Title: Jett Rocket
Genre: Action Adventure/Platformer
Developers: Shin'en Multimedia
Platforms: WiiWare
Release Date: June 28th, 2010.

This is an opinion based review, I am NOT a professional critic.

Story

You are Jett Rocket, planetary inspector. It is your job to eliminate all threats to the planet. An evil group known as the power plant posse (PPP) are draining energy from the earth and trying to pollute it, you must stop them. Honestly, the story's bad, but it's a wiiware title, I expected nothing more. The voice acting is also very very bad. It does what it's supposed to though, and that's give you a reason for what you're doing. I'm unsure if I'll take the story into consideration with my final score.

Gameplay

I'd hate to compare, but the gameplay is very similar to Super Mario Sunshine. You have various worlds all with a different theme and a few stages. Your goal is to make it to the end of the stage and push a button on a generator, the stages are filled with a collectable called solar cells, these are almost completely pointless. The stage will sometimes have a boss fight at the end, but these fights suffer from the painfully easy difficulty. The main gimmick of the game is the Jett Rocket. It is similar to Fludd from super mario sunshine, the rocket has fuel and it will deplete slowly as you use it, luckily the stages are cluttered with refueling stations. Only another testimony to the games easy difficulty. There are 2 other vehicles in the game, the jett ride and jett glider. However, they make very subtle appearances and are hardly worth mentioning.

Graphics

The game looks very nice, especially for a wii title, let alone WiiWare. The graphics are very polished and really compliment the beautiful and colourful enviroments the game gives you. Effects look nice, landscapes are pretty, but the backdrops are what stole the show for me. Even on the dull arctic stages the look of sky manage to leave me staring, Jett Rocket could easily pass as a Playstation or Xbox title.

Verdict

Jett Rocket is a very simple game. Get from point A to point B, maybe fight a boss, and the rocket gimmick isn't enough to make it a game you'll want to play for hours, that being said it is still enjoyable in small doses. The game looks great, it's very polished, and I love the art style. I wish all Wii games could would look this good. However with the painfully easy difficulty, short length (It will run you 2-4 hours), and poor story, there is much to be desired.

Final Score - 6.5/10
