The night had been dreadful, Cayana had not gotten any sleep at all and she was quite annoyed. Having a slow morning she decided that she'd go down to the stables. It had been a long time since she last had ridden a horse and she thought it was time to get back up on one. Now she was standing, petting the mule of a brown mare. Cayana was dressed in a black riding dress, high necked with narrow divided skirts that clung pretty well to her body. She had yet not decided on a horse to ride, she was just checking them out at the moment. A sound made Cayana turn her head. A pair of stable boys had gotten in a quarrel about something, it had drawn her attention, but as fast as she had noticed her attention switched to something else. Through the stable doors came the man who had been occupying her thoughts to the extreme of late. Radgar. As always he looked gorgeous in that soldier uniform. But her mind wasn't on that even if she did notice. Her mind shifted to her previous thoughts about the situation between them and suddenly she got an idea. Would he obey her if she asked him to do something? A poke on her back made her turn away from the doors. A stable boy, no older then 12 gave her a hasty bow and asked. "Can I help you Aes Sedai?" Cayana glanced over to Radgar for a moment, then looked at the boy. "Yes, you might be able to help me." She said, in a way that made the boy look a bit frightened. He had noticed her looking over at the soldier and he had certainly heard the rumors from town about Cayana and a certain soldier getting into fights. "The soldier over there is Radgar al'Exander. You will tell him that I want him to saddle a horse and take it out to the training yard. When he has come back to me." The boy seemed to regret ever even coming up with the thought about freely helping an Aes Sedai but obeyed. he gave her an other hasty bow and scurried off towards Radgar. In the meanwhile Cayana eyed the mare in front of her. Perhaps this horse would due? A bit short of breath the stable boy halted in front of Radgar. "Soldier Radgar?" He said with a small bow. "The Aes Sedai want's you to saddle a horse and take it out to the training area." He waited for Radgar to react to him, say something or give him a hint that he could leave. Talking to channelers no matter their rank was a bit scary, it always was. |

Radgar had been in a foul mood since he had told Cayana the truth. It was the right thing to do but almost every waking hour he cursed himself for doing it, if he was not cursing that he was worrying. He worried that Cayana would decide not to love him, but to send him to be hung. Death did not scare him...loosing her did, he hated feeling like this. It was like having his arms pulled in both directions. His mind said for him not to chance it and run, but his heart said to stay chance his life on her feelings. He listened to his heart and stayed in the tower fowl mood and all. He had avoided human contact for the most part in the week and a half since he had last spoken to her. "ARG" he bellowed and punched the top bunk. He had been laying on his bed dwelling for the last hour. He had finished his last class of the morning and was killing the few hours before lunch. Looking around he decided to do something that would kill time and take his mind off Cayana so he got up and started walking. Heading towards the stables he took the shortest way he could the paths where full of people going to and from what ever they were doing bowing here and there to Aes Sedai Asha'man and the odd gaidin he finally made his way to the stable. He wasn't sure what he could do...it had been far to long since he had worked with horses. Walking through the large doors he looked around letting his eyes adjust to the light change. Looking down the long building his heart stopped as he whispered her name "Cayana" She was beautiful, she is always beautiful in his mind. All thoughts left him as he struggled to find the right thing to door...should he run...should he stay...he couldn't decide. He didn't realize how long he had been standing there until the boy came up to him. Listening to what he said Radgar nodded and walked towards a horse and saddled it. He would play her game. When he was done he walked it out the door and deftly jumped into the saddle and walked rode it to the training yard. He rode the horse in circles around the yard concentrating on riding and nothing else...he wasn't sure what to do exactly so he just rode. |

Once Radgar was outside, riding his horse around the training area in circles Cayana had made her way outside as well, standing leaned against the stable wall, a bit from the enclosure where Radgar was riding. She was leaning against the fence watching him when the stable boy came back to her. He bowed but didn't say a word. Silence for a while as Cayana watched Radgar then she told the boy to tell Radgar to start jumping some obstacles that were laid out in the enclosure. the boy scurried off, climbed up at the fence and waved to Radgar to tell him what the Aes Sedai had said. In the mean time Cayana just watched, eyeing his every move as far as she could see them and pondering hard what to do, and what to tell him next. Radgar stopped next to the stable boy, without much talk he received the new orders. He didn't obey right off though and for a while Cayana was about to leave, but eventually he did. Cayana watched as he started small, letting the horse