(OOC: I know I know, RPing with myself, but this is important for both of them. )Jetsuade stopped and curtsied to an Aes Sedai, her face calm and respectful. Once she had passed, Jetsuade turned to look at her back with an angry look on her face. She quickly smoothed her features, looking around to check if someone had noticed. No one else was on the corridor. Jetsuade let out a small sigh of relief and continued on her way. A couple of months ago she had had an eye-opening conversation with an Accepted. Before that conversation, Jetsuade had admired Aes Sedai, believing that they were out in the world to make it a better place, to help people. An Aes Sedai had saved her mother's life. But Adena had claimed that Aes Sedai did not help people out of pure-heartedness. She had said that Aes Sedai did not do anything without hoping to gain something out of it. She had went as far as to say that Aes Sedai used people, and did not care for those who got hurt while they worked for their goal. Jetsuade had not first believed her, but now she knew that the Accepted's words were true. She had asked people, enquired, not directly, but she was now convinced that Aes Sedai were exactly what Adena had said they were. Devious, uncaring, manipulating. Jetsuade could not stand the thought. She utterly hated the Aes Sedai. She hated the way they hid everything, how they seemed to be so pure. She hated the way they had let her think that they were pure-hearted. She could not live in a world of deception where good deeds were always tainted with a purpose to gain. But she would become Aes Sedai. She was still as determined as she had been when she had talked to Adena; she would become a pure Aes Sedai, helping people because they needed help and not asking anything in return. She would show them all. Jetsuade shook her head as she entered the mess hall. The tables were empty save for a few groups of novices and soldiers. Jetsuade went to the counter and grabbed a tray. A few rolls, a cup of tea and a plateful of hot, thick soup and that was enough. She sat down on one of the free tables and broke a roll, dipping it into the soup. |

Soup. Again. Juhon shrugged and grabbed a plateful, smiling quickly at the fat woman behind the counter giving him a dirty look. That sour face soon blossomed into a bashful smile when Juhon winked at her. He turned away with his tray, laughing softly by himself. His charm did not always have that effect here in the Towers, though. Aes Sedai in particular were totally impervious to his smiles. So were most of the women who were in charge of overseeing chores, which was very unfortunate. Novices and most Accepted seemed to accept his flirtations quite freely, although only a few were ready to go any further. Female recruits had been the easiest targets thus far. He was sure that the servants would be even more welcoming, but most of them were either married or quite mature for his taste. Juhon looked around, avoiding the empty tables. He did not wish to eat alone. He saw no familiar faces though, but his eyes focused on a lone novice. Quite pretty with long black hair in small braids. Juhon smiled his most dashing smile as he walked to her table. "Would you care for some company?" |

Jetsuade looked up as someone approached. Her hand, holding the soaked piece of bread, froze as her eyes reached the man, clad in Soldier black. The smile... Jetsuade could not but stare. Brown hair cut at the shoulders, clean and slightly wavy and very shiny, soft features, closely shaven chin and beautiful, deep brown eyes. And the smile... It made Jetsuade feel as if she was the only woman he had eyes for. As if she was the only one he cared to talk to. As if... "Would you care for some company?" he asked with a divine, inviting voice. Jetsuade nodded eagerly. She watched him closely as he sat down. She finally realized that she was ogling him, probably seeming like a fool. She quickly dropped her eyes and flushed. Her hand finally moved the piece of bread into her mouth and she chewed quickly, staring at the soup. Gradually the heat on her cheeks seemed to subside. When her heart had finally stopped beating so hard, she looked at him again. "I'm Jetsuade Kaeth," she said and smiled, eagerly waiting to hear his voice again, to hear his name. She even bat her eyelashes a few times. |

The novice froze and just stared at him. Juhon smile widened slightly at that. She's sold. The novices were rarily this easy. She nodded very quickly and Juhon put the tray down and sat opposite to her. She still kept staring. It was very... flattering. He had not gotten a reaction like that in the Towers yet. It did alarm him, just a little bit. Juhon had not interest in a relationship or marriage, and the girls back home who had reacted like that had always been those who were the most eager to try and bind him. He wanted to flirt, to have a bit of fun... and then move on. If he wasn't careful, this novice could ruin everything. He would not have anything to do with her if she was one of those... maidens. But she was good-looking, she had curves in the right places... Juhon did not want to ruin his chances with her if she was willing to have just a bit of fun after all. The novice looked away finally and continued eating with red cheeks. Juhon sipped his tea and ate a spoonful, waiting for the girl to recover. Another spoonful and the novice looked at him again. "I'm Jetsuade Kaeth," she said and bat her eyelashes. Juhon wondered if the girl could even tolerate the full blow of his charm. He decided to find out. He smiled in a way that made his eyes sparkle, as if he had never heard a more beautiful name. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Jetsuade Kaeth. I am Juhon Baior, your humble servant." And now to find out if she was a maiden or not. "Why is a pretty young woman like yourself sitting all alone? You must have a swarm of admirers." |

