It was going to be one of those nights again. Shaya tossed and turned for hours, slowly getting more annoyed with not being able to sleep, until she was finally too wound up to even try. She kicked of the blankets and slipped out of bed as quietly as she could. Fianna was asleep on the floor and she lifted her shift to step over the Aiel. Perhaps there was something to be said for sleeping on the cold floor in a hot night like this. Rummaging through her personal belongings, she quickly found what she was looking for. She slipped into a loose pair of breeches and a loose shirt. It was just about all she had been allowed to keep and even though they were well worn, they were dark and comfortable. She slipped out the door quietly and made her way down the massive halls of the Tower. She had been here for a while now, but she was sure she hadn't even begun to know her way round all of the place. She avoided the staircase that led up the Aes Sedai Halls and kept walking down, intending to slip into the garden for some fresh air. Just as she was about to turn towards the back entrance, she notice a staircase leading down. Casting a quick look over her shoulder to make sure she was still alone, she looked down the stairs to see if she could see where they went. It was to dark to see past the first set of steps and turning to one of the dressers that lined the hallway, she picked up a candle in a holder and lit it from one of the sconces on the wall. The stone floor was cold under her feet, but Shaya didn't mind. She preferred walking round barefoot and feeling the ground underneath the soles of her feet. The staircase wound down for what seemed forever, but finally she reached the bottom of it. It appeared she had found the Tower cellars and storage rooms. Walking down the corridor she could see lots of tracks in the dust on the floor, where the servants had walked back and forth with supplies. As she walked on though, the tracks seemed to get less and less until she finally came to a side bend where there were none. It looked like the dust had not been disturbed in ages and Shaya was instantly intrigued. Either there was nothing of interest down this side, or someone had made sure it was forgotten. Only one way to find out! Checking the candle to make sure there was enough left, she stepped into the darkness of corridor. It wound down to what she thought must be the east side of the Tower until she finally came to a solid oak door at the end of it. Thusfar all the doors she had passed had simple one bolt locks on them, but this one had been locked with no less than 4 locks. Shaya grinned as she thought whatever lay behind that door must have been worth locking away properly. She reached up into her hair and deftly removed 2 of her hairpins. Only someone who would inspect them very carefuly would realise they were not ordinary hairpins. Shaya had had them made for her purpose a long time ago and they had proven their worth on various occasions. She knelt down in front of the bottom lock and felt around with two of the pins, till she located the tumbler in the lock. There was obvious craftmanship here, for it took her several attempts before she was rewarded with that satisfying click she was looking for. The other locks were slightly easier, but only because she knew what to look for now. A small trickly of sweat made it's way down her spine by the time she was finished and she softly blew out some air in her face to cool it down. She got up slowly, put the picks back in her hair and listened carefully for a few good minutes to make sure there was no one coming and no sound from behind the door. When there was nothing but the sound of her own breathing, she picked up the candle and slowly pushed the door open. As she stepped inside, she felt a tingle on her skin and she rubbed her arms subconsiously. Lifting the candle higher, she saw the room was packed with crates and shelves, most of them covered in the same amount of dust the was in the corridor that had brought her here. If she had expected to find riches, she was dissappointed, for the room seemed stocked with what appeared to be strange objects of art. The shelves in front of her contained various small figurines in the shapes of animals or humanoid creatures, some made of wood or stone, others made from materials she did not even recognise. The larger objects had been placed on the floor and Shaya wondered why anyone would bother to keep some of them as they appeared to be broken or missing parts. She was just about to reach out and pick up a small jade cat that seemed to call out to her, when she picked up the sound of footsteps. She immediately blew out the candle and closed the door. Panic rose inside her as she realised the footsteps were definately coming in her direction. What had she been thinking? She could only imagine what they'd do to her if they found her her nosing around in Aes Sedai affairs in the middle of the night. She tried to make herself as small as she could behind one of the crates, perhaps they would miss her if they thought she had already left. She realised there was small chance of that as there was only one set of footsteps leading in and none of them going out again. Shaya cursed her curiosity and steeled herself to face whatever was coming up to the door now. |

