Naishee rushed through the halls of the White Tower as always, grinding her teeth everytime she had to curtsy to an anyone at all, wishing the could just stick a knife in their back while they weren't looking. She was tempted to make a dagger with saidar often, though she kept pushing the thought down. The novice was really just trying to look like she was on important business, since Aes Sedai who thought they saw a 'child' who didn't look busy enough would send them on some wild task that would take the rest of the day, sometimes week to complete. Naishee growled under her breath and then looked up to see that she was no longer in the halls, but the Tower Grounds. Since it was only her first day, she had the right to look around, so Naishee took the opportunity to explore. After walking around and watching practices for about an hour, Naishee plopped down on a bench, glaring at the walls as if ploting a way out. May the Great Lord have mercy on me, she thought to herself, I'll never get out of this place! The thought put a sour expression on the novice's face. She just dared an Aes Sedai to come up to her and ask why she was looking that way then send her about on some impossible mission, they would surely get a piece of her mind and a taste of her dagger. Naishee wouldn't mind killing someone just to leave the Tower.. Maybe she would get hung, anything was better than this wretched, horrible, disgusting hellhole. |

Asha'man al'Dieb Cha, Lost during the War
|
Edeleas was rubbing his head as he made his way from the training halls. He knew he would never get along with his new mentor, and he wanted the old one back. Only, he wasn't Asha'man yet, so he could not protest. He went to the grounds, looking for a bench where he could sit down and calm his nerves a bit. He was so annoyed he wanted to snap at something. But that had never been his way; he did not siphon off his resentment to others. He found a bench and sat down on it. And then he gave a start as he heard a snarl; he looked and saw that the bench already had an occupant. Slowly, he stood up and bowed politely to the Novice. "I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." He made to go find another bench where he could be alone. |

Naishee watched the Dedicated wonder through the grounds absently, then sit at her bench without knowing there was already somebody on it. She snarled at him, but when he jumped up and bowed politely saying, "I'm sorry. I didn't see you there," she felt sorry for him. Even though she wasn't in a good mood it wasn't fun to take it out on handsome innocent by standers. The novice popped up from her place and curtsied, hoping she did not offend the man. He was obviously much older than she. "I apoligize for my behavior, Dedicated. You may sit with me if you'd like." She smiled openly, hoping to make herself look friendly enough to have him sit down. Someone from the Black Tower might make a good friend, better than the Aes Sedai pets of the White Tower. "So, what's your name? I'm Naishee." She said, before the Dedicated even had a chance to sit down or move. If he's going to strut off atleast I'll know his name.. That way I know whos throat to slit when I leave this place." She thought rather happily to herself. Naishee blinked, then realized that the Dedicated was still there. She put on her best smile again, wondering if he would join her or not. |

Edeleas hesitated at the Novice's sudden change of mood. But then, she was polite. She probably did not notice his Sword Pin then. So he sat back down beside her, brushing off dust from his pitch-black cloak. "So, what's your name? I'm Naishee." she said. Edeleas noted that for a Novice, she had quite a sharp tongue. But he wasn't in the mood for punishment. "I'm Edeleas." he replied. "What are you doing out here so early? No chores?" ((sorry it's so short.)) |

Naishee was glad when the Dedicated sat, almost relieved that she didn't have to add another to her list of people to kill when they weren't looking. She looked to the man, her smile real this time, as he spoke. "I'm Edeleas." he said. "What are you doing out here so early? No chores?" At his mentioned of chores, she sighed and turned her gaze to the ground, glaring at it. After a moment she mumbled, "I don't want to think about that right now.." Naishee recalled what had happened and shuddered, wishing Edeleas hadn't brought it up. That was easily one of the worst days of her life, aside from when Sarana was killed, then a few years later when Thelak was killed. Naishee shoved those thoughts away, not wanting to become sad over something so far in the past. Softening her expression, the novice looked back to Edeleas, though she wasn't smiling this time. "So, what are you doing out here," she asked him politely, wondering if it was possible for a Dedicated to send a novice to the Amyrlin Seat. Or would she be sent to the M'hael? Naishee wondered, then thought about being rude to see if she would be punished, but quickly pushed the thought aside. This Dedicated seemed nice, and maybe having atleast one friend would be okay.. if she could call him a friend. Naishee knew nothing about Asha'man, Dedicated, or soldiers, except for the fact that they could channel the male half of the Power, saidin, and at the moment the didn't care to know much else. |