get used to the jumping and it's rider then went to higher jumps. There weren't many obstacles in there, not very hard ones but the point wasn't to test his riding skills. After a while the stable boy returned and Cayana told him to tell Radgar to test the horses training. To ride without using his rains as much and controlling the horse with his legs. The boy grimaced this time, expecting a slap from Radgar probably but hurried off to obey anyway, you didn't anger Aes Sedai if you could help it. The boy climbed the fence once more and waved to Radgar, and the soldier made his way to the boy with a sour expression on his face. Hesitantly the boy said. "The Aes Sedai wants you to try and ride without using your reins as much. Control the horse with your legs to test how well trained it is." In an annoyed tone Radgar cursed "bloody Aes Sedai" and the boy almost fell off the fence with his eyes wide open. In his mind you didn't say such a thing if an Aes Sedai was torturing you. But Radgar dropped his reins and started riding around the enclosure while the boy was catching his breath and walking, hesitantly over to Cayana again. After watching Radgar for a while she told the boy to go get her a horse and the boy hurried off, relieved because he didn't have to tell Radgar any more orders. In the meanwhile Cayana continued to watch and started to put on her riding gloves, black as her dress. The boy came back with a black an white horse that was light on his feet but a bit nervous. Cayana almost cursed, but kept herself calm as she walked up to the horse and sat up. Riding over to the enclosure she completely ignored the stable boy who left to deal with the rest of his work. Like she had instructed Radgar, Cayana didn't use her reins much as she rode. She didn't like seeing that channelers or warriors did, as you needed your hands for other things. Stopping by the entrance to the enclosure she opened the door, making the horse back up to open it and then rode in, closing it at the same time. Once in side she rode around the enclosure at a nice distance from Radgar so that no accidents would happen. She started off as Radgar, riding in circles and sometimes eights to both avoid getting to close to him as to test how well the horse would obey her commands. The horse wasn't very well trained, but it did obey without her having to pull the reins and eventually she started jumping in the very same manner, keeping half an eye on Radgar in the meanwhile. Rounding an other obstacle to jump a higher one Cayana was getting bored fast. It was no way hard, but the horse did lack experience and so higher obstacles where out of the question. Glancing at Radgar once more as the horse jumped, Cayana missed seeing where the horse was pulling. It got annoyed with her and started protesting, galloping one way then stopping, trying to trow her off. It had been a while since Cayana had rode a horse, but it didn't mean she couldn't handle it. Trying to calm the horse though it started rearing. Cursing Cayana leaned forward, trying her best not to fall off. |

Radgar rode in silence trying to figure out what the purpose of this was. Coming here was a bad idea', he thought to himself as he rode. He couldn't stop thinking about her so he started to ride a little faster hoping to distract himself with the horse. He looked over and saw the stable boy that had told him Cayana's command waving to him. Wondering what the boy wanted Radgar turned and walked his horse to him. "The Aes Sedai would like you to start jumping the obstacles Soldier Radgar" the boy said to him. Radgar didn't answer and turned his horse and regained his position making the horse walk around the yard. He wondered at the purpose of this some more, and wondered why she was having him do all this. After about three times around the yard he still couldn't come up with a conclusion and decided to continue playing her game. Kicking hte horse into a gallop he starts to jump the obstacles with ease. He kept going obstacle after obstacle, they were easy and the horse was pretty well trained so it didn't take much concentration from him. His mind drifted again but he didn't keep track of it not wanting his thoughts to haunt him for at least a little while. Even in his dreams she haunted him, he couldn't get away from the fear. He was scared he'd loose her forever, but that would be his own fault. He noticed out of the corner of his eye the boy waving at him again. what does he want now? he thought to himself as he started to ride towards him. "The Aes Sedai wants you to try and ride without using your reins as much. Control the horse with your legs to test how well trained it is." Radgar paused a moment then said "bloody Aes Sedai" as he dropped the reins. Using his knees he started directing the horse around the practice yard. He had to concentrate on riding with out his hands it had been a while since he last had to do it. As he watched what he was doing he didn't notice as Cayana rode a horse into the yard. When he did notice he tried to keep his distance. Not wanting to disturb her. He watched her out of the corner of his eye as he worked himself around the yard. He nearly cursed when the horse started rearing violently. Cayana leaned forward trying to regain control of the horse. Radgar grabbed onto the reins and booted his horse into a gallop. He forgot everything of what had happened recently as his fear for her safety out matched everything. He jumped off his horse a few paces away and ran to her side trying not to get kicked by the horse. He got there just in time as she was flung off, Radgar caught her in his arms before she hit the ground. Looking into her eyes worry filled him before he remembered what had happened. He looked down sadly, she sat still in his hands as he held her before she whispered "thank you" he looked up again "your welcome." he said slowly holding her to him. |