((OOC: I can't believe I missed this thread
))It had been a long night, hot and damp, quite unpleasant. Cayana hadn't been able to sleep and even reading, which she had been doing for a few hours now, was getting awful. It didn't matter how interesting the dreamworld was to read about it was just way to hot even with cooled wine to drink. Cayana didn't have a window in her room to even get a draft and so she left to take a walk through the corridors hoping they would be a little cooler. She was still dressed in the same dress she had worn during the day, a dark green dress very similar to the ones worn in Arad Doman, just a little adjusted to Cayanas taste. There where no embroideries or anything fancy with it, just simple in a nice soft linnen-silk mixture material. In this hot weather she usually kept away from the warmest materials and also the materials that weren't all that thin, knowing that how much she managed to ignore the heat her body would eventually do something about it. The corridors where a little cooler then her room, and so she took a little longer walk then what she had expected. It felt nice to not have to concentrate at ignoring the heat as much and leave some of the concentration at her thoughts instead. Thoughts about what she had read, Valarian, Rialt, even Sanin, and some of the other Gaidin. Cayana was young surely, but she wasn't at all unaware of the advantages of having a warder. She did wish for it, but with her job she just didn't have all to much time for such. With her newly found father, who she spent quite a lot of time with getting to know, didn't exactly help in that perspective. As she passed through the halls of the Blue Ajah suddenly one of the doors busted open. At the sight of Cayana though she blue sister halted, her thoughts clearly going around in her head. The Aes Sedai wasn't properly dressed, but she was really stressed. "Good night, Sister. Is something the matter?" The blue sisters composure suddenly changed then into a much clearer stance. "The eastern storeroom, the one just a few flights below the novice halls, someone just opened one of the locks without inactivating the weaves." Cayana frowned. "Go to bed, sister, I'll deal with the brat." It was clear what it was all about. A novice, Accepted or servant who had no idea about the doors that where not only locked but guarded with weaves. Most likely a novice or servant. The sister agreed soon enough, not really willing, but she could see the point in sending a dressed Aes Sedai to deal with the matter to be a better option then herself who where only in her shift and a robe. But the blue sister didn't go to back into her room, she went of to alert the guards after asking Cayana which way she was planning on walking down. Cayana understood it perfectly well, she had almost forgotten about it after thinking it probably was a silly novice running around. The person, who ever he or she was, was already in that storeroom and so Cayana hurried down the hallways and down an other way that lead to the storeroom. On the way she grabbed a torch that was in a basket in one of the shrubs bu the stairway. The way down did not lead by the novice halls and so she could hurry quite a bit without disturbing anyone. Soon she reached the corridor and was instantly disgusted with how badly it had been taken care of. There was enough dust on the floor to see footprints in it. She reached the final one bolt door and opened it, peering down the hallway towards the door she was looking for. Right now there wasn't anyway out, if the person still where in there he or she wouldn't be able to walk past Cayana without her noticing it. The door at the end was closed and the hallway dark as Cayana walked through it. She had closed the other door behind her and now stood in front of the door that had been broken into. There where no marks on the door and so Cayana realized she was dealing with someone who could pick locks. Not knowing who was in there Cayana shook her head and embraced Saidar. The sweet joy of it seeping through her as she wove the flows to inactivate the weaves that the door was warded with. Who ever it was he or she could count themselves lucky it hadn't been any worse wards on the door. There where much worse ones, very much worse. After tying off the weaves Cayana opened the door and walked inside, putting the torch at a halter by the door and then she called out. "I know you are there, come on out." While in touch with the weaves at the door she had felt the presence of something alive in here, behind what she now knew was one of the crates, so she was quite sure who ever it was the person hadn't gotten out. She was looking straight at the crate as she spoke, quite firmly, the second time. "Come on. Stop fussing about." Cayana hadn't let go of saidar. One never knew what to expect even from thieves, she wasn't here to get attacked. At the same time the guards reached the outer door. They stopped there as they heard Cayanas voice and they stood posted waiting for something to happen. If Cayana where to be attacked she would have backup in an instant. If she wanted to handle it herself they wouldn't be bothering her. |

