Stirred, not shaken.
Being a huge fan of the call of duty series for a few years now, and seeing its ups and downs, I thought I'd go ahead and give my opinion on Black Ops. Please go ahead and leave yours aswell.

Before I actually get to the point, I'd like to say I'm only level 25 and I've only seen 2 prestiges. It's very possible nothing has been abused or exploited yet.

Good

Weapon Balance: Treyarch hit it home here. SMG's are king at close range, but you will lose 9 times out of 10 at long range, ESPECIALLY with a silencer. Assualt Rifles easily beat SMG's at long range, but you have your work cut out for you at close range. LMG's are all around good. You sacrifice mobility and reload time for reduced recoil and a powerful gun. Shotguns aren't as useless as I thought they'd be. You just need to know which maps are appropriate for them. Snipers took a big hit with quickscoping being virtually impossible, but with a stealthy playstyle and some practice, snipers can be really fun to use. I feel treyarch really defined all the sub classes great, and so far there is no frustrating gun. Some guns are really good, but I don't get mad when they're used against me.

Sound: Sound is no longer a defining factor in this series. Most maps have loud distracting sound effects that make sound whoring impossible. I did hear that treyarch is releasing a patch to make sound whoring a little easier, I can only hope this is a rumour.

Explosion Nerfs: Grenades are no longer king. The blast radius has been cut almost in half, and you can't throw them as far as you could in previous installments making random grenade kills pretty rare. Noob tubes have also been nerfed. I've yet to be killed by one, it seems all they get are hitmarkers now.

Perk Balance: The perk balance is great, I really like how some perks are in different tier slots now. Things like sleight of hand and steady aim both being second tier, or ghost and scavenger being first.

Customization: I like being able to buy whatever perks I want when I want. I like being able to skip certain guns aswell. Customizing your character and red dot reticle are all cool too. I mean, why not?

Needs Attention

Maps: While most maps are okay, I have a problem with a few of them. A lot of these maps are camp heavy. I'm sure things will loosen up as people grow more comfortable with them, but maps like Jungle and Cracked will always have a lot of campers, I don't like it. Some maps like Launch, are just designed so poorly. The middle is wide open making it pretty much a death trap, the the outskirts of the map is just cluttered with random cover items. Add in the most annoying sound effects ever, and an annoying missile that launches in the middle of the game and you have a frustrating map.

CoD Points: While it was a good idea, it could use some work. Wager matches are nearly pointless I, along with everyone else I've spoken to, play them for fun, not CoD points. I also find myself with a surplus of CoD points even after buying a bunch of guns, and I'm not stupid enough to buy something dumb like facepaint. While these little additions are fun and cool, they aren't really needed.

Bad

Spawns: The spawns are terrible at the moment. I heard they're being fixed in the upcoming patch, great. But right now, holy sh**. I've had multiple people spawn in front of me and kill me more than once. I've also had multiple people spawn behind me more than once. And one time, the other team spawned with our team. I find myself playing S&D just to avoid these terrible spawns.

Hardline Pro: Small complaint here, but this perk is a little over the top. I hate the idea of a carepackage already, it's pretty dumb that somebody can get a 15 killstreak from a 5 killstreak if they're lucky, but making it so people with this perk can switch the crate out if they get something bad? Come on now, that's not fair.

Well that's what I think so far, I'm sure these will change. What do you think?

I have only played it for a day, but I find that the RC car is a little overpowered. For only a 3 kill streak, you can get 1-2 free kills, should have been a 4 or 5 kill streak in my opinion. I really like Nuketown, It has an almost completely symmetrical map layout.

I find myself only using SMG's though, I'm sure all the other guns are good, but it's just my personal preference.

I really don't like how it is next to impossible to get into a SnD (and a few other playlists) game with a party. Every time I search for a game, my party ends up getting scattered all over the place. And the spawning isn't the greatest in this game, but it is better than MW2.

Overall I really like the multiplayer in this game, I would recommend this to any online gamer who likes the FPS genre.
