This doe, still boiling over with dissatisfaction, but no longer needing a stress reliever, turned her gaze downhill, where a new scent was coming in. That of a rabbit who'd seen travel, she could tell. Thinking quick, she faked a whimper and settle herself down, looking as vulnerable as possible. "Is anyone there?" she called. "Please, I'm hurt." She coughed, as well, just for good measure.

Cayenne, who'd been just about to respond to Dash's apology and already had forgiveness in her eyes, heard the sudden vicious growls coming from up ahead, and started up, looking immediately to Rowan, who was laying low to protect himself. She followed after him and stayed put, fearing visions in her mind of a homba, or pfeffa, or any nasty thing that would take them all out with just a glance. No one moved once the noises stopped, perhaps one of the creatures proving dead, but when a voice called out to them particularly... it was in heartmelting pain.

As soon as he heard the call for help, Rowan run towards the source of it. He didn't know who that rabbit might be, but it was the rabbit nonetheless. Rowan never had to be afraid of other members of his kind, so he was usually more likely to expect them to be friends rather than enemies. When he reached that stranger, he saw it was a doe and (if the fact, that she was was well fed and groomed, was any indication) one that was evidently well used to a good life. Rowan walked to her slowly, as to not scare her.

"I'm Rowan. Are you alright?" he asked, inspecting her closely, looking for any wounds on doe's body.

The amber doe looked up at this buck who'd come in, seeing that he held no fear, only ambition... which was just what she needed if she were to begin rebuilding her life, this time getting that which she was entitled to. She looked at him with innocent eyes, even managing a few forlorn tears as she said, "I was... I'm lost. And I was resting here, a-and this buck came out of nowhere. He forced me down before I could do anything, and..." she buried her face just in time to hide a smile that appeared on her face, thus keeping up the act quite nicely. Lying had been a skill that she'd picked up as a kitten, and had only strengthened throughout her life. "My leg. It's... I don't think I can..." Finally, she looked back up to this buck, this Rowan, and said in a cute sort of fumbled way that she'd seen bucks fall for in other does, "I'm Fireweed."

A few patches away, Sage collapsed herself, hearing the other rabbits reach the scene of the crime- some unexplained crime that she'd been the victim of. She opened her eyes and looked down woozily at the blood that was still dribbling out of her. The pain was pulsing, but slowly growing numb. Shuttering, she curled in on herself and, very slowly, began to lick her hurt paw, trying to keep from passing out.

Listening to poor doe's story, Rowan started to feel sympathy for Fireweed's misery. How could anybody attack a creature so innocent? That buck had been lucky to run away when he had had a chance or Rowan would make sure that the former would suffer for his actions.

"Don't worry, Fireweed," Rowan said reassuringly. "We will help you," he added, indicating himself and others, who were just approaching the scene.

---

It looks like Fireweed has convinced at least one rabbit about her story. ;)

I'm sorry this post is so short.

As Cayenne came through the bushes herself, a few moments after Rowan had charged in, she halted at the scene that lay before her: I distraught doe and a Rowan that seemed to have undergone a completely change, his gruff defensiveness replaced with kindness and care for this other... doe. Though she knew it to be silly, the idea that Rowan was giving attention of this sort to someone they'd not even met made her prickle. She looked at Dash who stood beside her as though to confirm that he saw what she was seeing, hoping that the frustration and sudden sense of competition was not as clearly seen on her face as it obviously was.

Fireweed, feeling a sudden swell of achievement, gave a shaky smile and nodded. Her brown eyes drifted from Rowan, standing before her, to three more rabbits who'd arrived at the scene. She studied them for a split second, gathering two things: The majority of this group was bucks, which would be much to her benefit, and that there was one odd card out, this being a doe. This troubled her, as she already knew that to seize and maintain a dominance, the best way to go about it was for her to be in position in which she had something that no one else could offer, for the time being, would just be the general attention of a doe. However, the plan was still in its early stages, and, therefore, could easily be shaped to attend to the problem of this other doe.
Turning back to Rowan with a shaken look in her eyes, she said "Thank you so much... Rowan." She whispered his name with a light hint of admiration and fondness. She stood up, and made a big point of wincing as soon as she put pressure on her leg. "Have you all... got a warren?"

