Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah

Name: Salima Tyhar
Age: 244
Nationality: Cairheinin
Rank: Noble of House Damondred, Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah

Appearance
Height: 5 ft 10 in, or around 1.75 m
Weight: 60 kg
Hair color/length: Gold-White/Waist length, with white streaks
Eye color: Blue

Salima Tyhar is above the average height for a Carhienin, which means that she is about the same height as everybody else, and shorter than a good few people in the world. This means that she has developed the innated ability to look larger than she really is by sheer force of her presence, if she has to. With her height however, she can also vanish subtlely into the background, hiding amongst the people there and camoflauged by her surroundings. She is a master at announcing herself with her presence and disappearing when they least expect it. This gives her the advantage of being able to pry into conversations and become privvy to secrets that are floating around in the Towers.

With hair golden as the sun typical of a Cairheinin, Salima is stunningly beautiful noticeable in the crowd. It falls to her waist, and is light and floaty in the winds that stir the atmosphere and toss her hair around as though it weighs nothing. There are streaks of white at her temples that make it even more striking in the light of the sun. Salima usually lets it loose, loathing to tie it into a bndle or a ponytail. Her eyes, so strikingly blue change colours like the sea. When the sea is excited, it is green. When it is tranquil and calm, it is blue, and when it is tossing in fury it is grey, and when it is coldly disapproving it is ice. These variations in colour give away her emotions to those who know her for long.

The winds of time wrinkles the skin like parchment. However, Salima, gifted with the ability to touch it, has the grace of the One Power to slow down this deformity of the skin. Her flesh is smooth and unwrinkled despite her long years and the hardships she has suffered. Salima, in Aes Sedai fashion, does not use weapons except for the One Power, and thus her skin does not suffer scars in weapons training or in fighting, because the One Power can also be used as a long range weapon, and anyway, any scratch or cut can be healed without a scar if treated immediately.

Personality
Salima Tyhar is motherly and kind, a replacement mother for those novices that are orphaned or who miss their parents. She loves them like a mother and would protect them with her last breath. She was the natural choice as the Mistress of Novices for the Novices of the Towers. She comforts them and she treats them well. She can analyze personality on the spot, and will know how best to cajoule them to doing as she says, and to follow her instructions and the rules of the Tower. She sighs at the pranks that Novices and Accepted play with each other with something akin to exasperated amusement, knowing that they only do this for fun.

However, when the pranks turn into something of a malicious nature, Salima is unrecognizable. She becomes stern and hard, without a trace of mercy in her. But Salima also has a strict side to her, though it is usually hidden by her exterior motherly nature. She tolerates pranks of the harmless nature, other than a stern lecture, and maybe a soft paddling, that is it. However, for those people who play malicious tricks on others, she shows no pity, nor any sympathy regardless of how hard she disciplines and how hard they bawl or cry or plead. Salima has a distaste for people with malicious and harmful intent on others, and if she finds a Novice who refuses to turn from these ways, she does her best to throw them out of the Tower on their ear.

This change is even more profound when her charges are attacked, like when in the war of the Towers. There were attempts made to kill people in the White Tower. When her Novices and Accepted were attacked, she burst into a rage and nearly killed the perpetuator, consumed in the flames of fury, and she had to be ordered by the Mother Sapphira Calen herself not to go down and give the assassin a taste of his own medicine.

Salima, unlike many Aes Sedai, withdraws into the shadows to observe the scene and make her decisions. Working from the Shadows, her plots and schemes are difficult to make out. It is lucky that she devotes most of her time to her studies, not to the political scene outside, though due to the increasing influence of Whitecloaks, she has decided to become more involved in the plots of the world to save it from what she observes will be Whitecloak dominon.

Salima knows that she does not know anything, and readily admits it, unlike most other Sisters, for she believes not in deceiving the world and her companions. She feels that the world is partially the way it is because the White Tower is far too proud and aloof from the main body of citizens of the world. She feels that for the world to regrow and become another Age of Legends, the White Tower must not just pay attention to rulers, but to the common people. It is thus that she is a down to earth sort of person, one that the Novices and sometimes even Accepted can relate to, one who will be truly honest unless she felt it was for their own good.

Salima was born the daughter of a noble house in Cairhein, the infamous house Damodred, which seemed to have a sort of grievous disease whereby most of its members were power hungry. Salima was lucky as she did not possess that trait in her, like her branch of the family. Her father was a decent person, devoting his life to his studies and welfare of the people under him, and her mother was from another major political house, but kind and open, and they were as seperate as it was possible to be for any Cairheinin noble to be from the Game of Houses.