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Jetsuade Kaeth." The force of his smile made her heart pound again. How can anything be so... beautiful? "I am Juhon Baior, your humble servant." Juhon... It was the best name she had ever heard. Strong and brave, yet soft. Just like him. She looked at his eyes, his nose, his hair... She had to stop from reaching over and running a hand through his hair. She quickly grabbed her spoon to distract her hands and ate a spoonful of soup. It was too hot, but she didn't even notice. "Why is a pretty young woman like yourself sitting all alone? You must have a swarm of admirers." He called me pretty... Jetsuade blushed violently. He likes me! "Oh, no..." she said vaguely, trying to gather her thoughts. She smiled bashfully and shook her head a little to make her braids sway. She was not very good at flirting, she hadn't practiced much, but she would try her very best. She would not let this man lose his interest in her. "Even if I did have a bunch of admirers, from this moment on, they would not matter to me at all," she said in a voice that she hoped was husky and inviting. "How long have you been in the Black Tower?" she asked quickly, yearning to learn more about him. |

"Oh, no..." Jetsuade answered, her cheeks bright red. Juhon was pleased. He was making quite an impact on her. She seemed bashful, perhaps too innocent. Juhon did not like that idea. But then the girl moved her head to sway her braids, a classic move to try and grab a man's attention. "Even if I did have a bunch of admirers, from this moment on, they would not matter to me at all," she added in a husky voice. Juhon smiled, just a bit pleased. She could not be too virtuous, otherwise she would not flirt so blatantly. Maybe he had hope after all. "How long have you been in the Black Tower?" Juhon was glad of the question. A bit of small talk was the best way to figure out which way the novice leaned in the end. "About half a year," he answered and sipped his tea. "I really like it here. The chores are not too pleasant, but the classes are interesting. I can't wait to be Asha'man." He didn't really think about what he said, he just echoed the things he had most commonly heard while talking with new novices or Soldiers to make her feel more comfortable. He took a spoonful of soup again and took his time to swallow. "How about you? Are you close to being raised?" She looked young, so most probably she was still new to the White Tower, but a compliment was always in order. |

"About half a year," he answered. Jetsuade listened to his voice, repeating every word in her mind, making sure that she remembered each and every syllable. "I really like it here. The chores are not too pleasant, but the classes are interesting. I can't wait to be Asha'man." Jetsuade nodded in absolute agreement. I can't wait to be Aes Sedai either. She pictured Juhon a few years older, his black collar decorated with the Sword and Dragon pins... His face proud and strong, his stance straight and his eyes catching hers... "How about you? Are you close to being raised?" Jetsuade blushed again. Did she really seem that mature and trained? "I've been here close to a year now," she answered truthfully. They were both very new to the Towers, so their age difference could not be large either. He said that he liked the Black Tower, just like Jetsuade loved the White and wanted to be Aes Sedai. "I've also had very interesting classes and can't wait to be raised. I've progressed well in saidar training, so it hopefully won't take me too long." She realized that she was bragging, but she smiled and shyly looked away to seem more humble. She ate quietly for a small while before continuing. "Where are you from?" |

The girl blushed again at his compliment. "I've been here close to a year now," she answered. Juhon dipped the roll into the soup and munched on it. Not as new as I thought. Juhon had not seen Jetsuade before, but she was more experienced than he was. Well, half a year did not make too much of a difference, he figured. Unless she was a particularly quick learner. "I've also had very interesting classes and can't wait to be raised." Juhon nodded while taking some more soup, hardly listening. "I've progressed well in saidar training, so it hopefully won't take me too long." Juhon was a bit surprised by her courage to brag, but she smiled quickly and looked away, as if she was ashamad of saying it. Juhon was not very far with his saidin training yet. He could grab it now, but it would take a while until he could properly control it. "Where are you from?" the girl continued. "I'm from Kandor," he said with his same small-talk voice, not really paying attention to his words. "From Chachin, to be exact. My parents were merchants, so we travelled a lot. Not far from Kandor, though. This is the first time I'm out of the Borderlands. And you? You must be Taraboner, judging by your talented braids." |

