Hello all, welcome to my review of Banjo-Kazooie. First, I want to make a few things clear. This is the Nintendo 64 version. If there are any differences in the Xbox Live Arcard version I won't know it since I haven't played that version. Second, the first time I played this game was about a year ago, so I won't be talking about my childhood memories of playing this game. Let's get on with the review already. Story: 7/10 The story isn't anything special, really, but atleast it's there. A witch named Gruntilda is sick of being ugly, so she kidnaps Banjo the bear's sister Tooty and tries to steal her beauty with a machine Gruntilda or her assistant Klungo built. Of course it's up to Banjo and his female bird friend Kazooie to save Tooty. Graphics: 9/10 The graphics are really colorful and nice to look at. The character design is also very good. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought this is a Gamecube game! Setting: 9/10 The short first part of them game takes place in Spiral Mountain, where Banjo and his friends live. After that, Banjo and Kazooie will go trough Gruntilda's Lair, trying to find Tooty. There are nine worlds in this game that you can go from Grunty's Lair. All worlds are unique, and most of them are very fun. The only complaint I have about them is that there are too many water levels! Other than that, it's good. Gameplay: 8/10 The gameplay is very good. There are many moves Banjo and Kazooie can learn to help them on their adventure. In every world, there are 10 "Jiggies" (Magical Jigsaw pieces) that you have to collect. These are needed to open up another world. There are also 100 Notes in every world, which are needed to open up another part of Gruntilda's Lair. There was one problem about them, though. If you leave the world or die in a world without getting all 100, the amount of notes you had will count as your Note Score, BUT all the notes reappear in the world again, and if you want more notes than you had when you left the world or died, you will have to collect ALL of them AGAIN. This can get really frustrating, especially in later levels, which are really hard. Controls: 9.5/10 The controls are simply AMAZING. The controller I was using playing the game was really old, but I still controlled my characters perfectly. When I died, I only blamed my self, and not the bad controls. The only thing that isn't perfect is the swimming controls, but you can get used to them. Music and Sound: 8/10 Every world has it's own theme, and the different areas in the worlds are all remixes of the main theme. The songs are very good, I really reccomend you listen to it sometime. Some people might find the character voices annoying, but I don't. I never had a problem with them. Overall: 8.5/10 I really enjoyed playing Banjo-Kazooie. It's a very good and charming game. Even if it's old, it's still very good. I reccomend you get if for either the Xbox Live Arcade-thing or the Nintendo 64. It's worth it. Now to find an used, cheap Banjo-Tooie... Thanks for reading my first review. |

Stirred, not shaken.

I'd say this is fair. I always liked Banjo-Tooie better, and as far as I know, I'm not the only one. |

Co-host of DOOM!

I've not played this game, but I've watched a stream of it, I think. But this review is one of the best, fairest, and least biased of the reviews I've seen on here. |

Photobucket is garbage and wants me to pay money to use my own images here all of the sudden (even though it was never an issue for years).
See if I ever use Photobucket for anything ever again.
