((OOC: This class is for both soldiers and novices, on the Holidays used in the Wheel of Time. My information will probably come from Wheel of Time websites as well as The World of Robert Jordan's the Wheel of Time. Thanks!))

Marian kept running her studies over and over in her head so she would not forget them. One wouldn't have thought that teaching a class on holidays of the world was difficult, but there was a lot to remember. Even for holidays she had celebrated, she had learned a lot in her studies. There were origins of the holidays, as well as certain traditions people followed from community to community. In fact, Marian could remember that the celebration that had taken place in the Towers some time ago. They had had a Feast of the Lights ball. She smiled to herself, remembering the gifts and dresses. Sapphira Sedai had given her a book, one that Marian read often before putting out her light to sleep. Her Feast dress was hung in her bureau in the corner of her room. She supposed she'd use it again sometime. She hadn't grown much since the Feast, and...

She shook her head. No, she had to remember the lesson she was about to teach. She muttered the names of a few of the holidays to herself. "Sunday, Feast of Fools..." Oh, it was easy to remember some of them, but others... Light. Sighing to herself, she found the classroom she had been assigned to and pushed the door open. Marian looked around, seeing everything in order, and entered. She smiled, remembering when she had sat in one of the desks. This class, however, Marian would be teaching, and it was the first one she was teaching as an Accepted. She took a seat in the desk in front, butterflies jittering in her stomach. She didn't know how her novice friends, or the novices and soldiers that she didn't know, would treat her. She had strict orders to send disobedient novices and soldiers to the Mistress of Novices or Master of Soldiers, but Marian really didn't want to do that. It would be such a pleasant class to teach, with nice topics, but Marian didn't want to ruin it sending people to the Mistress of Novices or the like. She groaned, already able to feel a headache coming on.

Instead of thinking about the period to come, she stacked her notes on the table, neatly organizing them into a pile. Marian's script was easy to read, though her notes were brief. She was well prepared, she reminded herself. Looking at the sun outside, she knew she had a few minutes yet, and she tried to compose herself to teach the class. She waited for her "students" and friends to come.

OOC: WOOT!! I'm the first personstp post in your lovely class! WOOT yet again.

IC: Miakoda woke up a bit late today, though she was very fine with that, she had a busy night last night with all of her studying and the chorse that were given to her. She just shurgged iff and would just miss breakfest, she was getting tried of the same ol same ol stuff any ways of what they served. She pulled down her white dress and combed her hair back, trying to tame it was just a wast of time. She sighed and thought to her self another day of same ol same ol stuff she knew what the day was going to be like. Breakfest, morning chorse, classes, lunch, more classes, if there was time more chorse or studying to be done, dinner and than some night classes and studying to do. She grew very restless of the days that were a head of her. She sighed and looked at herself in the mirror, it wasn't like she was going to a ball to meet her one and only, but still she liked to look pretty just for herlsef.

As she walked out of the novice halls there was talk about the accepted Marian was about to teach her frist class. Miakoda smiled she knew the girl though not as well as some of the other novices in the hall, but she still knew her. And had wondered what kind of class she was going to teach. She did some talking with some of the novice that were late as her and found out where the class was, what it was on and what time it was going to start. She thanked her novice friend and walked back to her room. She just had time enough to grabd her things and make her way to the class room. There is always time for another class Miakoda thought to herself as she walked down the class room halls, trying to find the room that was given to the new teacher. The sun shone warmly outside even for this early of a day, Miakoda knew that it would be nice for the next couple of days. She smiled when she found the door and pushed it open. She found Marian at her desk going over papers. Her head looked up to see who had walked in the doors, Miakoda smiled and dropped down in to a bow. She hurried herself in to the class room and found a seat in the front of the class.

Miakoda started to get her things ready as she and Marian waited for other novices and soilders to come to the class. It was open to everyone, and who would really want to miss a class in the different hoildays that are going around the world?but than again some people might not think it was all that fun to learn 'usless' stuff. She sniffled that idea to herself and looked back at her teacher.
With a low voice she asked. "Are you nervous?"