(ooc: Now I'm the one who can't believe I never noticed you replying!! since this is to develop my major Talent, I would like very much to keep going, So sorry to give you so much work Cayana Sedai! ) Shaya froze behind her crate as soon as the door opened and the light from the torch flooded in. She nearly moaned as she realised it was the Mistress of Novices herself that had come looking for her. If she had any illusions about being able to remain unnoticed, they were soon shattered as Cayana faced her hiding place instantly and called her out. She was just about to get up; resigning herself to the fact that she had been caught, when two fierce looking guards appeared behind her. Shaya's eyes widened. Were they planning on locking her up? Her heart was suddenly beating so loud, she was sure everyone could hear it. Shaya had had intimate first hand experience about the things that happened to you in prison and she could only imagine what a lockup in the Tower would be like. Would they torture her with the Power? Cayana was starting to sound impatient now and Shaya slowly rose from behind the stack of crates. She resisted the urge to fall on her knees before the Aes Sedai, babbling all sorts of apologies, if only just. If not for the Cayana there she might have tried to talk her way around the guards and even though they looked very disciplined, she thought she might even have succeeded. Men were usually quite susceptible to helping out women they thought needed their help. Something was not right though, how had they known she had broken in so quickly? She was quite positive that no one could have heard her. Her eyes darted to the doorway and she wondered if the slight tingle on her skin when she stepped into the room had anything to do with it. Could they do that with the Power? Despite her anxiety about the punishment she was about to receive, she made a mental note to delve a little deeper into the matter when she had a chance. She thought it would be positively unwise to ask Cayana about it now, judging by the look on the Mistress of Novice’s face. She cast her eyes to the floor and stood there with her head bowed. Behind her she could still sense the cat figurine, which somehow exerted a strange pull on her. Another thing to investigate later, she decided. She knew better than to add insult to injury by speaking before spoken to and so she awaited Cayana to speak in silence. |

Nothing happened at first but eventually a girl in white came out from behind the crates. She was afraid, that was clear to Cayana, and she didn't say a word. The girls eyes darted to the doorway then let her eyes fall to the floor and she stood there with her head bowed. No words, no curtsies, just clear fear and the girl seemed to be waiting for punishment. "Explain yourself Shaya." Cayana said in an icy tone, without moving an inch. She didn't feel like leaving this room quite yet for two reasons. Shaya might have taken something, and Cayana wanted to make sure it was returned before they left, second she wanted to feel that lure of the ter'angreal. Some of them drew more then others, some only drew because of abilities others felt cold and without any pull on Cayanas part. It was a peculiar feeling she rarely got to feel as she was not actively working with ter'angreal. Cayana had considered it once, but after realizing she had no talent that would help with making new ones and realizing the cost if something went wrong she had stopped considering it and turned her attention elsewhere. The girl in front of her had clearly lost her mind as she started to tell a story about how she had woken by a noise and followed it down to this storage room. It apparently suddenly vanished into thin air and she had hid herself behind the crates when she heard footsteps, afraid that there where more of what ever had created the noise in the first place. Without showing her thoughts about wether or not Cayana thought the story held any truth what so ever she asked. "Are you saying that the door was open when you came down here?" Hearing the girl agnolish it made Cayana want to slap her, she didn't however, but in her eyes a fury burned blazingly hot. "Guard, you know what to do with thieves." The men by the door hesitated only for second before stepping into the room. They looked at the door frame as they walked through, more aware of certain things then Shaya had been. "I do not like liars Shaya." Cayana said in the same icy tone she had used since walking in the doors. The Aes Sedai didn't move still, all she did was embrace saidar slowly, making sure she didn't trip any of the ter'angreal, and wove a shield she put between Shaya and the source. Had the girl been an accepted then this would have been a lot harder. Now she wasn't and Cayana had no real problems with blocking Shaya from the source. ((OOC: it's not much but hopefully it will lead to some fun RP If I assumed wrong in Shaya continuing on her lie about the door, then just PM me and I'll change this post

