Oh you youngsters with your 21st Century physics engines and your multiple polygons and your HD graphics and your long draw distances...

Urban Assault.
I rarely play shiny FPSs, I prefer Urban Terror and CS:S over most modern FPSs.
I'll play the odd modern game as it comes out, but I tend to have more fun with older/buggier/obscure titles. Particularly if people have created mods or editing tools to mess around with.

Though Urban Assault could've been less obscure if it hadn't come out just a few months after the original Starcraft, being an RTS/FPS hybrid.

Has anyone played Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne? I've been playing that recently, and I just love it :3

Speaking of older games, I've been replaying Oblivion recently. I forgot how great the stories were. The last handful of capers in the Thieves' Guild questline always has been and always shall be one of my favorite adventures from any game. Along with the Dark Brotherhood questline, just... as one whole unit.

...I also forgot how buggy it was.

I loved the dark brotherhood quest in that game. One of the most interesting and entertaining series of quests in any game in my opinion :3

My friend picked up Oblivion again.

I've been getting texts late at night asking how to play...

I'm not sure if he's pathetic for not remembering, or I'm pathetic for remembering...

NOR DO I.

Though coming back here to Third Era Cyrodiil and reading all about the history of mysticism and how deeply connected it is to the nature of Nirn and Aetherius just reminds me how... blunt its Ret-Gone was in Skyrim.

The magical school of mysticism.

I never liked it. I wish they got rid of it sooner.

But there is a canon explanation. The schools are an arbitrary sorting of different types of spells, and it's stated that all magic is connected regardless of which school. Really the schools are just used to help apprentice mages understand the fundamentals of magic. They could get rid of all the schools and, by flavor standards, it would be completely fine; they just use the schools in the leveling mechanic.
