((OOC: To the admins and SMs, I don't know if this in the right place. My apologies if it should be moved. That's right, girls, time again for chores this month... )) Marian yawned and figured that it would be best to get her chores out of the way bright and early in the morning. It would wake her up, and she'd have more time to study later. Today was an Age of the Legends study day, and it would be interesting to pick up where she had left off the last week. It was a topic she was sure Kathera would like, as Kathera was aspiring to be one of the Brown Ajah. Marian smiled to herself as she left her room. She knew what Ajah she would choose now. She'd found her calling in the Gray Ajah, where she could be a voice for those who needed one. Marian Sedai... she thought to herself. Marian almost giggled. It sounded strange. She was in a good mood that day, however tired, and going to the Mistress of Novices office was no problem. She picked up the necessary cleaning items that would be used to clean the lesson hall and the classrooms. Oh, Light, this would be a fun one, and it would surely bring back plenty of memories. She shook her head and began carrying the items down to the hallways where the novices would meet her. She was glad that she was with some of her novice friends when she did chores. They made them much more enjoyable. She sighed and began sweeping the hallway. She'd rather sweep than dust, and the other girls could fill in the jobs as they came. "Some things never change," she muttered to herself. |

"That's enough for today, I believe you had chores today didn't you?" Freyja Sedai asked, and Mika -though a bit reluctant- nodded to the Yellow Sister. Chores... uck.... but even worse... stopping with the class... Today they had done not too much, after all it still was very early, but the sister had wanted to test Mika's ability in less then normal conditions; meaning that she wanted to see if Mika could hang on to Saidar while still half asleep. And Mika was proud to say that she had managed to do so; and even had gotten a bit faster then the last time. So for some time the Aes Sedai and Novice had been sitting in their little room, comfy on a couple of pillows using the One Power... Mika loved those classes. Surely they were hard and she strained herself to work as good as possible in them, asking questions whenever she was bothered by something and trying her utmost best at everything she could. And now she walked down the hallway, she had heard that today she had to clean the hallway and classes... that'll be fun... she mused sarcastically as she found her way to the shed where she needed to get the cleaning equipment and wondered whether there would already be someone this early. She shrugged and went to the classrooms after she'd gotten whatever she needed and curtsied to one of the accepted that was already there. "Good morning Accepted" she said friendly yet polite. "Where should I start?" she asked then as she noticed there was no-one else yet. |

Mika came to join her at chores. Marian had known Mika as a novice, though she supposed that Kathera had been better friends with her. Well, it was only expected - Marian knew both of them to be tricksters. She smiled at the memories of them planning pranks while they did laundry. Light, she almost missed those days. She enjoyed her new privileges as Accepted, but it had been the funniest thing to watch those two plot. Now however, they wouldn't dare to do it, considering Marian was obligated to send them to the Mistress of Novices. At least they hadn't tried her friendship... "Good morning Accepted," said Mika, approaching. She curtsied as well. Since there was no one else there, Marian rolled her eyes. "Mika, you know me well enough to not do that in private," she said gently. She shook her head. Her friends had taken the raising to heart, and sometimes it got on Marian's bad side. Today, however, Marian was in a very good mood. She had been in one for a time, ever since her visit with the Amyrlin Seat, discussing her future. She had grown older and more mature. Smiling, she realized that she had grown to think of the novices as her friends as well as... well, she supposed somewhat the children beneath her, save a few. They looked up to her now, so she figured that was why. She paused in her chores when Mika asked another question. "Where should I start?" asked the novice. Marian shrugged and then she pointed to the supplies she had brought with. "Since you've arrived so promptly, I suppose you recieve a choice of tasks," Marian said with a grin. "You're welcome to take up sweeping with me. If the broom doesn't catch your fancy, the windows need some washing. Otherwise, you can start on the dusting." She went back to sweeping once Mika began her own part. |

