Radgar sat on his bed looking up at the ceiling he had nothing to do this afternoon. Looking around the room he got up and started walking. He walked through the Black tower until he made it out side. Following the paths that lead to the White he then walked the hallways until he made it up to the Mistress of Novices study. Upon seeing the massive line up he turned around and walked back out. Now what? he though to himself as he stood in the court yard at the main entrance to the White Tower. He looked off towards the city and decided that would be his best bet for entertainment. Making his way to the black tower and to his room he found the grey cloak he had used to get out the first time and masked his ability to channel. Walking out of the Tower as casually as a visitor would he made his way into the city. He wasn’t really pushed but he followed the flow of people until he found a street that seemed pretty dead. He noticed a blacksmiths shop and made his way into it. He looked at the wonderfully crafted swords, knifes and Armour I will have to come back here when I get more coin. he decided as he walked out of the shop. It took him a while to walk a few blocks but he managed to find an Inn to have a meal. Walking in he sat down and ordered not really paying attention to anyone in the building. Out of the Corner of his eye he saw a figure walk into the building. The hole room seemed to dim and quiet down as the man walked towards Radgar. “Bloody Hell” Radgar whispered as he realized who it was. Grabbing a hold of the power he filled himself until the sweet river of fire and ice hurt as it flowed through him. Isha was holding onto the power but only long enough to weave a ward around the table that Radgar had been sitting at before tying off the weave and letting the power go. “What are you doing here Isha!” he said quietly when the man stopped feet away from Radgar. He was surprised to find that Isha was not holding onto the power and wondered why. Radgar looked at the man, it had been a long time since the last time he saw him. The mans black hair had turned white and was cut short, the dark brown almost leather skin of the ancient hardened his face. The man was the same height and build as Radgar but he was immensely stronger in the power, He was as strong if not stronger than the fool that sat at the head of the Black Tower. Radgar looked into the mans cold black eyes, his fear only hidden by the anger he felt at having been found. “TELL ME!” Radgar demanded. Isha only stood there and looked at him with a small smile before taking a seat opposite the one Radgar had been in. “Sit boy” the vile man said to him, “I am not here to kill you, I am here to talk.” Radgar didn’t believe him and stood and looked down at the man. “So be it, stand if you like.” “What is there to talk about?” Radgar ignored the mans last statement but still stood. “There is plenty to talk about. Like how you are going to leave the Tower and join me again.” Isha said slowly. “And what if I refuse?” Radgar said in reply, his anger building. “Then you will be destroyed along with those you care about.” Isha said coldly. Those I care about? Does he know about Cayana. Radgar thought staring into the mans eyes. “You have five minutes to decide.” Isha continued. Radgar continued to look at him. He already knew his answer and so did Isha he suspected. blood and bloody ashes. Radgar thought as he looked past Isha and at the door. “Try it!” Isha said, Radgar wove fire and air and shot a fire bolt at Isha’s head as he bolted for the door. Luckily it wasn’t too far away and he was out into the crowd. “RADGAR!” he heard the man scream behind him but he ignored it and kept running. He felt Isha grab onto his power and let go of his own, Masking his ability to channel he kept running. ------------ “RADGAR” he screamed as he dodged the fire bolt and turned to see the boy running out of the building. FOOL BOY! He thought and bolted after him. He embraced the power and filled himself with its sweet nectar. Running after the boy he could feel him ahead of him and kept running. This has gone on long enough, he will die. Suddenly he didn’t feel him anymore, “BLOOD and Bloody ashes” He yelled as he remembered Radgar could mask the glow. He had lost Radgar, this angered him greatly but he didn’t stop running towards the Towers, if he didn’t find him in the streets he’d kill him in the Tower. ---------- Radgar Kept running as fast as he could. He couldn’t beleive he did what he had done and gotten away with it as long as he had. Knowing his mentor he was probably having a fit at loosing him. Radgar was to angry and frightened to think so he took the shortest route back to the tower. As he ran he looked back periodically making sure that Isha wasn’t to close. He looked back again but couldn’t see anything, when he looked forward his eyes went wide as he pummeled into a small woman. They both went crashing to the ground, Radgar was up in a flash and looked back to make sure he had time. “Are you ok?” He asked as he leaned down to help her up still looking for Isha. When he finally did look at the woman he could tell immediately that it was an Aes Sedai, though he had never seen her before she looked somewhat familiar. His mind was racing to fast for him to register that the woman he had slammed into was the Amyrlin Seat herself. -------------- Isha kept running hoping to catch Radgar before he made it to the towers. It would make his life so much easier if he didn’t have to infiltrate the towers. He caught a glimpse of a grey cloak in front of him and knew it had to be Radgar. Good good I’ll get him yet. The people in the streets made it hard to run and looking ahead was almost impossible. Looking ahead a small clearing opened and he stopped dead in his tracks. There was Radgar helping up a woman from the ground. I must have the Great Lords own luck today he thought almost giggling. Hiding in the corner of an ally he looked out and watched. “Aes Sedai” he hissed in a whisper. Looking at her he immediately realized who that fool of a boy had run into. Rubbing his hands together greedily he laughed quietly. “This day only gets better” He said as watched the clearing fill up again with people. He would just have to wait for a better shot I will make this clean yet very painful for them both |

