Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah
![]()
|
A solitary figure clad in yellow and grey walked serenly across the gardens in the White Tower. Her name was Nyere Sieten, and she was of the Yellow Ajah. The strongest Aes Sedai in the White Tower, she used her immense Talent in the One Power and in Healing to Heal as many as she could while the War raged in the South. She had been there on the scene of battle several times, to Heal the injured and refresh those who were immensely tired. However, even her Power had limits, and she had been pushed into resting for a while in the White Tower. Despite the aid of Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah, the armies of Illian, Ghealdean, Amadica and Altara pushed their way inexorably up to Tar Valon. Worried about the safety of the city, the citizens of the towns around Tar Valon had been pushed into the city. Every inn had been stuffed full of people, and more often than not there were even people sharing beds because there were shortages of them. Sanitation could become a liability, but Nyere, along with several other sisters sent back to the Tower to wait, could not abide just sitting there doing nothing. Some of them were checking sanitation, so that disease would not spread easily among the people in the city. The army of the Golden alliance was not more than a week away, and defenses were being set up by the Green Ajah and the Shen al'Aman Val, such that the city would be able to withstand a long seige of up to years. Already food was being stored, lasting up to more than a decade, and the granaries were bursting. However, what could not be stored was burnt, and even now, there was still the faint smell of smoke in the air that the winds had not completely blown away yet. However, balancing that was the green of the trees that surrounded her, and the sweet smell of life still rife in the Gardens of the Tower, where now, more than ever, some Aes Sedai were seeking recluse from the troubles of the world, to calm their minds, and to face what comes with a new stronger mentality. Nyere was not one of them, but she enjoyed the peace of the gardens, after the turmoil and death of the battlefield, and treasured it all the more for the scarceness of peace in the world now. Her grey eyes shone with a fierce light and laughter, betraying emotion that her face would have kept hidden from others. Her hair stirred in the slight breezes that were common in the garden. Nyere walked along the path, acknowledging curtsies and bows along the path as Novices raking the path sensed an Aes Sedai of immense strength, and jumped to looked as though they were actually doing something, rather than raking the same spot again and again. Nyere happened to chance upon a poor novice who was standing on the path side, leaning against a tree, moping her brow. She was completely exhausted. Nyere recognized her as a runaway novice who had been brought back to the Tower, and was now paying the price of it. Nyere looked at her, and her brows drew down in the frown as the novice looked up, squeaked, and curtsied. "You will report to the Mistress of Novices now, and tell her that you have been found resting, while you should have been working and contemplating the results of your actions. Go now, before I decide your punishment myself!" Nyere snapped at her, her temper, normally not easily roused, tenuous because of the strain put on her during the recent days, not far from snapping entirely. The Novice looked startled, then downright scared at the expression on Nyere's face, and fled. Snorting to herself, Nyere strode over in a way that would have been called flouncing, had it been done by anyone but an Aes Sedai, and plumped herself down in the chair, and started to contemplate the possible futures of the Towers. |

Amore knew Androus was near without turning, she could almsot feel his breathe on her neck. Not many Sister's walked alone anywhere these days, but she was older than almost any living Sister, it would do no good for other's to see her acting in such a manner. Masking her glow she touched the knott in her head just so with spirit, "Androus please give me at least 20 feet. You are hovering." The man did so with a scoul, he did not like leaving her to bathe alone, and admittedly, often she did not make him. They were newly Bonded, but it was already known among her ajah that she bedded the man. Few who looked on him would blame her. The usual cheery even tempered woman had changed in other ways too. She had found herself getting angery, seeing Androus talking to a female sword worker, one day in the training yards. Her jealousy had been enough the man had actually stopped mid scentence to look at her as if expecting attack. Of course not, not him, but that overly friendly woman? A smack on the bottom...No, the smile on his face as he realized what the bond showed had made her flush embarassment to her toes, and he hadn't forgotten. He had his share of outbursts as well, when she would look at an Asha'man or speak to one and request privacy, he always did so, but she always had to deal with the feelings of hurt and distrust that would send the man sulking and mad. Until she made him forget about it late in the night. Amore seemed more personably, often seen with other women now, since she had returned with Androus from the fields, for rest, and to check on the Ajah. She almost did not see the Novice and Yellow Sister, Nyere, everyone knew her, as strong if not stronger than the Amyrlin herself. By the way the noivce squeeked off she wasn't in the best moods. Amore walked toward her, bowing slightly to the other woman. "Good day to you Nyere Sedai, would you mind if I shared this bench?" She smiled, ignoring the...irritation...jealousy and something else that sprung up in the bond as Anderous took a guarded position near a tree where he was visable but out of earshot. She did not turn to look at him, the only hint of any passing emotion was a slight tightening around her eyes. |

Nyere jumped and looked around at the sudden voice that jutted into her thoughts out of nowhere. If she were anyone but an Aes Sedai, she would have been flustered. As it was, her cheeks became flushed slightly as she registered the presence of someone who could channel. Thinking it was a Novice, she almost opened her mouth before her eyes registered the person as an Aes Sedai. Blinking and putting her hand to her mouth to cover her first confusion, Nyere glanced around. The Aes Sedai was Amore, an sister who was considered ancient, and her warder, Androus, was nearby. Nyere nodded at Amore's request. "Why of course, Amore. It would be rather nice to have some company, while we still can have company, considering these days of turmoil and war." Nyere sighed and looked at Amore in the face, meeting her grey eyes. For all Nyere's power, Amore still had age and experience on her side in this battle. Nyere had also worked with her schools, teaching and educating where she could, sharing her vast knowledge with the neglected of society, the orphans and the unwanted. Whoever they were, they still had a live that was worth living, if only someone was able to shine a window full of sunlight into their lives. Some of those had the spark, or had the innate ability, and Nyere had found several at those schools and sent the girls to the Tower. She had also found some very bright brains which she had taught previously in accelerated classes. However, all this had come to a half several months ago in light of the impeding troubles. And she still wondered how they were doing. Nyere sighed and asked a tentative voice. "How are your schools doing?" |

