Sapphira smiled to herself as she sat at her desk, signing the last of the papers left to her. That smile, though, had several sources, only one of them being the fact that she had no more paperwork. Though the Light knows that's a blessing in itself! One of her mentees, the girl she had adopted from Etain's care, had been raised to Accepted very recently. Sapphira stood, she had had confidence that Marian would pass, and had been quite happy when she was summoned. Sapphira saw no point in wasting time, and so had already informed Marian that she wished to start her advanced saidar training soon. She stepped out of her office with a warm smile for Lyla, her mood was bright, and she was fairly sure it would stay that way. She walked quickly but lightly through the Tower halls, smiling and nodding at everyone she met. She was determined for this to be a good day, and so far it had been quite lovely. She stopped to chat with a few sisters on her way down, mostly about trivial things. As she walked through the halls, she thought about just how nice it was that she could still talk to those women she called "Daughter," some of them had been good friends before she was given her current title. Of course, she knew that things would never be exactly the same, how could they? She had accepted that long ago though, and now prefered to focus on the better points- the fact that she could still speak to them at all was certainly a good.

Sapphira stepped out of the Tower, it was a rather windy day, and snowing rather heavily. It was enough to make her pity all of those who did not know how to ignore the temperature. Even though she could ignore it, she wrapped her cloak around her closely, she might not be able to feel it, but it would still affect her health. She walked through the gardens, not stopping now, most of the Aes Sedai were indoors, and the novices who had to be out certainly did not look like they wanted conversation. Sapphira walked quickly to the training hall, and pushed the door open, she did not feel the cold, but it was still nice to be inside out of the wind and snow. She turned down the hall, past the rooms where novices were learning to channel, continuing until she came to rooms where she felt weaves being wielded. More of the advanced saidar training went on down here. She found an empty room, the room she was to train Marian in, and opened the door. These rooms were slightly bigger, but no more decorated, still only two chairs and a table. Sapphira had come prepared though, they would be working with the flows and weaving today, and so Marian would need something to practice on. She set a small stick, a twig really, on the table. It was certainly nothing fancy, but it was perfect for practice with more than one weave, after Sapphira drew all the moisture out of it. She also set down a platter of soft, still-warm cookies. She did not supply her novice mentees with snacks, but the Accepted were a step above, and Sapphira brought this as a bit of congratulations. Sapphira sat in one of the chairs and took a cookie to snack on while she waited for the Tower's newest Accepted to arrive.

Marian pulled her cloak on over her shoulders, tying the strings neatly across her neck. She had a note telling her that the Amyrlin Seat wished to begin her advanced training already. It was soon after being raised to Accepted, and Marian was still adapting to the new lifestyle, but she was excited to take up more advanced training. She supposed the Amyrlin Seat, or rather Sapphira Sedai, had adopted her into her ring of mentees, considering that Etain Sedai was away from the Tower. It was interesting, being in the presence of the Amyrlin Seat, and learning from her was a great honor, Marian supposed. She couldn't help but like the fact that the Amyrlin Seat, leader of the White Tower, was down to earth enough to teach some of the novices. It was comforting to know that she was led by a leader who cared.

Patting her hair in the mirror, as to make sure that every strand was laid out correctly, she figured she'd better make her way to the training halls quickly. As an Accepted she had gained more freedoms, but being late for training with the Amyrlin Seat was not one of them. Hurrying out to the hallway, she locked the door and set off down the hall with a brisk step, her skirts making a satisfying swish. It was strange to see some of the novices regard her with a look of just a small bit of respect. Up until recently, those novices had been on the same level as she had, and Marian wasn't sure if she liked the extra authority. It made her uncomfortable sometimes.