---
And Cayenne's not at all thrilled. ;D My apologies if I'm turning this too much into a soap opera, we can steer it other ways if your hoping on themes other than trials of friendship and blossoming romance. ;D But we'll need at least a dozen characters before we can begin complexly weaving themes together.

Even though Cayenne had not spoken any word, Dash could read from her face, that she wasn't very happy with the ongoing scene. Naturally, he had known Rowan for too little time to tell, if his current behaviour was a normal result of his character or not. Nevertheless, Dash had to admit that Rowan was acting with less reserve towards this doe than he had acted towards Dash and Runt. Then again, it was a bit justified by the fact that this doe was injured. In response to Cayenne unspoken question Dash only made a move that could be interpreted as rabbit equivalent of shrug.

Runt was watching Fireweed in silence. She seemed to be an innocent creature, who had got a bad luck (to say the least), but there was something about her that made Runt suspicious of her. Quite often he could say almost instinctively when somebody was lying and now he sensed a deceit in Fireweed's story...

Meanwhile, Rowan was still focusing on Fireweed. "Not at this moment. We are travelling to start one though," he answered doe's question, looking at her injured leg with concern. "Are you able to move around?"

---

There is time for all kinds of themes, as long as neither of them completly dominates the RP and that hasn't happened yet. :)

I will think of new characters, but there is no rush. We barely introduced most of our current characters. ;)

Captain Arvens finally laid down in the soft dirt. He had been running for hours, days possibly. He stopped counting after a while. It was horrible. Ferrets everywhere....most of the rabbits never had a chance to get out, the Chief Rabbit included. Thornbrush warren was indeed gone, many close friends and allies gone to meet the Black Rabbit. How could we have not seen this coming? he thought to himself, we should've known man was afoot!. No point in beating himself up any longer. He hadn't seen another rabbit since Thornbrush's demise. He had hoped he'd bump into another rabbit running away, same as he was, but it never happened.

Arvens was in unfamiliar territory now. He had never ventured this far out in his life before. His captain instincts told him he wasn't being followed, but it was eerie all the same to be alone, with no backup, nobody to chat with, nobody to help you out. All alone. He forced himself out of the dirt again. This wouldn't do, lying here. He knew that. Something more sheltered would be appropriate if such a thing existed. Arvens checked a few trees and bushes to his east; nothing there. He turned left and towards the west. Not many trees but one in particular was surrounded by bushes. He didn't smell anything and ventured under the bush, if nothing else to get out of the sun for a bit. Weaseling between branches wasn't easy for a rabbit of his size. Upon hitting the roots, Arvens found a hole dug within the wood. It smelled like rabbit, and not something worse like a badger. He sniffed and waited some more. Nothing happened. If something was actually in there, it would have investigated the intruder by now. Arvens bravely stuck his head down the hole and barely managed to get in. Apparently this was not made for extra large bucks, he grumbled as he got to the end of the short tunnel. A tiny chamber led to three other chambers, all underground. Nothing had been here for quite some time, and with only one entrance, and hard to find at that, Arvens felt this was as safe as any place until he rested a bit. He didn't realize how tired he was until he finally laid down within the entrance tunnel. Should anything else attempt to enter while he was there, they would soon find out why he was a captain. He put his head on his forepaws, and rested.

OT: Heh, heh, I'm a thread killer! :p I'll help this out a bit more....