Pushing his glasses on his nose, Edeleas knocked on the door and peeked inside. His face brightened at the sight of two of his friends from the White Tower, Marian and Miakoda. Smiling, he entered and bowed to Marian, who smiled back and acknowledged him with an inclination of her head.

He sat down beside Miakoda, who also smiled at him. Edeleas felt his grin go wider. Since when did I last see these two dear friends? And Marian - it's like she grew up some more!

He sat silently, not wanting to chat with Miakoda first, because he thought it would be discourtesy toward Marian. But he couldn't get rid of the smile on his face.

Shaya

Shaya smiled to herself as she made her way down to her class. It was no surprise to see Marian’s name up on the board next to the start of a new class. She had been expecting the Accepted to take care of her duties as meticulously as she had when she was still a novice. The subject intrigued her, for she had never paid much attention to Holidays and their meanings, unless it fitted in with some grander scheme. She wondered what it would be like for Marian to be standing in front of the class. At least if you were in the class you weren’t as exposed. For a lot of the Accepted it was a sure way of exerting their dominance over the novices and some of them were stricter in their class than many of the Aes Sedai. As she stepped into the class, she recognised Miakoda and smiled at the other novice briefly before turning to Marian to make a curtsy. She only curtsied because there was an unfamiliar Dedicated in the class and she wanted to show Marian the respect she deserved in the presence of someone she knew. She quickly studied the man from under her lashes as she took to an empty seat. His attitude towards the other women suggested he was already familiar with them and it made Shaya realise just how much she had been avoiding any contact with members of the Black Tower since her run-in with Valerian.

There was a broad smile on his face that somehow gave him a boyish charm that Shaya had seldom seen in any of the male channelers she had met. She felt herself respond to his friendly smile, even though it was not directed at her. She sat down with a vague smile playing on her lips and waited patiently for Marian to start the class. She briefly wondered if Accepted were just expected to start teaching classes without ever getting any training on how to teach a class exactly. She very much suspected the Aes Sedai would expect them to do just that, in their eyes it would just be more “character building” they seemed so fond off.

((OOC: Anyone who wants to may still join. I'm not sure if Edeleas will still RP this one, since he was raised to Dedicated, but we've got two novices, so yeah. I'm going to start.))

Marian smiled when Miakoda came in. She knew the girl, though not as well as some of the other novices perhaps. It was still strange having the girl drop a bow, but Marian had come to accept such formalities in the time passing. When Miakoda asked if she was nervous, Marian shrugged and nodded slightly. "I'm a bit anxious," she said, still smiling. She let Miakoda adjust herself, and she went back to reviewing her notes until the others arrived. In came an Asha'man trainee named Edeleas. She'd only dealt with him once or twice, but he was nice, she remembered him well. He bowed to her, and she smiled and nodded her head.

Next came Shaya. Marian was pleased that Shaya had come to her class, just because the woman had always been a support factor for Marian. She wasn't sure why, but Shaya had been one of the first novices that Marian had met when she'd come to the Tower. Shaya curtsied, but Marian knew that was only formality as well. They were too close of friends to relate to such customs. A few more soldiers, recruits, and novices strolled in, but finally, Marian felt it was time to begin. She looked upon her students, many of them her novice friends. Standing up, she cleared her throat, butterflies jittering in her stomach. This would come with time too, she supposed, and it was all part of becoming Aes Sedai... Which she would do.

"Good morning," she said. A few of them grumbled back a greeting, but she didn't pay much attention. "My name is Marian, and as you can tell, I'm only Accepted, but I expect the respect as a teacher and a fellow initiate here." That was important for her to get across. She wasn't trying to be dominant or above anyone. She just needed the cooperation to get along in the class. "If I'm forced to, I will send you to your Master or Mistress," she said seriously. She didn't want to, but she couldn't say that. Some of the joking soldiers looked like they wanted to pull something off on her, and she wouldn't stand for it. "No talking while someone else is, and if you have something to say, you will raise your hand." Amazingly, she was able to make her voice very clear and firm. Perhaps she'd changed more than she thought from the Arches...