Sapphira smiled as she walked through the Tower grounds, she had taken the day off, and that morning had concidered making a trip of the day and going somewhere far off, but had changed her mind. One day was not enough, even though the travel took no time at all, rather she decided to just stay in Tar Valon today, and enjoy her home. It was really an amazing place, something Sapphira could never fail to be awed by, when she was not doing paperwork for the Tower, she really did love her life in Tar Valon. She looked at the Tower walls, and made a decision, this was not a day to be spent in the Tower, it was a day for the city. It was still winter, though not the heart of it anymore, the cold did not bother Sapphira, but it did make the city a bit less crowded. Not that anything could make Tar Valon anything less than packed. She turned her steps toward the nearest gate in the Tower walls, and could not suppress a small grin at the thought of what Rialt would think if he found out about her leaving the Tower on her own. That thought soon led her to her last visit to the city, a less plesant thought, not the first time in her life that the Power had been helpless to her, but the first time in quite a while. She sighed, her past two visits to the city had been less than wonderful, why did she continue to try? Sapphira shook her head and pushed those thoughts away, they would only ruin her day, this one would be better, she was sure. And only partly because she knew it could not be much worse. Sapphira nodded at the guards as she stepped through the gates into the swirling crowds of Tar Valon life. She had a great respect for the men and women who dedicated their lives to the Towers even though they could not channel, to be able to channel and come to the Tower- very likely forced -was one thing, but to come and train and then stay here was completely different. How could she not respect someone willing to do that? She had left her stole in her office this morning, she never wore it into the city because of the attention it drew, both to those who would do her harm, and to those who would just love to tell their grandchildren they touched the Amyrlin Seat. Before her appointment, she had held a view much like theirs, even as Aes Sedai, the Amyrlin was someone lofty, second only to the Creator in power. Now that she held the position herself, she felt little different than she always had, of course now she had a different thought process on many things, and had to make herself acceptable to the masses, but how could people want only to get a glimpse of her? What made her any more special than any other woman? She suppressed a smile as she thought of the answer, she was the Amyrlin Seat, that was it, that was all that was required. She knew she was very powerful, at first it had been one of her main focuses, but now actually thinking about it was rather strange. She wandered through the city, for the most part letting the crowd take her where it would. Those new to the city were easily picked out, for they were the only ones who bowed at every ageless face they met, and tried to stay out of their way. Sapphira smiled at one young man who seemed to attract Aes Sedai and Asha'man, it seemed whichever way he turned for as long as Sapphira could see him, he was met with a channeler. Of course, Sapphira made very sure not to be seen by any of the Tower's inhabitants, any one of them would have recognized her, and Sapphira was sure she saw recognition in the faces of a few she passed. She did not let it bother her though, and pretended she did not understand their slightly surprised expressions, hoping they would forget what they saw. Sapphira stopped and looked over a few stands, and wandered in and out of the shops of Tar Valon, buying only a few things. She was not out today to shop, just for a walk, though shopping always became involved in her walks out of the Tower. She turned away from a jewler's stand, and was just about to cross the street to a bookshop, when she was bowled into by a man she did not know. He quickly helped her up, and asked her whether she was alright, but he seemed preoccupied. For several moments he did not look at her, only looked around the streets, as if for someone following him. Finally, he did look at her, and immediately his face registered that he recognized her as Aes Sedai. Before she answered his question, Sapphira looked the man over. He was wearing a fairly heavy gray cloak, suitable for the time of year, but below that, Sapphira could just see the collar of what she recognized as the uniform of the Black Tower's initiates, no one could be in the Tower as long as she had and not know just what they looked like. "I am alright," she said, her voice cool and a bit challenging. "But you, young man, need to learn to watch where you are going. Wherever it is you are headed, I am sure you needn't run through the streets of the city. Not only do you run the risk of hitting someone, if anyone recognizes your uniform, you do not improve the reputation of the Towers. What is your name?" She waited for him to answer, her tone of voice making it clear that he was not to get away with this without adequate punishment. Sapphira could not know without seeing his collar whether he was Dedcated and allowed in the city or not, but no matter what, he had run into an Aes Sedai- not to mention the Amyrlin Seat -and had not been upholding the name of the Towers. Of course, most even of Tar Valon's lifelong residents did not recognize the uniforms of the initiates of the Towers, so it was unlikely he would be recognized as soldier or Dedicated. Sapphira assumed that he was Dedicated, few soldiers would be daring- or foolish, as she saw it -enough to sneak into the city, especially if they were going to be so obvious about it as this young man was. She dusted off her dress and adjusted her skirts back to their original positions while she waited for him to answer. She wondered whether he would try to excuse himself, and if he did, what sort of excuse would he make? She also wondered vaguely whether at the moment she would prefer to hear the general excuses, or a completely honest answer, she would find out in a few moments. |