Outside was cold enough to make her gasp, the wind stinging any exposed skin. Tightening her cloak around her, she walked even quicker than before, snow flying at her. Marian thought the snow was pretty, but she didn't enjoy the temperature. The training halls were just ahead, and she hurried inside, glad for the warmth. Shivering, she glided through the hallways in which she had learned to channel as a novice, smiling fondly at one of the rooms where Etain Sedai had taught her to embrace the source. Shaking her head, she went past these rooms and into the corridor in which a stronger feeling of Saidar could be felt. Here, more advanced weaves and channelling were practice. She smiled to herself, excited.

Glancing at the slip of paper she clutched in her hand, Marian stopped at the correct door and knocked quietly. Stepping in after a moment, she looked at the Amyrlin Seat and spread her banded skirt in a great curtsy, much more steady than the last time she had met the woman. Last time, she'd been rushing from washing dishes - her dress had been wet from the washing. Appearances can make or break a person, she thought to herself. "Good morning, Mother," she said politely.

Sapphira looked up as the door opened, admitting the most recent of the mentees Sapphira had gained. Sapphira noted that this time, Marian's dress was spotless, the bands of color on the hem and cuffs stood out brightly, and the Great Serpent ring sparkled gold on her left hand. "Hello, Daughter,"she said to the young woman standing in front of her. Prior to this, she had refered to the girl as "child," as she did all novices, but the girl was sealed to the Tower now, and as such was one of Sapphira's many daughters. There was a certain kinship with the Accepted and Aes Sedai- more especially the latter -Sapphira would not deny it, she truly did feel as though these women were her daughters, to be watched over and cared for as best she could. A girl being raised to Accepted was like the birth of a new daughter, Sapphira looked over the newest member of her 'family' with a mother's pride. It was unexplainable how she could feel so for a girl she had only last week viewed as simply another novice. How she could look at this young woman as a daughter, though she had only been in the Tower a few years, and Sapphira had not known her for most of that time. She realized it was much like being Aes Sedai, the others in the shawl were refered to as 'sister,' and Sapphira recalled that only a few weeks with the red fringe, she truly had seen them as sisters. Yes, it was much like that, she decided.

"Sit please, have a cookie," she said with a smile for the young Accepted. If she did not yet, Marian would soon know of the severe pressure new Accepted were put under. Just in case, by some slip, an unworthy child had made it through the Arches, the few weeks after the test were filled with great pressure on her, to weed out any that were not strong enough. Though the new Accepted's chores were more tedious and often more distasteful than the novices', it ended soon, and after that the Accepted had very few chores. "Welcome to the ring, child," she said, after Marian had settled into her chair. Though Marian was 'Daughter' now, she was still 'child' as well, until she earned the shawl, and it was best for her to remember that. There was no reason she could not talk a bit with the girl before they got down to business, there would certainly be enough happening later to make up for whatever they said now. She was happy for the young girl, most certainly, a new Accepted was always cause for happiness, even if one did not know the girl, which Sapphira most certainly did. "How are you, dealing with your Arches alright?" she asked, allowing a bit of concern to show in her voice, she was sure it was the most difficult thing any girl had done to that point. She thought back to her raising to Accepted, there had most certainly been a lot to think about, most of it good, with all the excitement, but with a strong mixture of bad, with the memory of the Arches so near. Even now, dwelling too long on her experience in the Arches was enough to bring her down. It did not upset her nearly as much as it had so long ago, but there were certainly no fond thoughts or memories of what had passed within that ter'angreal.

"Sit please, have a cookie," said the Amyrlin Seat with a small smile. Marian was slightly surprised to be addressed and treated so calmly. As a novice, it had not been so. She had to continually remind herself now that she was not a novice anymore. She did as Sapphira Sedai instructed. "Welcome to the ring, child." Between nibblings of the cookie, Marian replied, "Thank you, Mother." The Amyrlin Seat really was being quite nice about it all, and Marian wondered why. Even if she were Accepted now, she was still only that - Accepted. She wasn't Aes Sedai, and Marian doubted she'd gain the shawl for a long time - if she ever did. That led Marian to wondering. She didn't know what the test was to become Aes Sedai, but if the test to only become Accepted were that difficult, she couldn't possibly imagine what the test was. It made her shiver just thinking about it.