IT:

Arvens figured he had been resting half the day. There was still light at the top of the tunnel, but not as bright, indicating the sun had shifted and was now somewhere else in the sky. Nothing had bothered him, thankfully. He needed to rest badly. Stretching and clawing at the dirt, the captain looked back at the shallow burrow. Wonder what became of the creatures that built this place? It will do nicely for now, as concealed as it is nothing will bother me here. But no other rabbits make for a lonely existence. He sighed and slowly went up the tunnel. He sniffed at the air as he came to the crest. Nothing except the bramble...no eilil, but no rabbits either. Alone.....

Treading his way through the branches to the grass and trees, he slowly nibbled at the grass, ears twitching this way and that. Birdsong was light, and eerie. Maybe they all left because they got so damn lonely" he mused. He continued to nibble and twitch, moving from patches of grass and clover. The feather in his ear whistled, but beyond a slight breeze it was very still. Then his whiskers pricked...the faint scent of rabbit was about. Where could they be? Arvens wanted much to browse and seek them out in case they happened to be of the Thornbrush warren, running willy nilly about. At the same time, he didn't want to lose direction of where he currently was, with a safe place for rabbits to stay. No, it would be better if he stayed near the scrape, able to direct the rabbits if they got closer. Arvens moved closer to some trees--close enough he could make a mad dash to the bushes if need be, but far enough away he wouldn't give away where the place was should prey be out there. You just never knew.

Fireweed chewed over this answer for another moment. No warren... though it meant she'd have a lot less rabbits to win over with her new character, she thought with some disgruntle that she really was starting from scratch: before she was highest authority of anything, she'd have to build everything. Minor bumps along the way, she decided, and looked back at Rowan, seeming to truly take his question into contemplation.
"I may be able to...Ah!" she whimpered a bit. "If you all... if none of you travel too fast," she said with a pitiful downcast. "I can keep up. J-just please, don't leave me because I'm injured... That buck, he's still out there... he could," at that point, Fireweed was even able to slip a few tears out of her eyes, completing the scene. If not for her hunger for power, she would have made an acclaimed storyteller.

Cayenne tightened her jaw stiffly and looked away, at the sun slowly dipping in the sky. It'd be dark soon: a night that she wouldn't have to spend on her own this time. "We'd better go," she said tightly to Dash. "Sleeping here could be a bit too open. And besides... it's better if we get as far as possible from..." she cast another glance at the gurgling stream, feeling her fur stand on edge. "Besides," she finally said, recollecting herself. "I'm sure our hero Rowan-rah over there will be more than happy to carry that doe on his back." She turned tail from him, not angry at HIM specifically, but at herself for not having had the grand entrance that this other doe has.

Sage, suddenly twitching and starting up, could feel that the pressure in her paw had worked, and that the blood had stopped flowing. Looking around at her surroundings, she found that she, in fact, was not in an unfamiliar part of the woods. She had a burrow not far up that would be far safer than the bush she was in, pulling herself together, she very sorely got up and begin to limp through the brush, her vision pulsing and shifting, but she was determined. For perhaps a half an hour she trudged uphill with the thought of her burrow kept in mind. As she tumbled out of the brush and in sight of the burrow entrance, everything seemed to dim- sound and sight, and she just lay in the open, like tharn, but without the terror. Was this how she was to die? After leading a life where she only ever needed herself, she suddenly found that herself was the one who needed someone. Dying a virgin she thought bitterly. There's a shame.

I figured it could be a nice way to connect him into the story, as both are travelling on their own for the moment. :3 Did you have other plans?

OT: That works fine. :)

IT:

Arvens perked up again at the sound of movement. Elil? No, that he should have smelled, definitely not elil. The rabbit scent returned once again, stronger this time. For a rabbit, it was certainly making noise, and not very quick about its wits either. He moved slowly, curious about the rabbit, but something made him quickly stop. Its no wonder the rabbit was slow; he could sense blood, and this rabbit was wounded. Elil would come soon. Still thinking it might be one of his rabbits, Arvens moved towards the sound of the rustling, and gulped at the sight. The rabbit was bleeding from the paws and chest, and simply covered with blood. This was no small wound.