What is your name?" Radgar didn't really pay attention as much as he should have. His attention was captured by Isha, where ever he is, "I'm Radgar Al'Exander, Aes Sedai" he said with half his mind. Damn, she's only going to slow me down. He thought as he finally looked down at her. Her long black hair was a mess caused by the fall, she was straightening out her dress when he finally realized who she was. "Light" he said taking a jump back. The Amyrlin Seat, he thought, Why does the light hate me so much this day? he knew the answer to that but he refused to accept it. "I think we should move, Mother?" he whispered 'Mother' and continued on as normal, "I...we're not safe here." She didn't seem at all surprised by his answer, which startled him more than he would liked to have admitted. "Then what are we waiting for?" She said coolly as she started to walk towards the Tower. He quickly followed but grabbed her arm gently and tugged her to go faster. He knew it was stupid of him to do so, but getting punished would be far better than having her be killed because of him "We must go Faster." He said to her. Isha watched them talk to each other for a moment before they started off towards the tower. "No you don't!" He said quietly to himself and step out of the ally. He had wasted enough time watching them, it was now time to strike. His face was serious as it usually always was as he walked quickly towards them. Grabbing onto the Power he let it fill him, he knew Radgar and any other male Channeler would feel him but he didn't care. "RADGAR!" He yelled and the boy stopped and squared off with him. He watched his mouth move as he said something to the Amyrlin that she didn't like to hear. He himself now held the power, Isha knew that he held as much as he could but that was nothing beside Isha. He launched a fire ball towards Radgar but it was blocked by a shield of air. They passed fire balls back and forth now slicing each others weaves as they got close. He heard Radgar yell for the woman to run, Isha wove air and tied it around her ankles. Radgar cut the weave and again told her to run. "This is getting old fast Radgar." He said as he started walking towards the boy. "You failed me now you must die along with her." He pointed towards Sapphira. "Radgar" He heard someone scream his name behind him knowing full well who it was he turned and eyed the man. "Mother keep going I have business to attend to." He said coldly looking at Isha. He could feel her standing beside him not moving. Damn stubborn fool woman The people in the streets seemed to make a large bubble avoiding what was about to happen. They could feel the tension between the two men and didn't want to be anywhere near them when it snapped. Radgar drew on all the power he could the sweet river stinging him as he held onto to it, fighting to keep control. Isha threw a fire ball at him but he blocked it easy enough. It was like child's play, each of them toying with each other a little before actually coming to blows. They passed fire balls back and forth for a time he knew that if this lasted any longer Asha'man would be pouring into the city to see what was going on. "This is getting old fast Radgar." He said as he started walking forward, "You failed me now you must die along with her." "Your fight is with me Isha." He stated loudly, "Not her, Leave her be." "Oh you're wrong Radgar and you know it. My fight has always been with her and the likes of her." Isha replied slowly. Radgar shook his head and glanced at the woman. She had grasped ahold of the Power long ago, he had been to busy fighting off Isha to feel it. "If you are going to insist on staying link with me!" Radgar could feel Isha weaving and didn't have the time to block it. A wall of air struck him and threw him back, he managed to hold onto the power though as he hit the ground hard. "LINK WITH ME!" he demanded. |

Sapphira waited for the man to answer, he still appeared preoccupied. He answered with his name, and said that they should move, as they were unsafe where they were. Sapphira wondered why they were unsafe, and why under the Light was her third trip into the city being ruined? She was unsurprised though, her next trip she would have to make sure she went much farther away. She only asked the young man why they were still standing there, and made off in the direction of the Tower. He ran up beside her, and tugged on her arm, and said that they must go faster. Sapphira suppressed a sigh and moved a bit faster. Soon, though, the young man stopped, turned around, and told her to keep going, that he had something that needed doing, without taking his eyes off of a man who was looking at him equally as intensely. She did not move, who was a Black Tower initiate- or anyone else in the world, for that matter -to tell her what to do? He seemed a bit agitated by that, but most of his attention was on the man standing across from him. She embraced saidar, she could not know whether or not the two men were using the Power, but for herself it was a way of making sure that she was safe. She pushed the thought down that she was not always safe with the Power, along with the memory of her last visit to the city. The men concentrated on each other, and before long fireballs began flying between them. Sapphira was shocked, one of the Black Tower initiates could do that? She knew that the Asha'man were trained as soldiers, but few of the Dedicated and no soldiers knew of such a weapon, she was sure. Fireballs were not a difficult weapon, but to do as much as he was apparently doing, and still have such strong fireballs was not something most initiates could do. She was also sure that this man was no Asha'man. She tucked those thoughts away, and put her attention back on what was happening. Sapphira drew more on saidar as the called Isha by her inadvertent attacker said that it was time for both of them to die. She felt the air around her ankles solidify, connecting her to the ground, and removing any chance she had at escaping. He called the young man who had run into her Radgar, who said that Isha's fight was not with Sapphira. Before she had a chance to hear much more than that, before Radgar turned and shouted at her to link with him. She recognized that this was no situation to give the man a lesson in ettiquette when dealing with Aes Sedai, and did as the young man so eloquently requested. She immediately passed the control over