Shoving that thought away, Marian wondered what Ajah she would choose after she passed - and she would pass. After the three arches, Marian was determined to gain her shawl, whatever the color. Marian had shown some signs of Healing skills, so perhaps the Yellow Ajah would be for her. She enjoyed reading and learning enough, maybe Brown? The Red Shen was out of the question now that she was Accepted, at least, Marian thought it was. The Gray Ajah had sparked her interest slightly, but Marian didn't think that she'd be White Ajah, like her former mentor had been. The Greens were interesting as well, but Marian didn't know if she would have the strong streak like they did. Last there was the Blue, but Marian didn't know if that would fit her personality. There was still time, she supposed. Lots and lots of time. Finishing her cookie, she looked up at Sapphira Sedai, wondering what they would do.

((OOC: Eek. It's kind of short. Sorry, Mother. :look ))

Sapphira watched the girl, she seemed deep in thought, but also very attentive, ready for whatever Sapphira would say. She took another cookie, and took a small bite before speaking. "You have already been through embracing, and you can tell the flows apart, which is what novice training is all about. Now that you are Accepted, Daughter, it is time to become more specific. You will still have to learn basics in all five elements, but your training will also become more geared toward your two or three strongest, and training you in your Talents. Also, now that you wear the Great Serpent ring, you can choose what you study, and so I ask you: What would you like to learn today?" That was one of the things Sapphira loved most about training the Accepted, no longer was the decision entirely hers, now the girl could choose what she wished to learn. It was a fine way to get insight into what interested the girl, as well as perhaps a way to see what Ajah she might choose- such as the girls Talented in Healing. She waited to see what Marian would say, it might be a tough decision, for years she had been told what to do and when to do it, and now she could choose whatever she wished. Sapphira was fairly sure she would be able to help Marian with whatever she decided, being strong in the Power as she was, she could at least explain how to do whatever Marian wished.

Sapphira looked the Tower's newest Accepted over again, what did this girl's future hold for her? As Accepted, she was sealed to the Tower, and most girls in her state went on to become Aes Sedai. That was no gaurantee though, some girls passed through the Arches only to fall out of the Tower in the weeks just after, though it was taken as if they should not have been raised anyway. Some girls, though, had the potential to become Aes Sedai, but not the willpower. They could make it through the impossibly difficult novice years, but somehow the easier Accepted years proved too much for them. Marian seemed stronger than that though, from what Sapphira new, and she hoped that the girl would one day earn the shawl. Of course, that was not the sort of thought that she could share with anyone, everyone hoped that the Accepted would go on to be Aes Sedai, mainly to add another to their numbers. Sapphira, though, had a liking for this young woman, perhaps because of her mentorship, but Sapphira thought it was also because she was an intriguing young lady. She looked forward to seeing what sort of woman Marian would make, and how she would add to the definition of Aes Sedai. But she was getting ahead of herself, the girl was only just now Accepted, and she was only just beginning her advanced training. Sapphira put her mind back to where she was, and waited to see what her new daughter would say.

"You have already been through embracing, and you can tell the flows apart, which is what novice training is all about," the Amyrlin Seat said. Marian nodded. Etain Sedai had taught her all of those things. Marian remembered coming to the White Tower, back when she had been afraid of channeling. It had been frightening to think that she could learn to touch Saidar. Once she had embraced the source, that fear had left, replaced with different ones. For the most part though, her training had gone pretty smooth. Now it was time to concentrate. "Now that you are Accepted, Daughter, it is time to become more specific. You will still have to learn basics in all five elements, but your training will also become more geared toward your two or three strongest, and training you in your Talents." Marian didn't know what her Talents were yet, though it was suggested that perhaps she had a spark for Healing. She hoped so. "Also, now that you wear the Great Serpent ring, you can choose what you study, and so I ask you: What would you like to learn today?" This was something new, something that Marian thought she would fully enjoy. Instead of learning what she was told, she got to choose the subjects she would study. Ah, the perks of being Accepted...

