As she stepped out of the White Tower, Mika briefly had to shield her eyes, so strong was the sun today. It had been like this for a couple of days now; spring had finally settled in and it was trying to prove everyone that winter had left. Mika knew well enough that the next day it might as well snow or rain again, but at least for nearly a whole week it had been blissfully beautifull weather; and now, as she'd managed to get done with her chores, she'd decided to enjoy it for a bit. With a couple of notes tucked carefully under her arm, the novice started walking trough the tower grounds into the gardens. After so many years she still managed to get wrapped up in the beauty that these gardens held. True, compared to the Ogier grove which she'd seen in town earlyer, this was nothing... but then again, she doubted that anything would come even close to matching the ogier groves in beauty. Wrapped in the beauty of the gardens, Mika let her feet carry her to wherever they wanted, and after a while she noticed that she'd reached a beautiful clearing with a tiny pond inbetween a heap of trees, the soft, sweet smell of violets filled the air here and instinctively Mika smiled; she really liked violets. She lay down, careful not to crush any of the many young flowers and took out her papers. As usual the papers had texts in the Old Tongue on them; poems to be more correct, copied from the book 'Timeless Poems'; which she by now had read at least a dozen times. Along with the copied poems and their translations also were a few notes with words and constructions of translations of those poems, to help her learn the language. "which one..." she whispered softly as she browsed trough the poems. She loved just reading them, she loved the sound of them when they were spoken out loud... it was as if each had a soft of magic in them, carried by that ancient tongue. Instinctively her hands darted to one of the longer poems and softly, onnly to herself and the nature around her she started reading it. It was about love, romance and passion, it spoke of fluttering hearts as his arms pulled her closer; it spoke of two bodies close together; hearts beating as one; of caresses and gentle kisses in the gloom of a soft candle. As she spoke; almost knowing the poem by heart, Mika's mind wondered and got absorbed by the poem; she could feel the warmth of someone pulling her close, his strong arms holding her against his body, the scent of manliness reaching her nose as the gloom of a soft candle showed her a handsome face. one hand was behind her neck, pulling her gently, though with passion even closer to him, and she in her turn wrapped her arms around his body as she let her lips feel Edeleas' kiss... Suddenly her head jerked up as she noticed what she'd just been thinking about, or even more, who she just had been thinking about. "Light a few minutes in a closet with someone and you have those idea's already... a fine green you'll make" she muttered to herself in surprise. |

Edeleas hopped out of the library with a smile on his lips, and yet again, another book nudged somewhere in the crook of his arm. He'd met Miakoda earlier in the Library, and she was thanking him for lending her his book. It was no big deal; he always loved sharing knowledge...and by the looks of it, why he chose to be Deib Cha in the first place. He walked toward the gardens, hoping to find a nice place to reread the book Miakoda had borrowed from him. He went to one of the Tower's more concealed groves, that one with the pond - he often took himself way out there during his free time, reading away. He found the place quite empty (or so it seemed), so he tucked his legs underneath him and opened the first few pages of the book. "Light a few minutes in a closet with someone and you have those idea's already... a fine green you'll make" someone spoke suddenly. Edeleas jumped; he had a memory of being trapped in a closet now some weeks ago, and to have someone mumble it behind him like some ghost certainly made him jittery. Mouth shut, he gave his glasses a quick push and turned tentatively to see who said it, and he felt his cheeks blaze. Mika...! |

Sighing, Mika put her hands around her head. "Light what are you thinking you woolhead girl" she muttered softly. "Another poem... something less... ehm... sensual or so." she continued as she put the paper back between her other papers, carefully minding that she put it between the right ones. Then she thumbed trough her little bundle untill she found another poem, a lot shorter this time and took it out. It seemed perfect for where she was at the moment, for it was called 'Daisys, Violets and Roses' or at least that was the translation of the title. It was a tribute to nature in the spring, to the wealth of flowers, the sweet scent of truth and honesty. Softly the Old Tongue words left her mouth as she spoke to the nature around her, courting her surroundings as she tried to take in their beauty in every way. She could see the violets and the daisys in the little clearing, smell them and just smiled. apparently her plan had worked and she'd successfully banned the dedicated from her mind. slowly, with careful movements, Mika put down her papers and reached out towards a daisy, somewhere within her she felt a bit of sorrow that she was breaking of a part of nature but she took the litle flower anyways and with a few quick movements she wove into her hair, and then she did so again, and again. This reminded her of her mother and how the two of them had done this so many years ago when all still was perfect.. home "No, this is your home now" she corrected herself with a quick shake of her head. "just forget the trollocks and forget the pain... there must be someone who loves you here... someday at least.... there must be." she almost whisperedas she stared past a daisy that she held in her hand and into the pond; until her head jerked up as she hearda noise coming from somewhere behind her. |