“Explain yourself, Shaya” Shaya’s mind whirled as she desperately thought of a way to talk herself out of what could become a very prickly situation. She quickly came up with a convincing story and by the look on the guards faces, she had them completely convinced at least. Lying was her specialty after all. Cayana’s face, however, was completely unreadable and Shaya pushed on, not sure if she believed any of it. It soon became clear that she had definitely not managed to fool the Aes Sedai, for with her next words she ordered the guards to seize her. "Guard, you know what to do with thieves. I do not like liars Shaya." Shaya slowly swallowed and only had a second to let her eyes dart to the door before the guards seized her arms in a tight grip. She instantly knew she didn’t stand a chance against them, even if she could somehow escape their grip Cayana would easily stop her with a weave. It was the first time she had been shielded like that and it nearly send her into a panic. She had to fight the urge to try and reach out to the source and she caught a small glimpse of what it must be like for women that burned themselves out or got stilled. It grated her to be called a thief when she had not even touched a single thing and she briefly wondered if Cayana was convicting her because she knew about her past. Once a thief, always a thief. At least the mistress of novices had not mentioned anything about expelling her from the Tower… yet… The thought almost made her laugh bitterly; for months she had been trying to get out the flamin’ place and now she was worried they would kick her out? Now that she had tasted from the bittersweet nectar that was Saidar, she could not give up on it without learning more. Her pride kept her from going back on her story, for it would only confirm that she had indeed been lying. Better to say nothing and leave a slight doubt as to the truth of her words. Her bluff might have been called, but that did not mean she had to show her cards. Looking up at the Mistress of Novices she said: “I did not take anything, Cayana Sedai.” Her voice sounded flat, but surely Cayana could see that she held nothing and the novice shift was not suited for hiding anything anywhere. Suddenly there was a sound like a whisper in the back of her mind and Shaya nearly gasped as she realised how close she had come to reaching out to Saidar, despite the shield that held her so expertly. The whispered voice in her head was getting stronger and Shaya found it hard to focus. All she had to do was feed a little Spirit into the cat, surely that could do no harm? Little beads of sweat appeared on her brow as she tried to resist the hypnotising lure of the figurine. The guards seemed to notice some of her discomfort, for she felt them tighten their grip on her. Almost like an afterthought she wondered if this was some kind of test Cayana was putting her through, or perhaps it was a subtle form of punishment? A shiver ran down her body and she realised she was as cold as if she had been walking outside without a cloak for ages. One of the guards frowned as she subconsciously moved closer to him to absorb some of his body heat. If this was Cayana’s way of punishing her, it was very effective, for Shaya felt like someone was trying to take over her mind, a very unsettling experience indeed. Only by clenching her jaws together could she keep herself from blurting out everything. “What’s happening? What is this place? What are you doing to me?” It took her a while to realise the words were coming out of her own mouth. She was babbling like a lunatic and felt like screaming in panic. Her hands clenched into fists on her skirts and it was not till she felt her nails digging into her palms that she was able to find some control through the pain. She could only wait for Cayana to release her from this madness. |

Shaya did not like to be shielded more then anyone else, that was clear the instant the girl got blocked. The girls eyes darted to the door, but she realized that it was no use running. The guards griped Shayas arms tightly and the girl was reaching for the source. Cayana could feel it and blocked it still, but the way Shaya was doing it it was clear it wasn't completely conscious. Fear could cause all kinds of problems, especially among novices who still clearly needed guidence. “I did not take anything, Cayana Sedai.” Shaya said in a flat voice. Cayana eyed her and asked her a couple of questions. "Since you do not think that speaking the truth, why should I believe that that wasn't your intention? Just because ter'angreal storage rooms are always warded and you therefor got caught doesn't mean anything when it comes to your intentions, now does it?" Shaya would probably have realized by then that Cayana was only trying to make the girl tell the true story. But a change and a blurting of words made it clear something was wrong. “What’s happening? What is this place? What are you doing to me?” Cayanas eyes darted though the room and with a curse she urged the guards to take the novice outside. She let go of saidar but unless they got out it wouldn't do any good. How could I have been such a fool? She thought watching the figurine as the guards lead Shaya out in any manner possible. The girl was cold, she was confused and on the brink of panic. The guards weren't all to comfortable either, but they knew better then to let go of the girl no matter her behavior. Once the girl had been dragged out of the room, Cayana followed and closed the door. She corrected the wards she knew how, it was far from all of them, and locked it then turned to Shaya who was still not all well. "Now I want to hear the truth, Shaya. Do not lie to me again." Cayanas serenity wasn't quite the normal façade at the moment. She was angry enough for it to show a bit on her face and the tone in her