"This is a class on Holidays all over the world," she explained. "We'll not just be studying ones from your homeland, though you are welcome to elaborate on those if you wish." She smiled, looking at her students once again. "Can anyone tell me what their favorite holiday is, and what is done to celebrate that holiday?" she asked. She was meaning for the class to be somewhat fun, though she didn't want it to get out of hand. She added as an after thought, "If you wish, you may take notes. If not, that's fine as well."

Ildeus had been running laps in the practice yard because he had disagreed in a most unkind way with a Youngling who thought himself superior to Ildeus. He had completed his third set of five sets of laps and was only slightly winded... well he made sure everyone else saw it that way. The Youngling backed by a Gaidin had given him this task not as a punishment but in the form of an order. Though Ildeus suspected it was, if veiled, the former rather than the latter. Why not send him to the Mistress of Arms? Because they wanted to see him suffer and let him know his place. Ildeus was halfway through the fourth set when the Youngling signaled him to stop; in a mock change of heart he told Ildeus he didn’t have to run anymore. The Youngling had decided he should go and attend a class with the initiates. Ildeus guessed that whatever class he ended up in would have a disagreeable teacher and Ildeus would find himself in a lot more trouble. Ildeus just smiled at the Youngling who smiled back with equal falsity. Ildeus made his way to a stone washbasin and rid himself of the dust, grime, and sweat of the day. A clean albeit mildly wet Recruit found his way into the classroom. He followed in with a few Soldiers not giving them a second glance or even a first. Ignoring the others he took his seat in the front and off to the left not bothering to hide himself in the back. Ildeus was somewhat perturbed to find that the teacher was a girl of whom he had prior acquaintance. His feelings were mixed, many of them not so good. "Good morning, My name is Marian, and as you can tell, I'm only Accepted, but I expect the respect as a teacher and a fellow initiate here." She was an Accepted already?! She certainly had been busy. "If I'm forced to, I will send you to your Master or Mistress. No talking while someone else is, and if you have something to say, you will raise your hand." Ildeus nodded to himself, she had changed, and she was indeed different. Well it meant little and had nothing to do with him. "This is a class on Holidays all over the world. We'll not just be studying ones from your homeland, though you are welcome to elaborate on those if you wish. Can anyone tell me what their favorite holiday is, and what is done to celebrate that holiday?" If you wish, you may take notes. If not, that's fine as well." Ildeus listened and kept his outward appearance placid; time enough for what was to come.

Kathera jogged down the hall breath ragged. She did not want to miss the class given by her best friend. Even if she would have to curtsie, it just wasn't something you missed. Exspecially when they need moral support, she thought wirely, turning the hall. Almost running into another novice, she gave a quick apology before continuing. Even though it wasn't good to run with Aes Sedai around, Kathera had to risk it. She wasn't putting Marian down. As she entered the right hall, the novice slowed her pace. She had gotten lost a few times on the way over, her main reason for being late. Walking in as Marian was starting, Kathera sighed, hoping her friend would forgive her. Bobbing a very tiny,-why should I cutrsie to you?- kind of curtsie, Kathera raised an eyebrown comicaly at her friend. Now that Marian was Accepted and Kathera had to curtsie, one had to take it in a comical step. It was hard for Marian to see her freinds defering to her. Taking a seat, she quickly listened in on what everyone was saying.

Holidays... None really came to mind. Kathera didn't really celebrate any, so lshe wasn't going to raise her hand and volinteer fake information. Exspecialy in her best friend's first class. Deciding to look considerate, Kathera made a comical sorry-I'm-late face at Marian and then stopped being comical. The other novices, and that reqruit would be a bit suspicous about it, and Kathera didn't want to be sent to Cayana Sedai's office because Marian couldn't lose superity over the group. THat wouldn't be very best friend-like. Staring blankly at the wall, the novice tried to remeber some holidays, and nothing came to mind. Hoping Marian would forgive her for not putting in some information, Kathera made a mental note to research it after the class. And maybe talking to Marian a bit. They didn't get to talk often now. Glancing over at the reqruit, the novice could only shake her head in wonder. He looked like he wanted to bite someone's head off.