Edeleas listened as Mika spoke, apparently not knowing they were in the same place...yet again. His heart was beating very fast, and he sorely wished he knew why. The girl simply put him in jitters by just being there...Light, are all women like that?! He let her voice wash over him, like some crystal clear water from a mountain spring. "Light what are you thinking you woolhead girl! Another poem... something less... ehm... sensual or so." He seemed to be holding his breath as he watched her straighten up and reach for some flowers to pick. Obviously she came here to study...but why the hell did she...well...she WAS here to study, so he should get himself moving and get out, because surely he would yet again disrupt her attentions and waste her time. Slowly, Edeleas got up and made to sneak away. Until he stepped on a dried twig, and the sudden crack rent the air. Blood and bloody flaming ashes! |

Mika's eyes darted about wildly as her mind started racing. who, what where? and more careful and collected then she ever could have imagined she got up, though her insides were in a turmoil. It's probably nothing... just a twig that's fallen... or a chipmonk that passed... she kept telling herself these kind of things, but in the meanwhile she was bothered by other things. is it an Aes Sedai? or an asha'man to punish me? and how much have they heard? the neme of Edeleas flashed trough her mind as well as the comment about th closet and she wondered how much of it she'd actually only thought and how much she'd said out loud. Slowly, silently, she made her way over to here she'd heard the 'crack' and she looked closely to see either someone or soemthing... she saw a shade... a person.. Oh light, it's going to be an Aes Sedai who heard everything I said.... oh... the closet remark.... and the fact that I want to be a grene one day..... Oh light, I'll be sent immediately to Cayana Sedai and be stuck with punishement for so long! she almost winced at the thought of that... fr she'd actually come to appreciate er free time that she got witout having to have punishments all the time. this just cant get any worse she thought as she drew a deep breath and straightened u before walking around the tree to face the Sisters wrath. "You!" her jaw dropped as she saw who she was facing, no Aes Sedai, no asha'man... just a single dedicated. This time she winced so hard inwardly that she was plainly shoqued not to actually hear herself wince. Oh light so it can be worse..... what did he hear? he only just arrived right? I mean, that's why I heard him.... he has to be... panicky thoughts rushed trough her mind while she tried her utmost best to keep her face free rom the turmoil that was within her and tried to make her voice sound pleasant. it did.... though far too shaky to her liking. "hey, Dedicated Edeleas...." she said with a small smile and then dropped into an obligatory curtsey, which gave her time to just briefly put some things straight in her mind. "how long have you been here already?" it was supposed to sound open and casual, but instead Mika sounded and looked more like she felt, nervous and afraid he'd heard too much. Oh light, please don't let him have heard that comment! |

"Hey, Dedicated Edeleas....how long have you been here already?" Mika said as she approached him, dipping into a good curtsey. Edeleas swallowed nervously and retreated a step back, actually removing his glasses and fumbling with them. He did not know what to say; it was as if something had been stuck in his throat and he couldn't get it out. "Uhm...ah...well...it's a nice day today, isn't it?" Edeleas mumbled stupidly, gesticulating at the sky. "P-perfect for studying...yes...uhm...I wonder what's for dinner - I mean, what's for lunch...I'm...starving..." Mika's eyebrows rose, and Edeleas knew he should bolt. He was never good with women; and what he'd just heard...his cheeks felt terribly hot. He retreated again and made to turn away, but she caught his sleeve. She was frowning up at him, her mouth open as she worked out what she wanted to say. But Edeleas found he did not want to hear anything; it would just make him look more foolish, if that was possible. "I'm...going to get dinner," Edeleas said faintly as he tried to pluck Mika's fingers off his sleeve. "I thought I told you I'm starving? They're...they're serving squid in the Mess Halls...excellent...I haven't eaten squid before...and...and..." The Light burn me to the Pit of Doom! Edeleas wailed inside his head. What is happening to me? What is happening to me? |

However bad Mika was feeling herself, and however much she wouldn't notice, it was impossible for her to miss the way Edeleas reacted, how nervous he'd become and how stuttery his words were. Instinctively she slightly frowned up at him at the high 'excuse-factor' of his words and reached for his arm as he left. the fact that she did surprised her and she wondered why she had done so. Edeleas however froze in his steps and looked back at her before gently plucking her fingers of his sleeve and once more speaking in his nervous manner. "I'm...going to get dinner, I thought I told you I'm starving?" he's heard it... Oh light... he must have... has he? "They're...they're serving squid in the Mess Halls...excellent..." confirmation of his excuse came, earlier he'd told her he did not know what would be for dinner..-for which is was still far too soon anyways- and now he knew what it was all of a sudden... Light he heard. I'm such a woolhead "I haven't eaten squid before...and...and..." "you heard that comment havent you?" she asked him, her brown eyes somehow managing to hold his for a moment, her voice sounded somewhat... defeated... a sound of acceptance of defeat. She could see it... in his eyes, in the way he stood the way he'd acted. "Light" she whispered as she got confirmation even before he could say something. "I... ehm... ehm..." she tried to say something, find an explanation, tell him that it was just the poem that had gotten her mind to wander off and that he had nothing to do with it. but somehow she couldn't put those thoughts into words... she couldn't find the words. |

