The War And it was thus that in the year FE 203 that the Golden Alliance, led by the dreaded Forsaken Trav, and his ally, the darkfriend dreadlord Dazar, declared war on the Alliance of Four. In the spring of that year, Robert Laurel, leader of the alliance of Four, acclaimed the armies of Tar Valon, Andor, Murandy and Cairhien, and marched southwards to meet the Golden Alliance at the border of Murandy. However, in a series of dreadful and costly battles, the army of the Four were pushed towards the Andoran border, and the Murandians fled Lugard, fearing for their lives, for the Golden Alliance, led by such foul beings, seemed unstoppable and killed all in their path, allied as they were by the damane of the Seanchan, and the might of their arms. But the Alliance of the Four soldiered bravely on, outnumbered and outmanned as they were. Tear defended their homeland, though they were unable to hold on to Far Madding. Tar Valon and Cairhien held Aringill and prevented Andor from falling, for a time. However, Robert, captain of the armies, was pushed back to Caemlyn, and in the midst of battle, Cairhien turned traitor, and seized Aringill, leaving nearly no people alive. The dreaded army of the Golden Alliance then proceeded on to Tar Valon, leaving Caemlyn under seige, with the brave Queen Morguase left inside, while her daughter Nathalie was sent for safekeeping in the Twin Towers. But tragedy struck on the brave army of the Four, as they retreated back to the city island of Tar Valon. The rear army was ambushed, and the House of Laurel nearly lost one member as Robert was struck down and wounded. Fortune however, smiled down upon him, and an Aes Sedai was at hand to gate him back to the city direct with the main army just behind. In the Infirmary however, the Aes Sedai could not do much, for he was too weakened to be Healed. The trauma of Healing would result in death by exhaustion. It was then and there however, that Mother took pity on this brave man, and bonded him as her Warder, and with her strength that she lent him, he survived the Healing. Meanwhile, Thom Hendricksen took command of the army and retreated on the River Luan, but was overwhelmed by numbers. Robert, having recovered, remained in the City with his sister Erin Laurel, military governor of Tar Valon and commenced getting the City ready for a long siege. He ordered the evacuation of the entire population of the City state into the island itself, along with the destruction of anything that the enemy might find useful. All the grain and produce that could not be brought into the City was to be burned. All the livestock was to be driven into Tar Valon, any that couldn't was to be slaughtered to provide food for the army. All the villages, farms, towns and other structures were burned to the ground to deny the invaders any shelter. Those to the east of the City went into the mining towns in the Kinslayer’s Dagger and the Spine of the World, where resources were enough for them to last for years on end. The smoke of the burning cities and food lasted in the air, and remained all through the month, whereby the army of gold converged with a vengence on the city of Tar Vlon. Here however, they ran into problems. The city of Tar Valon was fiercely defended by the Tower Guard, and Asha'man and Aes Sedai too aided to battle, for they were not bound not to kill. And Tar Valon was supplied well with nourishment and water by the foresight of the channelers, who imported enough foodstock to last a decade, just in case. It was during this period that the blessed Mother Sapphira and her Gaidin Robert Laurel admitted their blossoming love for each other, and they were married in the Great Square in front of the White Tower, in defiance of their enemies and to boost morale. And Isha was wroth and smote about him with the Power he held in his fist. In retaliation did Isha break the wards on the city with his power, and the army of gold marched in, triumphant and sure of their victory. And Dazar broke the wards on the White Tower and attacked the Amyrlin in her quarters. Much blood was shed that day, but the alliance of Four triumphed once again with their valour, outnumbered and outmatched as they were, and Isha was pushed, spitting vengence, back once more out of the city when all seemed to be lost. For Robert once again saved the day, stripping all the armies and attacking the back of the army of gold, sending them into panic and rout. Sapphira was unharmed and she destroyed Dazar Ayende. But the army of Gold refused to admit their defeat and continued the seige, despite repeated repels and quality of life, so close to their goal to subvert and defeat the channelers as they were. And the stalemate lasted for several months on end, without respite, until that fateful day where Trav revealed his Power and his identity as the Forsaken Isha for all to behold and fear. It was thus that he, using the fear his name inspired to spur on his army, attacked the city of Tar Valon. And it was such that the army of the four clashed with the army of the gold on the plains in sight of Tar Valon. Back and forth the armies surged, until the army of gold was almost totally annihilated by the forces of Aes Sedai, Asha'man, and the armies of the four. And in anger and hatred Trav smote about him with the Power and his Will, dealing death and destruction onto the armies of the four, entering the fray for the first time. Consumed in madness, break he did the gates of Tar Valon, killing several Aes Sedai and Asha'man before they realized their plight, and the citizens of the White City fled screaming whilst all the Aes Sedai and Asha'man near held him back. Among those who fought him was the legend Sarecer, the formidable triad of Salima, Nyere and Kemen, and future Amyrlin Nephuria. Many who fought that day died, but they alone who faced him survived, and overwhelmed Trav in sheer number and power combined, for Sarecer was very strong, immensely powerful and skilled, as was Nephuria, whereas Salima, Nyere and Kemen combined their powers in a circle and fought as one. Then the alliance of four turned their attention to the east, to the betrayers of Cairhien. Upon the defeat of the alliance of gold on the plains of Tar Valon, there was