Dandelion woke up with a groan. He felt stiffness in his joints, which was unsurprising considering the position he had slept in. He yawned heavily and dropped to all fours, stretching his body to get rid of uncomfortable feeling. Afterwards he looked around, noticing that everybody else in dig crew had taken a break. Was it a time for silflay?

His stomach rumbled a bit, confirming that this was indeed time to eat something and so Dandelion moved down the run and towards the surface. He was unaware that the fur on the part of his body which had leant against the wall was covered in dirt…

Once outside, he saw Frostberry feeding on grass. At first he wanted to join her and eat in her company, but then he remembered something. He had dozed off when he was supposed to be helping with the digging. Would Frostberry be angry with him for doing that? Now he didn’t know what to do. Should he go and apologize to her or avoid her for the time being? He just stood there, undecided.

---

“Not taking any chances, are you?” Scoria asked, slightly amused. She didn’t think those outsiders would be any threat in their current condition. Then again, there was no harm in taking some precautions and she didn’t mind if Arkose was present during her talk with Blackberry and her companion. The first order of business was to learn that buck’s name. It wouldn’t do address him with: “Hey, you! The rabbit of male persuasion!” That would be awkward.

She entered the prison burrow and lay down her present before buck and doe. She smiled at them friendlily.

“Hello again. I thought you two could use something to eat,” she said, waving her paw at food and herbs she had brought.

Despite the conflicted feelings that threatened to overcome her, Blackberry couldn't help smiling a little.

"Thank you, Scoria," she said, "We really appreciate it."

Campion looked up in evident surprise. This doe did seem different from the others, so he felt his cold manner evaporate a little. "Your the first to show us kindness here, or call us guests." He rose. He did remember pleasantries. "I should introduce myself. I'm called Campion." He couldn't stop his eyes drifting to the food. It must have been two days and nights since he last touched a morsel. Still, he stayed ridged.

Gray nods slowly, understanding now what was wrong with the warren, "I've only seen a shining wire twice, and they scare me, thankfully I have never myself seen anyone caught in one, must be terrifying. I'm feeling sorry for them really, those who understand what really is going on in that warren can hardly leave, they cannot protect themselves from Elil or even other rabbits, there was a "Silverweed" in there though, poisonous name but he seemed the most depressed of them all, despite the mad rhymes and poems, I do not know why, but he reminded me of you for some reason." he spoke, seeming genuinely sorry for those rabbits, but also somewhat relieved to have his attention on something else.

"Maybe a game of bobstone would help the mood a little?" he suddenly said, likely hoping it'distract a bit from all the depressing discussion.

(I don't think they ever went back to look for him, didn't they only ever encounterthem when they traveled TO whatership down in the first place?)

Frostberry looked up, noticing Dandelion. She smiled in amusement, then bounded over at her leisure to meet him. "Your forehead is filthy," she observed kindly, flicking an ear. She tried not to laugh. "Why don't you clean that up?"

Arkose nodded, watching the three carefully. He didn't know exactly what to do or how to feel - he wasn't used to the manner in which Blackberry acted, nor a rabbit of Campion's condition. He didn't know whether they'd attack Scoria, or if they might have tried to escape, so all he did was sit near the entrance, watching.

(I’m sorry I didn’t write this sooner, but I’ve been quite busy this past week.

And you’re right, Hrair thlay. In the book Hazel and others arrived in the Warren of Shining Wires only once, during their travel to Watership Down. However, IIRC this RP is set after the first episode of tv-series’ third season, so...)

---

“It is? I didn’t notice,” Dandelion said with embarrassed laugh, thinking that he must had looked like a frithing fool. He followed Frostberry’s advice, bringing his paws to the forehead and trying to get rid of all dirt. A long moment later he stopped and looked at the doe questioningly. “Is it clean now?” he asked.

---

“I remember him,” Fiver said. All their stay at the Warren of Shining Wires had been quite a frightful experience to him, but the worst (except for Bigwig’s near death of course) was listening to Silverweed’s poem. So many verses about acceptance of their inevitable fate, which actually meant death by being caught in the snare. Fiver couldn’t bear to hear the whole thing and yet the members of that warren listened to it willingly and even called it “an entertainment”. He shivered at the thought.

“I hope he is alright and so are others,” he spoke quietly, more to himself than to Gray. Nobody deserved to die like that, being slowly suffocated by shining wires.

He looked up at Inle-thlay, when the latter proposed to play a bobstone game. He was glad to have any distraction. “Yes. Let’s play a game. I happen to have here a few pebbles we can use,” he pulled out of the corner of his burrow four little rocks and pushed them towards Gray, “Do you want to start?”