to him, she could feel saidin running through her back to him now, and see what he did, but that did not give her the ability to see what Isha did, and how could she counter something she could not see? She drew on saidar to her full potential, which was quite a bit, stronger than any other sister she could think of just then. Surely her strength added to whatever this young man posessed would be enough to get them out of this, no matter how strong Isha was. She willed the man to use whatever odd knowledge he had, wherever he had gotten it, to defeat their sudden attacker. She sent up a quick prayer to the Creator for safety during her second attack in the city. She had felt much better when she had Sidivin to protect her though, Asha'man were trained for sudden attacks. True, this man was training to become Asha'man, but she did not know how far along he was, or what he knew. Sapphira watched the two intently, the street had gone from a bubble around the three of them to completely empty quickly. No one wanted to be around when there was a showdown between channelers, especially when it involved by the Power. She thought fleetingly of the terrible affect this would have on the reputation of the Towers- especially the Black, but the White as well because it involved channelers, and because there was clearly an Aes Sedai involved. She had been worried about what people would think of a running initiate, though now she would much prefer that over what was happening now. The Creator did have a sense of humor, Sapphira had learned that over the years, and apparently he enjoyed Sapphira's reactions to his jokes. She wished fervently that he would choose someone else for the next one, but for now, she had other things to think about. Like getting back to the Tower alive, and preferably uninjured. She looked from one man to the other, trying to work out why this Isha man had chosen to attack an initiate of the Tower. He was no one who resided in the Tower, Sapphira was sure, he looked far too old for that, unless he was Asha'man, in which case Sapphira was sure she would recognize him. No, he was some renegade channeler who had escaped the notice of the recruiters. Certainly a Darkfriend, who else would dare? Sapphira had dealt with Darkfriends before, though few without Zekieal's assistance, and she found herself wishing for his presence now, he was a welcome comfort in such situations, and certainly he would be able to deal with this attacker. |

Radgar laid on the ground watching Isha when he suddenly felt Saidar flowing beside Saidin. Realizing that she had linked with him and he was in control of it he immediately started to channel it. He had never been linked to a woman before so had no clue how difficult it would be to use Saidar. He had figured it would be like Saidin, fighting for control every second you channeled, but it was different every time he tried to fight it it would slip through his fingers and he would fail to grasp it. She could see he was getting frustrated with it and yelled at him to surrender to it. How do I do that? he thought to himself as he felt Isha weave something, he was more concentrated on how to give in to saidar and fight Saidin than anything. It was probably stupid of him to not pay more attention to Isha but if he didn't get this right they would both die. Looking up into Isha's eyes he felt what was coming and just had time to jump out of the way as fire shot out of the ground where he had been laying. "LIGHT!" he screamed as his arm was seared. "Light?" Isha asked, "When did you start believing in that?" he laughed menacingly when he finished. He didn't reply to Isha he only concentrated on fighting saidin while trying to surrender to saidar. Finally getting it right he started weaving spirit together forming a block which he threw at Isha. Isha seen it coming and blocked it before sending his own weave at him. It went back and forth for a moment the weaves getting more complex and harder for Radgar to block. Bloody... his thoughts were interrupted as a weave grazed his shoulder tearing the fabric and some flesh apart. He screamed as the pain shot through him. Not only had his shoulder been cut apart somehow a large portion of flesh around it had been seared. He almost lost hold of the power as he fell to his knees. Looking up at Isha with all the defiance he could muster he yelled for the man to finish him but to let the Aes Sedai go. Although he knew that he would not let her go but thought that it didn't hurt to try. He stood up quickly but got dizzy and almost fell, staying on his feet he watched Isha start to walk towards him. Although he held onto the power, as he stood with his shoulder ripped apart, he realized that he would not be able to channel to well. He thought about passing the control off to the Aes Sedai and did so. Isha looked over at Sapphira and grinned at her wickedly. "I dare you to try something woman." He said loudly his voice booming off the walls of the buildings surrounding them. He watched as she starting weaving something, more adept at fighting saidin than he thought she would be. She has probably done this before, he thought, though probably in a better situation. He almost laughed. Isha was still walking towards him slowly, "Radgar, Radgar, Radgar, You had your chance to live as you did before. Now you will die as you now live." Isha said looking into his eyes, "But first," he continued, "To deal with this pesky Amyrlin." He turned to her and let forth a torrent of fire. Radgar sat back hoping that she could retaliate, he didn't jump forward incase she would do just that. "Isha you light forsaken corpse." He yelled trying to distract the man but it wasn't happening. Suddenly the fire stopped, Isha was looking off in the direction of the towers. what in the light? he thought never knowing Isha to stop so easily. "Radgar, Sapphira," He said their names slowly, "I will have to kill you both another day." He and Sapphira were shocked at how casually he said that, and how suddenly it had come up to react to the pause. He watched Isha weave a gateway and quickly jump into it. He looked over at Sapphira and realized that she was as shocked as he was. "Are you ok?" He asked her for the second time that day. Just as he finished speaking he realized that other gateways had opened. He