However,Salima found that she had the spark when an Aes Sedai, her aunt, Calara Sedai, came to visit the house. Calara cornered Salima and told her that she could sense the spark in her. It had not manifested, because she had led a simple yet comfortable life. But that soon, it would appear. Salima was told that she had to learn to control this spark, otherwise she would die screaming. It was not a very hard decision to make as to whether Salima was to go to the Tower. Her parents cried a bit when they found out that their daughter had to leave, but otherwise it was fine, and a celebration party was held in her honour.

Salima left on her 13th birthday to the White Tower, and it was there she was enrolled as a Novice and was subject to the commands of Accepted and Aes Sedai. It was a large step down from being able to order most people around, even in the city of Cairhein. At first it was hard to adjust, but the White Tower bends people to their will, and Salima was no different. She became used to carrying buckets of water up for sisters, and she also became used to stirring large pots of soup and being goosed by the workers.

Salima also learnt to control the spark that the Aes Sedai had now released. She learnt to weave and to control that power within her. She learnt how to use it defensively and offensively. She felt the thrill of life and enhanced senses for the first time of her life, and did not want to let it go willingly, but learnt the true meaning of self-control then, by resisting temptation almost strong enough to overwhelm her entire being.

She progressed at a noticeable rate, passing the Arches when she was but 9 years as a Novice. As an Accepted, she grew to love to teach, and volunteered to take up extra teaching for Novices. Her motherly nature earned her the respect and liking of many of the Novices, despite increased pressure on Salima. Salima passed the Shawl after another 8 years of hard study and practice. She nearly failed the test however, due to complacency of her weaving speed. However, she became Aes Sedai, determined to improve in all her areas, choosing the Green Ajah.

She became the motherly figure for all Novices and Accepted to find if they had problems, and had been a great success as a Mistress of Novices before retiring after 50 years in the position. But she became an advisor to those she considered under her charge, guiding them and nurturing them, and those she mentor became well known and were looked up to as role models.

During the War
However, during the Alliance War, Salima took great care of the Novices and the Accepted, and tried not to bring them to harm. She was mostly successful as this attempt. However....

Quote:

And it was thus that Salima Tyhar took great care to prevent the Novices and Accepted from getting underfoot in the process of war, and steered them clear of the battles. Many strictures she imposed, and those under her charge suddenly found that they could no longer move about the city with freedom. An Aes Sedai was always around to accompany the Novices and Accepted when they were needed.

However, the dreadlord Dazar broke the wards of protection around the White Tower. Leading a force of men, he wove a gateway into the tower and brought them into the very boundaries of the White Tower, attacking the rooms of the Amrylin herself. But Dazar did not count on the fact of the many Novices and Accepted working their way through the Tower, and the Aes Sedai not involved in the battle. However, though some of the Novices and Accepted tried their best, they were killed. Salima arrived to late on the scene to do much about the carnage of initiates strewned along the corridors of the White Tower, but she vented her fury on the remaining survivors who attacke her with vehement fury.

With hair like burning sunlight and eyes of blue flame, she made them pay, those who attacked her, summoning the force of the elements to her will and her command, blasting them to ashes with lightning, or sweeping them out of the windows with gusts of wind. It was said that the lucky ones died quickly. Those who confronted her winds however faced a long drop down the Tower onto the gardens or the Battle that raged simultaneously below in the streets of Tar Valon.

Her failure to guard the novices stung her dreadfully, and she took it as a personal insult to her. At the climatic battle at the end of the war at Tar Valon, Salima linked, bringing her powers together with her close friends Kemen and Nyere, and confronted Trav, now known to be the Forsaken Trav and the cause of all the ongoing misery in the Westlands.

Quote:

There was a yell and a enormous explosion, and the ground several yards away erupted. When the dust had cleared, Salima could see a man, his long and neat hair now wild, throwing around fire and lightning. Several Aes Sedai and Asha'man ran towards him and died in the fiery inferno. Salima recognized him as Trav, and from his description, the Forsaken Isha. Spinning on her heel, she walked deliberately towards him, to face death, to bring him to answer for all the lives of the initiates of the Tower.

