Hey guys.

This week was unexpectedly busy with life at home, so now a lot has been done. I was able to get that last big performance boost for the generator done, allowing for the following improvements:

-Generation time decreased by 46%.

-Smoothing time decreased by 44%.

-Expanding time decreased by 46%.

-Patching time decreased by 66%.

-Overall time decreased by 47%.

-Chunk file size decreased by 63%.

-In-game memory decreased by 57%.

-Terrain loading time decreased by 46%.

-FPS increased from 180 to 230 (with LOD algorithms working).


I was also able to fix a few bugs, redo the border system and reactivate it, made the shader class more general and less memory intensive, and improved the chunk loading algorithm. I also got the shifting/loading chunk system up and running again, but it has some major bugs with it still, so it isnt done quite yet.

Anyhow, thats all for this week. Hopefully Ill catch a break and be able to do more this week :)