watched Asha'man and a few Aes Sedai pile out of them, he was blocked right away and glared at them man doing it. He and the Amyrlin were soon surrounded by men and women trying to get the story straight, they being far more polite to her than him. He started laughing as he lifted his arm and felt the wound to his other shoulder. "Thank the light I can be healed, this would've left a nasty scare." He said quietly to himself ignoring the questions. "BLASTED ASHA'MAN" he screamed as he walked out of the gateway. "Why can't they let me kill a flippen Soldier and their Amyrlin for once." He realized how that sounded and started laughing. "Of course they wouldn't just let me kill them" he said correcting himself, "I'll have to find a better way to do it." Isha wasn't the happiest of men as he stood on top of Dragonmount looking down at TarValon. The icy cold at the top of the mountain did not bother him he felt none of it. He wove another gateway into existence and walked threw it. He entered into a large room with a desk full of papers at one end and book shelves lining the walls. "Norm!" he yelled as he walked to wards the door. Walking out into the hall way of the small house he found the man he was looking for in the kitchen. He looked at the short man who's short brown hair framed his face. "Norm!" he said again and the man jumped turning around in the air. "Master!" he said surprised bowing deeply. "I did not know you were coming, I'm sorry for not being ready." "That is ok Norm, I have a Job for you and the boys." Isha said his voice carrying his anger at not having killed the two before. He started explaining about Radgar, he didn't tell them who he was, only that he was a strong soldier than needed to die. Norm understood and would get to it soon. "With in the next week Norm. Do not disappoint me." Isha turned around and again opened a gateway. He walked out of the house and into other business. |

Sapphira watched Radgar trying to channel both saidar and saidin, trying to treat saidar the same way he did the male half of the Power, and, as she knew it would, it was not responding to him. He nearly lost it several times, and Sapphira could feel herself growing more frustrated by the second. "Surrender to it!" she shouted at him, but before he could do so, he jumped aside as a fountain of fire shot up from where he had been, catching his arm as he moved. He swore, and Isha, almost amusedly, asked him when he started believing in the Light. Sapphira wondered what sort of man had run into her, if their attacker was to be believed, a darkfriend. Sapphira watched as Radgar's shoulder split open, seared, and Radgar fell to his knees. He tried to stand, but did so unsteadily, and Sapphira found herself back in control of the link. She felt her frustration drain away slightly, she knew how to use both saidin and saidar effectively. Isha turned to her, and dared her to try something. She began weaving quickly, thankful that Isha would not be able to see the saidar half of what she was doing. Before she could unleash anything on him, though, he struck first. Sapphira swore, and quickly abandoned the weave she was halfway through, switching it for a simple wall of air that would block his attack. Before anything more could happen though, he stopped, and spoke slowly before jumping through a quickly constructed gateway. Just as the gateway closed, Radgar asked Sapphira whether she was alright, to which she nodded, she had taken no blows as he had. A dozen more gateways opnened, admitting Asha'man and Aes Sedai, all of the women- at least -holding the Power. She let her control of saidin, and the link with Radgar dissipate as she saw a woman weaving a shield for him. She recognized most of the sisters as Greens, not likely to be skilled in Healing. She glanced quickly at the colors on the armbands of the Asha'man, recognizing the gray and yellow of the Black Tower's healers on only one or two. Well, those two were very likely more skilled in Healing than Sapphira was. She watched as one of the men made his way over to Radgar, and took ahold of the man's head. As she watched, his wounds closed, leaving no trace that he had been hurt. Already the company of channelers had become noisy, making it difficult for Sapphira, and probably anyone else, to think. She wove quickly and spoke, her voice amplified by the Power, "Quiet!" Immediate silence fell among the men and women who had arrived, and Sapphira let her weave go. "The boy has been Healed, and there is no more immediate danger. I thank you for your arrival, but now you will all return to the Tower, and try not to spread too many rumors about what has happened today." They all looked a bit surprised, but hid it quickly, and did as she bid, what the Amyrlin said was law after all. After the last gateway had closed, Sapphira wove a ward against the Power without tying it off, and stood thinking. She looked at Radgar, and wondered just what he was, that Isha had said something that made Sapphira suspicious, but if Radgar was allied with the Shadow- as she was sure their attacker had been -then why had he been attacked? Perhaps he was simply planted, so that Sapphira would not think the attack was directed at her, while in truth she may well have been the only one intended to die. From what Sapphira knew of the Dark One and his servants, they generally did not mind sacrificing one of their allies in order to get rid of an enemy. Radgar had seemed genuine in his attacks though, as had Isha. Sapphira walked slowly over to Radgar, carefully untying her ward as she went. "You and I must talk," she said, her voice hard and angry, "come with me." She removed the last few weaves from her ward, and quickly wove a gateway to her office, much faster than walking, and easier to avoid the wondering stares of those who knew something had happened today. She stepped through and waited for him, ready for a questioning such as she had not administrated since assuming the Amyrlin Seat. |