Marian didn't have to think long before she answered. "Well, Mother, if it is acceptable, I would first like to learn my Talents, so I can begin to focus more on them, and know where my strengths lie," explained the Accepted, very respectfully. She didn't know how much speaking out was considered too much. There were still limits on Accepted, and to the Aes Sedai, she was still a child, barely a toddler in her abilities. Someday, perhaps, she would be equal with them, but Marian knew she still had much to learn. Marian had always known that. As for her lessons, Marian had thought long and hard about them, the night after being raised to Accepted. The ter'angreal and raising process had given her something to look for, something to aim at, rather than stumble around blindly. She still needed to decide what she wanted to do as an Aes Sedai, but this seemed to be the first small step. She waited patiently for the Aes Sedai's answer, still finishing off her cookie politely.

Sapphira finished off her cookie as Marian said that she would like to learn what her Talents were, and where her strengths were. Sapphira nodded, that had been what she expected, it was the most obvious choice. "Alright, then I'd like you to embrace saidar, and we'll find out what you're best with," she instructed, her mind working ahead to what would be next. Discovering Talents was something that was not always easy, sometimes they manifested themselves quickly and without the necessity of finding them, and others showed themselves with ease of weaving. Many, though, were not something that could be discovered so simply, some were enhanced abilities with weaves that were not often used, or not taught in most training. It was not too terrible a task, though, certainly not as bad as breaking a block would be, something Sapphira had the unhappy task of doing for a novice. Discovering a girl's strongest Powers was much easier, and could often be helpful in learning what her Talents might be. After a few moments, when Marian had a grasp on the Power, Sapphira nodded. "Now, take one of the flows, any will do, and weave a small knot. In most girls, the ones that are easiest to grasp, and easiest to weave are her strongest elements."

Sapphira waited for the girl to comply, and wondered what her strengths would be. Most women were strongest in Air or Water, but that was not the case with all. She wondered more about what Marian's Talents would be, Healing was a common one, Sapphira herself posessed that Talent. What else would Marian want to study? Talents and strenghts were a common starting point, and a good one in Sapphira's opninion, but that was certainly not all. The number of things one could do with the Power was nearly endless, the Five Powers could be combined in many ways, and how they were woven added infinate possibilities. When Sapphira was Accepted, she had been eager to learn anything she could about the Power, and even now, she was still happy to learn some new possibility that saidar afforded.

Marian did as the Amyrlin Seat instructed. She reached for Saidar. It opened to her quickly now. No longer did she require to sit through the meditation process which opened her to the One Power. It was strange to think that she had ever had to. It was simple now - almost too simple. Drawing too much on Saidar could kill a woman, and it was hard to restrain from that. Marian wondered if that was why the Aes Sedai had put so much work into disciplining the novices. As one became trained in Saidar, she needed just that - discipline. A moment with Saidar and no discipline could burn you out, or worse - kill you.

She reached quickly for anything she could grasp, ready to weave a knot with the power she selected. Earth came to her this time. Earth had always been particularly easy for her to grasp, Mariand didn't know exactly why. Perhaps it was her strong point, but then again perhaps not. She had heard that women were stronger in Air or Water, and men in Earth or Fire. She almost made a face, years of novice training kept her from it. Maybe she shouldn't be weaving with Earth then...

What did it matter? Working skillfully and silently, she weaved a knot of her in front of her, just below eye level for both the Amyrlin and Marian. Tieing it off, she glanced up at the Amyrlin respectfully, waiting for her next instructions. Marian was quite eager to learn, as she was sure the Aes Sedai saw. Light, she probably saw it in all the Accepted she met.

