And it shall be great.

12 is certainly a number.

For a frog.

Edit #1: Art is the thing that binds the soul of flying birds to the shakles that make the wisemen sing praises to the heavens that bestow greatness upon those who would accept what little control they hold over the changing of the tides that ensure the working minds of the machines that make the world spin around the orb of hydrogen that we call home.
Edit #2: Music is the art that vibrates through the air and makes all the things that feel like the makings of a human enter into the consciousness of the observer. Music itself holds no value, only the experience that it brings holds any relevance to the overarching wholeness of the individual's being and contributes to the general greatness of the existance that will later translate itself into music.
Edit #3: Nothingness is the thing that is the absence of things existing within the region being called nothingness in which there are no things for the nothingness to iterate itself as because it lacks a self (e.g. —).

Whether something is art or not is identified by its intention, not by what observers "think" of it.

actually nothing is objectively art or not

so it is just identified by the subject or by an arbitrary standard.

Kitch is not intended to be meaningful.

It imitates meaningfulness.

The quality of art is subjective.

Whether something is art is objective I would say.

[00:46] <Tens> Rubik
[00:46] <Tens> Should I go through my library and label everything
[00:46] <Tens> classical
[00:46] <Tens> jazz
[00:46] <Tens> prog
[00:46] <Tens> pop
[00:46] <Tens> lol
[00:47] <Rubik> lol
[00:48] <Rubik> I would lump most prog and pop together
[00:48] <Rubik> or else you'd need more genres
[00:48] <Tens> What genres?
[00:48] <Tens> Do you need?
[00:48] <Rubik> If you had prog I would definately seperate rap
[00:48] <Tens> That's just a binary way to devide modern music.
[00:49] <Tens> hmmm
[00:49] <Tens> Hip-Hop does kind of seem like a seperate thing.
[00:49] <Tens> And rap isn't a genre Rubik. >__>
[00:49] <Tens> That's like saying
[00:49] <Tens> This song is: rock, singing
[00:50] <Rubik> salsa
[00:50] <Tens> But
[00:51] <Tens> I think you could probably devide hip hop beats into progressive and pop
[00:51] <Tens> Most are probably pop
[00:51] <Rubik> i can do so many things that feel like bigger devides
[00:51] <Rubik> *divides
[00:51] <Rubik> Tens I think that is a bad division
[00:51] <Tens> What is a better division?
[00:51] <Tens> In almost every genre you have a pop and prog distiction kind of.
[00:52] <Tens> It is the most binary thing I can think of.
[00:52] <Tens> Where both sides seem to be very different and have a lot of content.
[00:53] <Rubik> Why do you need to divide them
[00:54] <Tens> Because structure is probably the biggest division you can make between music.
[00:54] <Tens> Though I'm not sure classical deserves its own genre then.
[00:54] <Tens> Jazz definitely does though.
[00:55] <Rubik> 90125's genres on Wikipedia "Progressive rock, pop rock"
[00:55] <Tens> jazz-prog-pop?
[00:55] <Tens> Meaning they make both Rubik
[00:55] <Tens> That is an album
[00:55] <Tens> Right?
[00:55] <Rubik> Yes
[00:55] <Tens> Not a song?
[00:55] <Tens> so
[00:56] <Rubik> I would argue that they produced progressive pop
[00:56] <Tens> =/
[00:56] <Tens> That just seems like a contradictory thing.
[00:57] <Tens> Maybe non-prog is a better word than pop
[00:57] <Tens> Since pop means a lot of different things really.
[00:59] <Rubik> I think it is all just
[00:59] <Rubik> music
[00:59] <Rubik> man
[00:59] <Rubik> jazz / classical / other
[00:59] <Rubik> is the best division
[00:59] <Tens> Why
[00:59] <Tens> After thinking about it
[01:00] <Rubik> where do you put gregorian chant btw
[01:00] <Rubik> :/
[01:00] <Tens> Classical feels like a bad genre seperation.
[01:00] <Rubik> probably
[01:00] <Rubik> but so does jazz
[01:00] <Rubik> if you think like that
[01:00] <Rubik> rock and jazz can merge
[01:01] <Rubik> I think classical / jazz / other works well
