayenne- and this charming fellow here is Rowan." She shook her head again, hoping that it wasn't out of place for her to sarcastically poke fun at Rowan, despite the fact they were still near strangers. "Where are you from, Dash?"

Dash chuckled at Cayenne's comment, "Actually, we wanted tp join you. It's safer to travel in group after all."

"We?" Rowan asked, staying alert and looking around. This other buck seemed to be friendly, but appearences can be deceiving. Even if he wasn't going to turn into a threat, Rowan prefered to keep vigilance, just to be on the safe side.

"Oh, yes. There is two of us," Dash answered casually "My companion should get here soon. I run ahead to catch up with you and stop you." He turned to Cayenne. "We come from a place called Greenweed Warren. You probably didn't hear of it. It lies far away from here."

"And I'm glad it does. The more distance we put between us and that place, the more happy I will be," Runt said snidely, finally reaching the clearing where everybody else was. Dash just raised eyebrows and said deadpan:

"Happy? You are never happy."

Runt snickered at thah statement, but said nothing to it. "Who are your new friends then, Dash?" he asked after a few moments of silence. He looked at Cayenne and Rowan, appraising them.

"Rowan. Cayenne. Let me introduce my... friend. He is called Runt. Like me, he comes from Greenweed Warren."

Cayenne looked from Dash to this new buck, Runt, whose sadistic air about him was prominent. She turned away, looking to see if Rowan had any particular, hopefully harsh, response to the situation. "This is becoming quite an event." She gave an ironic look. "I'm sorry I haven't any flay-rah to offer," she said cheekily.

From behind where the group now conversed, out of sight in the brush, a dark pair of eyes peered through the undergrowth at this little scene. Sage had been lying undetected for quite some time now, having been following Rowan (she'd learned his name to be) since she first spotted him a day or two ago. She had no reason for it, but she so seldom came across rabbits traveling alone, that she took up the opportunity to track after him. Thus far, it seemed that these others were none the wiser, and had hraka abilities of detection.

----
My apologies for that random hiatus. :P Went out of state for a short while. As for Sage: expect her to be following around our group for a while. She's not likely to blow her cover of make obvious mistakes. The only thing I could forsee is her falling into danger and calling for help, or Runt using his abilities as a seer rabbit, if we ever to get to see such. ;D

Runt didn't hear or smell anything, but he was quite sure there was someone, who was watching their little group. He closed his eyes, letting his mind wander. Someone. A rabbit. Runt didn't sense any danger, so this new rabbit would rather not pose a threat to them. He opened his eyes and looked at Rowan, Cayenne and Dash, but he didn't say anything. He was curious what that other rabbit would do, so he stayed silent.

Rowan was thinking about what Dash had said. A few moments ago Rowan and Cayenne were wondering how to recruit new rabbits to their non-existent (yet) warren and now two other hlessil wanted to join them. What a luck! Rowan looked at Cayenne and asked quietly (so Runt and Dash wouldn't hear):

"Do you think we should let them join us, Cayenne? Personally, I agree with Dash: it would be better to travel together."

---

It looks like Runt used his abilities, but he isn't going to do anything about Sage. Not at the moment, at least. ;)

Cayenne looked at him, humored. "I completely agree, Rowan. Safety in numbers, as well as the fact that there's no time to early to build our warrens population. It'd be fine for them to join us." She inwardly relaxed, trying to tell herself to quit being so defensively sadistic, as that was no way to win over others. She looked back at the two with less judgment in her. "But we ought to keep moving."

Sage felt a sudden twinge change in the air, as though there were a pair of eyes all about her, watching in curious judgment. She startled in surprise, but remained in her silent cover so as not to be found. She took a breath, shuttering in on herself, and pulled back from where she was: she'd still be able to tell when this group moved on, but she thought it best to edge away from this feeling of being watched.

----
Out of curiosity: Does Runt have the ability to penetrate dreams. :D I'd love to be able to use that for him and sage to connect.

"And where exactly are we going?" Runt asked, changing his focus from that other rabbit to Rowan and Cayenne. Rowan was just about to move at that moment, but he stopped, with one paw raised. He answered:

"Well... We plan to find a good place to start a new warren."

"Then you don't know where are we going, do you?" Runt sneered "Yo are just going forward, hoping for the best? What a briliant plan!" Dash nudged his side lightly to bring buck's mockering to a stop.

"Now, now, Runt. When we left the warren, we didn't have a better idea where to go either, so don't be so harsh on Rowan."

"Point taken, Dash. However, we won't find the best place to stay, if we keep going alongside this stream," Runt stated with strange tone of certainty. It almost seemed like he knew quite a bit about that which lay ahead of them. "We will have to cross it at some point," he looked at the creek more closely and added "Even though I am not sure, if I will be able to swim across. Someone will have to help me."

---

I am not sure, if I should give Runt more powers. He may have feelings about future or forthcoming dangers, but giving him ability to enter somebody's mind might be going a little too far.

Cayenne, who'd been quite anxious to move, as well, suddenly stopped where she stood and became very still. After a moment, she said very firmly, "No. No, we will not be swimming. That is out of the question."

Once again, this sounded quite defensive, and probably a bit rude, but this buck had been no shining beacon of charisma, himself. Just as well, her intense fear of water was something she could not handle, by no means. The rain, and being so perilously close to the stream were terrifying enough, and thus far she had only been handling it by finding solace in Rowan's firm and reassuring aura. This, however, would be nowhere near enough to make her put one paw in that stream.