Radgar stood shielded he eyed everyone that stood around trying to look important. "Nice of you to come" He almost told an asha'man that walked by but kept his mouth shut. He was already in enough trouble as it was. He watched an Asha'man walk towards him, wondering what he was all about until he grabbed his head. Radgar convulsed slightly as the weaves of healing struck him stitching his shoulder back together. The only thing left that even indicated an injury was the scarred cloth surrounding a hole. Lifting his arm he stretched it before moving it slowly testing it. Although he knew it was fully healed it took him a second to actually register the fact. The pain still lingered but that was only his imagination, it would soon disappear. "Quiet!" Sapphira said, or voice booming off the walls. As the echo of her voice died down silence once again filled the streets. She started speaking to the Asha'man and Aes Sedai that had arrived to see what was going on, and soon enough they had left through there own gateways leaving Radgar alone with the Amyrlin Seat. "You and I must talk," she said, her voice hard and angry, "come with me." Radgar almost groaned, this was the last thing he wanted to happen. He knew though that he couldn't avoid it. Looking off in the direction of the closest bridge he thought about once again running. No! he thought to himself, I will not leave her here alone. Radgar nodded slowly to the Aes Sedai and followed her through the gateway. The first thing he noticed as he stepped into the office was the large desk with the Amyrlins seat. He looked around the room, everything was fairly ornate and very much Cairhienin. He looked back at the Amrylin he was a little worried about what she would ask him but stayed quiet until she did speak. |

Sapphira let the gateway dissipate as Radgar stepped into her study, and made her way around to the Seat. She sat, silent for several moments, looking the man standing in front of her over, weighing him. She was still curious as to what Isha had meant asking about his believe in the Light, among many other things. There were so many questions, one chasing the next around her head. Where should she start? She had questioned countless Darkfriends years ago with Zekieal, but never had she done so on her own, and it had been years. That was a bit different, as well. Most of those she and Zekieal had questioned were proven Darkfriends, and so Zekieal had had no qualms about using physical force. With one of the Black Tower's initiates- even one she had some reason to suspect -she had to be more tactful, harming one of the soldiers or Dedicated- his cloak still hid just which one he was -was something that not even the Amyrlin dared do. Though the Asha'man do make enough of a habit of it, she thougth disapprovingly. Finally, Sapphira spoke. "What happened today?" she asked first, a simple enough question, but such a broad question left room for a broad answer. She wondered how Radgar would choose to answer, there were many choices, and Sapphira truly hoped that he did not choose to be cheeky and say that they were attacked. Sapphira waited for him to answer, she would allow him all the time he needed to formulate an answer, but if he was innocent, Sapphira could not think that he would need much time to think. Then again, she might have been equally suspicious were he to answer right away, as if he had already come up with the lies he would tell in a situation such as this. She waited patiently, wishing she had a cup of tea to sip. Tea always helped calm her nerves, and after such an attempt on her life, she could use some calming. She was thankful that she had had over a hundred years' practice at keeping a straight, calm face, if she chose, Sapphira could hide her emotions very well. She let herself wonder about just what this young man was, from the very start of this whole ordeal, it had been clear that he was different, and Sapphira wanted to find out just what mae him so. She hoped that it would not be something he had to be punished for, he already had enough of that coming, and Sapphira rather credited him with her continuing life. If he had not told her it was unsafe, Isha surely would have found her, true it had seemed he was after Radgar, but doubtless he would have made a small stop for the Amyrlin Seat. Had she been alone, she would have suddered, much as she hated it, it seemed that Rialt was right, from now on, she would not visit the city without a guard. Though, she decided, if that were the case, she may not see the city again for a long while. |

Radgar watched her walk to her desk and sit down in the large chair. He watched her watching him and wondered what question she would ask to start off with. He had been questioned a number of times, some more violent than others. He stood with his back straight in front of her, tall and proud. His hair was a mess of dirt and blood which he must have gotten on it when he had rolled. She was calm but he could guess that she was full of different emotions. Aes Sedai he thought, Are among the best actors he almost laughed but stayed himself. “What happened today?” she asked him coldly. He blinked at her, such a broad question. Shaking his head he decided to tell her as much of the truth as he could. “I met an old enemy in an Inn, Mother” He laughed coldly, “I guess he didn’t like you that much either.” she looked at him with her cold grey eyes and asked him to explain it farther. Shaking his head he continued on. “I met Isha a number of years ago,” He said speaking the truth, “He trained me a bit in the power,” he continued telling the truth but decided to end it there somewhat, “When I found out he was a dark friend I ran to the black tower. I’m sorry to have brought this problem with me.” His face was hard and cold, he looked back into her eyes meeting her iciness with his own. She could tell he was sad though, his eyes shown it through the ice. He realized that he had probably said the wrong thing connecting himself like that to Isha, but the truth was needed, he would only be caught in his lies eventually. He decided he would tell Cayana the truth about himself after this. He just hoped that she would not hate him for what he had once been. |