The horse didn't stop, catching Cayana off guard it had understood she wasn't the one in control and so it wanted her off, at any cost. She was flung off and braced for impact as the horse started off away from her, but before she hit the ground a pair of strong arms caught her in mid air. Her breath caught as she turned her head and looked up at Radgar. He was worried, having the same expression as he had when ever she got into trouble or got hurt. Then he looked down sadly and she felt pain grab her throat. Her emotions were one big mess. She didn't know quite what to do or say, feeling an obligation to say something she said "Thank you..." But all that came out was a soft whisper. He heard her none the less and looked up at her, answering with "Your welcome." The way it was clear he felt Cayana felt even more pain, a different kind besides the hurt of the lie, the pain any one feels when a loved one is in pain and even more so when you're the reason. Without thinking Cayana had lifted her hand and touched his cheek, let her fingers run down along his skin softly. But then she remembered herself and her hand stopped in the middle of the motion. Radgar had closed his eyes as she touched him and as she stopped he just as naturally opened them to look at her. She had to make a decision and that soon or she'd loose her chance to ever make one. The pain in her eyes were clear as she asked him to please put her down. He did as she asked and stepped back, causing her to hold her breath as he did. This was as painful as when she had been up on the roof but now she had had time to think it all over. "Radgar.... we... need to talk." She made herself say despite the feeling in her throat, making her think she probably couldn't speak at all. She was surprised when it all came out so clear, even though she was a bit hesitant. "Ok..." He told her, "Here?" She shook her head, "No, it's to open.... Take care of your horse." Turning around she took a deep breath to calm herself, ran through a novice exercise in her head and then embraced saidar. Radgar horse stood off to the side, waiting patiently, but her own was at the far side of the enclosure staring at her and Radgar with determination in his eyes. Without much thought she channeled, sending out threads of air that weaved together into a weave, a net that she put over the horse holding it as tight as if the horse had been a statue. Walking over to it, she grabbed the reins and then eased the weave a little, immediately the horse started to pull, and she increased it again whispering to it 'would you rather be standing here until I decide to come back?' Realizing the treat in her tone and that it was her that was so able to hold him down the horse settled a bit unwillingly. Cayana released the weave slowly and as the horse was calm, or as calm as it could be she started leading it out of the enclosure. Leaving their horses to a couple of the stable boys they continued into the garden. But she still had to find her thoughts and formulate them before she could start speaking with him and they walked on in silence. "How ever much it hurts to admit, you were right to not tell me about your past right away." She swallowed and continued. "I never ever thought you would be capable of such a thing... but I guess I don't know you as well as I thought I did." Looking over at Radgar she lost her trail. He was still Radgar, still that warm gentle him, that strong and protecting him. But things had changed and she would have to learn once more how to trust him if this was to work. "If you're still interested in seeing me... I'll have to ask you to be patient. The trust I had for you is different then it once was, and we'll have to rebuild what we once had...." Realizing what her decision had been first once she said it she swallowed and let him have a chance to reply. |

Radgar stood with her in his hands enjoying possibly the last time he would ever get to hold her. It hurt him to think like that, he loved her more than anything in this life and nothing would ever change that. When her hand touched his cheek he jumped slightly then closed his eye to enjoy her gentle caress. Though it wasn't to last her hand stopped on then pulled away. Opening his eyes he looked into hers wondering what was going on with in her head. Her eyes looked pained and he shared her feelings. She asked him to put her down and he did so slowly. Looking down he took a step back reluctantly. "Radgar.... we... need to talk." she said quietly. Nodding his head he replied to her slowly "Ok... here?" He knew the answer already but he asked anyway for some reason. "No, it's to open.... Take care of your horse." she said shaking her head. Nodding he went off towards his horse and grabbed its reins. He was lucky it was well trained it didn't wander off to far. Cayana's on the other hand was green (no pun intended), and so took off and stood watching them from afar. Cayana soon had it under some control and