Arvens rushed over and peered at the rabbit. It wasn't anyone he knew, but this gal didn't have a chance unless he got her out of the open. "Formalities later," he said bluntly, "can you walk at all? I have a place where you can hide and heal but it isn't easy to get into. I don't think I could carry you through it." Arvens turned his head this way and that, always looking for signs of elil. Time was of the essence now.

Rowan's heart almost melted at the sight of doe's tears of pain and gloom. Again, he felt anger at the nameless buck, who had hurt this poor creature. Rowan had had his share of fights, but he had never seen such cruelty done by one rabbit to other. And what for? It was clear to Rowan, that Fireweed would never hurt a fly.

"Don't worry, Fireweed," Rowan said to doe reassuringly "Nobody is going to leave you behind or let that buck attack you again. I promise." Then, ignoring the tone of Cayenne's suggestion about carrying Fireweed on his back, Rowan did just that. He lay down on the ground, besides injured female to let her climb on him more easily.

Seeing this, Runt snickered incredulously. "Well... Look at that. It seems he likes to play a rabbit in shining fur, doesn't he?" he said to Dash and Cayenne.

Fireweed, feeling an intense satisfaction swell in her heart, gingerly said a few words of relief and gratitude and climb on, burying her face into Rowan's neck and clinging on in a dependent way, figuring that this was the type of buck who liked having something to take care of, and, if that was the case, she could easily become just that. Opening her eyes just a slit, she looked to the other group and could even see the frustration and envy on the other doe's face, which only added to victory. Even if she weren't out in search of an empire for her to control, she would've been fine doing this just as a pastime.

Cayenne, hearing this from Runt, had to use a huge amount of self-restraint in order to keep from making some other ridiculous and sarcastic suggestion, for fear that she may just push this conundrum further than it needed to go. Finally, in silent rage, she turned away from the scene and looked out into the distant, simply hoping that Rowan wouldn't offer to start licking Fireweed's wounds for her or anything.

Sage's consciousness was bubbling about, making everything that happened around her seem quite unreal and dreamlike. When a new rabbit came into her vision, she couldn't tell if she was hallucinating, or blessed by the presence of Prince Rainbow himself. She sat up wearily and tried to focus on what he was saying, but all she could discern was that he meant to help her. Her head spinning, she put herself back on numb paws and tried to stumble forward, looking around for the sight of the burrow. Dizzy, she leaned herself against the stranger for support. "Fire..." she whispered, seeing flashes of her attack flash before her and only being able to utter the one quality she could grasp: the other rabbits fiery red fur.

Arvens looked at the pale rabbit, now leaning against him, who couldn't walk at all, that much was obvious. She couldn't even talk to him, mumbling "fire" before her whole body was leaning against his. There was no denying it now; she'd have to be carried somehow. This wasn't going to be easy, but what in a rabbit's life ever was?

Arvens being a good deal larger than she, tried as carefully as possible to hold the rabbit in a standing position, as well as he could manage with his forepaws, while backing away. He had every intention of getting her on his back somehow, but it would be much harder if she couldn't move at all. Thank Frith this isn't the first time I've done this he thought vividly, focusing on the next step. He rubbed the doe's underbelly trying to press it up, his ears flattened as best as he could. This looked awkward to whoever may have been watching, but it was hard work. Arvens struggled to get his head under the doe, the dirt and small stones scratching at his throat. Back and forth, back and forth, he got it under at last and the doe was now firmly on his shoulders. This was the tricky part. He wouldn't get through the tree branches with her laying this way; she'd have to be in the same direction as he was so they wouldn't be too wide. If she was still alert, this would probably jolt her awake. One, two, three, he muttered, and heaved his shoulders up, giving the limp rabbit some air as he repositioned to have her body fall back on his. Oh Frith and Inle! he swore, as the doe nearly fell off his back. He laid flat on the ground to steady her and rose when he was confident she wouldn't roll off.

"You're safe now," he said confidently as they started towards the bushes, and the hidden warren.
