Happy December everyone!

Some good progress was made on NB this week.

Firstly, I fixed the player movement so that players can now move around with the cursor. I also fixed several bugs with some player support systems. The camera system also got an overhaul and now collides with the terrain.

Secondly, I was able to successfully make a very simple shader program. While it doesn't do much now other than color a triangle, it will soon be used to replace the .5 GB textures currently required for the terrain.

Lastly, I reworked the generator for terrain generation. Besides doing several improvements, the terrain is now based on temperature and rainfall maps, and determines the terrain accordingly. It then determines the elevation of the terrain from a separate noise map per biome. While all the biomes have the same type of noise right now, in the coming days I plan to modify the noise maps of each terrain to be fairly representative. For example, the desert noise map will be fairly flat with a few dunes, while the grasslands heightmap has some nice rolling hills.

Anyhow, thats it for this week :)

P.S. If you guys want to read more about the terrain generation process, I go into detail in my blog. See link in my signature below.

The terrain (21 CF in size) using the biome system. There are not any transitions between biomes yet, so the sharp "cliffs" are the edges between biomes.
