Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, Lost during the War
What does it mean to be Aes Sedai? That was one of her first lessons as an Aes Sedai. Of course, she had touched most of the aspects of Aes Sedai life in novice or Accepted classes, but being Aes Sedai meant so much that all of it could never be told to someone outside of the rank. Some things would not be told until you have worn the shawl for ten, twenty, fifty years. Some things would only be told to Sitters or Heads. She was a full Aes Sedai now, but among the Aes Sedai she felt like a child. No, not a child. She was their baby sister now. Young, maybe, uneducated, but she was one of them. She was an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah.

Farina had known that becoming Aes Sedai did not mean that she could just run off to do her own things. Becoming Aes Sedai meant more and more studies, more lessons, more intricate details. But some things had come as a shock. Like the code of deference to sisters above her strength in the One Power. Farina was far from strong, even after more than fourty years of training, so it meant that she had to defer to almost everyone. She did not mind it now, she felt like she was still in training, but she would never be very strong, so she would have to defer to some Aes Sedai who did not know her all her life!

It wasn't very comforting. But at least Aes Sedai were not to disturb or get theirselves involved in another Aes Sedai's business. Farina was willing to accept that Mother, the Sitters and of course the Captain General would have control over her doings, but she did not want other Aes Sedai butting into things that had nothing to do with them.

The Captain General had been a pleasant surprise. Her previous Mistress of Novices, the woman that had watched her grow, Cayana Alhi. She was quite relieved that the Head of her Ajah was a woman who liked her, who had believed in her. She did not expect to be favoured, but it was good to know that the woman in charge of her was not one of those who thought more drastically of her little escapade oh so many years ago. She felt somewhat safe with Cayana in charge.

Farina shook her head and pulled the shawl a little tighter around her shoulders. That brought a small smile to the face of a passing Yellow. Farina didn't mind, but rubbed her Great Serpent ring absently with her finger. She had been an Aes Sedai for four months now, but she was still the newest Green sister and would not let go of the shawl quite yet.

Those four months had been full of information, but also... very, very, extremely pleasant. Farina had visited the City a few dozen times, getting to know the surroundings, especially the inns and bars. She had met a pleasant young man who shared her view on relationships and would by all definitions be now called her lover. She had bought an array of beautiful silk dresses in every hue of green possible, some with elaborate embroidery and clinging necklines, some with slashed skirts and a more modest bodice, some with slashes of gold, silver or yellow and a couple made of linen or wool. She had even bought herself a pair of breeches, just in case. Some Greens had recommended them, and some Gaidar seemed to wear them frequently, but Farina had not yet used them. She did not want to learn fight moves that she would not be able to duplicate in a dress. She had decorated her rooms a bit; she had been quite happy with how it was to being with. She had bought a couple of basic swords, few daggers and a pike to begin with. Her skills had been very rusty, but she had already improved remarkably, training with other Green Aes Sedai and their Warders.

As of Warders... She ached to have one, but she did not want to rush things. She knew the weave, but there was plenty of time to get to know a man or woman that she would be comfortable sharing her life with. Her sisters had been unanimous on that; you had to be sure before you bonded. If the choice was a poor one and you found out that you couldn't stand your Warder, there was little you could do. And you also had to make sure that all of your Warders got along with each other. Every Gaidin and Gaidar had to be told exactly what was expected of them before the final decision was made, otherwise things could get messy, especially if you were romantically involved with one or some of them.

Farina had given their advice a lot of thought and was sure that they were right. She should not rush and would have to get used to the idea that it could take months, years before she even found a suitable candidate. In the meanwhile, she would train and study. And have fun on the side.

Farina smiled, tugged her shawl again, and walked to the Green Halls.