Shaya was impressed; Marian handled herself beautifully against this group of rowdy Soldiers and giggly novices. It made her realise just how much her friend had grown since they first met in the library. She could see that the Accepted’s words made an impression on the rest of the class as well, for they all settled down quickly. Marian didn’t waste much time as soon as everyone quieted down and came straight to the point. Shaya pondered over the question, there were various festivals that were celebrated in various places, but she could not pick a favourite. When she was still on the streets trying to get by on a few coins she could lift here and there, street festivals had been a golden opportunity for any pickpocket.

At times like these, people were in a good mood and it was easy to go unnoticed in a big, loud and drunken crowd. She thought that any festival that involved wearing masks was probably her favourite; she had always liked wearing masks. Looking around the class, she decided not to be the first to speak up, unless it looked like Marian was struggling to get feedback. Answering this particular question would also mean that she would have to lie again about where she was from, which she’d rather avoid. She wondered if all the different cultures had similar festivals, based on the changing of the seasons or bringing in the harvest. Most festivals had a religious basis for people to worship their gods and make sacrifices to get a good harvest.

Radgar had been ordered by an Ashaman to attend a class. He didn't like the idea of taking classes but what must be done must be done. He picked up a small note book and a pencil and made his way to the class rooms. He found the right one and entered just in time to hear the accepted start her class. "This is a class on Holidays all over the world," she explained. "We'll not just be studying ones from your homeland, though you are welcome to elaborate on those if you wish." Radgar nodded his head and walked to the nearest seat. Sitting down he studied everyone in the room. "Can anyone tell me what their favorite holiday is, and what is done to celebrate that holiday?" he continued on. Radgar paused in thought going over all the holidays he's seen in his life, but couldn't really pick one above anyother so he stayed quiet. He didn't know anyone in the room except for the one soldier Edeleas No wait I believe he was raised recently he thought to himself as he looked over at the boy. Shaking his head he moved his sights to the next person until he had studied everyone.

Miakoda heard what Accepeted Marian had said to her before everyone started to enter the class room. She gave her a warm smile. She didn't know her that well, but with the time that she had talked to her, she was a very bright and friendly person, and Miakoda knew that she would give a great class. She was happy enough that she was the first one in the class, up front and ready to take notes on everything. She was becoming a brown more and more by the day. A smile went around her lips and she tried to pull them off she didn't want to look like she was dreaming of some guy in the pratice yards.

After there was a few more people in the class room Accepted Marian stood up cleared her self and started to speak. There was a couple of novice gigglings and some soilders like they were going to give her a hard time. She didn't know what she would do if that was to happen. She wanted her first class not to be to terbbile easy, but a good one with out so much crap that could go on. If they did try to pull something Miakoda would think of something to help her. After the words I'll send you to the Master or Mistress if I have to the room went quite. Maikoda smiled again about that. She loved a quite class room where she could put all of of her attiton on the teacher in front of her.

Accepeted Marian had asked the class room if they had any faviort holildays. No one really said anything and a few of them slipped in late, so they most lilky didn't hear anything. Miakoda tried really hard to think of any that she really cared for. It was hard for her family to through any kind of party for anything cause they were so poor. But they had always made a good time for themselves and that was all that really matter to her. But before taking the class she was able to stop in the libary and do some reading on other kind of holildays. A time to Celebrate was something that she did like to do. She raised her hand and when a nod came from her head she stood up a bit shy at first than shook her head. This is foolish I am here to learn and this girl is nice she can't be that bad if you get somthing wrong standing up a bit faster now she fixed her dress and pushed some of her hair out of her face and looked at her teacher not in the eyes but at her, so she knew that she was talking to her, and said. " I would have to say that my favioty one would have to be the "Beltane' And what my family did in the morning was we would Gather and exchange of Flowers and Greens. Decorating homes, barns, and other buildings with Green budding branches, including Hawthorn. Making and wearing of garland wreaths of Flowers and/or Greens. Beltane Baskets were given or placed secretly on doorsteps to friends, shut-ins, lovers, others. Beltane Bowl was punch (wine or non-alcoholic) made of Sweet Woodruff blossoms. Durring the day we would dance around a poll or a tree around our house with different coloured fabrics. And at night we would have are out Beltane Fire, but there was many more around the street. " Once she was done with everything that she had to say. Miakoda nodded her head. She was happy with the way that she had handle that and took her seat waiting to see what would happen next.

