Name: Androus Mordin Age: 34 Nationality: Amadician Height: 6’3”/ 190.5 centimeters Weight: 195 lbs/ 88.5 kg Hair color/length: Chestnut brown; shoulder length, usually worn in braids Eye color: Green Physical Appearance: Androus has a wide shoulder set; his back muscled from years of working the Staff and martial arts. His stomach is toned with nice definition and his calves are nicely turned on his build. Androus has the look of a very aware man, and his eyes are marked by a deep sparkle of intelligence. Personality: Androus is a quiet man, he enjoys contemporary piano and the sounds of a bard’s harp. When in the company of other men he is usually reserved, but has been known to crack jokes that have everyone wondering why he doesn’t speak more often. Androus has enjoyed the company of women since his sixteenth naming day, but since coming to the Tower he has bedded no one. The female comrades among the guard find the reserved sophisticated man endearing and no few had lost their hearts to him. Androus is a responsible, likable gentleman, raised to be honor bound from a young child he is nothing, if not a man of the Light. Gaidin Path: + Quarter Staff +Hand to Hand combat -Androus has a talent for the piano, being able to play any song he hears. -Raised in Amadicia, and a former Child, Androus is adept in working social currents. History: Amadicia, years after the shadows invasion, is much grander than in time before. The only big change was, the Children now openly ran their organization as a government. Not only was the Lord Captain Commander head of the Children, he was also head of state. Under the new Children, Amadicia prospered, even flourished. Trade came in and went out, taxes gathered, public buildings for governmental proceedings held every sixth day. Soon people who had lost everything found there place in the Children’s home. The stability and promise of a better tomorrow was exactly what they needed to get their lives back on track. Androus Mordin was a member of such an immigrant family. The story he had been told as a child was that his great great great ancestors had run from Illian, something going awry with the King there, details were sketchy after so much time, and found a new home in Amadicia. His family had been very rich and well off in Illian, but in Amadicia they had been forced to start over, with nothing but there name to hold on to. His distant grandfather had joined the Children to gather coin, while his wife took up sewing. Their children lived in the seam shop their mother worked at and the coin their father sent was enough to afford them clothes and schooling. Generations later Androus’ father was a Captain among the Children, himself a trainee. And his mother? Well, she was at home in the seam shop they now had owned almost two generations. While they were not a rich or powerful family, they wanted for very little. As a boy Androus was forced into school, his family just achieving the wealth to afford him not work for pay and be able to better himself in school. He learned to read, wright, and do mathematics. He was never really good with numbers, but literature and readying took like a duck to water. He could not get enough of books, which at first worried his ever proud father. At twelve years of life, Androus began his training with the Children. As a baby he was raised to serve the Light and the good in the world. The Children were this to him. He saw them for the good they represented, the honor they had the power to uphold. He never idealized the men in their uniforms, but the reason for there being entirely entranced him. So, when he was finally old enough to join, he did so with enthusiasm. His schooling continued by a tutor at home, but for five hours every day he was at the Children's training camp, practicing the sword and learning the histories and stories. Still, he was smarter than most of the other boys. Where most would soon become captivated by the thought of being a Child, he held on to his reason; to better serve the Light, to prove himself worthy of being here, to give him a purpose of existing. At sixteen Androus met the first love of his life. Nephuria had been beautiful, and her father was also a Child, so he knew her to be of good ilk. He met her at a ball in the capital of Amadicia and heart of the Children. They danced together, their father's both good military comrades, for the first time beneath the Dome of Truth, and Androus wore his sparkling white uniform, with a snowy cloak and golden symbol adorning his torso. That night, many drink and dances later, he and Nephuria had sex. He was lost at what to do, but her slim small hands guided him tenderly, teaching as they went. Her hair was brown, deep and rich, and her eyes warm with drink. He would always remember the way she looked, after they had finished. She had cried, and he had held her. So, that was what it meant to be a man? He saw her only once after that, the woman he had given himself to. It was some months later, she was found in