Frankly I wasn't too impressed... The whole episode felt terribly cliché. Although it did show us somethiing, Spike's 'magic fire' (for lack of a better term) can transport things to places other than Celestia. Unless of course Celestia holds his "Dragon's Code" card for him... Which would be strange. Lawso |

It would be strange but I don't think she'd mind. Anyway next episode is sure to be a better one. |

Her necklace thingy is filled with most of his personal belongings. That's my new headcanon and I'm sticking to it. |

It was a nice episode to watch after work, but nothing really caught my attention. It was good to see more Applejack. Some might wonder why she wasn't that straightforward and honest about Spike's 'help', but for me this just demonstrated that Applejack can be honest and subtle at the same time. Being straightforward and honest doesn't necessarily mean you have to be blunt, and I got the impression she really struggled with her rejection of Spike's help hurting his feelings. After all, this Dragon Code means the world to him. Or, perhaps Applejack very well understood that it would be useless to reject Spike's help precisely because of this Dragon Code. |

Personally i think it would be stupid for the characters to be perfect examples of their elements, so I'm glad they don't always live up to them. Pinkie Pie in a raging fit instead of laughing "YOU PINKIE PROMISED!"...or depressed and kind of losing it due to thinking her friends don't like her any more. The fact that an asocial bookworm like Twighlight Sparkle inherited the element of Friendship in the first place. Applejack's occasional attempts at misleading or otherwise avoid telling the truth. Rainbow Dash's brief moments of forgetting her friends while drunk with pride Fluttershy actually being aggressive and cruel in attempt at assertive while not discorded. I can't think of any examples of Rarity showing selfishness while not discorded, but just because I can't think of any doesn't mean they aren't there, and even if there aren't any examples (yet) that doesn't mean there can't be, and the point's been made anyway. I think the elements should represent their strongest trait rather than a perfectly held trait, and possibly something that influences the other ponies to uphold that same trait (thus emphasizing the importance of sticking tuhgedder (sorry since the topic initially revolved around Applejack, I couldn't resist). |

Care to comment on:
Is is headcanon correct? Do you carry Spike's most personal belongings with you in your necklace? Lawso |

'cause like, a children's show with comedy elements should never be silly! the blasphemy! To me, it's a normal typical episode. And I think the lesson of not counting favors between friends as if business partners is wonderful. A little failure to be honest, even with the element of honesty, just shows ....well not "being human", but "realistic imperfection" I guess. It'd be nice if they referenced that failure in a later episode though. I don't think the show is really going downhill if they show more episodes like it. Edited by Pidgeons, Jan 18 2013, 04:51 AM.