Edeleas sighed and gave up the stupid attempt. He shouldn't lie to her. He straightened his back and gave his glasses a push, forcing himself to meet her gaze. He tried to smile. "I heard everything you said, Mika, but please. You don't need to worry offending me or any other whatnot. That's okay." Now he seemed to regain his confidence and his voice. "Well...I didn't know you liked poetry. I know quite a lot too, are you free? You might want to have company while reading some? I've got quite some books about them. I can show them to you." She nodded, looking somewhat relieved. Edeleas lightly touched her on the shoulder. "I'll be back. This is quick." So saying he turned around and bolted, going to the Dedicated Barracks. He reached the place in just two minutes, and he tore through the corridors, panting by the time he reached his and Rishid's room. He opened the door and quickly scrambled through his things. He found the books easily, and he got all three of them before setting out at a run again back to where Mika was. He didn't want to keep her waiting. She was still in the same place, waiting for him. She gave him a nervous smile. He sat down beside her, maintaining a careful distance. He tried to force down the butterflies in his tummy. She surely set him fluttering about like an idiot. He wondered if the incident with the closet was responsible for it. He gave her the books, and she brightened at them. He smiled appreciatively. He always liked girls who had the same passion for books...Light, what are YOU thinking of now!? Edeleas coughed. "I have lots, but all of them are back home." He explained. "I couldn't take them all - I would have needed an entire wagon anyway. Do you like patterned ones or free-verse? I like free-verse more." Edeleas tried to keep his voice light, hoping it would make up for the ridiculous behavior he demonstrated earlier. |

"I heard everything you said, Mika, but please. You don't need to worry offending me or any other whatnot. That's okay" would she still have beenable to, she'd have winced, but at the moment, Mika was just completely calm, completely accepting. And somewhat surprised that he hadn't started laughing in her face as well. What he said was supposed to be comforting, and even though she still felt severely embaressed, his words somehow managed to get her at least a bit more at ease. Fluently, as if nothing had happened before, Edeleas started talking about poetry, and before she knew it she watched him dart of to his room. Foolish little girl she said to herself as she watched the direction in which he'd dissappeared and could now still hear some fading rustling. "I wonder if he'll really bring poetry or go get his friends to laugh at me..." Mika muttered softly before turning around and sitting down with her papers, her gaze still fixed on something in the distance. Never heard a bad thing about him from any of the other novices though... maybe he's just a sweet guy... like Elia was... and he's just trying to be nice... she nodded softly and took up her bundle of papers. Then why am I daydreaming like this so often? The question welled up from inside her and again she thought of him; how serious he could look, how strong yet soft his embrace had been; how his voice sounded soothing. She shook her head and realised what was happening to her. Light and all because of ne moment in a closet!? "How am I supposed to behave around him now? he already thinks of me as a woolhead and will absolutely stop acting nice and laugh at me if I embaress myself even more. Why can't I be more like Shaya.... all misterious n such..." she sighed after her mutteed words and then wordlesly browsed trough the pages and cleaned herself up a bit when suddenly, after not too much time, she heard rushing again and took in a deep breath, hoping for as little as possible embaressement the next few moment. Ending a jog, Edeleas entered the clearing with books under his arms, and Mika greeted him wiht an unsteady smile, at least relieved that he was alone. As he handed her the books her smile became more genuine and she looked up to him gratefully. "I have lots, but all of them are back home." He explained. "I couldn't take them all - I would have needed an entire wagon anyway. Do you like patterned ones or free-verse? I like free-verse more." Mika nodded softly; apparently Edeleas had really seemed to have forgotten the previous incident, and though this was a relief to Mika it was also a bit of a cold shower, for it confirmed to her that he had -as an adult- set aside the silly crush of a novice and could continue talking normally to her. Suddenly she realised that she had been thinking while she should have talked and she hurridly looked at him, while trying to keep her cheeks from glowing again. "Ehm... I'm not sure... I suppose it depends on which type of verse... or on my mood. but I haven't read that much poetry I must admit." though he sat on a decent distance, his gaze rested upon her and made her blush more; but at least he might be able to think that it is a bit of embaressement for me lack of books I've read she coughed and then quickly spoke up again. "So, where do you come from if you have so many books?" |