her home, sleeping with a boy whom he heard appeared much as himself physically. Her father found them, and killed the servant on sight, earning him a hanging in court, but justice was long in coming for this man. He had beaten Nephuria so badly, not only did he kill the child inside of her, Androus' child, it ended her life as well. Androus was quiet for a long time after that. He kept the letters of the secret love he once had, the secret family that would have been; had things been in another world. After her death, he found the company of perhaps three others, all of them he left after one night. He could not look at them in the morning, it just seemed wrong to him; he would never diagnose himself to the point of realizing the exact reason for this theory, but it was the ruling law in his romantic life. Androus was nearly eighteen when he first spoke again, and it was to his Commander, upon his raising to Child of the Light. He enjoyed his new rank for a short time, but time enough to see battle, to know war, and death. Disillusioned by the idea of an honorable war, and seeing it for what it was highly effected his later life decision. Androus was nearly to his eighteenth naming day when the Children began expanding their borders, trying to get a foothold among surrounding nations. He was aware this was in no way meant for the service of the Light, this was to put a power hungry man in control of more people, no matter how they colored it. He fought his moral conflict for a time, his service had always been to the Light, and the Children were just his means to an end. But now, they were trying to make him serve something else, a man. Androus was at a loss, and so consulted his mother late in the night, while his father was on scouting missions. She told him that all she could ask of his life was that he be able to make peace within himself when the time came for him to pass. Do what is you know is right, and you will never be wrong. Androus left home that very night, with two horses and enough gold to see him to the sea. Some two weeks later, on a horse he had stopped to buy, after the first he had stolen passed away from exhaustion and the two he had started with had been stolen by a band of brigands, Androus entered the city of Tar Valon. His first thought had been the Black Tower, and when he found out he could not channel, the look of defeat had been so great the Asha’man had told him of the White Tower, and the Gaidin they trained there. At twenty years of life, Androus joined the Tower as a member of the Gaidin, he was a raw and new recruit, with formal training in the sword from the Children. Well versed in grammar and writing he found more knowledge in the Tower than he had ever fathomed. He also discovered his love for the piano in his first year among the Tar Valon citizenry. Two years as a recruit saw him raised to something a little more trusted than a fresh recruit, and by this time Androus had paid for his own, all be it a very small, piano. Late in the night after practice and all were asleep, he would sit in his room and play, matching the sound of the keys to the sounds that played in his head. For the next four years Androus worked on honing his martial arts in hand to hand combat with other students and his teachers when he began to excel in this area. He was quick, and his pianist fingers were strong, and nimble, making his hands a perfect weapon. The only thing Androus enjoyed more than martial arts was the quarter staff; and with it, he felt safe. Longer than a sword, yet agile enough to turn a dagger, it seemed perfectly fitted to his feline like fighting style. He spent most of his days training with this, his art with the sword good enough, but far outweighed was his gift of the staff. At twenty-seven Androus was made Youngling, where he remains faithfully serving the Tower, and through it, the Light, waiting for a time to come when he can prove himself worthy of the honor he has always attempted to uphold. He is now nearly thirty-five and just recently he has noticed a Sister who seems to be there every time he turns around. Edited by Androus Mordin, Feb 12 2009, 07:53 PM.

The only thing is that here, Youngling isn't really the tier before Gaidin. Yes, one has to be Youngling before becoming Gaidin in most cases, but the Gaidin level isn't related to training. Youngling is SM OOC, and In Character, Younglings are considered to have satisfactorily completed their training. The only thing that makes one Gaidin or Gaidar is a bond.

First of all, you should have waited for express approval by one of the Admins before starting roleplaying. I also would have appreciated a bit more detail about his life. However, it does cover his family history and all the major events of his life, so I find it approved. Sorry it took so long.

No worries, it's all good now. Just remember that we will need you to write out Androus' raising, even though it's set in the past. I believe you have access to the raising forum, everyone should now. |