voice should be a warning to anyone. Cayana had never been the best remodel when it came to the ability of keeping serene at all times, right now though she didn't really care. What had happened in there had been partly Cayanas fault, but that figurine should never have been there. Someone would get a severe talking too once she was trough with this, no matter what hour it was. To see Shaya down here, to have seen her in that room made Cayana feel a bit disappointed. She knew enough of the girls pranks and her dealings with Valarian, but that she broke an entering into a ter'angreal storage room. f Cayana didn't make the girl tell the truth she would be forced to lock the girl up and let the other Aes Sedai deal with her just like any thief would. That which scared criminals out of Tar Valon didn't seem to have frightened Shaya, the chair as it was called. Shaya had only spent her time in the tower though, so it wasn't odd that she'd not heard about it. Light this girl needs teaching not punishment. It would be such a terrible waste to let the girl go through the justice system and get what ever punishment the Hall sought fit. I won't let it get that far. Cayana thought to herself, but she couldn't help to admit that this was no ordinary prank. If Shaya had been here to steal it was out of her hands and had she been here to steal it probably only had one explanation, one Cayana preferred not to think about. |

Relief flooded over her as soon as they passed the threshold. She briefly noticed Cayana forming a few complicated looking weaves and suddenly the information clicked in her head. That’s how they knew I went inside! The room is protected with weaves! Shaya decided she had certainly learned a very valuable lesson. I can’t believe I was that stupid. After being in the Tower for so long, she should have known that even a complicated lock was not the way the Tower kept their secrets. The eerie silky whispering voice in the back of her head had all but vanished now and Shaya was slowly gathering her wits about her. One of the guards had released her arm and she rubbed it subconsciously. "Now I want to hear the truth, Shaya. Do not lie to me again." Shaya had never heard the mistress of novices sound so angry, her voice cold and flat. Shaya suddenly felt like 5 years old again, caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Unlike when she was growing up with her aunts though, Shaya found that what Cayana thought of her mattered to her. She resisted the urge to hang her head and shuffle her feet, being caught at a lie and being forced to tell the truth was an experience she hoped she wouldn’t be faced with very often again. Taking a deep breath she said: “I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to explore the Tower a bit more. I had spotted these corridors the other day and wondered where those steps led.” She looked at her hands, briefly recalling how she had made her way down here. “I found this corridor with all the locked doors and figured there must be something interesting behind them. So I opened the door to have a look inside.” She shrugged and had the decency to look slightly ashamed. “I swear Cayana Sedai, I had no idea what was in there, I was just curious.” She still had no idea what exactly was kept in there, but she realised now there was a good reason for it being locked away. She gave an involuntary shudder as she thought about what had just happened. She no longer believed it was something Cayana had done to her since it had stopped to abruptly when they left the room. She was never going anywhere near those rooms again though, not all the power in the Tower could make her go in there again. She realised her reason for breaking and entering sounded fairly lame now that she spoke the words out loud and she hoped Cayana would not wonder about how exactly she had opened the door too deeply, for she hated to give away the fact that she knew how to pick locks. Perhaps Cayana knew already, or guessed she could at least if she knew anything about Shaya’s background. Shaya had no idea about how much information the Blue that had brought her in had provided. She realised they would be keeping a close eye on her from now on, so she would have to give up on any future “excursions” for a while. She nearly sighed before realising that she was definitely not off the hook yet. She still had her punishment for Rei Valerian to carry out, but apparently he left the Tower on some important mission for a while. She hoped her punishment would not interfere with her lessons, for she got so little time with the Keeper as was. Obviously her mentor insisted she did her classes before continuing with her channelling lessons. She tried to remember she had brought this on herself, but then she never planned on getting caught of course. She had the feeling she would be feeling this for a long time, if Cayana had not already decided to give up on her and hand her over to the local authorities. Who were the local authorities in Tar Valon anyway? For some reason she never heard much about crime in Tar Valon. Probably most of them were too afraid of the “witches” to come anywhere near the place. |