Edeleas nodded, still trying to suppress the awful fluttering in his tummy. "I come from Cairhien, see, and my family was quite well-to-do, so I got all the books I wanted." He explained, looking at her secretly from behind his lidded eyes. Could she have been serious of what she said? If so, then Edeleas wasn't the only one who seemed to be suffering from some strange ailment that attacked him for the past few weeks. Is she having the strange, fluttering feeling too? Edeleas thought as Mika opened the books and now started to read one he'd memorized by heart, a poem entitled Outcast. Still he kept his gaze on her, and now he truly saw how pretty she was. He swallowed. Light help me, but I want to tell her this... I will not seek my Father's hills, Their hue is fresh and clear and bright, What time the early sunbeam fills Their bush-clad depths with lonely light. Mika then told him how nice the poem was, but Edeleas was only half listening. He just stared at her, battling with himself is he should say what he was thinking. Well...she deserves to know the truth..after all...it's about her...about...us... He cleared his throat. He was going to tell her what he hadn't said to any other women except his mother and sisters. "Mika..." She gave a start and looked at him now, her brown eyes looking into his green ones. Her cheeks started to color beautifully. She looks prettier that way Edeleas thought. "You know...I really like you..." The silence that ensued afterward was deafening. They stared at each other. Slowly, so as not to startle her, Edeleas inched forward, keeping his gaze steady into her eyes. She did not move. Forward. She had long eyelashes. Forward. Was that a freckle or a speck of dust? Forward. This close he could practically jump into her eyes and drown forever. Forward... I really like you, Mika... |

As he spoke her hands darted trough one of the books, unattentive, for her mind was completely occupied with his words. all the books he wanted... Somehow that sounded attractive to Mika, even though she could have cared less when she still lived home. Surely she could read, after all she'd read "Hoards of the Seas" a storiebook about the exploits of a seatraveller/adventurer but that had been about it; she hadn't been all that into reading in the past. As he was done speaking, Mika turned her attention to the book she was holding and started softly reciting a poem called 'outcast'. She tried to keep her mind focussed on what she was reading, but still she couldn't help but think about the one itting besides her, making her all giddy. Foolish novice... foolish CHILD... he's done an effort to make you feel comfortable and put that behind him while bringing on another topic; and still you have to keep htinking about it? what is so... "Mika..." Suddenly his voice brought her out of her thoughts. her head turned towards him and instantaniously she was caught by his eyes. he had a very deep, serious look about him that made Mika feel both hot and cold, and a flash from bakc in the closet came to her, miking her cheeks once more color, Mika held her breath, she did not know why, but she felt something was about to happen. "You know...I really like you..." Suddenly everythng just seemed to stop, and Mika just stared at the dedicated, who did the same to her now, her thoughts muted she could do nothing else then this. This changed as very slowly, very calmly, Edeleas started moving towards her. Mika's mind seemed to be revived and all of a sudden both her mind as her heart were racing, wondering what to think, what to do, what to believe. Is this for real? he moved closer, his eyes seemed somewhat softer. is he making a fool of me? he moved one arm closer to her on the ground to have some support as he leaned in. he's going to kiss me! light! Even closer, he was really closeby now and Mika could hardly notice her lips trembling softly. He isn't taking advantage because he knows how I feel does he? Fear struck her heart for a moment and she wanted to move herself away, but instead she just froze up, for she felt his lips on hers now. As she actually snapped out of it she could see his closed eyes and his other hand that now softly touched her cheek. However much confused she was, and even though she was terrified of what his intentions might be, she still couldn't stop herself from leaning in a bit as well and kissing him back. It was only then that she truly realised what she was doing and snapped out of it. her eyes shot open and hastilly she broke of the kiss as she bolted back wards, panting heavilly. "I... ehm... " she scrawled backwards, evading to look at him and tried to get up. "Chores... or classes... ehm..." she couldn't even think decently and just ran off, forgetting the fact that her notes still lay there and that she still held one of his books. Foolish little girl |

Time seemed to stop in the world. Please let her see I'm not doing this just because of her feelings. I'm doing his because I like her...because...I...love her... Edeleas thought hard as he kissed her, gently. But then, as quick as lightning, Mika broke the kiss, and Edeleas drew back, blinking in confusion. Light, did I scare her?!? She looked stricken, and even before he could explain his odd behavior, she said "I... ehm... chores... or classes... ehm..." and she darted off, running, her skirts flapping as she went. Light! I've done it! I blew it all up! Edeleas wailed inside his head, burying his head in his hands. Now what? I've always been stupid with girls, the Light burn me to the Pit of Doom! What do I do? What do I do?! But then his head snapped up, and he stood up. Bloody idiot, what you're supposed to do next is court her! It's past time you stopped behaving childishly - you're already an adult! Edeleas looked at where Mika disappeared. Now he knew what to do. He couldn't just give up on her, now that he truly knew how he felt for her. He was going to be there for her, until she wanted him to go. Nodding firmly, he gathered his black cloak behind him and walked back to the Black Tower. A smile was on his lips. |