Sapphira waited while Marian grasped the Source, and nodded when it came quickly to the girl. She was progressing quite well in her training, and though Sapphira had not been her mentor from the beginning, she could not help but feel some pride on the girl's behalf. She was a bit surprised that Marian wove Earth, generally women were not stronger in Earth, but perhaps Marian was one of the exceptions. She tied it in a quick knot, just below Sapphira's eye level, and waited expectantly. Sapphira could tell that she was excited, and with good reason, and new Accepted with all of this freedom certainly earned excitement. Sapphira nodded when Marian completed her weave, and smiled. "Very nice, I am a bit surprised by your choice of flows, but if that is what comes easiest to you, very well. Perhaps, then, one of your Talents involves Earth." Sapphira's weakest element was Earth, but she was strong enough in the Power that she should be able to teach the Accepted whatever she needed to learn. "However, many Talents involve more than one Power strength, so I would like you to choose another flow that comes easily to you. You do not need to tie it off if you don't want to, just get ahold of it." The girl could obviously tie knots, Sapphira did not need another example of that, and so she just wanted to see what else came easily to her mentee.

Sapphira waited to see what Marian would do, allowing herself to relax, the Accepted were expected to be able to channel on their own, and Sapphira was only hear to teach her how to use the five elements, she would surely be able to find another flow. It was later in the lesson, when they got into Talents and weaves that Sapphira would have to be more alert. For now, she was quite sure she could relax a bit. Even so, she did not let her gaurd down all the way, no Aes Sedai in her right mind would ever do such a thing, and especially a former Red, now the Amyrlin. There were always threats, even witin the Towers she was not completely safe. Sapphira hated that fact, but it was something she had known for a very long time, and though she wished very much that she could change it, she knew that that was no longer her job. Sapphira waited to see what flow Marian would choose, would she continue to prove herself different by graspin Fire, or would she choose one of the more common female strengths of Water or Air, or maybe it would be Spirit, spread equally through the genders. Her first choice made Sapphira more curious than she had been as to what she would choose.

However, many Talents involve more than one Power strength, so I would like you to choose another flow that comes easily to you. You do not need to tie it off if you don't want to, just get ahold of it," instructed the Amyrlin Seat. Marian nodded sharply, showing her understandment. It had been established early in Marian's training to show that she understood. It was dangerous in the White Tower to try things without understanding. She knew that girls had burned themselves out doing such things. Marian had never been one of the foolish novices, but she wasn't going to start being a foolish Accepted. Light, they'd probably demote her to novice again. She shuddered, suddenly very grateful she'd been raised, even with the memories and nightmares the ter'angreal had left.

Still grasping the source, she reached for another power, choosing another easy one - Spirit. Marian had been able to grasp Air and Spirit about the same, but Fire and Water had never come so easily to her. Oh, she could still channel them, but it wasn't the same. She weaved a basic weave of Spirit that she'd learned early in her training and mastered by the time she was raised. Marian knew that she could weave more difficult weaves and still come out well with them, but she was not here to impress the Amyrlin Seat, nor would the Aes Sedai be impressed. Besides, wasn't it better to have a perfected weave versus a mediocre one? She maintained it this time, as the Amyrlin had instructed, and looked up at the Aes Sedai, waiting for further instruction.

In the back of her mind, she wondered what her Talents were. Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to Heal? Or perhaps Foretelling? Light!

Sapphira waited while Marian chose her next flow, watching as the girl wove a simple weave of Spirit. Sapphira thought for a few moments, if these were Marian's strongest elements, then she was certainly not among the usual for women. Of course, strength in Spirit was not uncommon among either gender, but that Marian chose neither Water nor Air for her other made it a bit more curious. There were some few of the Talents that required both Fire and Spirit, but not very many, it seemed as though Sapphira would have to work separately with each one. Start with the Spirit, she decided, it being the stronger of the two in herself. She went over some of the weaves that required Spirit in her mind, Keeping was a fairly common one, or Warding, perhaps one of those would be Marian's strengths. Well, she had to start somewhere, and why not there? She embraced saidar, but allowed only a small amout to flow into her, she had no need of any great amount of the Power to teach a simple weave. "We'll start with Spirit," she said matter-of-factly, and chose the flow from among the rest. "Let's try a simple Keeping first. With Talents that involve weaving, girls will often have a much easier time with flow that proves to be one of their Talents. In many cases, like in Healing, it involves not only ease of weaving, but also the weaves they create will be more effective. A woman Talented in Healing may be able to easily Heal a broken leg, and create the weave faster, where a woman with little ability for it may only be able to heal a small bruise, and take several minutes to weave it." She paused to make sure Marian was taking it all in.