Footsteps behind her made her turn, and Nyere and Kemen, her two closest friends, fell in step beside her. Salima nodded gratefully at them, then her face turned grim as she walked towards Trav, who had finally noticed them, a sneer on his face as he gestured at them. Immediately, Nyere and Kemen linked with her, and Kemen took control, weaving a barrier of Air that caused Trav's blast of Fire to skitter away. However, they all felt the heat of the wave, and slowed, as Trav, now frowning, gestured again, causing a second, more intense wave of heat, crackling on the edges with lightning, to surround them all. The shield now was dented, and Salima could not see how they would hold out for much longer if the attack continued at this pace. They were not drawing on all of the power they possessed, but it was coming close as Kemen poured more and more of the Power into the shield as the attack increased.

Suddenly, there were several more explosions, and lightning blazed and shot right past Trav. Isha snarled and turned, as did Salima, Nsere and Kemen, and Salima saw, with rising hope, that Isha was now surrounded by channelers who were linked in small circles and throwing out individual attacks. And the channelers were powerful enough such that combined, they were able to defeat Isha, hopefully. Sarcerar and Sapphira were there, and they were the most powerful channelers in the Tower. Earth roared and fire and lightning blazed as Isha battled them, and despite overwhelming odds, Salima noticed that he was deft and often outmanuvered them such that their attacks missed and struck others in the circle. Several had already died, and Salima was getting worried about not doing anything. Tapping Kemen on the shoulder, she nodded, and he passed control to her.

It was as such that Salima, with the strength of a circle of three, and together with the leaders of the other circles, struck down Isha in a combined attack that he could not shrug off

Salima spends the remaining of her life as a mentor to the young initiates and the newly raised Green Sisters in the Tower.

Okay, so I'm updating the main page right now, but I promise I will get to this within the next 24 hours. Hopefully tonight. :)

I think this is a great character. :D I'd like to know a little more about her history, what was her life like as a novice, Accepted, and Aes Sedai? Did she have any adventures before becoming Mistress of Novices? What were some of her most memorable experiences as MoN? You did a great job describing her physically and her personality is wonderfully described, but I don't know a lot about what happened to her. Also, the name in the history is different than the name you're registered with. :)

Err.... When exactly was Salima the MoN? You do have to remember that we have had several MoNs here, including Karanina Mardin, who is going to die but whose bio I haven't edited yet. She has been the MoN recently and will be at least until the beginning of the War. We can't have several MoNs running around at once.

I like the general outline, but some things still need to be corrected. First of all, the name Airaya still appears. And secondly, it still doesn't say when exactly Salima was MoN. In one place it says,
"She became the motherly figure for all Novices and Accepted to find if they had problems, and had been a great success as a Mistress of Novices before retiring after 50 years in the position." When did she become the MoN and when did she retire? And then it says: "Salima was thus immediately elected as Mistress of Novices by Sapphira Sedai when she was Amrylin a few years back. Salima enjoys her position, and claims the Novices and Accepted as her own property." What? Sapphira was Amyrlin for about thirty-something years. So there is no way that Salima could be selected by Sapphira and been MoN for fifty years. And as I said, Salima could have been MoN only before Cayana or after Karanina. Or possibly both. Please state at what age Salima was raised MoN and when she retired.

And one last thing. The minimum strength for an Aes Sedai is 61. So if Salima's base strength is 26, she would have to spend 35 years as a novice and an Accepted before she can be raised. With only 11 years of training, Salima's base strength would have to be fifty, which is not even allowed. Please re-read the stuff about the channeling system and edit Salima's years as a novice and Accepted.

Sorry it's taken us Admins so long to reply. *pokes the other Admins too* You still need to edit your One Power scores (it says that Salima is 65 and you need to make her stronger if she was to be raised to Aes Sedai in fifteen years). But other than that, it's fine, although I would like to see a bit more history. I approve.

:look

Anyway, one or two little things:
Quote:

Age when raised to Dedicated/Accepted: 9
Age when raised to Asha'man/Aes Sedai: 8

The numbers you have there are the years she took to reach those levels, not the ages where she was raised. Either one is fine, just be sure you have either change either the labels (Years as novice/Years as Accepted) or the numbers. :)

Also, you said before the history that she began to channel at 13, and in the history you said she left for the Tower at 16. You didn't actually say at what age the Aes Sedai told her she could channel, but finding out she can channel and going to the Tower would probably go hand in hand. One of those needs to be changed, or a reasoning needs to be written for why she found out she could channel, started channeling, and then waited 3 years to go to the Tower. This would also mean she had a block to work through, unless she also had some sort of unofficial training.

Fix those two details and it's approved. :)