Amore picked up on one emeotion she found odd, he was feeling guily, but not about being jealous, about finding the other Aes Sedai attractive. As she realized that, her jaw would have clenched, had she not been of an age to hold herself together through a firestorm. Still, her realization was made obvious to him almost immidiatly, because she had not been quick enough to hide her face and mask the bond, jealousy, and something smoldering, like anger but different. He stopped look at either woman. Amore looked at Nyere and her face showed her worry. " Truth to tell, the school within nearly all of the White Cloak laands have gone silent, as well as those in there allies citys. I sent word for them all to flee when the declaration was made, I told them to be ready for the worst, we can only hope for the best. I pray the light finds them all safe and hidden, but with all that is at hand....Well,we are left with little idea. The School in Amadicia has been burned, Anderous and myself saw it. Few of the girls escaped from what I hear, we only saw the charred remains, bodies piled in the center of the black skeleton of the school, without a care." Amore soon has forgotten about the man she shared a mind with, as she remembered the sight, so grotesque, and the townspeople, walking by, ignoring it as Guards stood about should anyone attempt to burry the bodies. She had been unable to do anything, surrounded and alone, not even grant them a funeral. She was in the courtyard again, looking at the woman, her eyes refocused. "Time brings change, and I have a plan. The rest of the homes have been placed under Blue Ajah watch, should we have need we will travel to protect those who remain. Anderous and I have actually just returned from the south, making sure things were okay, a lot of people between here and there, although we traveled most of the distance, there are whispers of a large army somewhere heading here, old rumors, so I wasn't surprised to learn it common knowledge among the Towers. " She glances at her surroundings, giving Anderous a small smile, "How about you, I hear you're making a name for yourself in the fields, with your healing." Amore would change the subject, war was death, and death was never a pleasant topic. |

Nyere nodded sympathetically as Amore looked into the distance, haunted by memories that she now shared. Nyere shared Amore's sadness, and felt angry. How could any self-respecting human being even think of doing such a thing to people, children even. Inwardly, she hisses with rage, and mentally added it to her list of reasons for retribution against the Whitecloaks. Children of the Light? They were nothing but overgrown bullies who had gained mass support through bribery and deceit and lies, lies they had told for so long that they had even begun to believe it. Bullies however, who had the support of the Forsaken, Trav, though it was not commonly known in the world, but it was known in the Tower. "How about you, I hear you're making a name for yourself in the fields, with your healing." Nyere blinked as the topic suddenly changed and Nyere was now being questioned about her activities on the field. She nearly shrugged, slightly embarrassed at the topic of conversation now. "Well, many Yellow Sisters have gone out to help Heal those who were injured during the war. Still, there aren't enough of us. Many die every day that none of us can save, because we cannot Heal them in time. And we are tired from it. I just have more stamina than most because I'm ... well ... have a greater ability at Healing and channeling than most." Her face was slightly flushed by that statement. Nyere smiled weakly. "I've been helping with the Wards on the White Tower and purifying the water supply. I was sent back to help prepare Tar Valon for the oncoming seige. We have several Brothers and Sisters taking down and renewing the Wards on the Tower against Travelling every day, with the strength of full circles. Hopefully they will hold out against the Forsaken who is rumored to be in the army." Nyere shrugged, then frowned as she realized that someone else who could channel was standing nearby. An Accepted stood, mouth agape at the latest announcement. Nyere's gaze snapped to the Accepted, who stood rooted to the ground by Nyere's piercing gaze. "You will not mention anything that you have heard in this conversation, or I will have your skin. Go and tell the Mistress of Novices that you were spying on an Aes Sedai." Her temper, frail now was blazing again, though she kept her face under control, her voice burned with intensity. |

Amore would sigh as the Novice attempted to run by, already on ehr way red to her toes. With a light touch Amore would stop the girl. She squeeked, Amore's face could have made a White proud. "Tell me your name child." As the Novice speaks giving her name, and almost a title, a new arrival then, even worse. "Should I hear rumors, and if they start do trust we shall hear, I will hold it to you, and be sure I receive the right to punish you personally, or this Sister could, perhaps both. Best you forget what you heard, and tell the Mistress of Novices, to give you extra chores, time to stand around eaves-dropping, seemis your time could be better sent doing other things." Amore's own dismissal was cool, Anderous seemed the startle the girls again, at this rate she was going to have a heart attack before she reached the Mistress of Novice's for punishment. Returning to the lady beside her Amore would retain her calm, and smile at the woman. "Well that will be a rumor twisted six ways from feastday. Nothing to be done now. As for the Tower's defences, We can prepare all we wish, but the number one rule of war is, nothing ever goes as planned. Be ready for anything Sister, there are even those among the Tower, who I would not wish to be alone with, who knows what will be revealed in time, we have our plans, do you not think they have theirs? I have no doubt they do." The Aes Sedai would fold her hands in her lap, appearing ocmpletely calm and in control to any who would look on. Anderous could feel her tension though, and he stood rigid against a tree. At the the shade from the tree would disguise the scowl he wore somewhat. |