Sapphira waited for Radgar to answer, and felt her anger peak a bit as he laughed, sarcastic or not, this was no time for laughter. She waited for him to finish his answer, not surprised that he had had previous training in the Power, but surprised that he had gotten it from their attacker. Radgar said that he left the man's mentorship as soon as he realized Isha was a Darkfriend, but his eyes said that he truly was sorry he had brought this trouble behind him. She did not suspect that he was lying, why would he connect himself with the attacker if he were lying. The best lies are the most believable, she reminded herself, how could he expect her to think he was lying after saying something like that? Radgar, she noticed, did not look as uncomfortable as most would have looked standing there. Light, but she could remember that as Aes Sedai, when she had to stand where he was- and for much less reason -she had been nervous. She wondered how long he had trained under this Isha, and just what he had been taught. How long had it taken him to learn that Isha was a Darkfriend? Of course, these were not questions to be asked yet, she first had to find out a few much broader things. She wondered whether she should be a bit more specific this time, she had a few other broad questions, questions that would be easy to misstep while answering. She decided to try that, and she was quite curious about the answer anyway. "Why did it happen?" she asked, interested in what Radgar would say. True, Radgar had run from the man's training, but certainly that was no reason to try to kill someone. Perhaps he feared that Radgar would reveal his secrets, but surely he saw that what he chose to do today was far worse than having someone tell the Asha'man about a rogue Darkfriend channeler. If that were the case, he may have been able to escape detection, the Asha'man were good at finding people, but it was not impossible to hide from them. Perhaps he and Radgar had some sort of disagreement that brought about Radgar's leaving- something that Isha thought was worthy of killing him over. But, what could possibly have happened? If she could, Sapphira would find out just what it was. She waited for Radgar to answer, wondering what he would say, quite interested in what reason there was behind the attempt on her life today. She wondered what was going on in Radgar's mind, she had thought that many times over the years, but, if she knew that, then there would be no need for questioning. Certainly not a large loss. She had never enjoyed interrogations, anything more than what she was currently doing to Radgar she had always hated. She hated having to cause someone pain in order to get answers out of them, and, even when the answers were gotten, how could one know for certain they were not lying? She pushed those thoughts away, and turned her attention back to Radgar, watching him closely, waiting for an answer. |

“Why did it happen?” She asked him cooling. Radgar thought it obvious ‘we were attacked!’ he would have liked to tell her. But that kind of sarcasm would only get him whipped, especially since he was not only talking to an Aes Sedai but the leader of all Aes Sedai. What does she want to know? he asked himself. Finally deciding that she would like to know what brought on the attacks he thought it over. He couldn’t rightly tell her the truth on this subject so he had to think of a lie, or almost lie. He thought about telling her something silly like having a fling with the mans daughter, but realized that she would easily see though it. bloody blood and ashes he cursed to himself as he thought. Shaking his head he stared into her eyes as she watched him. “Well...” he said slowly, “I think... that he thought that once he started my training that I had signed a contract to follow him into the Shadow. And by coming here to stand in the light, that I broke that contract. He doesn’t take kindly to that.” He watched her reaction to what he told her carefully. It was almost the truth, but not quite enough of it to get him into trouble here. Never thought coming here would be such a hassle he thought to himself and almost laughed, but kept quite before he continued his explanation. “Why did he attack you?” he asked her before answering the question, “That’s a simple enough question to answer, He attacked you because you are the Amyrlin Seat. What Darkfriend wouldn’t jump at the chance to attack you? I guess we both were in the wrong place at the wrong time.” He was really beginning to wonder what was going on in her mind, he really hoped that she had not decided his fate already, though he admitted to himself that he probably deserved what ever she could do to him and more for what he has done in his past. As he thought about it his eyes dropped to the ground and he let out a soft sigh. |

Sapphira waited for Radgar to answer, quite interested in hearing what he had to say. As he spoke, Sapphira could feel her curiosity growing, along with her distrust of him. Sapphira wondered just what posessed Radgar to make him say what he did, he must be completely mad, how could he expect that to get him anywhere but into more trouble? She did not let her thoughts show on her face, she needed to think, to make sure that her next question really counted. She wondered how someone could have thought another perosn signed a contract, how could he make that mistake? Surely Isha would have noticed when Radgar did not appear to be sworn to the Shadow, unless Radgar had been a Darkfriend- in which case, he likely still was. Sapphira looked hard at the man standing before her, trying to decide just which question was the right one. Well, starting at the beginning has always made sense, she thought, there was no use starting at the middle. "He thought you signed a contract?" she asked skeptically. "How is it that you did not, then?" She sincerely hoped that this question would bring satisfactory answers. Hopefully the man would not choose now to run to the safety of the usual lies. Sapphira could not think he had lied yet, surely he would have chosen something better were he lying, especially with his last answer. She admired his courage, and hoped that it did not run out with this question. Sapphira studied him closely, trying to decide just what he had meant by his words. She employed every skill she had as both Aes Sedai and Cairhienin to read between the lines of what he said, and use his body language to guage his emotions. He was a difficult one to read though, and Sapphira wondered just what he was thinking. She waited for him to answer, wondering how he would recover from that misstep, and whether that would prove to be a major one for him. She could hardly see it as being a small mistake, she thought