Kathera strode down the hall, even smiling when she was forced to drop a curtsie to an Aes Sedai or Accepted. She hated feeling lower than others, but it was something you had to do as a novice, at least at the White Tower. At least both Mika and Alilisa had forgiven her for turning them all in to Cayana Sedai. Kathera had to hope that their punishment wasn't too harsh... maybe they would join her down in the kitchens. If not, she couldn't help but hope that they would get an easier punishment, or at least less time taking. Smiling, as she saw Mika and Marian, Kathera called out a good morning, and grabbed a broom to begin sweeping with Marian. Life wasn't bad in the tower, but it still was hard. There was personal problems, like Marian being a step up from her friends, and the challenge of learning to control the One Power. Plus, the challenge of living through the expeerience. That was hard, as well. Or, at least coming out in one piece was. Grinning at Mika, she swept huridly, sweeping dust onto her white skirt. Dropping the broom, Kathera gave a little yelp and started to dust her skirt off, almost as fast as she had been sweeping. It wouldn't be good to show up in a dirty skirt, but Kathera only sucseded in getting it a lighter gray. "I look like a gray sister." she muttered under her breath, then grinned. "Actually, I don't. I just look like a dust bunny." Hoping she wouldn't get in trouble for getting her skirt dirty, Kathera picked up the broom, glaring at it. Now sweeping slower, she continued to glare at it, aware that she was looking rather silly. |

"Since you've arrived so promptly, I suppose you recieve a choice of tasks," Marian said with a grin. "You're welcome to take up sweeping with me. If the broom doesn't catch your fancy, the windows need some washing. Otherwise, you can start on the dusting." Almost in a reflex, Mika picked up a broom and started sweeping as well, not too far away from the accepted as they talked softly. Things hadindeed changed; there would be a time when the two girls would stand in the halway, and just talk instead of sweeping in the meanwhile, but that was when both of them were novices... Now Marian was an accepte and if they were caught doing something wrong together, Marian would be punished heavyer for not sending the bad novice to the mistress of novices office. there was a form of logic in it... but it made gaps... large gaps... it was weird having to curtsey for a friend, and having to do it all the time just to be sure. But then again, I think it'd be strange for Marian as well... having all her friends behave like that. I wonder if she feels lonely The thought came so sudden and took the novice by surprise that she actually stopped in her tracks and only was shaken awake by Kathera who called out a 'good morning' to the two of them before she started sweeping and joking as well. Mika just kept to herself for now and let the two best friends be together a bit |

Alilisa was not in a good mood at all, but that didnt' matter. She was late for chores again. She siged and opened the door to a classroom and found Mika, Kathera and Marian already there working. She wondered where the other novices were, they seemed to be slacking lately. Alilisa said hello to everyone, and curtsied to Marian, even though she wasn't sure Marian liked having novices curtsy to her. But none the less she did so, she couldn't afford to get into trouble again. Soon she'd be Accepted, or so she hoped. The three girls seemed to be laughing and talking amongst themselves, and at once Alilisa felt lonely. She hardly knew Mika, had talked to Marian before and shared a room with Kathera, but that was about it. Alilisa didn't want to inturupt them so she began washing the windows, she didn't know what else she was supposed to do. Alilisa washed and thought to herself about how much she hated it in the tower and how she wished to go home. She had began changing her mind about becoming an Aes Sedai, what was the use if it was so lonely? |

(ooc I started up a thread in the Mess hall as well, if anyone feels like cleaning some more windows
) Shaya popped her head round the door and sighed with relief when she realised she would not be the only one this time. She was glad to see Marian and Mika and made sure she included Kathera in her greeting as well even though she did not know the novice as well as she knew Mika and Marian. Mika was already attacking the floors with a broom, sending up little clouds of dust that tickled Shaya’s nose. Giving a loud sneeze, she squeezed her nose till the itch had passed and said:” Well, it looks like the dusting in here was long overdue.” She grimaced as she realised how that sounded, since when had she become a woman to give a trolloc’s arse about dust? ”Light, I definitely need to get out more before I end up like the rest of those old sour prunes.” She flashed the other girls a grin and stole a look over her shoulder to make sure an Aes Sedai had not suddenly appeared there to call her down for those words. She walked over to a table and picked up a dusting cloth. After spending hours in the mess hall cleaning those flamin’ windows, she intended to stay as far away from them as she could, if she could possibly manage. “So what do you think we’d be doing now if we couldn’t channel and were all born as rich as the queen of Andor?” She winked as she moved to a set of shelves at the back of the class, standing on tiptoe to wipe the top of them. She wrinkled her nose as the cloth came away almost black and moved to open a window so she could shake it out. |