( )"I'm from Kandor." Jetsuade immediately decided that the next time she had free time, she would go to the Library and read every book about Kandor she could find. "From Chachin, to be exact." Her eyes gleamed as she listened. He is so interesting! "My parents were merchants, so we travelled a lot. Not far from Kandor, though. This is the first time I'm out of the Borderlands." Travelling merchants... It was fascinating. "And you? You must be Taraboner, judging by your talented braids." Jetsuade blushed yet again, eternally glad that he was familiar with the Taraboner custom of braids. "Yes, I am Taraboner. I used to wear the veil, but they won't let me have it here in the White Tower," she said quickly. If he knew about the braids, he surely knew about the veils too. Even after a year, she felt naked without it. The thought made her blush. "Actually, I've lived most of my life in Tar Valon." She did not usually reveal that fact unless it was speficially brought up, but she wanted Juhon to know everything about her. "My father is a clerk in the Black Tower, and my mother weaves and sells rugs. My siblings..." she still had to pause and swallow her grief. She missed them so much! "My siblings live in Tar Valon, but I haven't seen them since I came here. I miss them all." She took a swig of tea to gather her thoughts and looked up with a perky smile. "But let's not talk about them." |

The girl blushed, yet again. Juhon just smiled. "Yes, I am Taraboner. I used to wear the veil, but they won't let me have it here in the White Tower," Jetsuade continued. Juhon remembered about the veils. It probably was not the only national custom the Towers didn't tolerate. If his Father came to the Black Tower, they would most probably make him get rid of his big ruby earrings, for example. "Actually, I've lived most of my life in Tar Valon." Now that was an interesting piece of information. "My father is a clerk in the Black Tower, and my mother weaves and sells rugs. My siblings..." Jetsuade paused for a while. "My siblings live in Tar Valon, but I haven't seen them since I came here. I miss them all." Juhon adjusted his face to look sympathetic, but actually he was a bit worried. Another reason why he should not get involved with this girl; her father was in the Black Tower. If he found out... "But let's not talk about them," Jetsuade said with a happy smile. Juhon smiled as happily back. One more question and he would know for sure. "You did not leave a young man behind to wait for you? Do not say that you did not have a fiancee, I won't believe you," he said playfully. |

Juhon did not seem to mind Jetsuade's small moment of misery but returned her smile as brightly as before. "You did not leave a young man behind to wait for you? Do not say that you did not have a fiancee, I won't believe you." Jetsuade looked at her soup bashfully, glancing at him shyly as she ate a spoonful. She had to think before answering. Juhon obviously thought that she was attractive, but her answer could ruin everything. She did not want to reveal that she had not actually been with anyone properly yet. She did not want to seem too inexperienced. Neither did she want to lie and seem like a... loose woman. She wanted him to know that she really liked him, that she thought that he could be the one... But she did not want to scare him off. What a difficult situation. "Well..." she answered slowly. "No, I did not have a fiancee. I do want a family, but I did not find anyone I could imagine spending the rest of my life with. And now I have to wait until I am Aes Sedai before I can even dream of a family again." Too much, too much! She knew she shouldn't have said that, but she wanted him to know just everything about her. "I will wait, though. I am very patient," she said, looking him in the eye. She smiled. "You, though... I can't wait to get to know you better. You are a very interesting man." She could not believe that she had said it so straight out loud, but now it was too late! |

Jetsuade did not say anything at first but ate for a while. Juhon followed her example but eagerly waited for her answer. "Well..." she answered slowly. "No, I did not have a fiancee. I do want a family, but I did not find anyone I could imagine spending the rest of my life with. And now I have to wait until I am Aes Sedai before I can even dream of a family again." Juhon suddenly started eating his soup very quickly. Maiden alert! She was clearly looking for the one, not the flirt and fun. She was looking for a husband to father her children! Juhon would have nothing to do with her. "I will wait, though. I am very patient." The look in her eyes... Chills ran through his back. "You, though... I can't wait to get to know you better. You are a very interesting man." Oh no. Light save me! Jetsuade was clearly starting to think that Juhon could be her one true love she would marry for life. Juhon hoped that he would be able to avoid her for the rest of his life in the Black Tower. She had just said that she would wait! For the family, or for the man? For him? No! Juhon quickly finished the soup and grabbed the final roll that was left on his tray. "Oh, time does just fly by when you're having fun, doesn't it," he said lamely. "I have to run. I'll see you later," he finished, utterly hoping that he would not, and left the mess halls in a hurry. |

Juhon seemed very busy. He ate his soup in big gulps. Jetsuade hoped it was because he just remembered that he had some class starting, not because of her words. "Oh, time does just fly by when you're having fun, doesn't it," he said and Jetsuade smiled brightly. "I have to run. I'll see you later," he said and hurried out. Jetsuade stared at his back until he disappeared. Jetsuade finished her soup slowly, a small smile playing on her lips. He won't get away. I will wait. |
