Name: Dalyiena al’Kiren
Age: 17
Nationality: Domani ascendance, raised Tinker
Height: 5’8’’
Weight: 125
Hair color/length: Dark brown
Eye color: Green
A quick overview of personality:

Her will power that borders on striking stubbornness usually pushes other people to do what they would not normally achieve without this infectious attitude. As a good Domani, she almost always gets her way. Her beliefs never falter, even if she doesn’t always jump up to defend them. Her passion, she shows in other matters, though it can ultimately become a blind passion that can bring her to make mistakes. She’s impatient, always fidgeting when she’s sitting down, doing nothing. On the down side, she can quick to judge and be extremely cold to the point of being cruel when speaking her mind. But that is something she never hesitates to do, speak her mind.

Block: Dalyiena is a young wilder, only with four years of what can be called experience in blocking her ability. The only time she can touch the True Source is when she is in deep meditation, and even then, only with a flame of some sort as a focus point. Under any other circumstances, she cannot channel.

History:

Seventeen years gone, a minor Lady of a lesser known noble house in Arad Doman carried a baby in her arms. Her husband paced up and down the room, unsure whether to take Dalyiena from her mother’s arms to let her rest. As if reading his mind, the woman named Ellia al’Kiren frowned at her husband and muttered something under her breath that kept the man well away from the ladies. Baby or not, there were two women in the room, and he had to step lightly all the same.

The couple talked that night, after Ellia’s insistence on it, and for the first time in years did not reach the same decision. Arad Doman was not the place where Ellia wanted their child raised, but Jaram still wanted to make his way higher up the ladder. If he left, that would never happen, not anywhere. They were barely known as it was, and leaving just when he was starting to get recognition was not what he wanted. Ellia was a noblewoman by birth, and had never wanted to bring a child into such a world of deceit and war. She could not help the war, but she could at least take her to a place safer than the city of Bandar Eban.

Not half a year after young Dalyiena was born, Ellia followed the scheme she had resolved upon that night, and went on a ride that did not have Bandar Eban as final destination. She took with her the most trusted of her aides, a woman good enough with herbs to be a Wisdom, and spent five days at a small village just outside of Katar. They were not found, but wind got to them of the search Jaram was leading. The three women left the village that day, headed for Saldea. It was imperative for them to pass through major cities in order to reach Kandor. There, no one would know them and Dalyiena could grow old enough to walk on her own two feet, to a better place.

The three women never reached Kandor, or Saldaea for that matter. South of the latter, Dalyiena fell sick. Not any of the herbs brought would help calm the fever, and the healer did not dare try anything of the wild. She went for help, instead, leaving Ellia and the child sitting by a river, and came back not hours later, followed by a group of people in blindingly bright clothes.

Four years later, Dalyiena and Ellia al’Kiren were as much a part of the Tuatha’an as if they had both been born there. Not a sword was in sight, not a bow, not anything that could lead to pain. The women that had helped heal the child acted as her mothers, as well, for a time, and soon the entire caravan had welcomed them to their endless travel.

Ellia never talked of Dalyiena’s father, not to her, not to anyone else. She even kept her and Dalyiena’s Domani heritage as a closed subject, and everyone soon learned not to inquire after that. Dalyiena never needed to know. With so many men and women raising her as their won, she never needed a father.

At the age of ten, though, Dalyiena’s flirtatious nature had caught everyone’s eyes, and after numerous approaches, Ellia let the Tinker women teach Dalyiena the tiganza. She took it on with ease, and men found it hard to look away, even when she was merely practicing. It wasn’t her looks – if not for her green eyes, she had a plain face – but for the way she danced around the bonfire that they all stared. When she danced, she instantly went into a deep meditative state, sometimes eyes closed, but most of the time, steady on the flames before her. She didn’t see what other people did, though, while she danced: that the fire seemed to dance with her.

It was this meditative state she pursued even while not dancing, and always did it feet firmly planted on the ground, before a fire. She never closed her eyes; it was easier to concentrate when she was looking into the flames. At only the third try, Dalyiena got lost in the flame, the earth beneath her, and her own breathing. This place was the one she had chosen and embedded in her mind, as the one she would escape to.

At thirteen, there was a Trolloc attack on her caravan as they were headed south from Kandor. What had attracted the creatures, Dalyiena would never know, but the number of people that died that night would. The number that survived, would haunt her. Three. Dalyiena’s mother was one of the first to die, since she was riding up front with a man she had befriended. The woman her mother had brought from Arad Doman died trying to save the daughters she had had only five years gone, who were beheaded soon after. The boy she had secretly fancied, dreamed about, stared up at her with blank eyes, an axe buried deep into his chest. Every friend, every father, every mother she had had for twelve years were gone. Killed in the most horrible and brutal ways. People of peace unwilling to defend themselves. She had managed to get a burning log out of the fire and threaten a Trolloc with it, attempting to burn its head. She could not recall the log ever getting near the Trolloc, but soon it had been on fire, died that way. Someone had seen this happening, a demonstration of violence from a Tinker, grabbed her by the arm and ran away with her. She screamed, trying to get whoever had grabbed to let go, unsuccessfully.

She didn’t remember falling asleep, but when she opened her eyes, it was day. The one that had taken her, a Tinker visiting from another caravan who Dalyiena didn’t know, took her back to where the attack had taken place. They only found a young girl, four years old, breathing, but badly wounded. She died two days after. The woman who had taught Dalyiena how to dance, was kneeling over her sister’s body, crying. The Tinker that had taken Dalyiena shoved her to the ground and told the other woman what she had done. There was no response, and Dalyiena was left laying on the ground, crying as hard as the other woman, and she never saw the boy again. When she came to, the woman was gone. And she was finally alone.