Naishee strolled through the halls, hurrying to the place the Mistress of Novices had told her to go for the chores. Apparently a few other girls had stopped by, so she would not be alone. The novice kept her eyes on the ground, dropping low curtsies and wincing every time she did. Before Thelak and living on the streets, her mother Sarana had been a wealthy merchant and Naishee had never had to curtsy for anyone. That reminded her off the plain white dress she was wearing. Curse this White Tower and all it's inhabitants.. May the Great Lord of the Dark save me from these hungry fiends.. Light, I wish I could go back to Cairhien. Naishee thought to herself. She had abandoned the Light long ago, and the thought that these nasty Aes Sedai were so cautious about that made her laugh, and there was one right under their noses. A passing brown with an ink smudge on the tip of her nose raised an eyebrow at Naishee, whos laughter cut off and she dipped low and grimaced again. Naishee continued the rest of her walk in silence, clearing her mind of all thoughts except for meeting new girls and choring. Chores! I have to do flaming chores! When mother was still alive.. She thought, then immedietly cut off that train of though upon entering the classroom. There were already many girls in there, some of them sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows already. "G-good morning, " Naishee stammered as she looked at all of them, then curtsied to the Accepted, only identified by the band of color on her dress. She spotted the supplies in the corner then hurriedly picked up a fresh dusting rag and began to circulate around the room. The novice glared at her rag as it blackened, then took the other novice's example of shaking it out the window before continueing her work. |

For quite a while Mika kept sweeping the floor smiling and greeting the other ones who joined their group. Lately she hadn't been bothered by chores too much; somehow that months worth of heavy punishment had managed to change her... and her vieuw on things. Of course she wasn't keep on the chorres, but now they somehow didn't seem to take so utterly long as they had before. and the promise of being able to return to her book 'Timeless Poems' managed to help ease he pain a lot. She'd actually managed to get quite far in that one, and now had gotten down at least the basic structure and grammar. or at least most of it . Suddenly another noice walked in, but this time it wasn't one of the familiar faces, and Mika decided to get to know this new girl and so she switched in her broom for a wet piece of cloth to wash the windows closeby where the other novice was working, carefully watching not to ruin the other girls work. "hey" she said softly with a smile. the girl looked about her age... maybe a year or two even younger. "Welcome to the white prison" she said with a slight grin as the girl didn't look all too happy to be there. "My name's Mika" |

Naishee dusted fiercely at the shelves and items, trying to take out her anger through these horrible chores, but jumped with the other novice spoke. "Hey. Welcome to the White Prison. My name is Mika, " She said, putting on a grin. Naishee grinned back while saying, "Prison indeed.. My name is Naishee." She put on her best friendly smile, hoping the girl wasn't a snooty Aes Sedai pet like most of the other novices were. Atleast, that's how they seemed. Maybe she could even get a few pranks away with this one. Realizing she had stopped her chores, Naishee nearly cursed alloud and set back to taking out her anger on the poor items she was suposed to be carefully dusting. As she moved to an old looking vace, the thing tumbled over on the shelf and hit the floor. "Bloody and bloody ashes," she yelped and jumped back. Almost instantly afterwards, and as an imediet reaction, she embraced the True Source and channeled a simple weave that brought all the pieces back together and made the vase whole again. Naishee sighed, then placed it back on the shelf and moved on. After a moment she stopped dead in her tracks, pure horror painting her face.. She had just realized again that an Accepted was in the room, and had the right to send her to the Mistress of Novices for language and using the power without permission. |

Mika watched the girl sideways as she looked at her, riefly distracted it seemed. Only after a few seconds she seemed to remember that she was supposed to do chores and whirled around, tossing a vase on the ground as she did it. Some heartilly curses left her mouth as he other novice immediately reached for Saidar and patched the vase back together, Mika jsut stared at her with open eyes. The ease with which the girl had reached for saidar, and the weave she'd made... It had taken Mika so long to touch Saidar this easilly and even longer to get that weave down. -well ctually she stillhadn't completely... somehow Mika seemed to be bad at making weaves, however much the Aes Sedai told her how strong she'd be one day.- The new Novice -Naishee she had introduced herself- actually actedas if nothing had happened and Mika glared -just like all the other novices in the room- to Marian. At that moment, Naishee seemed to realise what she'd done as well and Mika could see the girls gaze turn to the accepted as well, pure horror written on her face. Marian turned away quite quickly though. first get the chores done right? Mika said softly, asking Marian in her mind. She stepped down a bit now to put her wet cloth back in the bucket to rince it and softly spoke to the new girl. "Don't worry, Accepted Marian is nice and these girls are trustworthy... you mightnot be too bad off" off course she'd spoken extremely soft so that only the new girl could hear it. "So I assume you're a wilder too.. when did you found out you could channel?" she asked, carefully hiding her suprise at the ease with which the other girl had woven the vase back together. |