Marian almost blinked in surprise as the recruit entered. She remembered him from her novice years. Light, that had been an incident. Nevertheless, she was inclined to treat him as one of her students, just like all the others. She had certainly changed. Perhaps he had as well... She probably would speak to him personally anyway. She was the teacher, and he was here as a student, perhaps on a punishment, for his attitude didn't seem to be one that would jump to take a class on Holidays, at least from what she remembered.

Next, Kathera entered, one of Marian's close friends. She bobbed a curtsy that seemed almost sarcastic and took a seat. Marian shot her friend a look, communicating her thoughts - A second later and I'd have to send you to the Mistress of Novices. She was sure that Kathera got in enough trouble without Marian sending her there, and she hoped that she wouldn't be inclined to do so. She was, however, obligated to say, "A little earlier next time, perhaps?" That was all she said though, and she went on like it had never happened. Hopefully Kathera would forgive her that remark.

Another soldier entered, one that Marian did not know, but other than that, she had her class. She looked upon her students and waited still for an answer, until finally, Miakoda took the initiative to speak. She stood up and began. "I would have to say that my favioty one would have to be the 'Beltane' And what my family did in the morning was we would Gather and exchange of Flowers and Greens. Decorating homes, barns, and other buildings with Green budding branches, including Hawthorn. Making and wearing of garland wreaths of Flowers and/or Greens. Durring the day we would dance around a poll or a tree around our house with different coloured fabrics. And at night we would have are out Beltane Fire, but there was many more around the street." Marian nodded and gave her a smile as Miakoda sat back down.

"Let us start with Bel Tine then," she said. "Bel Tine is the first day of spring, determined within each village or city," she explained. "It follows Winternight, which is the last day of winter." She looked at her students. "How many of you celebrate Bel Tine?" she asked. A few raised their hands. Marian waited until they lowered their hands. Then she spoke again. "My celebration was much like Miakoda's. Anyone have other customs or traditions?" A few more elaborated on this idea before she went on.

"Let us discuss the Feast of Lights. We recently celebrated this at the Towers, so most of you will be acquainted with it," she said. "Does anyone know the alternate name of the Feast of the Lights? Or perhaps when it takes place?"

Kathera hid a smile as Marian addressed her. I won't be late again, I promise, was all she could think before settling into the lesson. Considering the information the Accepted just let loose, the novice carefully wrote some of it down. I really need to visit the library and study some of this. I can't believe I don't know this! As her friend asked a question, the novice tried to remeber what it was. Alternate name for the Feast of Lights? Now that she thought about it, Kathera had to relieze her family hadn't celebrated any holidays while she lived with them. Perhaps something religous? Shaking her head at her own ignorance, the red-haired girl refocused on the lesson. There was knowledge to grab, here, and she wanted to absorb every scrap of it. That her only friend was the one teaching didn't really bother her that much, Marian was Accepted now. Though she was still her friend, Marian had to many things to do to talk with a novice often. Even if that novice was her friend.

Thinking over what Miakada had said, Kathera carefully wrote some of it down. Her handwriting was getting better, but it still was rather sloppy. A Bel Tine fire? Kathera could only shake her head in wonder. HEr family definatly didn't celebrate anything. Well, at least she knew what Bel Tine is, now. Not knowing gnawed on her, and she scimed what she had writen once again. None of it clued her as to what the Feast of Lights could also be name. Scratching an itch on her arm, Kathera considered. Why would it have two names in the first place? Something religous, again? The idea of having two names for one holiday still puzzling her, Kathera glanced up at Marian, hoping for some sort of clue on her friends face. Pulling her gaze away, Kathera once again glanced down at her paper, pen held ready.