Edeleas shrugged. "I'm trying to cool down my headache. These days it seems to happen quite a lot." He glanced at the girl, and then a thought hit him. Another woman. Why were his friends nearly turn out to be women? He only had Resolute and Nhadnay in the Black Tower...and of course Rishid... Silently he cursed his face. Why under the Light did his father damn him with this face?! Then the bells chimed. Edeleas jerked up from the bench, looking. But he sighed. He was still free until the 3rd chime of the afternoon. Again he glanced at the Novice. Strange for her to be not doing anything...but White Tower business wasn't his business, so he kept his mouth shut. Why was he feeling...wary...with the girl? |

"I'm trying to cool down my headache. These days it seems to happen quite a lot," Edeleas said, which maid Naishee blink. The poor man, She thought to herself, He is probably going through so much stress right now.. Maybe if I just.. She glanced around and seeing that no one who could send her to the Mistress of Novices, except Edeleas, was around, she quickly took hold of the One Power. The pure joy it gave her was enough to dramaticly change the expression on her face, and Naishee just sat there for a moment, so tempted to draw more and more. She knew better though, and at the moment was holding just enough to make a few extremely simple healing weaves, and only a woman who could channel would be able to sense it within a few feet. Naishee turned her full attention to Edeleas then mumbled something as she took his head gently in her hands. She wove the five powers into him, just enough to heal the headache, then let go of him and saidar at the same time. Before he could say anything, Naishee spoke, "I'm sorry, it was a natural reaction!" She bit her lip, hoping Edeleas wouldn't send her away, but instead sit and talk, maybe even be a bit greatful. |

Edeleas jumped as goosebumps started popping down his arms. He quickly turned to the girl, and he knew at once that she was channeling. He touched saidin too, just in case, but what could a Novice possibly do against him? He watched her warily as she caught his head in her hands, and he shuddered as he felt the five powers rush into him. She released him quickly. "I'm sorry, it was a natural reaction!" and she bit her lower lip. Edeleas blinked at her as he gave his glasses a push. He took a deep breath. "That's...that's...okay. Thank you. It seems I did need a little Healing, myself." he mumbled. For a second time he looked at her closely. He tried to force aside the wary feeling that gnawed at the back of his head. She looks nice enough...I'm just being paranoid, that's all... He thought firmly. |

"That's...that's...okay. Thank you. It seems I did need a little Healing, myself," Edeleas mumbled to Naishee. She breathed a sigh of relief, knowing it was her second time just narrowly avoiding a trip to the Mistress of Novices. "I'm glad you aren't angry.. Accepted Marian was in the room this morning when I was dusting, and I knocked a vase over and quickly put it back together using saidar.. She let me off the hook. What would Cayana Sedai say if I had been to her office twice in one day?" Naishee shook her head, wondering more what the Aes Sedai would do, not say. After a moment Naishee shook herself to rid the thoughts, quickly turning back to Edeleas and hoping he hadn't said anything, because she surely missed it. That seemed to happen often since coming to the Tower.. She had started to become lost in thought, fretting over silly Aes Sedai pet things and dreaming about her life as it used to be. She wondered is Edeleas ever did that, and decided to ask him. "Edeleas.. Do you ever miss your life before you came to the Black Tower?" She said it rather sadly, reflecting the rare mood that tripped her up right now. |

"Why should I be angry with you?" Edeleas asked after a little chuckle. "Well...I'm not like the others. I always see to it first before handing out punishments; my father always told me to be fair at all times." The girl told something about Cayana Sedai, but Edeleas wasn't sure if he understood that bit. So he kept silent. Her next question, though, sent him pondering. "Edeleas.. Do you ever miss your life before you came to the Black Tower?" He gave his glasses a push and looked at her closely. Then he settled back on the bench, breathing. "I was...a noble's son before I came here." He explained. "I was supposed to be the next High Seat of my father's house; I'm from Cairhien. But that all changed when I discovered I could channel, obviously. Made a lot of trouble back home so I decided I was better off here." Again, he remembered the little girl from his Arches. He shuddered. |