;D That's fine- characters that powerful are probably bad ideas all the same.

Rowan didn't like Runt's sneering, but he kept his nerves firmly under control. This wasn't the time or place to get angry over a few snide words. Deep inside he had to admit, that this wasn't the best plan you could think up. It was more like no plan, but what else they could do? Rowan was about to voice his opinion about crossing the stream, but then Cayenne stated they will not be swimming. He looked at her observantly. The way she disagreed with Runt's idea... Was she afraid of water? Or maybe she felt too weak to try swimming across at this moment? Whatever the reason, Rowan was intent on finding it out, but now now. He will ask Cayenne later.

"Well... I'm not that keen on swimming either. Let's continue moving along the stream. Maybe we will find some other way to go across it," he said firmly, looking from Cayenne to Runt.

"That does sound like a plan to me," Dash said, wanting to move as quickly as possible. The quicker the set out, the quicker the will get to the right place to build a new warren. Dash didn't have much experience in that. He had not even dug much in his life, but he knew that four rabbits might be not enough to start a proper warren. Still, he remained optimist. Maybe they will find another rabbits, who would be willing to join them. It was going to be an interesting adventure, for sure.

Cayenne felt Rowan looking at her, no doubt confused by her abrupt refusal, but it was no matter she could fix no. Instead she turned away from him so he could not see her face, feeling a heaviness weighing down upon her. Then, her ears pricked up as she heard Rowan's proposal to continue along the stream, and she turned back suddenly, almost surprised that Rowan had listened to her insistence despite her reasoning. Also, she couldn't help but be pleased with Runt's idea being shot down. Ought to put him in his place, she thought to herself, regaining composure on all four paws before setting out with the group.

Sage, now noticing that the group was once more on the move, began forward again, followed by that odd sense of surveillance. It made her uncomfortable, but she was sure that it meant no harm for the time being. On silent paws, she crept along at the group's pace, feeling like a predator stalking it's prey. "Introducing," she whispered, perhaps for her own amusement, "the Black Rabbit herself."

Runt followed Rowan and Cayenne. Even thought he wasn't particulary happy with crossing the stream being delayed, at least they were going to do it at some point. There was something, a feeling, telling hime that they needed to go to the other side. If anybody had asked why they should do such a thing, he wouldn't be able to give a reason probably. Not the one that would convince them anyway. Yet, Runt had learnt over his life to trust his feelings without a doubt, even if he didn't know why he had them in the first place. Now he felt like a migrating bird, whos instinct was guiding him to his destination he had not seen before, but in his heart he knew it was there.

As they were moving along the stream, Runt noticed that Dash was throwing glances at Cayenne. It seemed like his companion was showing some interest in newly met doe. Runt just rolled his eyes at this. Dash hadn't changed. Even in the middle of nowhere, his mind wasn't preoccupied enough with possible dangers to not notice beauty of the doe.

Cayenne could feel eyes on her back as she walked, coming and going, but becoming more intense as they advanced. She cast back a glance, herself, and looked at Dash just as his eyes fell away, suavely pretending as though they'd never been looking. "Something to look at?" she asked blatantly, having no drive to make a huge deal out of it. It was things like these that she had no idea how to respond to--at her old warren she'd made herself undetectable.

As Sage peered ahead, she noticed that the group was headed for a rocky patch where foliage became thin. Though it was enough to hide her if she followed it correctly, but she didn't want to risk slipping, or being spotted, or sending a pebble tumbling, so she simply scurried ahead. If she were well across by the time they reached it, there'd be nothing to worry about. However, as she came to the end of it and slipped into the bushes once more, she spotted the shadowed silhouette of another rabbit: well fed, well groomed, and an impossibly important air about it. This rabbit looked down at her, having seen her long coming, and went from a relaxed sprawl to a silent pounce, almost like that of a cat, coming down upon Sage and nearly crushing her tiny frame. She shrieked, trying to balance if being found by these other would be worse than getting killed, and made her decision. She screamed louder, the fiery red rabbit biting into her neck, purely out of pent up frustration and the need to take it out on something. Kicking back for all she could, Sage swiped a back leg on hers and wriggled out of the grasp, disappearing into the distance just before any help could reach her, leaving this other doe to compose itself, take a calming breath, and stately attend to the slash.

Dash smiled apologetically when Cayenne had caught him looking at her repeatedly. He'd been sure that he had been hiding it well, but evidently Cayenne was very observant. Or perhaps he shouldn't had stared so much in the first place. Maybe all this traveling only with Runt had caused his manners to lack a bit.

"Forgive me for gazing at you. I couldn't help it. Sorry for that," he said honestly, looking straight into her eyes, but not too intensively. He didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable.

Rowan was walking forward, focused on screening area ahead of the group, so he wasn't listening to the conversation. Then, suddenly, he heard a horrible scream. This was the kind of yelp, that could only be emited by a creature in grave danger. Rowan instinctively fell to the ground, hoping that others will follow suit, so whatever was out there would have a harder time spotting them. He sniffed intently and smelled the scent, which was carried by the wind from direction of the scream he had heard earlier. He could smell two other rabbits! Two rabbits and nothing else. Why had one of them cried then? Were they fighting? Then, his nose told him, that one of those rabbits had run away.
