Hello everyone!

This week was mainly about the chunk system. While I wanted to do more, like water and stuff like that, the chunk system took up my entire week. I started out with creating a pre-loaded "buffer" of chunks outside the player's viewing area. I then made some improvements to the LOD system, priority system, and the terrain update loops in order to get better performance and memory. The player movement detection system was also completely reworked, allowing for updates to the terrain to be made based on where the player is located in respect to a given chunk. After that, I spent a couple of days tracking down bugs and fixing them so that I could have a video ready for this week's update. See video below:



Thats all for this week. Over the next couple of days, there are still a couple of performance increases I wanna make to the chunk system. After that, will get back to stuff like the sun, distance fog, etc. Till next week ;)