it may change the direction of the whole meeting, now that he had given her something to latch onto, a place to start prying. She had a fingerhold, now Sapphira had to exert her strength to make use of it. She wondered how long it would take her to crack the riddle this man was weaving as he spoke, surely his next answer would bring as many questions as the one he had just given. She hoped that he would redeem himself with this answer, Sapphira never hoped that someone would be a Darkfriend, especially someone in the Towers. She never hoped that she would have to send someone for punishment, but she was certainly not afraid to, if this man standing before her turned out to be a Darkfriend, Sapphira would get any information out of him that she could, and then would turn him over to the Reds for them to drag even more out before he was killed. It would cause no ripples in the Tower's daily life, those who knew this man would be told that he had had a mishap, and would not be seen again, and those who did not know him would never know that anything had happened. The efficiency with which the Tower could kill had once unnerved Sapphira, but over the years she had come to be grateful for it. |

Radgar looked up from the floor and into her eyes once again. He hated her, he hated everything she stood for. What right had she questioning him, why did he even save her? “Bah!” he yelled and grasped saidin. “You are so high and mighty Mother!” He said emphasizing ‘Mother’. He guessed she felt threatened by the look on his face, he felt goose bumps rise all over him and a slight shiver ran through his body. “No you don’t!” he said loudly as he slapped a block onto her. She managed to cut it before it hit her and she sent on back. They went back and forth like this for a few moments before other Aes Sedai barged into the room and shielded him and sealed him in a block of solid air..... He was thinking what he would have done years ago that is not me anymore! he thought to himself raising his eyes to meet hers. He realized that he was getting into trouble more often now that he stood in the light than he had before. It has been a recurring theme in his life recently, trouble that is, and he didn’t really care for it. Trouble follows those who’ve caused it. He thought to himself and nearly laughed again. "He thought you signed a contract?" she said with the skepticism in her voice shining through. "How is it that you did not, then?" Raising his eyebrow he looked at her coldly before he realized how he must look, calming his features he thought about how to answer that. If he continued the way he was going he would probably end up being hung. He didn’t like that idea to much, he preferred his neck un-stretched. He then realized he probably wouldn’t be hung, it would be something more painful and not as public. He eyed the Aes Sedai in front of him for a moment and decided he would try not to be questioned again any time soon, he hated being so close to death, he didn’t find dieing very fun. “That is what I think he thought. I am not him so I do not know what he was thinking. All I know is we nearly got are bottoms fried. I’m surprised we didn’t actually he is extremely powerful.” He eyed her for a second and added, “I bet you think I’m a darkfriend don’t you?” He said coldly really wondering what she thought of him. “I’m not!” |

Sapphira noted the expression with which Radgar regarded her, but it did not last long, he quickly whiped his face smooth. So you are not entirely without intelligence, she thought, waiting to see which direction he would take with his answer. When he did answer, he seemed to undercut his previous answer, the phrase "I think" was something Sapphira always hated to hear, it showed one of two things: the lack of intelligence; or the attempt to get out of trouble, and she was not sure which it was, in this case. As impressed as Sapphira had been with his ability in the Power, Sapphira was rather disappointed with the young man now, she had hoped for better from him. "I know what happened out there, I was there as well," she said, allowing a miniscule amount of her frustration to show through. "And, do not presume to think you know what is going on in my mind, for you have no idea. Now, I ask you again, you said the man thought you signed a contract, you seemed fairly sure of your answer, but now you say 'I think.' I believe you know that that man thought you signed a contract, and you are unwilling to answer me. Now, tell me what contract he thought you signed, and how you managed to not sign it, but make him think so." Her voice was hard, harder than it had been yet, and Sapphira was getting angry. She quickly ran through a novice exercise to calm herself, anger was never a good tool, something she had learned over many years of practice. Sapphira looked him over carefully, trying to gauge what he was feeling and thinking, watching for any sign in his body language that might show discomfort or nerves. Nervous or not, though, Sapphira knew she could get whatever she needed out of him, if only by catching him in his own lies. She was still intrigued, though he was certainly not skilled in this sort of discussion, his display in the street had impressed Sapphira, and she still wanted to get to the bottom of it. She waited for him to answer, wondering what he was thinking. Hopefully he would not try to skirt an answer again, she would not tolerate any more of him telling her that they nearly got killed on the street. Sapphira really did not want to spend her entire day here, she had a day off and still had hopes of spending it outside of her office. She hoped that Radgar would not choose to be difficult, she was willing to take all night, if necessary, though she sincerely hoped that it would not be. She glanced at the clock on her desk, she still had about half of the day to enjoy, hopefully she would be able to enjoy it. Sapphira pushed those thougths away roughly, and put all her attention back on Radgar, he was the reason she was here, and she could let nothing distract her. Questioning was easier when she had Zekieal with her, and when she could give the person she was questioning some incentive to answer- an end to the pain. Neither was the case here though, she would have to be sharper if she wanted to get much out of Radgar. |