a great lessening of Alain's forces, and the alliance of four triumphed easily over the lessened and weakened forces of Cairhien, and the then Master of Arms Robert Laurel defeated Alain himself in single combat and was crowned King of Cairhein in that very place and time. -Written by Salima Tyhar The War: General outline -The Golden Alliance with Illian, Altara, Amadicia, Tarabon -Alliance of Four with Andor, Cairhien, Tear and Murandy. -Dazar Ayende and Lord General Trav, really Isha, two strong Forsaken headed and influenced the armies -The Golden Alliance wages war against the Alliance of Four and Twin Towers -Robert takes command of the armies of Tar Valon, Cairhien, Andor and Murandy and moves south -The Golden Alliance is aided by the Seanchan and they push the army out of Murandy and into Andor -Cairhien turns traitor, Caemlyn is sieged and Robert brings the army back to Tar Valon -Robert is ambushed and wounded, he makes it back to Tar Valon where Amyrlin Seat Sapphira bonds him to save him -Tar Valon gets ready for a siege, the people were evacuated and all produce outside the City walls was burned -Tar Valon is sieged, Robert and Sapphira get married (the siege lasts about 2,5 years) -Southharbor is taken and troops start pouring into the City, Dazar attacks the White Tower from inside -Robert calls all remaining troops to attack the army from behind -The enemy forces are destroyed and captured, Dazar is killed by Sapphira -The siege continues, until several months later Robert attacks and the armies clash on the plains near Tar Valon -The Alliance of Four and Robert triumph, and the now revealed Forsaken Isha is killed by several channelers attacking him at once -Robert attacks Cairhien, killing the treacherous King of Cairhien and is crowned in his stead -The Alliance of Four announce Robert High King and Sapphira High Queen -Written by Reor Rahidram The High Kingdom: The Imperial Government consists of Illian, Altara, Amadicia, Tarabon and the more independent Andor, Cairhien, Tear and Murandy and the city state of Tar Valon. The losing nations, Illian, Altara, Amadicia and Tarabon are solely ruled by the High King and Queen for the time being. The monarchs of those nations are being held captive and educated before they are released to rule their nations once more. Before that date, these nations are ruled by imperial governors. Andor, Cairhien, Tear and Murandy are ruled by their respective monarchs, but they accept the rule of the High King and Queen as well. Cairhien is ruled by King Robert Laurel's regent, Eril Laurel. The city state of Tar Valon is ruled by the Twin Towers, and the M'hael and the Amyrlin remain the sole leaders of their respective Towers. Local customs and rules are guaranteed, save for those especially overriden by the High Kingdom. Rulers of all nations within the High Kingdom will be given Aes Sedai or Asha'man advisors. The monarchs and governors will meet several times a year on set dates to discuss matters of importance. Tar Valon will function as the temporary capital of the High Kingdom. A new capital will be built during the next decades. The Children of the Light have fled Amadicia but they have regrouped along the western coast. They now hold Falme and Arad Doman. The Borderlands remain independent as they were, as does Mayene. -Written by Reor Rahidram The government: At the top is the High King and High Queen. Their eldest child inherits the job. He or she will be the Crown Prince/Princess and will assume the title of Heir-Presumptive upon reaching the age of majority of eighteen. If the ruler should die untimely before the Heir reaches their majority, then the surviving parent will rule as regent until the majority of the Heir. If both parents are dead, then a regency council headed by the High Chancellor will rule the kingdom. The regency council will be monitored by the monarchs and royal governors of the High Kingdom, who will have the power to demand an accounting from the council at any time and will have the power to disband and replace the council. The High King and Queen will be assisted in their work by Ministers of State, who serve at the pleasure of the monarch. Chief among the ministers will be the High Chancellor (Prime Minister), who will be the chief Minister of State and oversee the workings of the royal government. Other ministers will be the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Royal Treasurer), the High Justicar (chief law enforcement officer of the kingdom), Lord or Lady Chief Justice (head of the law courts) and Lord or Lady Marshal (Minister of War). The Minister of Intelligence is answerable only to the monarch. They will work closely with the Lord Marshal and the High Justicar to ensure the security of the High Kingdom. There will also be Ministers of Trade, Health, Education and more to come. The monarchs will also name a High Council at their discretion to advise them on such matters as they see fit. There are no restrictions as to whom may be named to the Council. Legislative power will reside in the Legislative Council. The Council will be made up of two Houses. The House of Lords will be made up of such lords who meet minimum requirements of wealth and property as approved by the monarchs and royal governors. The House of Commons will be made up of the mayors or council heads of the various towns and cities in the High Kingdom such as meet a minimum population requirement. The number of votes in the Commons a city has will depend on the population. All financial laws such as new taxes will be required to originate in the Commons. All laws passed by the Legislative Council require the approval of the High King and Queen. -Written by Robert Laurel The High King and Queen: Robert Laurel and Sapphira Calren Heir-Presumptive: Gwen Laurel High Chancellor: Sapphira Calren Chancellor of the Exchequer (Royal Treasurer): Remeian Maran High Justicar (chief law enforcement officer): Lord or Lady Chief Justice (head of the law courts): Lord or Lady Marshal (Minister of War): Sorcha na Reille (NPC) Minister of Intelligence: Elaine Treherne Minister of Health and Education: Amore Minister of Trade: Governor of Illian: Governor of Altara: Governor of Amadicia: Governor of Tarabon: |