In the last few months before Dalyiena got to the White Tower, she was dancing at the Tar Valon inn where she had been staying, making her living out of dancing for men, privately or at inns – dancing sometimes to music, sometimes just to the murmur of the fireplaces and the stunned gasps from behind her. She had wandered the land for years, staying only weeks at a time at small villages, never setting conversation with anyone other than to ask for a room, and sometimes food. Her mind was set on reaching Cairhien. Of all the cities she had heard being mentioned, specially in the stories her mother told her when she was younger, Cairhien always fascinated her the most. She did not want to set foot anywhere near the Trolloc-infested cities near the Blight and so she went out of her way, south to Barleon and northeast. She also made a point of visiting as many places as she could, not only for the pleasure of traveling, but to earn enough money to keep her on her feet when she reached the city. Curiosity led her to Tar Valon. It was only days away from Cairhien, and it would do her no harm visiting such a grand city as the one that held the White Tower.

That night, she was dancing for a group of five, two men and three women, before a fireplace. She unconsciously entered the meditative state she had entered since she was four and, as many times before, felt one with the Fire, felt connected to it. The fire was her instrument, and she danced sensually for and because of it. It all happened so fast: she heard two of the women she was dancing for scream. That brought her back, her eyes actually seeing what was happening for the first time: a flame hovering, maybe even surrounding her head. The five left quickly, screaming for the innkeeper to come soon. Dalyiena was just getting out of her trance, when she was grabbed by the wrist and dragged out of the inn. It was an Aes Sedai, as the woman later explained. Dalyiena knew next to nothing about the One Power and its wielders, and so she stayed up all night with that woman, at a tavern, talking. She explained Dalyiena about the True Source, the five Elements, and how she had never seen one so young have fire dance around her like Dalyiena had just done. The girl was clueless as to what she had done, if it was wrong, or good, or foolish. But after the sun came up, the ageless-looking woman took Dalyiena to the White Tower.

Before I go ahead and start with my Bio, I wanted to make sure I understood the OP strenght rules...

Now, on my current strenght, I'm below average at 16 points, and what I udnerstood as base strength, is what my character will get to when she's reached all her potential? Which is 47... Is this at all correct?

Your base strength is where you start out (In your case the strength when you were 17). Your current strength is where you start out + the amount of years you have been channeling (not counting Aes Sedai now). So right now your Current and base strength would be 16.

To be raised Aes Sedai you need to reach 61 in strength prior to being raised. Now I'm not saying you have to change (or that you should for that matter) but I want you to be aware of that your character will be 62 at the youngest as she is raised Aes Sedai. We have made the system this way on purpose to pull the ages up as 25 year old Aes Sedai aren't that common. (Yes I know both Elaida, Siuan and Moraine was in their 25-30s but they also were very quick learners and we still have the rule of the Amyrlin being able to raise a person a head of time :P). At 16 your maximum strength would be 66. Just letting you know.

Also, do remember that women are generally better with water and air and men with fire and earth.

:boing-boing: I get that now! Thank you!

As for the elements, I know about women's general strenght, but with Dalyiena's history, it just took me to Fire and Earth. If by the time I get my history, you don't approve, I change it.

Some questions I want you to look at and answer for me.

Did she channel at the age 10? or even before that? The reason I ask is cause women start to channel at earliest 12-13.

Setting the Trollock on fire while holding a burning thing doesn't necessarily involve fire being channeled. ;)
However creating flames dancing around her head does. Only one can not channel fire that way with eyes closed. I suggest changing that little thing.
As for the flows nothing says earth should be strong in your bio. A suggestion is making Fire stronger, and still keeping Air and Water to be a high affinity. I know your talents wouldn't make sense then but I do find it odd for a woman to have such anyway. Also, doing what you do I suggest selecting a higher strength in the One power. She was born with the spark and are doing quite advanced stuff early on. Things that would take quite a bit of strength.
Oh and Btw, you have stated your channeling scores twice, that isn't particularly necessary.

You say it took a few months for her to get to Tar Valon, and then you say she stayed at inns for months at the time. It doesn't make sense. And why was she heading towards Tar Valon of all places? It would be nice if that was made more clear :) Especially since you say that she is 17 when she reaches the White Tower and starts her training.
If you do have her channel at 13 and then enter at 17 I do expect to see a block stated. Without a block she would be dead within a year.

And by the way --> Saldaea not Saldea. ;)

Other then that it looked quite good. You are a good writer. :)

She started at 13, when the attack took place. What happened before, with the dancing and all, was just to show to kind of inclinations she had, regaring elements, where the meditation took her.

I meant to imply that she manipulated the fire on the torch so that it got to the Trolloc without moving the actual torch :look

All the other things you pointed out have been fixed.

Sorry :look

The bio looks good to me, I'll poke Mother in your direction.
However the block, a block is a thing that blocks you from embracing the One Power. I do have a suggestion for something along the same lines though. How about a block where she has to enter a mediative state to channel, and she only does with a flame or a fire to focus on? Would that work?

What a good story. Im approving it on the basis that much of her personality is in the meditative, but i am wrong, i would urge you to add more in that regard. Personality is very important in a bio, not just the story. :)

I loved it though. approved.