To Cayanas relief Shaya gave an explanation that was much more reasonable. She was glad that Shaya hadn't fiddled with that lock with the one power, if she had... Cayana pushed the thought away. The girl hadn't done that and so it wasn't an option to even be thinking about. That no one had seen the novice as she was up walking about in the night was though a mystery. How ever Cayana was sure the guard could give her an explanation for that later. Wanting to believe the novice made Cayana push away any thoughts of Shaya lying for a second time, the girl may be foolish, but Cayana truly didn't believe that the girl would be stealing ter'angreal. At least not without knowing about the wards which guarded them. The girl seemed ashamed of what she had done now at least, that was good. Cayana gestured to the guards to leave and they went after only a short hesitation. "Come with me Shaya, we have some things to deal with now." With those words Cayana started to walk back down the corridor, out through the door and up the stairs, letting Shaya follow in silence, to give her a chance to think about what she had done now. They soon reached Cayanas office and she unlocked the door and went inside. Entering Cayana lit the lamps above a table and a pair of chairs that always stood on darkness when the novices where there normally. Most never even noticed them being there. "You will have a punishment for breaking an entering to that storage room." Cayana said in a calm voice after Shaya had followed her inside and closed the door behind her. "But as you seem only to have been acting on old habits, I won't be letting the Hall deal with this." The look on Shayas face told Cayana that Shaya was unaware of that the Hall was responsible for punishing criminals. What did the girl expect in a city under the government of Aes Sedai and Asha'man? "Anyway, first I'd like to clear up a few things. One being where you actually broke in." She gestured to the chairs and waited for Shaya to sit before she sat down herself. Cayana wasn't angry anymore, not so angry as she had been downstairs, however she had not pulled on that mask of serenity. The Aes Sedai was calm however as she started to explain. "The room was a storage room for ter'angreal, that we know the use for. It was locked as a reminder of the wards that protect it rather then locked to keep people out. The room was only supposed to contain ter'angreal that doesn't do any harm, but as you experienced someone had put one that did in there. You should be glad you didn't channel in there on your own or that the wards had been heavier. You might not have survived that." Changing the subject slightly Cayana started to explain what ter'angreal where and some things about angreal and sa'angreal. All since it was clear that Shaya didn't know anything about them. "The objects in that room are all very old. They where made during the age of legends by Aes Sedai of that time, using the One Power. They all have a specific purpose and are triggered in different ways using the one power. The cat figurine in there where triggered by the use of the One Power drawing upon it by itself. You noticed the use of it, and as far as I know it is a form of trap. How ever it only affects channelers, which was why the guards where not affected." Cayana remembered really well Shayas behavior as that ter'angreal was triggered. How many greens would have done that without being under the influence of that ter'angreal? A sudden thought stroke her, but she pushed it away. Some used their sensuality more then others among the Greens, but to see a novice act like that openly in front of Aes Sedai, it made Cayana want to shake her head. She didn't but instead kept on. "For a long time the gift of making ter'angreal was lost, but at the time of the Dragon Reborn it came back. The first know person to have the gift was Qeen Elayne Tarkand of Andor, she was also an Aes Sedai of the Green. Since then a few more have had the talent and some additional Ter'angreal have been made." Among those a second ring made to enter Tel'aran'rhiod. Only one of the ones Elayne had made had been a full copy of the old one, that one was in Cayanas quarters at the moment. "There are other objects that have been made with the one power. their use is however not specific, they amplify your strength in the one power however. The weaker one's are called angreal and the stronger sa'angreal." Finishing the explanation Cayana told about the strongest one's ever made and that it was true as the stories said that the Dragon Reborn and an Aes Sedai together had used those to cleanse Saidin. |

Shaya actually felt cold as Cayana spoke of not bringing her before the Hall. Realisation dawned on her as she figured out that was how criminals in Tar Valon were judged and punished. No wonder there was so little crime, for any rogue would think twice before risking that. At Cayana’s direction, she sat herself down in one of the chairs and meekly listened to Cayana’s explanation of what she had actually stumbled upon down there. Slowly she began to realise why the Mistress of Novices had been so angry with her, apart from the fact that she had blatantly broken the rules. It was clear that all was not forgotten yet as far as Cayana was concerned and Shaya was sure she would find a punishment that would fit the crime. She tried not to think of it yet, but in her mind there were all sorts of scenarios and none of them were very appealing. She made herself pay