"Why should I be angry with you?" He said, chucking a bit. "Well...I'm not like the others. I always see to it first before handing out punishments; my father always told me to be fair at all times." Naishee nodded, glad that Edeleas saw it that way, even though she had been disrespectful and had used the power on him without warning. The Dedicated eyed her closely before settling back and taking a deep breath. He seemed.. unsure, and Naishee knew why when he spoke again. "I was...a noble's son before I came here." Edeleas told Naishee. "I was supposed to be the next High Seat of my father's house; I'm from Cairhien. But that all changed when I discovered I could channel, obviously. Made a lot of trouble back home so I decided I was better off here." She nodded, understanding at least a bit how he felt. "I bet.. Life was nice for you," Naishee said, quickly smiling and hoping she hid her change of speech well. "My parents are from Shienar, but when my mother found out she was pregnant my dad was in the Blight and he never returned.. Mother never told me his name.. She was a merchant, but one night, when I was younger, on the way to Cairhien the wagon was raided by bandits and.. And Mother was killed.. They teased me and then sent me to walk down the roads late at night with.. no covering." She shrugged a bit, trying not to think about her mother. "Well, when I got to the city a nice man named Thelak helped me out and eventualy took me in, but when I came home one day.. He.. Had a knife in his back. The same men tried to kill me, and that's where my channeling began. I lived on the streets for awhile, stealing food and.. money. I hate saying that. After awhile two Aes Sedai found me and brought me here." Naishee realized she had just blabbed half her life story to Edeleas without even thinking, and felt her cheeks turning a bit hot. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to go on like that.." |

Edeleas was silent as Naishee told him about her life. His father had always told him that silence was both helpful and respectful when others were talking about their own story. When she got to her darker background, Edeleas did not feel revulsion whatsoever. He suddenly thanked the Light for his open-mindedness and all of the life lessons his friends from the New Foregate had taught him. If he had been an ordinary, haughty noble, he would have left her now in great disgust. "You needn't fear me babbing, I can assure you." Edeleas smiled after the girl stopped speaking. "Of all the friends I've made here in the Tower, I must say the you have the most interesting story I have heard so far." The bells tolled again, and this time, Edeleas leapt up. His free time was over. He looked at her, smiling again. "I enjoyed talking with you, but my duties in the Black Tower call me. I would very much like to meet with you again to continue our splendid chat. Have a nice day." |

"You needn't fear me babbing, I can assure you. Of all the friends I've made here in the Tower, I must say the you have the most interesting story I have heard so far." Edeleas said, smiling but as the bells tolled for the second time he leaped up saying, "I enjoyed talking with you, but my duties in the Black Tower call me. I would very much like to meet with you again to continue our splendid chat. Have a nice day." Naishee smiled at him, then stood up and curtsied. "Have a nice day, Dedicated Edeleas." As he returned her words with a bow, Naishee giggled, then Edeleas whirled around and hurried off. The novice sighed, knowing she still had the rest of the day off, and continued to walk around the grounds. After a few moments, Naishee found a nice shade tree with flowers around, even a small pond, then sat down on her legs. She took a few moments to arrange her short skirts so no skin showed, then sighed and took hold of the Power. It was just enough to make tiny weaves, and only women who were in a few feet away from her would be able to feel it. She began weaving the small flows for Compulsion, probably enough to work on a grasshopper, then started to test a few new weaves. Had Naishee been handling more of the power, the weaves would be larger and much more complex, but she did not feel like almost getting sent to the Mistress of Novices for the third time in one day, or even getting punished. Sighing, she continued her weaves untill she eventualy was working with pure spirit. Naishee readied a flow, then sent it into a pebble and was shocked when it disapeared. Her eyes widdened and she tried to again. "Light! I wonder if this will work on myself." Without thinking, Naishee drew deeply into saidar, enough to attract Aes Sedai from even inside. She wove spirit around herself and looked down, disapointed that it didn't show. Naishee glanced at the lake and nearly screamed, not seeing her reflection at all. Instead the novice just stood there, stunned, not knowing that she had just discovered her second talent. |