She wove the Keeping slowly enough that Marian would be able to copy it when she finished, but not so slowly as to make it an overly simple task. Her main purpose here was to help teach Marian her Talents, but her training did not end there, the girl had many other things to learn about the Power, and now that she was Accepted, Sapphira could expect her to be able to pick up on the smaller things. Sapphira finished the weave and tied it off, waiting for Marian to attempt it as well. She wondered whether this would, in fact, be one of her Talents, the odds that Sapphira's guess was right on the first try were slim, but it was possible. In any case, Marian would at the very least get a bit of practice with Keeping, a very useful weave to have mastered. And, if it was not one of her Talents, then that would be one possibility to cross off the list. Of course, there were thousands of choices, and Sapphira had no intentions of guessing blindly for days to figure out the girl's Talents, first she would try the most common ones, perhaps Healing next, but not more than two or three. After that, she would have to find some other way to determine the girl's Talents. For all I know, she may have a Talent that can't be used in here, we may have to get out into the grounds to test for something with Earth. Often used only as a weapon, Earth had fewer possibilities for something that could be discovered here, but perhaps Marian could create cuendillar. That was, of course, assuming that Earth was involved in her Talent, just because she had an ability with it did not mean her Talents had to involve it, but either way she would want training with it, which would more than likely mean leaving this little room. Perhaps it would present an opportunity for the girl to even get out of Tar Valon for a short while.

Marian watched as the Amyrlin Seat embraced Saidar. The soft glow of light came around the Aes Sedai before Marian's eyes. The light was not foreign now, and Marian recognized it among many of the women who lived at the Tower. "We'll start with Spirit," said the Amyrlin Seat. Marian nodded. "Let's try a simple Keeping first. With Talents that involve weaving, girls will often have a much easier time with flow that proves to be one of their Talents. In many cases, like in Healing, it involves not only ease of weaving, but also the weaves they create will be more effective. A woman Talented in Healing may be able to easily Heal a broken leg, and create the weave faster, where a woman with little ability for it may only be able to heal a small bruise, and take several minutes to weave it." Marian nodded again to show that she understood. She was very eager to find out what her Talents were, and she continually had to remind herself not to go to fast. People get burned out that way, she reminded herself sharply. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she waited as the Aes Sedai began to weave the Keeping weave.

Marian wasn't really sure what the Keeping weave was anyway, but she paid close attention to it, not interrupting her mentor while she weaved. She knew very well that Sapphira Sedai could weave much faster than she was, but this was for learning purposes, and Marian had to pay attention to each detail of the weave. Once the Amrylin had tied the weave off, Marian began to try it by herself. The weave that Sapphira Sedai had woven hadn't seemed difficult while the Aes Sedai had been channeling, but now that it was time for Marian to duplicate it, it seemed much harded. Things weren't always the way they appeared... She sighed and struggled with it, strangely reminded of the time Etain Sedai had asked her to copy a thread of Spirit. Marian frowned, creasing her forehead a bit in concentration, and wove as best she could. It took quite awhile, and by the time Marian had finished, she was quite sure that Keeping was not one of her Talents whatever it was. She looked up at the Amyrlin and asked, "Forgive me, Mother, but what exactly does Keeping do?" She felt a bit silly asking the question and blushed, but she knew it was better to ask now rather than later.