attention to Cayana as she explained about the Angreal and despite her worry about what was to come she found herself utterly fascinated. The whole concept of having an object that could increase your power, or do specific things was very intriguing. Her mind spun as she thought about the endless possibilities and for a moment she even forgot she was there to be punished. She couldn’t suppress a shudder though, as she thought of that silky voice snaking its way into her thought, though even now, part of her wanted to go back to see if the Ter’angreal could do what it promised. The thought of burning herself out, just now that she was able to embrace Saidar and know what sweetness it held was a very scary one. No object in the world was worth losing that. Far more interesting than the Angreal even, were the weaves used on the doors though. They formed a fascinating puzzle that Shaya’s inquisitive mind immediately longed to solve. “Can anyone learn to make these Warding weaves? Do you think I could learn?” The words left her mouth before she could think about it and she immediately shut her mouth again. To speak before given permission was adding insult to injury and she was in far more trouble than she could handle already. Shaya wished she could vanish into thin air, but she didn’t think there was any place that Cayana wouldn’t be able to find her. |

As Shaya asked a peculiar question it was clear she was intrigued rather then discouraged from this by what Cayana was teaching her. But the girl did need to know. To leave it without explanation was asking for a repetition of it and sneaking that unnoticed by the hall wouldn't be all to easy. “Can anyone learn to make these Warding weaves? Do you think I could learn?” The answer to that question wasn't all to complicated and so Cayana started to explain. "Warding is a peculiar group of weaves. Some have a greater talent for it then others, just as healing. But most can learn the easy one's. There are more complicated one's, like most of the one's on that door for example, that takes someone with the talent to do them. If you can learn or not is something I don't know, you'll have to be tested for us to find out about that. But that's not something I think we should do tonight, do you?" It wasn't truly a question. Cayana moved on to the more serious business. "Now, to what your punishment will be. You will be running errands for Gemena Sedai during the first three hours after breakfast every day until she says that you can be relieved of that, and you will have 4 hours of kitchen duty in the afternoon." It took away all of Shayas free time. The normal chores and the classes would take up the rest. "Now, get off to bed, you'll need some sleep before the morning." ((OOC: Sorry for the short post as well as the time it has taken me to respond to this :/ Just to give you some info: Gemena is a NPC Green. She's got warding as a talent. If you want to know a bit about her personality read the thread Swordcraft in the practice yard. If you wouldn't mind I'd like one post about a day of these chores. That's all. It's been so long since this so it wouldn't be fair to expect more.)) |

Shaya’s temporary curiosity was tempered by Cayana’s cool response, reminding her once more of the exact situation she was in. She almost heaved a silent breath of relief as Cayana determined what her punishment would be. The punishment was harsh, but considering what she was being punished for, Shaya understood that Cayana was doing her a favour. She was fully aware of the fact that for the next month or so, she would hardly be able to breath between classes and doing chores, but she would get through that eventually. She didn’t need to be told that Cayana would be watching her closely to make sure she completed the punishment and showed no inclination to repeat the offence. Making a deep curtsy, she bowed her head in meek acceptance and said: “Understood, Aes Sedai. I will report to Gemena Sedai before the first bell in the morning.” That would be the hard part, as getting up in the morning seemed to be the hardest part of the day. Even after all this time in the Tower, her body simply could not adjust to the new routine of getting up so early and going to sleep almost as soon as the sun had set. It usually took her forever to fall asleep, no matter how exhausted she was after a day of classes and chores. Maybe the extra chores would help to make her sleep at least. Shaya suppressed a grimace, a month – if Gemena let her go after that – suddenly seemed like a lifetime. Cayana’s last words had obviously been a clear dismissal, she had no doubt the mistress of novices was eager to get back to bed and so she made another curtsy and quickly left the office to return to her own room. Whilst walking through the hallways, she had some time to think about the things that had happened that evening and decided she had been very lucky indeed that it had been the Mistress of Novices who had caught her. From many other Aes Sedai she would have been howling in pain for weeks. The thought made her swallow, for the thought of that instantly brought back flashes the torture she had gone through in the hands of Caius’ enemies. (ooc: Thanks for replying Cayana Sedai, the punishment will give me some good RP oppertunities, as well as a way to explore my Talent!) |