Sapphira sat, finishing the last few bites of her lunch, which was even better than usual today. This was one of those days when she was thankful she was no longer an initiate, simply because of the quality food she got as Aes Sedai. She finished off her meal, and downed the rest of her wine. As she sat the glass down on the table, she waved a novice over to come get her dishes. When the girl reached Sapphira's table, Sapphira spoke, "Child, be sure you compliment Cook on the wonderful job she did on this meal." The child nodded, and walked quickly over to where the used dishes were deposited. Sapphira stood from her chair, and made her way out of the mess hall, on her way back up to her office. She still had half a day's work ahead of her, today was not to be one of those rare days she got done early and could spend some time at her own devices. When she was halfway down the first hall on the way to her office, she felt someone draw deeply on saidar just outside the walls. She frowned, what would someone be doing with so much of the Power in the gardens. There was, of course, always the chance that it was a Brown sister studying the plants, or perhaps one of the Accepted practicing the necessary 100 weaves for an upcoming testing. She felt mostly all Five Powers being used, and came to a slow stop. She glanced up the hallway, toward the waiting paperwork, and at the wall that separated her from whoever was channeling outside. After a moment, curiosity and the desire to put off the paperwork for a few moments got the better of her. Sapphira turned toward the nearest door, and stepped out into the gardens. She followed the feeling to where she knew she would find a channeler. When she turned a corner she saw no woman, but the weaves necessary to hide a person. She frowned, what would someone need to hide herself for? And, why would she hide herself with the Power, when the weaves could so clearly be seen. She embraced saidar as well, holding only a tiny amount of it, but ready to draw more at any moment, and stepped over through the weaves. Once inside, she found herself standing very close to a crouching novice, holding quite a large amount of the Power, concidering her rank. Sapphira did not weave a shield, as it seemed the girl had herself under control, and she assumed that the girl would release her hold instantatneously anyway. "Child," she said sternly, "just what do you think you are doing?" She looked the girl over, she had never seen the young woman before. Sapphira made no claims to know the entire body of novices, but she liked to think that she could at least recognize a girl who had been in the Tower a little while. But, if this girl was new to the Tower, then she must be a Wilder, in order to be doing what she was doing. Sapphira wondered whether the girl even knew she was channeling. As she waited for the girl to answer, for she truly did expect a response, she stepped out of the weave, and waited for it to disappear. She wondered why a novice was in the grounds at this hour anyway. All of the novices had chores at this time of day, Light, but how many rules could one girl break in only a few moments? Even if she was new to the Tower, she should know better than to skip out on chores, and, if she was to skip, why would she not go to her dormitory. Certainly she had to realize that she would get caught channeling in the grounds. Light, I know the novices channel in their rooms, when did they start getting the courage to channel in the gardens? Sapphira was not happy, if this was the way things were to be, she would have to have a serious discussion with Cayana about the disciplining of the novices. She waited calmly, though, for the girl to answer, wondering what her excuse would be. No matter how new she was, it was unlikely that the child would mistake the stole of the Amyrlin Seat, Sapphira was currently wearing, and she would certainly see that she had gotten herself into serious trouble with this. |

Naishee was still staring into the pond, reworking the weaves infront of her while she held the invisiblity weave on herself, to busy to notice anything around her. Her mind worked furiosly, memorizing every single flow, not even thinking about the rules. As the novice had almost completed the weave again, the thought struck her. Novices aren't allowed to channel without an Aes Sedai or Accepted with them.. Oh, Light, this will draw Aes Sedai for miles around! Naishee sighed, knowing that someone was probably already on their way, so she finished the weave then abandoned it, though she kept her own invisibility weave around herself. As she was about to drop the source, Naishee felt someone close to her and her breathing stopped. "Child," said an unfarmiliar voice, "just what do you think you are doing?" Naishee squeaked as she looked over at a woman, apparently Aes Sedai, who quickly stepped out of her weave. In panic, the novice dropped the weave, but not the source, and in her hurry to get up almost fell in the pond. She barely caught herself with a wall of air, but quickly regained her balance, then looked at the Aes Sedai in horror. Naishee's mouth dropped open as she saw the stripped stole around the woman's neck. Blood and bloody ashes! Not just any Aes Sedai, the Amyrlin Seat herself! Naishee quickly dropped a curtsy, and when she stood straight her grey eyes were wide and her mouth working soundlessly. She didn't even realize she still held the power. "M-M-Mother.. I.. I was just.. I mean I.." She stammered, searching for some explanation that would be good enough. Nothing, there's nothing that will get by this woman. She thought to herself, then very nearly groaned aloud, but supressed it. Naishee knew she was going to get a punishment, and not a good one at that. |