Sapphira waited while Marian wove, she wove slowly and appeared to have some difficulty with the weave, apparently this was not one of her Talents. After several minutes, she finished and looked at Sapphira. She asked what Keeping was, Sapphira filed away the difficulty Marian had had with the weave before answering. "Keeping is a weave that does just as the name suggests, it keeps the effects of time from whatever it protects. Armies often use it when they can, to keep their food supplies from molding or being infested. Many people use it to protect things of emotional value that they do not want worn away by time, or perhaps an important document that needs to be kept safe. It usually only involves Spirit, but sometimes Water is also involved." She stopped there, there was not much more to be said about Keeping after all. She thought for a few moments about what to move on to next, Warding was still a possibility, but it had so many possibilities that Sapphira decided to try something a bit more concrete first. Healing was a common Talent, and no matter what form of Healing she tried, it would involve Spirit, perhaps with her strength in Earth she would be skilled in the strongest form of Healing. She picked up the end of her Keeping weave and untied, and then unwove it. There was really no purpose to the unweaving, other than that Sapphira wanted to try it. It was one of her Talents, or she most certainly would not have attempted it, it was far too dangerous to attempt without a lot of practice if someone experienced was not watching over the whole thing. Perhaps Marian would prove to have the ability, it was incredibly rare, and Sapphira would be shocked if Marian also proved to be able to Unweave, but it was possible.

She chose the three flows necessary for Healing, and began to weave slowly again. "We'll try Healing next, watch," she instructed simply, knowing that Marian would comply. "Healing is a dangerous weave," she said seriously, "novices are not taught the weave because of the great possibilities of getting it wrong. As it is, Accepted, though allowed to learn the weave, are strictly forbidden from putting it to use without the closest of supervision from an Aes Sedai." She put the last few threads in place, and tied it off. Healing was generally not a weave that was tied off, but for the use of training, there was no reason not to. She looked at Marian and waited for the girl to begin weaving. Sapphira would not be surprised if Marian turned out to be Talented with Healing, it was a common one, but even so, many women had no abilities in Healing whatsoever. Sapphira wondered, if this did not prove to be one of Marian's Talents, then what would? Discovering Talents often took time, but time that was certainly worth it. She hoped it would not take long to figure out at least one of Marian's Talents, it would be quite interesting to see where a future sister's strengths lay.

Marian nodded gratefully when Sapphira Sedai explained what Keeping was. She still felt slightly embarassed that she had not known what it meant, but at least she knew now, so she would not have to ask the question later. Light, wouldn't that be awful? To be Aes Sedai and not know what Keeping was! At least she was learning it now, while she was Accepted and still subject to learning. You'll always be subject to learning, she reminded herself irritatedly. Seshi always said that you learned new things everyday. How will I ever remember it all? Marian paid close attention as Sapphira Sedai did something else with the One Power. Marian had heard of this Talent, though she though it was uncommon. The weaves that the Amyrlin Seat had woven disappeared as the Aes Sedai worked, and Marian watched her curiously. There certainly was more to the woman than appearance... Then again, most Aes Sedai were like that. Marian wondered if a novice or Accepted would ever feel that way about her. It was hard to picture, so she listened when Sapphira Sedai spoke again instead.

"We'll try Healing next, watch." Marian followed the Amyrlin's command, wondering if Healing would be her Talent. Wouldn't that be exciting? Then perhaps she could join the Yellow Ajah... "Novices are not taught the weave because of the great possibilities of getting it wrong. As it is, Accepted, though allowed to learn the weave, are strictly forbidden from putting it to use without the closest of supervision from an Aes Sedai." She nodded and replied, "Yes, Aes Sedai." She could see why it was so - novices had not been allowed to channel outside of supervised classes for the reason that was dangerous. Saidar could burn you out, if it did not kill you all together. It was funny to think that something so delightful was so dangerous.