---

Scoria kept smiling. Arkose could snicker at “funny way of referring to others” as much as he wanted, but a simple kindness could go a long way toward gaining these newcomers’ friendship and trust. She noticed Campion was eyeing the food, but was hesitant to touch it.

“You can eat it safely. It’s not a poison,” she assured him and Blackberry.

Gray nodded, shuffling four pebbles under his paws, "Okay, I have four pebbles and two places to hide them, under the paw I'm playing with or hidden behind the other one, how many do you think there are?" he said after pretending to hide one of the pebbles as not being used for this toss, he was relieved that the mood already seemed to brighten a little.

Frostberry smiled. "Yes, you got it." She then bounded a few feet and settled to silflay.

Arkose snorted at the thought. "Nothing more dishonorable or cowardice than poisoning the weak."

Fiver observed Gray’s movement intently. He thought that he had seen the other rabbit hiding away one of the pebbles, not using it in this round. That would mean there were only three stones under Gray’s paws, unless he had removed more than one pebble. Fiver looked into the red eyes of his opponent, trying to read anything from them, but with no success. He decided to take a risk.

“Bobstone guess is… three,” he said.

---

Dandelion smiled in return and then joined Frostberry in silflay. He hadn’t realized how much hungry he was. It must have been all that fighting and running and digging of the day before, that was increasing his appetite now. Thus he ate with gusto, only pausing from time to time to stand up, take a look around, listen a bit and then returning to his meal. He owed this little habit to BIgiwg’s training, who had always been stressing the importance of constant watchfulness.

After he had satisfied some of his hunger, he said to Frostberry: “I know you’ve been here only a day here, or less, but how do you like it be on Watershiop Down?”

---

“Arkose is right,” Scoria said seriously “Killing somebody in a fair fight is honorable, but using hidden means such as poison is looked down upon, to put it mildly. I would describe to you severe punishments we have here for this kind of rabbits, but since you’re about to eat…”

Blackberry saw no reason not to eat the food. Scoria didn't seem like a liar to her, and neither did Arkose, for that matter. Of course, as they were Darkhaveners, and not to be trusted, there was no telling. With a glance at Campion, she bent down and nibbled at the food. It tasted fine to her.

"Come on, Campion, eat," She said, hoping the two Darkhaven rabbits wouldn't notice the forced cheerfulness in her voice.

Moss, meanwhile, had stayed outside Watership Down for a while. He wasn't quite ready to go back inside, not after the hlessi whose family had been killed by Efrafans had shown up.

"Will we ever fit in around here?" he muttered. He knew they had only been there for a little less than a day, but it still seemed as if reminders of the tyrannical regime of Efrafa kept popping up at every turn.

Gray smiled and lifted his paw, "Four bobstone." he said as he revealed he hadn't moved any of them, "Seems those visions of your don't help much with bobstone Hrairoo." he said in a joking manner before pushing the four stones to Fiver, "Your turn now, oh and how's pipkin doing?" he asked curiously while waiting for Fiver's move.

Scoria observed Campion and Blackberry as they were eating. Even though the bluish-gray doe was trying to act cheerful, it was clear she was anxious. It was quite normal under those circumstances: she and her companion had entered an unfamiliar warren and not out of their free will at that. Every rabbit would be afraid to some degree, if they were in their place.

At first, Scoria intended to ask them about where they came from, but this kind of question would probably make them even more nervous and hesitant to talk with her. She decided to try another approach then:

“Tell me, Blackberry,” she said gently to doe, when the latter had eaten most of her portion of food, “How good is your memory? Do you think you would be able to memorize whole stories and then recite them without making any error?”

---

“Most of the time they don’t,” he said, joking along with Gray. When he got the stones, he hid two of them under his right paw. At the same time, he lifted his left paw slightly, as if he was hiding some pebbles beneath it too. Fiver hoped that Gray will fall for this trick, because otherwise the red-eyed buck would win this game.

“Pipkin is doing well. Actually, a few days ago he decided to create Junior Owsla and train Primrose’s children. It’s hard to tell who is more enthusiastic about this project: Pipkin or his trainees,” Fiver answered with a chuckle.

Blackberry considered the question. It was a strange one, but she thought she could do it.
"I don't think it would be very hard," she said after a pause. "Why do you ask, Scoria?"

Frostberry shrugged. "It's different," she told him. "But I like it better. I don't feel so anxious here."

Arkose snorted a bit, realizing exactly what Scoria was getting at.

Gray smirked, "Probably for the better, cheaters aren't very fun, and Pipkin has done that? Sounds great, primrose sounds like a pretty name, who's her mate?" he asked out of curiosity while watching him move about the stones, "Three." he said with a moment of hestitation, either he was uncertain or he guessed wrong on purpose, maybe both.