they walked their horses to the gate and left them with a couple stable boys. They took their time walking to the gardens. Both of them stayed quiet for a bit, Radgar was waiting for her to begin speaking. He didn't want to rush her in anyway. after a bit she started speaking to him. "How ever much it hurts to admit, you were right to not tell me about your past right away. I never ever thought you would be capable of such a thing... but I guess I don't know you as well as I thought I did." She looked over at him and stopped speaking for a moment. Looking back he waited for her to continue, when she started speaking she said something that Radgar had only wished in his dreams to hear. "If you're still interested in seeing me... I'll have to ask you to be patient. The trust I had for you is different then it once was, and we'll have to rebuild what we once had...." Nodding his head he looked off into the distance. "I am not proud of what I did, you are the only one I've ever told." He said pausing to look back at her. Stopping he grabbed her hands gently in his and turned her to face him. Looking into her eyes he started speaking once again "You are the love of my life Cayana. I will do anything for you." He paused waiting for her to reply to him. She squeezed his hands and he smiled gently at her as she said, "I love you Radgar. I don't ever want to loose what we have. But knowing this pretty much pulls the ground out from under me, it's going to take time before I feel stable again, before I can trust you and..." She paused briefly before going on. He soaked up every word she said. "Please be patient with me, I will need time to think this over, to come to terms with what truly is." Continuing to look into her eyes he let her hands go. Taking a step towards her he slowly wrapped his arms around her and held him to him. Whispering to her he said "I will wait as long as it takes for you to trust me." He felt her hug him back, he held her close and enjoyed the warmth of her body next to his and let the silence fill the air as he waited for her to speak. |

"I am not proud of what I did, you are the only one I've ever told." Radgar told her, and looked over at her. Then he stopped and took her hands. Her breath caught and he spoke words she had longed to hear, but it made her hurt in side to have forced him into pain for so long. As he told her he'd do anything to earn her trust back she squeezed his hands harder. Blinking, to not cry she answered him. "I love you Radgar. I don't ever want to loose what we have. But knowing this pretty much pulls the ground out from under me, it's going to take time before I feel stable again, before I can trust you and..." She paused so wanting to hug him tightly and forget everything he had ever said about darkfriends. "Please be patient with me, I will need time to think this over, to come to terms with what truly is." He let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her, whispering to her "I will wait as long as it takes for you to trust me." Cayana was still fighting her tears as he did and so she wrapped her arms around him hugging him tight and leaning her head against his shoulder. She could have lost him because of this. Sure she didn't trust him fully yet, but she knew he wouldn't hurt her. She knew he did not lie to her. He would never have told her about being a former darkfriend if he would have been lying to her. Still it would take a lot of time before her heart and brain was on terms with each other. The silence fell around them and Cayana listened to the wind in the trees the birds singing in the distance. She enjoyed the moment they had, even if it wasn't as joyful as it once had been to hug him like this. After a moment Cayana looked up at Radgar without letting go. "I wish I could just shut my thoughts up at times... But I can't help but to wonder what you did for them... What..." He had told her parts, but it couldn't have been all he had ever done. After all, he had been alive for a hundred years, it was long time ago since Vivian had died... "If I ever ask you, I hope you won't be offended...?" Radgar sighed softly as she asked and answered her as truthfully as always, "That is a part of my life that I never want to remember. I will answer any questions you ask, but..." looking into her eyes he finished, "You will not want to hear the answers..." Cayana nodded, feeling the pain inside rise again. How could the man, she had trusted her life with have been one of them? How could the man who had taken her heart have been on the side of those she wished to eradicate off of the face of the world? Once again she heard the echo of one of the elder Aes Sedai in the back of her mind. She had been reminded of that after reading a report on a novice. No one is so lost that he can't be brought back to the light. When Cayana grew up she had never believed that. In her mind it had been a well defined line between darkfriends and lightfriends and crossing over to the light was not possible if you could ever serve a such wile creature as the Dark One. Still, now, things were different. Radgar was living proof of that it was possible. Reaching up she touched his cheek again, only to twitch as the bells sounded. She had a class soon, and she was annoyed with it at this moment. She wanted to stay here, fix this. But it would have to wait. "Do you have class?" She asked Radgar letting her hand slide down to his chest. |