Naishee still stared at the Accepted in horror, wondering if she was going to get sent to the Mistress of Novices for a punishment, when Mika spoke. "Don't worry, Accepted Marian is nice and these girls are trustworthy... you might not be too bad off," she said softly, so it only reached Naishee's ears, "So I assume you're a wilder too.. when did you found out you could channel?" She gulped, glancing at the Accepted.. Marian was her name, then lowered her voice for Mika. "I.. guess I am.. I've been channeling for a long time, I just never knew untill a few Aes Sedai found me and revealed the source of my.. tricks to me." Naishee's gaze slid to her black rag, and she hurried to a window to shake out the filth, then realized it was useless. The rag was to dirty to be helped without a good wash, so she went back to the supplies and set the dirty rag down seperately then picked up another rag and returned carefully to her dusting. Naishee's anger has desipated when the vase shattered, and now she was more frightened then she had been angry. Frightened of a woman with a fancy title! She thought incredibly to herself. Sighing, the novice's sudden anger at herself melted away when she realized she had never been punished for anything in her life, and she had a right to be frightened since she did not know what to expect. |

"I look like a gray sister," muttered Kathera. Marian couldn't help but laugh at that. Kathera didn't know it, but Marian had chosen that Ajah for herself now. Marian knew that Kathera was looking towards the Brown Ajah, but she hadn't told anyone really about her choice of Ajahs, save the Amyrlin Seat, who had helped her decide. "Actually, I don't. I just look like a dust bunny." Marian smiled and shook her head as she continued to sweep. "As usual, my friend," she replied, still smiling. Kathera often seemed to dirty herself doing chores, but Marian found it amusing. Things like that didn't matter to Marian, even though she was born the daughter of nobles. She realized that moment that a lot of her past had been slipping away from her. She was different than when she had come to the White Tower, that was for sure. Sighing, she continued to sweep. Seshi... she thought sadly. Her maid had died recently. Poor woman. Marian watched as Alilisa entered the hallways, and she gave her a wave. She had talked to the novice once or twice, but they were not good friends. It was odd to her that the other novices did not go and speak with her. She knew that Alilisa was Kathera's room mate, and it was weird that Kathera would not be friendly. Nevertheless, Alilisa did not seem like she wanted to be bothered, and Marian would respect that, so she continued sweeping. Shaya, another novice, entered and gave Marian a greeting. In response, Marian gave a nod and a smile. She liked Shaya, and she hoped that she would join her soon in being Accepted. Marian couldn't see why she had not already. Shaya had known how to channel before Marian had even started to learn. "Well, it looks like the dusting in here was long overdue," commented Shaya. Marian chuckled. “So what do you think we’d be doing now if we couldn’t channel and were all born as rich as the queen of Andor?” Marian's smile faded slightly at that. She had been born rich enough to carry on a fair life, and she had had the ability to learn to channel, not the spark. She would have been safe without coming to the Tower. Well, the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills... She grimaced at that thought. Light, I'm turning into an Aes Sedai! A new novice entered, once that Marian had not met before. Marian gave her a small smile and continued working. Suddenly, Marian heard something fall and break, followed by a curse from the new novice. Marian grimaced. They'd pick it up... She could feel someone channeling now. Glancing over, she saw the new novice fixing the vase with Saidar. The girl was new, she chided herself. She wasn't going to send her to the Mistress of Novices, just warn her. She turned away quickly. "I saw nothing," she said to all the girls. "I just hope that no one channeled or cursed." Looking over her shoulder, she shot the new novice a small smile. She went back to her work, shaking her head. |