Marian watched just as carefully as she had before when Sapphira Sedai wove that weave. This time, she tried to pay closer attention to it all, hopefully to make it easier than Keeping had been. While Keeping would be a useful thing to learn, learning it was difficult, though Marian knew it would be easier the next time that she tried to weave it. However, she'd very much like for things to come easier to her... When Sapphira Sedai tied off the weave, Marian knew it was her turn. She bit her lip for a moment and then tried to copy the Amrylin's weave. Amazingly, and to her delight, the weaves came easier and quicker this time than they had for Keeping. It was hardly stressful, and even though it was difficult, it took much less time. All in all, when Marian finished, she thought the weave looked very similar to Sapphira Sedai's - smooth and well-woven. She looked up to see the Amyrlin Seat's reaction.

(OOC: Sorry this took so long, I was originally waiting for our other thread to end, then lost all ability to RP :look)

Sapphira watched closely as Marian began to weave, this one appeared much easier for the girl, and did not take her nearly as long. When she finished, the weave was well-formed, much better than someone untalented would have done on their first try. "Very nice Marian," she said with a smile. "It looks like you'll be a Healer." She was glad that her mentee had at least one of her Talents, if she could not share a common strength in elements, this was better than nothing. She wondered just how strong a Healer Marian would be, she was not weak in the Power, so there was a possiblity she could manage the form of Healing that required all five Powers. Sapphira decided not to try just yet though, they could come back to it later. She wondered whether her ability for Healing would affect Marian's choice of Ajah, Yellows were Healers, though Healers were not necessarily Yellows. Many girls, upon finding out that they could Heal, often at least looked into the Ajah strictly for that purpose. She wondered what Ajah Marian would end up choosing, many of the Accepted had at least some idea of their future, those closer to their raisings often knew for certain. Sapphira concidered which Ajah Marian would fit best in, she could not really see the girl in the Blue or Green, and the Red was hardly even a choice for her anymore. She did not seem to be very Brown either, and Sapphira would be quite surprised if the young woman chose the White, that left only the Gray or the Yellow. Sapphira could imagine Marian with the shawl of either Ajah, and knew whichever she chose, Marian would do them proud.

She wondered how she was going to discover the girl's other Talents, there were certainly many that would be likely, but likelihood did not make something true. Marian was strong in Earth, perhaps one of her Talents involved that, which meant a trip outside was in order. She debated for a few moments, and finally decided to give both herself and Marian a little excitement. "Marian, we're going to go outside for the next portion of your training," she said as she stood. She glanced around the room to make sure that Marian had brought her cloak with her, it was too cold for the girl to be out without some source of heat. She wove a Gateway, and stepped back for Marian to go through. She followed the Accepted through to a wide field. It was obvious that they were not in the Tower, but turning to her left, Sapphira could see Dragonmount rising out of the plains, and just behind that, the White and Black Towers, barely visible above the slopes of the mountain. She let the Gateway go, and wove and tied off Fire in a large dome around herself and Marain. The Air should warm quickly this way, and it should not interfere with what Marian did. Sapphira looked at her mentee for a few moments before speaking. "Alright, embrace the Source, and get ahold of Earth." She tried to think of Talents that involved strength in Earth, there were not a great many, and most involved Fire, which Marian did not appear to be overly strong in. She knew that a man would be helpful here, the channelers of saidin tending to be stronger in Earth and Fire after all. Sapphira could think of only two.

"I don't know of many Talents involving only Earth, but perhaps one of those I know will work," she said. "We'll try Delving first. Delving," she said as she began weaving, "is used to find deposits of most anything- but mostly metal-beneath the surface of the earth. It is especially useful to the Aiel in the finding of water. It is also used to bring such deposits to the surface." She stopped speaking to concentrate on her weave, it was her weakest element, and Delving was not an overly easy weave. After several minutes, she lay it over the dead grass on the ground, it was not a perfect weave, but it would suffice if there was no other choice. If Marian was Talented with Delving, Sapphira would not be surprised to see a higher-quality weave from her. Marian was strong in Earth either way, so it was likely that she would have an easier time with this than Sapphira had. She waited for Marian to begin weaving, wondering how she would do with this, perhaps they would manage to discover one of her Talents on the first try this time. If not, Sapphira had only one other option before she would have to recruit outside help in finding the young woman's Talents.