[01:01] <Rubik> otherwise there are so many subgenres
[01:01] <Rubik> a list of instruments used might be handy
[01:04] <Tens> How about: non-progressive-music-forms, progressive-music-forms, freeform?
[01:04] <Rubik> no
[01:04] <Rubik> boo
[01:04] <Rubik> bad bad bad
[01:05] <Tens> Why?
[01:05] <Rubik> i wouldn't even
[01:05] <Rubik> know
[01:05] <Tens> lol
[01:05] <Rubik> what was encompassed
[01:05] <Rubik> anymore
[01:05] <Tens> Well what is better?
[01:05] <Rubik> jazz is clear man
[01:05] <Rubik> classical is clear
[01:05] <Tens> Why though?
[01:05] <Rubik> they are
[01:05] <Rubik> everything else meshes too much
[01:05] <Rubik> and if it is unclear than it is other
[01:06] <Tens> The problem is jazz and classical go all over the place.
[01:06] <Rubik> yes
[01:06] <Tens> They aren't really something you can easily define.
[01:06] <Rubik> but you can generally tell
[01:06] <Rubik> classical has a lot of sub-bits
[01:06] <Tens> You can't really explain jazz to someone in a sentence.
[01:06] <Rubik> brahms and liszt are COMPLETELY different man
[01:06] <Rubik> but they both are classical
[01:07] <Rubik> you can tell what is classical generally
[01:07] <Rubik> they had a lot of rules
[01:07] <IngBot> either they had an inaccuate rank or all other of that skill play very differently
[01:07] <Tens> The problem
[01:08] <Rubik> I am liking this Catch 22 band
[01:08] <Tens> Is any non-structurural seperation feels like it needs away too many sections.
[01:08] <Tens> And seperating my instrumentation seems incredibly stupid after the invention of the computer.
[01:09] <Rubik> Improvised / Structured / Semi-structured could work
[01:09] <Rubik> to some degree
[01:09] <Rubik> but classical and jazz are still more useful
[01:10] <Rubik> I don't want early pink floyd and charlie parker in the same category when I am trying to tell feels apart
[01:10] <Rubik> I mean it is fine in some ways
[01:10] <Rubik> but in others it is not handy at all
[01:11] <Rubik> Syd Barrett != Charlie Parker
[01:11] <Tens> The problem I get when I make jazz a genre is that hot jazz / dixieland doesn't even feel like jazz.
[01:11] <Rubik> ah
[01:12] <Rubik> it's still a kind of jazz, though
[01:12] <Tens> Like where do you put something like that.
[01:12] <Rubik> just like
[01:12] <Rubik> ...not as pure to the form?
[01:12] <Rubik> I mean, there are classical artists who ignored laws
[01:13] <Rubik> COUGH COUGH LISZT
[01:13] <Rubik> They are still classical
[01:13] <Tens> But what makes modern music different than jazz and classical?
[01:13] <Rubik> back then they were modern and groundbreaking
[01:13] <Rubik> honestly it is largely instruments
[01:14] <Tens> But you could have 3 different tunes that all only used a piano
[01:14] <Tens> And one could be considered classical
[01:14] <Rubik> True
[01:14] <Tens> one could be considered jazz
[01:14] <Tens> one could be considered neither?
[01:14] <Tens> Seems wrong
[01:14] <Rubik> Jazz has chords
[01:14] <Rubik> that make it jazz
[01:14] <Rubik> man
[01:15] <Tens> lol
[01:15] <Rubik> it's a feel
[01:15] <Rubik> you can't
[01:15] <Rubik> define
[01:15] <Rubik> music
[01:15] <Rubik> mannnnn
[01:15] <Rubik> you can't /describe/ things
[01:15] <Rubik> you just have to /feel/ them
[01:15] <Rubik> mannn
[01:15] <Tens> I listen to field recordings of sounds that would generally be considered non-artistic.
[01:15] <Tens> Don't ask me to define music.
[01:15] <Rubik> ska punk is the Pony
[01:16] <Rubik> you are a hipster
[01:16] <Tens> ;-;
[01:16] <Rubik> you don't count ;D
[01:16] <Tens> I feel like people who use the word hipster
[01:16] <Tens> Are projecting.
[01:16] <Rubik> lol
[01:16] <Rubik> ur cute
[01:16] <Rubik> :3
[01:17] <Tens> People generally call people hipsters if they think they are listening to music not to enjoy it but because they want to be considered cool or edgy or something.
[01:17] <Tens> Maybe they are insecure about their own music.
[01:17] <Tens> Maybe they don't listen to music to enjoy it.
[01:17] <Tens> You know what I mean man.
